"Youths" clash with police at Paris train station

Paris "youths" are at it again. "Clashes Erupt at Paris Train Station," by Jamey Keaten for Associated Press, with thanks to Mackie:

PARIS (AP) - Riot police firing tear gas and brandishing batons clashed Tuesday with bands of youths who shattered windows and looted shops at a major Paris train station, officials said. Nine people were arrested.

Officials said about 100 people were involved in the melee at Gare du Nord, one of Paris' most important transport hubs. Officers and police dogs fired tear gas and charged at groups of marauding youths, some of them wearing hoods and swinging metal bars.

The youths responded by throwing trash cans and other objects at the officers. A group of youths smashed the windows of a sporting goods store and looted boxes of shoes. Others attacked automatic drink dispensers and set fire to an information booth.

Commuter Cyril Zidou, a 24-year-old electrician, said he was coming home from the gym "when I just got gassed." One woman was evacuated by paramedics for inhalation of tear gas....

The train lines from Gare du Nord radiate out to the same suburbs north of Paris where three weeks of rioting erupted in 2005. That violence was born of pent-up anger - especially among youths of Arab and African origin - over years of high unemployment and racial inequalities.

No doubt they are Arab and African Methodists. In any case, one wonders how long the media will continue to tell people that this is all about unemployment and inequality when the rioters are the recipients of some of the most lavish welfare benefits available anywhere.

No surprise at all.

Recommended French action:

1. Elect Sarkozy
2. Withdraw from European Union
3. Reinstitute French Franc
4. Withdraw from European Human Rights act (leftist crap)
5. Reintroduce Guillotine for capital punishment
6. Behead them all
7. Repeat for any car burners, rioters etc. Get tough
8. Point out the Exit door from France

Wow. In the full article, the word "youth" is used in some form at least 7 times. Not, say, miscreants, rioters, etc.

Just "youths," being... youthful.

From my very limited knowledge, I have quite simply assume that some people in french society is very EMO (as teenagers would say). Call me crazy, but why are they entitled to jobs? I thought working was a privilage, not a right. I certainly don't understand why they think they can extort french society with threats of violence? Shape up or get the fuck out already.

Let me guess:

96 "youts" and 3 french police.

/what a shame

Glad I saw Paris (even changed trains in the Gard Du Nord) before the Islamic onslaught got this far.

There were dubious areas with "youths" (and their grim-faced elders) of "indeterminate religious status" (AKA Mohammedans), but they hadn't reached critical mass yet.

I assume they'll behead Rodin's THINKER next... to show The EU Man of Tomorrow.

Posted by: profitsbeard [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 27, 2007 7:21 PM

One more thing. I know many "youths" who are fabulous kids, and I love how the media takes ideological issues and perverts them into being age and racial issues. It is an insult to those who are young, and it is racism.

Mr Spencer,

I am shocked by your Youthophobia.

Never trust anyone over 30 kids.....

Robert sez: "No doubt they are Arab and African Methodists."

I don't think so. Everybody knows the Methodists don't show up for social functions without bring a covered dish of superb home-cooked food.

The Catholics would bring wine. The Baptists would bring their parents AND their Bibles. The Episcopalians would bring hymnals. I dunno. Who could these youths really be??

The only real clue is that the youths were swinging metal bars. Maybe they were Hittites.

Well well well. Instead of helping us in Iraq, the French stood against us (because of their dirty deals with Saddam)and fanned the anti-American flames in Europe. Now Islam has come around to bite them in their ass. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Looks like their media is running scared too. Chirac wanted to lay with the likes of Arafat and now the stench has rubbed off. Oh well.

Have you folks seen this??????

Students who 'desecrated Allah' acquitted

These "youths" are not very smart. Gare du Nord is one of the most heavily guarded train stations in France. Most of the other Metro stations have little police presence, but the Gare du Nord has at least 3 groups of police there most of the time, the SNCF (railway) police, the CRS (riot police) and the RATP (subway) police. It's almost like the "youths" were looking for a confrontation, and I'm fairly certain they got what they were looking for. The CRS in particular break heads first, ask questions afterwards.

