Imams narrow target of 'Does'

Now we learn that they're only going after the "racist" passengers. And "there is no way Mr. Mohammedi can possibly determine whether the John Does 'knowingly made false reports' against his clients 'with the intent to discriminate against them' without taking their testimony under oath, at least during pretrial discovery." That in itself will discourage passengers from reporting suspicious activity in the future. And then it's open season for jihadist hijackers in airports.

By Audrey Hudson in the Washington Times (thanks to Sr. Soph):

A group of imams suing US Airways for discrimination amended their lawsuit this week to target only the "John Doe" passengers who they say are racist and falsely accused them of behaving suspiciously.

The six imams were removed from a flight in Minneapolis in November for disruptive behavior reported by passengers and members of the flight crew.

The lawsuit filed earlier this month targeted "passengers who contacted US Airways to report the alleged 'suspicious' behavior of plaintiffs performing their prayer at the airport terminal."

The amended lawsuit identifies possible John Does as individuals who "may have made false reports against plaintiffs solely with the intent to discriminate against them on the basis of their race, religion, ethnicity and national origin."

"The only individuals against whom suit may be raised in this litigation are those who may have knowingly made false reports against the imams with the intent to discriminate against them," Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said in a letter this week to the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a public interest law firm. The Becket Fund had publicly condemned CAIR for supporting the case.

"The imams will not sue any passengers who reported suspicious activity in good faith, even when the 'suspicious' behavior included the imams' constitutionally protected right to practice their religion without fear or intimidation," Mr. Nihad said. "When a person makes a false report with the intent to discriminate, he or she is not acting in good faith."

The imams are being represented by New York lawyer Omar Mohammedi in the lawsuit, which has triggered an outcry among lawyers who say they will defend the "John Does" for free.

Becket Fund Chairman Kevin Hasson criticized the amended changes in a letter to CAIR on Thursday.

"There is no way Mr. Mohammedi can possibly determine whether the John Does 'knowingly made false reports' against his clients 'with the intent to discriminate against them' without taking their testimony under oath, at least during pretrial discovery," Mr. Hasson said.

"That prospect alone, of being dragged into court proceedings, will certainly provide a great disincentive for other citizens to come forward with their own suspicions," he said.

Abe Lincoln: If you call a tail a leg, how many legs has a dog? Five? No - calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg.

Calling someone a racist doesn't make him a racist and accusing him of such harms the reputation of the accuser, given the circumstances and historical trend of violence from exactly the same group who is now crying "Victim."

They are cunning creatures though, using our own sensibilities against us to further their cause. But their stategy is neutralized by the pro bono defenses offered John Doe.

Several times in my life, I have called the police about suspicious activity in my neighborhood. I always thought that it was my duty as a good citizen to report..and then let the authorities investigate and make a decision. In fact, in the USA, there are numerous advertisements urging citizens to call, anonymously, to report crimes of all kinds. John Walsh (America's Most Wanted) might as well give up his TV show if CAIR is successful. If CAIR wins, the first group of people to lose will be honest Muslims, already reluctant to come foreward, will never do so in the future. Does any JW reader know if Congress recently passed a bill in opposition to CAIR's tactics, basically protecting those who report suspicious activity?

Muslim aggresion invariably targets our achilles heel -- liberalism. They know that charging "racism" is the magic spell that leaves us morally disarmed, cringing and silenced. Works every time. Even with people who don't think of themselves as liberals. The fact is we are 99.999% all liberals. That's why there's no serious opposition to Muslim immigration. That's why there's not a single politician of national stature publicly calling for an end to Muslim immigration. That's why demanding Muslim emmigration is entirely unthinkable. We're all a bunch of guilty liberals, eager to prove our nonracist credentials, so the liberal priesthood will approve of us, and polite society won't shun us.

The Muslims have got our number. And they rub our guilty little liberal faces in it every day.

The John Doe Act

On April 27th the House Republicans with a procedural vote to protect public-transportation passengers from being sued if they report suspicious activity -- the first step by lawmakers to protect "John Doe" airline travelers already targeted in a lawsuit by Muslim imams that charges profiling.

