The Word Games That Hamas Plays

"Muslims will take over the world." An analysis by Steven Stalinsky in the New York Sun:

"I am confident that the siege will be partially broken, which will give our people an opportunity to be prepared for the forthcoming stage." — Khaled Meshaal, Asharq Al-Awsat, February 2

Has Hamas moderated? Or are the Palestinian Arab organization's leaders following in the footsteps of Yasser Arafat, discussing peaceful intentions in talks with the West while declaring jihad in Arabic?

During a press conference in Tehran with President Ahmadinejad on March 4, the political leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, said he supported the recently signed Mecca Accords for power sharing between Hamas and the Fatah Party of Arafat and the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.

Mr. Meshaal also spoke in favor of other Palestinian Arab objectives, such as the establishment of a state with the 1967 borders and Jerusalem as its capital, and the so-called right of return.

Mr. Meshaal reiterated Hamas's position against official recognition of Israel, and he promised to continue the group's resistance. With a smile on his face, Mr. Ahmadinejad told the Hamas leader: "The Zionist entity is in the worst period in its history, and is headed toward crumbling. … The divine victory … will soon be revealed."

At an address at Al-Murabit Mosque in Damascus on February 3, 2006, Mr. Meshaal said publicly what some Palestinian Arabs have been talking about for some time with their press outlets: They will be patient in their battle against Israel. He promised, "Muslims will take over the world," and he explicitly said his organization's plan is to deceive Israel with semantics.

In his speech, the Hamas leader explained that his people are willing to continue fighting Israel even if it takes 1000 years for victory. Mr. Meshaal also said one aspect of Hamas's current strategy is to rely on such tools as using statements like "we love peace" or "we have given up the option of war," while still planning Israel's destruction.

And the West -- media and government elites -- fall for it every time.

This was the strategy of Hitler in the 1930's: talk peace and prepare to make war. In speech after speech in the 1933 and 1934 (and later) he condemned war in the most personal terms since he had been a soldier in WW 1. He fooled many, including Lloyd George, but he did not fool Winnie Churchill. Churchill went through his long 1930's "out of step period" (as he called it) because he lived in the real world. If Israel wants peace the people there must make certain that no one dares to attack them militarily. The Jewish refugees who fled Muslim rule did so good reasons.

'The divine victory … will soon be revealed."

....Another humilating Islamic defeat could also soon be revealed....

There is no peace and no peace possible as long as one side believes we are in the house of war.

Until every muslim country is treated as though they are in the house of war, there will be no peace.

If we are perceived by our sworn by koran enemies to be in the house of war, we must act like it.

Everything else is likely blindness, appeasement, political jockeying.

Remember our history before WWII when alliances of the weirdest kind transpired as sides were cast ? Feels a lot like then.

Let's hope not, but prepare for the worst.

The inferiority complex that muslims show in every aspect of their religion is something that they need to address. They can never live in the real world until they look at the koran for what it was, a political text.

Nothing will change , their objective is clear and always has been. The destruction of Israel is and has always been their objective.

The use of hudna among the Palestinians and the supporting Arab states,Saudia Arabia,Syria,Iran, and for that matter Egypt as well, has always been their respite in attempts to gather greater strength towards Israel.

They will use all the tools they can to squeeze Israel out (giving up land for peace plans). But of course their will be no peace, their will only be military advantage for the supporting Arab states, and the Palestinians who have for the most part excepted Hamas. Hamas has proclaimed to the palestinians that the 36 articles of the Hamas charter are locked in stone.

their determination to destroy Israel will always trump any peace deal in a short matter of time. There will be advanced provocations against Israel soon after any land for peace deal is signed as it has happened time and time again.

There is absolutely no credibility in Palestine and yet the ever repeating none learning fools will rush in to grasp what might as well be called a non binding peace accord.

That anyone has to spend time bothering to present a textual analysis of what should be obvious to everyone is itelf infuriating. Good for steely Stalinsky, who has the stamina to do so, but how maddening it is that he even feels, rightly alas, that he has to go to the tedious trouble.

Kahane was right! Israelis must move to eliminate its Muslim population through mass emmigration. One can not negotiate with a cancer.

The Philistines of Gaza as the Bible predicts will be a ruin before this is done and it is about done.

There is not time for a 100 years war as the Judeans in the next major blood letting are going to unleash and end the Hamas problem.