Mes excuses, j'ai voulu dire GARE Du Nord.

Although the French may need more guards (North and South) before these infil-traitors are brought under control, and expelled.

India should hand Kashmir over to Pakistan and re-constitute the Moghul empire or the Delhi Sultanate, or better still, become a part of Bangladesh (as it is, the borders there make US-Mexico look like the Berlin Wall); Israel should hand Jerusalem over to Saudi Arabia, Jaffa to Egypt and Haifa to Syria; Serbia should not only cede Kosovo to Albania but also gift them Belgrade, and Russia should grant Chechnya its independence, and reconstitute the Golden Horde, and transfer its capital from Moscow to Astrakhan. Oh, and Spain should rename itself Andalusia and become Islamic once again.

That might quieten these Parisian yutes.

Collaboration always has a price.

I have read that the Jews are leaving France.

So only the French themselves will be left to suffer the Fate of Jews in France. What an Ironic turn of events.

Can we really comprehend how bad it must be for the Jews to move to Israel, out of fear for their safety???

Some kinda Youths indeed? When these Youths get frisky, they seem to get more accomplished on the streets.

When the newest media lies 'explaining' Islamic rioting in western Europe fail they will disappear from view and quickly be forgotten. These lies include the ones about Muslims attempting to influence France's (upcoming) elecions, discrimination against Muslim immigrants, poverty, etc.

My prediction is the most tired, cliched lie of all will then reassert itself in the worldwide 'news' media: the Muslim riots in France and elsewhere are happening because of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. And of course the Jews are (the 'news' media and Muslims will insist) engineering the whole violent affair...

Millions of Euros will swallow it whole, too--even this time out.

France’s problems are deeper than ‘youths’ in the streets raising a ruckus. The economic model is failing, in part due to the negative externality of the Muslims, but in larger part due to the realities of a liberal Western democracy trying to compete in a globalized world. The masses have been voting themselves benefits that the economy can’t support for long enough that things are starting to break.

Numbers from memory, but I think France’s public spending is 42% of GNP (Great Britain 36%; US ~25%). The ‘productive rich’ can pay over 90% of their income to the government and are voting with their feet, taking a significant chunk of the tax base with them. 48% of Frenchmen polled four months ago worry about becoming homeless on the streets:

http://timescorrespondents.typepad.com/charles_bremner/2006/12/you_wouldnt_kno.html

France will be the first democracy to fall, and we will get a preview of what happens to pushy immigrant groups when the government checks stop showing up in the mail. The eight point plan above will probably be a good starting point.

Youths. The press needs some new code words. How about teens for a change, to liven up the dhimmitude. Can't a dhimmi have an ounce of creativity! How about French ADD patients, teens, long-haired teens, or, in this case, bearded teens. Anything but "youths" which has such an Orwellian flourish. Some of this is dhimmitude, some PC, and some just stupid lazy people who are journalists. On the subject of overused descriptors: how about that "firebrand cleric 'Al Sadr" in Sadr city. He has been referred as firebrand like a million times. Ok, the first time might have been interesting. The right can also be guilty of this with their description of the Iraqi war as a "conflict" or "civil strife" or "secterian hatred" to describe the blood fest orgy of repeated intra-Islamic beheadings, human exploding devices and head drillings in Iraq.

"That violence was born of pent-up anger - especially among youths of Arab and African origin - over years of high unemployment and racial inequalities."

Alas, if only those poor "youths" had a decent job, like, say, BAGGAGE HANDLING AT FRENCH AIRPORTS, then they wouldn't feel the need to lash out at authority the way they sometimes do, the poor things.

Good article recently by Evelyn Gordon in jpost.com on Islam and the culture of violence. She mentioned France as an example of violence over economics. There are many other causes elsewhere with similar results where Muslims live.
There is always misfortune, but Islam's sanctification of violent methods to advance the faith can lead to the use of violence to resolve other issues, ultimately undermining civil society.