The introduction of a motion to recommit the Rail and Public Transportation Security Act of 2007 back to committee with instructions to add the protective language was introduced by Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The vote and the motion to add the protective language passed 304 to 121 in the house so far.

these immans will regret doing this, their anxious and think they will win, but they have attacked the regular "John Doe" and these "Does" are not elite liberals, they will fight back. so any immans get a clue here, you will regret the day you planned this
sham on the American people.

I think the point that should be stressed is the number of flights that had muslims on it and not a single complaint. I would like to see someone with a big audience bring that up.

I wish I'd been on that plane. I'd have no problems with telling them I'd turn in anyone who was acting weird like that.

Someone also ought to point out that non muslim passengers have gotten thrown off of planes or arrested when the plane landed when they acted up in flight.

Posted by: Desdinova [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 31, 2007 10:17 AM

I guess the next step is the Mucking Flying Fuslims will get the passenger list from the airline and interview every one on it. It will cost CAIR a lot of money, but their Saudi backers have plenty of that. The passengers don't have Saudi oil money. The cost of a defense, even if successful will be in the thousands, how many of us have ten thousand dollars to throw away?

If this CAIR intimidation practice is not stopped, the only recourse to freightened passengers is to just refuse to board and lose the cost of a ticket.

Posted by: Pelayo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 31, 2007 10:28 AM

What a bunch of phonies. CAIR etc. is infested with Jew-hating pigs. I'll bet there are videos and audios of the behavior of these supremacist liars and deceivers that will leave no doubt that they provoked the passengers by their alarming behavior and alarming words. Someday everybody will see what these creeps are really about.

Posted by: Frank [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 31, 2007 10:31 AM

This is simply a SLAPP. The point is not that they expect to win it's that CAIR can afford to thus punish the John Does with trouble and expense even if CAIR loses the case (which it probably expects). Lets hope the legislative effort to protect the public against such CAIR SLAPP suits.

I think this is making very bad PR for CAIR:

Zena, you sound like a brave woman, but bravery in the courtroom requires a lot of money. Too often, even if you could win, you would be about $10 to $20 thousand poorer. I once had a car insurance company pay out $8,000 because the defense would be about $25,000. Most of that cost would be toward medical "experts" who would have to refute the "victim's" claims. It was a car wreck, where no citations were issued. There is some satisfaction in that the plaintiff got less than half the $8,000 after her lawyers were finished. Nevertheless, it was settled as an economic decision by my insurance company.

I don't have "Flying Imam" insurance, do you?

As this is my first time posting to this site I wish to say a big Thank You to Mr. Spencer and the rest of you folks for maintaining the most informative site on the net!

Now, as I recall these flying imams were returning from a conference for imams. If my memory serves me right, what these lawyers who will be defending this suit need to do is get their hands on the brochure for the afformentioned conference. As I recall, either a reporter or a blogger got their hands on one of these brochures and one of the lectures at the conference was with regards to how to manipulate the media for the purpose of filing these lawsuits and intimidating the kuffir into silence for the purpose of weakening the security measures. Now, I grant you that the specific purpose, is my recalled interpretation, only as memory serves, but, this is definately where the lawyers for US Air as well as the "John Does" lawyers should begin.

A question for the legal hounds out there. If it is shown that this is all a setup/preplanned attack, is there any legal or civil recourse against the imams or the council on arab infidel relations for bringing a fraudulent suit?

Islam is not a "race" therefore this aspect of the suit should be thrown out immediately.

Furthermore, as I have long believe, this is the problem with so-called "hate-crime" legislation. How the heck can you criminalize a thought or motive? One can only accurately be certain of the result, the action, that is...the physical act that has taken place. I can charge somebody with murder, but I'm not a mind-reader, and I shouldn't be able to charge a person with the thought behind the murder.

"Hate-Crimes" was a VERY BAD idea. It leads us all down that slippery slope. Especially in a restriction of free-speech and sooner or later, free-thought.

Just my two cents.

The recent legislation passed is retrospective and gives the John Does immunity to lawsuits...

Posted by: The Resistance [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 31, 2007 11:17 AM

Welcome, Paratisi! Thank you, Mackie, for the hopeful news from Congress. This lawsuit really is crazy, on many different levels. Even if CAIR was to win against several 'John Does' for racism or whatever, what do they think would happen if terrorists did slip through, as a result of their win, and more planes were blown up? Does CAIR, or more importantly, the politicians and the airlines, believe that people would keep boarding planes like cattle? I want to say "no" but, then again, the establishment may be counting on a certain level of tolerance of bloodshed and violence, including planes blown out of the sky or parts of malls being bombed out.