All very sensible recommendations, which is why they'll never be adopted. The ideologues are too well entrenched in in Western governments to do what needs to be done.

I have an idea for a flash cartoon but don't have the knowledge to make one.
So picture this: it's in France. A crowd of muslim “youth” is milling about when a French nun appears. She tells the youth “now young people I know you are all good decent muslim people and I just want to make you happy" lets all hold hands and sing French songs. She tries to hold hands but the youth ignore her. she tell" come on we are all French and we should enjoy singing and dancing please join me". She starts singing a French song and clapping her hands. “Join me, come on fellow French people". She is ignored. She pleads “please join me I just want to make you so happy that you will dance for joy" but no on takes her offer. They start murmuring and saying “Allah akbar". The nun is desperate for their attention " please look I am dancing, please join me, hold each other’s hands, you all should be happy". Suddenly the crowd parts and a man comes with a drawn sword and while shouting “Allah akbar" cuts off her head. Now the nun's head is lying there with her body and the Youth all around her. Slowly they start clapping, laughing and shouting praises to Allah while they circle and dance around the body. End.

So tragically sorry.

France is the ONLY country in Western Europe that has a sustainable population birth rate--and that's only due to non-ethnic French births.

Just whom do you think will wear a French uniform (police or military) in 10 or 20 years?

It will become a country of aging and helpless pensioners in a wretched few more years.

And when ths 'slammis get to 'vote'...

Posted by: turn [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 27, 2007 10:32 PM

It won't be long before the cultural treasures of Western civilization will burn at the hands of the Parisian intifada. Alas, the French will probably surrender to the Muslim invaders in toto. A thousand years of Muslim conquest has taught us that the suffering the French will endure will make the Nazi occupation seem like a UN humanitarian mission. The spirit of Charles Martel weeps uncontrollably at the prospect that he and his descendants have lived and died in vain. Liberty, equality and brotherhood will all die with the present generation.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the nomenclature, When the French media report rioting 'youths' they are employing a euphemism for rioting (young adult) children of immigrant Muslims of North African and West Asian heritage.

I'm confidant that there are many of these kids that are good and hard-working individuals--but that does not change the fact of the ethnic identity of perpetrators of the continual violence in the suburbs of Paris.

It is neither insulting nor racist to identify whom the perps are--it is insulting to fail to identify whom the perps are for P.C. reasons.

Not a BIG surprise given the story you aired just yesterday about the "Four suspected jihadists being arrested";

Four suspected jihadists arrested in France
Eurabia Alert. "Four suspected Islamists held in France," from AFP:

PARIS, March 26, 2007 (AFP) - Four men of north African origin were arrested Monday in an investigation into a suspected Islamist underground network, police said.
The men, aged between 30 and 40, were detained in dawn raids at Trappes, in the southwestern Paris outskirts.
Police said they had links with an Islamist group that was dismantled in September 2005. Four of that group's members -- including suspected leader Safe Bourrada -- are under investigation on terrorist charges.

The natives are restless and want some payback. Seems the French government got the right people!

WHAT ABOUT THOSE LOOP HOLES??
Here is some more history for you Catherine:
During 1894-1923 the Ottoman Empire (Muslims) conducted a policy of Genocide of the Christian population living within its extensive territory. The Sultan, Abdul Hamid, first put forth an official governmental policy of genocide against the Armenians of the Ottoman Empire in 1894.
Systematic massacres took place in 1894-1896 when Abdul savagely killed 300,000 Armenians throughout the provinces. Massacres recurred, and in 1909 government troops killed, in the towns of Adana alone, over 20,000 Christian Armenians.
When WW1 broke out the The Ottoman Empire was ruled by the "Young Turk" dictatorship which allied itself with Germany. Turkish government decided to eliminate the whole of the Christian population of Greeks, Armenians, Syrians and Nestorians. The government slogan, "Turkey for the Turks", served to encourage Turkish Muslim civilians on a policy of ethnic cleansing.
The next step of the Armenian Genocide began on 24 April 1915 with the mass arrest, and ultimate murder, of religious, political and intellectual leaders in Constantinople and elsewhere in the empire.
Then, in every Armenian community, a carefully planned Genocide unfolded: Arrest of clergy and other prominent persons, disarmament of the population and Armenian soldiers serving in the Ottoman army, segregation and public execution of leaders and able-bodied men, and the deportation to the deserts of the remaining Armenian women, children and elderly.
Renowned historian Arnold Toynbee wrote that "the crime was concerted very systematically for there is evidence of identical procedure from over fifty places."
The Genocide started from the border districts and seacoasts, and worked inland to the most remote hamlets. Over 1.5 million Armenian Christians, including over 4,000 bishops and priests, were killed in this step of the Genocide.
The Greek Christians, particularly in the Black Sea area known as Pontus, who had been suffering from Turkish-Muslim persecutions and murders all the while, saw the Turks turn more fiercely on them as WW1 came to a close.
The Allied Powers, at a peace conference in Paris in 1919, rewarded Greece for her support by inviting Prime Minister Venizelos to occupy the city of Smyrna with its rich hinterlands, and they placed the province under Greek control.
This action greatly angered the Turks. The Greek occupation was a peaceful one but drew immediate fire from Turkish forces in the outlying areas. When the Greek army farmed out to protect its people, a full-fledged war broke out between Greece and Turkey (the Greco-Turkish war).
The Treaty of Sevres, signed in 1920 to end WW1 and which provided for an independent Armenia, was never ratified. The treaty's terms changed not long after the ink dried as England, France and Italy each began secretly bargaining with Mustafa Kemel (Ataturk) in order to gain the right to exploit oil fields in the Mozul (now Iraq).
Betrayed by the Allied Powers, the Greek military front, after 40 long months of war, collapsed and retreated as the Turks began again to occupy Asia Minor.
September 1922 signaled the end of the Greek and Armenian presence in the city of Smyrna. On 9 September 1922, the Turks entered Smyrna; and after systematically murdering the Armenians in their own homes, the forces of Ataturk turned on the Greeks whose numbers had swelled, with the addition of refugees who had fled their villages in Turkey's interior, to upwards of 400,000 men, women and children.
The conquering Turk- Muslims went from house to house, looting, pillaging, raping and murdering the population. Finally, when the wind had turned so that it was blowing toward the sea so that the small Turkish quarter at the rear of the city was not in danger, Turkish forces, led by their officers, poured kerosene on the buildings and homes of the Greek and Armenian sectors and set them afire. Thus, any remaining live inhabitants of the city were flushed out to be caught between a wall of fire and the sea. The pier of Smyrna became a scene of final desperation as the approaching flames forced many thousands to jump to their death or to be consumed by fire.
The native population of Asia Minor traces its Christian roots to the early days of Christianity. the Armenians, an ancient people, trace their origins back 2500 years. In 301 AD. the Armenian King Dftad declared Christianity as the kingdom's official religion, making Armenia the first Christian political state in the world. The migration of Greek tribes to Asia Minor began just before 2,000 BC and the Greeks built dozens of cities such as Smyrna, Phocaea, Pergamon, Ephesus and Byzantium (Constantinople). The native inhabitants of Asia Minor, among the first to accept the message of Christianity, were later to be persecuted and uprooted from their lands because of that same faith. Turkish-Muslim tribes plagued the region. Later another tribe, the Oyuz Turks who embraced Islam and ultimately produced the Ottoman Turks, conquered Persia, the Caliphate of Baghdad, and then the whole area presently occupied by Syria, Iraq and Palestine.
Under the Ottoman Empire the Christians suffered a steady decline. Forced conversions to Islam, the abduction of children to serve in the fanatical Janissary corps, persecutions and oppression reduced the Christian population. Oppression intensified, leading to Genocide. Christian clergy were a constant target of Turkish persecution, particularly once the 1894 policy of Armenian genocide had been declared by sultan Abdul Hamid.
Victims of horrible torture, many Orthodox clergy were martyred for their faith. Among the first was Metropolitan Chrysostomos who was martyred, not just to kill a man but, to insult a sacred religion and an ancient and honorable people. Chrysostomos was enthroned as Metropolitan of Smyrna on 10 May 1910. Metropolitan Chrysostomos courageously opposed the anti Christian rage of the turks and sought to raise international pressure against the persecution of Turkish Christians. He wrote many letters to European leaders and to the western press in an effort to expose the genocide policies of the Turks. In 1922, in unprotected Smyrna, Chrysostomos said to those begging him to flee: "It is the tradition of the Greek Church and the duty of the priest to stay with his congregation."
On 9 September crowds were rushing into the cathedral for shelter when Chrysostomos, pale from fasting and lack of sleep, led his last prayer. The Divine Liturgy ended as Turkish police came to the church and led Chrysostomos away. The Turkish General Nouredin Pasha, known as the "butcher of Ionia", first spat on the Metropolitan and informed him that a tribunal in Angora (now Ankara) had already condemned him to death. A mob fell upon Chrysostomos and tore out his eyes. Bleeding profusely, he was dragged through the streets by his beard. He was beaten and kicked and parts of his body were cut off. All the while Chrysostomos, his face covered with blood, prayed: "Holy Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Every now and then, when he had the strength, he would raise his hand and bless his persecutors; a Turk, realizing what the Metropolitan was doing, cut off his hand with a sword. Metropolitan Chrysostomos was then hacked to pieced by the angry mob.
Among the hundreds of Armenian clergy who were persecuted and murdered were Bishop Khosrov Behrigian and Very Reverend Father Mgrdich' Chghladian
Bishop Behrigian (1869-1915) was born in Zara and became the primate for the Diocese of Caesarea/Kayseri in 1915. He was arrested by Turkish police upon his return from Etchmiadzin where he had just been consecrated bishop. Informed of his fate, the bishop asked for a bullet to the head. Deliberately ignoring his request, the police tied him to a "yataghan" where sheep were butchered an then proceeded to hack his body apart while he was still alive.
Father Chghladian was born in Tatvan. In May 1915, as part of the campaign of mass arrests, deportations and murders, the priest was tortured and displayed in a procession, led by sheiks and dervishes while accompanied by drums, through the streets of Dikranagerd. Once the procession returned to the mosque, in the presence of government officials, the sheiks poured oil over the priest and burned him alive.
Four of the martyred bishops who were murdered between 1921-1922 are today elevated to sainthood in the Greek Orthodox Church: They are, in addition to Metropolitan Chrysostomos, Bishops Efthimios, Gregorios and Ambrosios.
Bishop Efthimios of Amasia was captured by the Turkish police and tortured daily for 41 days. In the last days of his life he chanted his own funeral memorial until finally dying in his cell on 29 May 1921. Three days later a written order for his execution arrived from Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk).
Metropolitan Gregorios of Kydonion remained with his church until the end, helping 20,000 of his 35,000 parishioners escape to Mytilene and other free parts of Greece. On 3 October 1922, the remaining 15,000 Orthodox Christians were executed; the Metropolitan was saved in order to be buried alive.
Metropolitan Ambrosios of Moshonesion, along with 12 priests and 6,000 Christians, were sent by the Turks on a forced deportation march to Central Asia Minor. All of them perished on the road, some slain by Turkish irregulars and civilians, the remainder left to die of starvation. Bishop Ambrosios died on 15 September 1922 when Turkish police nailed horseshoes to his feet and then cut his body into pieces.
"I have given orders to my Death Units to exterminate without mercy or pity, men, women, and children belonging to the Polish speaking race. It is only in this manner we can acquire the vital territory which we need. After all, who remembers the extermination of the Armenians?" - Adolf Hitler, 22 August 1939

That might cause some confusion for readers in the UK, where there has been an outbreak of teens. Only yesterday, 'teenager' was used to describe the perpetrator of a black-on-white murder.

It is extremely worrying that the EU is planning to extend its borders to incorporate even more youths. (See below).

The EU is a Frankenstein's monster that must be slain, for all our sakes.

http://washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20070327-094845-9270r.htm

"With the accession of Romania and Bulgaria on Jan. 1, the EU's territory has reached the outer boundaries of the European continent. Since the European Empire by definition has to expand, it has to move into Asia and Africa. The preparation for this crossing of the Rubicon -- in this case the crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar and the Bosporus -- has been going on for years.

Five years ago, Louis Michel, then the Belgian minister of foreign affairs and at present a member of the European Commission, told the Belgian parliament that eventually the EU will encompass the entire Mediterranean basin, including North Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Michel also posited that only by incorporating both Israel and Palestine into the EU will there be peace between them.

The European-Mediterranean ("Euro-Med") partnership between the EU and the countries of the Maghreb (an Arab word meaning "the West" and denoting Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya -- the North African Muslim countries to the west of Egypt) was established specifically to promote the economic, cultural and political integration of the EU and the Maghreb countries. The Brussels bureaucrats embrace Islam because they want the EU to expand into the Muslim east and south. They think that eventually the Maghreb will become part of Europe, but many ordinary Europeans fear that Europe is on its way to becoming the Maghreb, the Muslim "West."

Recommended Action for all Countries:

Ban Muslim Immigration...

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 28, 2007 9:23 AM

I agree with the suggestion that muslim immigration must be banned. In the UK muslim marriages allow untold numbers of muslims to flood into our country, claiming benefits and adding nothing to our country. What is scary is that the politicians are so full of cowardice that they will not stand up against it. I used to have muslim friends until 7/7, after which they refused to talk to me because I am kuffar. However, before they used their peacefull religion to show their hatred towards me they admitted that muslim men often marry many women using various names just to push up the number of muslims in the country.

I suggest that we remove muslims from our countries and send them back to islamic countries, it is a solution that will suit everyone. The muslims will be happy, they will be able to live under sharia in their own countries, there is no possible reason they would not want to live in one of the many islamic countries as these countries are in strict adherence to the koran. The fact that so many muslims wish to leave islamic countries tells us that they either do not believe islam is a good way to run a country OR that they have every intention of overtaking our countries'.

I wonder which one it is?

I was thinking this exact thing. I've been exchanging messages with some French utes and I try to warn them of the risk to all Gallic culture. The Louvre will burn someday and all the glass and carvings on The Our Ladies of Chartres and Paris will be destroyed like the standing Buddah in Afghanistan.

Sainte Chappelle in the Palais de Justice on Ille de la Cite' in Paris is a magical place but it too would be destroyed after these 750 years.

I try to tell them these things. Some Utes seem to be listening.

According to Le Monde (http://www.lemonde.fr/web/depeches/0,14-0,39-30296544@7-37,0.html):

"Neuf personnes ont été interpellées ..."

Translation: Nine people have been arrested.

"Environ 200 personnes, présentées par la police comme des marginaux habitués de l'endroit, ont fait face à plusieurs dizaines de policiers et quelques vitrines ont été brisées dans la galerie marchande de la gare."

Translation: About 200 people, described by the police as marginals [i.e. miscellaneous inhabitants of the lower echelons of society] from the area, confronted several dozen police and some windows were broken in the station shopping centre.

'Les émeutiers ont jeté divers projectiles sur les forces de l'ordre, dont des pots de fleurs et des bouteilles vides, ont rapporté des témoins. "La situation est un peu tendue", a reconnu un porte-parole de la préfecture.'

Translation: The rioters threw various objects at the police, including flowerpots and empty bottles, reported bystanders. "The situation is a little tense", agreed a police spokesman.

'Aux cris de "Sarkozy hypocrite!", des jeunes ont expliqué aux journalistes être venus protester contre "les brutalités infligées à un voyageur dépourvu de titre de transport", affirmant que ce dernier avait eu "la main cassée".'

Translation: Shouting "Sarkozy is a hypocrite!", some youths explained to journalists that they were there to protest against the "brutal treatment of a passenger who had no ticket", stating that the passenger had sustained "a broken hand".

'Selon la préfecture, les incidents ont commencé vers 16h15 quand le voyageur en infraction a été contrôlé par deux agents de la RATP et s'est rebellé, blessant les deux contrôleurs. L'individu, âgé de 33 ans, a alors été interpellé par des gendarmes, qui patrouillaient dans la gare, dans le cadre du plan Vigipirate, et conduit dans un local de solidarité.'

Translation: According to the police, the incidents started at about 4.15pm when the ticketless passenger was detained by two rail company employees and resisted, injuring the employees. The individual, aged 33, was therefore arrested by the police who patrol the station as part of a counter-crime initiative, and taken to a secure location.

'Plusieurs dizaines de personnes se sont alors rassemblées devant ce local et les affrontements ont commencé, amenant la venue de renforts de police.'

Translation: Several dozen people then assembled in front of the secure location and the trouble started, leading to the arrival of police reinforcements.

'"Ce voyageur n'avait pas de titre de transport. Il y a eu une altercation avec les contrôleurs, dont deux ont été blessés. Cette personne a été emmenée par les contrôleurs et remise aux gendarmes", a-t-elle dit.'

Translation: "This passenger did not have a valid ticket. There was an altercation with the ticket inspectors, two of whom were injured. This person was escorted by the inspectors and handed to police", [said a railway spokesman]

Conclusion: Because "Sarkozy is a hypocrite", French youths believe that you should be able to travel for free. Work that one out.

That violence was born of pent-up anger.

An anger that has been seething since 610 AD. And back then it was the pagans who did the anti-Moslem discriminating.

Is there a word for multi-millenial seething? Oh, I am sorry, that word is Islam.

Posted by: Alarmed Pig Farmer [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 28, 2007 10:42 AM

From the linked article:

"Youths at the station said Tuesday's clashes started when police manhandled a young person of North African origin. Some claimed that the youth's arm was broken in the confrontation."

A 33 yr. old youth?

"Commuter Cyril Zidou, a 24-year-old electrician, said he was coming home from the gym "when I just got gassed." One woman was evacuated by paramedics for inhalation of tear gas...."

The standard "bystander comment" complains about the reaction by the police, not the people who started it. Subtle, but telling.

George Orwell was right about New Speak. Thuggish Muslims have become "youths," terrorists have become "gunmen," preparations for genocide have become "national determination of the Palestinians," and justified fears about a diabolic ideology have become "islamo-phobia." Disgusting.

Le Pen has referred to the ticketless passenger whose arrest triggered the riot as a "clandestin" - i.e. an illegal immigrant.

Can anyone confirm this?

To Watling,
Yes Lepen is right. The new Minister of Interior, Baroin, who replaced Sarkozy a couple of days ago said this morning that the 32 year old is an illegal congolese immigrant, with whom the police has dealt 22 times already ( obviously not very diligently!!!)for violent behaviour. He is also supposed to have been sent back to his country...

I was going to write that I'm not convinced that these riots (and the ones last year) have anything to do with jihad or Islam. Just because the riots involve unemployed immigrants orginally from Muslim countries does not mean the riots have anything to do with religion.

Now, thanks to 'brubos' helpful piece of information, my suspicion is confirmed; it has nothing to do with Islam! The fare-dodger in question is a Congolese illegal immigrant. The Congo is not even remotely a Muslim country (it's half animist half Christian). This ageing 'youth' is not a Muslim, is he?

Whatever you think of the rioters, and whatever you think of the issue of immigration, the riots in France have nothing to do with Jihad.

Posted by: schmegel [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 28, 2007 4:33 PM

Nice try, Schmegel... The guy that got arrested for not paying his metro was from Congo, but the 200 hooligans that descended on the train station and started destroying everything and fighting with the police were not all from Congo. As the video shows, lots of blacks and arabs, which is your usual `youth`from the Banlieues in France.