A "Mad Magazine" scene we'd like to see:

JUDGE: "Has the jury reached a recommended settlement for the 6 Imam plaintiffs?"

MEMBER OF THE JURY: "Yes we have your Honor"

JUDGE:"What are your recommendations?"

MEMBER OF THE JURY: "We find the six plaintiffs guilty of inciting terror in the hearts of the passengers on a US Airway flight in November 2006."

JUDGE: "To the six plaintiffs, I sentence you each to 20 years of hard labor in a federal penitentiary and no chance of parole"

JUGDE: slams the gavel "Next please!"

FoxNews morning show had Awad (from CAIR) and Rep. King on this morning. The encounter was great watching.
Among other things Congressman King who was called the ranking member of the Homeland Security Cmte., said that CAIR should be looked into for their extremist views, which caused Awad to call him extremist.
Awad played the predictable Race card, saying that fifty years ago people didn't want to sit next to a black person and now it's a Muslim. King responded by saying that was the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard, downright silly.
The Congressman held up very well. I liked the way the Black (Kelly?) guy who was the moderator pronounced the CAIR fellow's name Ah-wad.
And of course the CAIR representative pulled out the final blow at the last, he accused the Honorable Congressional Representative of being, OH NO, an Islamaphobe!

Pelayo l would hope to be brave, l am a hot head, my ancestry says l should be, ie latin blood lol.. but the airlines have much to lose here, if the DOES are terrified to go on board because of those stinking immans, they will lose out on ticket sales. l would never stop to inform the stewards or pilots of suspcious behaviour, and l might even smack down one of those fat ol immans on his butt, just to feel good about taking down a bully.

Posted by: ZenaWarriorPrincess [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 31, 2007 12:36 PM

Oh please do this my Muslim friends, ammend the charges to call people racists as once you do this and they are exonerated in court they will sue you for slander and defamation of character.

Please CAIR file suit against me as I would love to spend your money on a nice vacation home as in my counter suit I WILL force the courts to examine your combined effort IN A CALCULATED EFFORT OF INTENDED HARM ON US CITIZENS TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS THROUGH FEAR AND INTIMIDATION.

That my Islamic CAIR friends is the defintion of TERRORISM and if Kevin Hasson or John Doe do not file on you over this, please come after me as I will certainly do it and see you arrested, tried and convicted and serving time in some offshore prison for the terrorism you are sponsoring against American citizens.

Go ahead CAIR make my day!

This lawsuit flies in the face of the first line of defense against Islamic terrorism or any form of terrorism, let alone any form of potential criminal behavior across the board.

Being concerned and responding to any suspicious behavior is indeed the cornerstone of Homeland securities battle against Islamic terrorism.

As all of us know, who fly often, if we happen to change our flight plans in the middle of a noted trip, you can be expected to be pulled out ,searched, and question at some length because of that. I missed a second flight 18 months ago because of this extra search by the TSA. The loss of that connection caused so much inconvenience that I ended up renting a car and having to stay 2 extra nights on the road at hotels. But I accepted the inconience as necessary and took a positive attitude as opposed to the Muslims whose ideology is responsible for the inconveniences that people experience all over the world everday because of Islamic terrorism.

Even beyond that are the continious and ominous warnings regarding what is occuring in some 80 Pct. of the madrasses across America. The irony of this is that moderate Muslims have come forward to warn America of what is going on in these Saudi funded madrasses. Vigilance in the face of this is not even nearly enough (understatement) when it comes to being concerned about suspicious behavior.

Posted by: Mackie [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 31, 2007 1:35 PM

It actually won't help the CAIR and the six imams to go after "racist" John Does-- because Islam is NOT a 'race' anyway.

Islam, of course, is an ideology that teaches first degree murder to its followers as part of its intrinsic doctrine. Not only does Islam teach first degree murder as its basic doctrine, however, it actually PRACTICES murder (Islamic mass homicide is what we in the western democracies perceive as "terrorism").

Islam is a serious DANGER to non-Muslims, particularly when Muslims are on a plane loaded with non-Muslims or "unbelievers" (there is no escape hatch from a plane, unless one happens to be in possession of a parachute which likely couldn't help). All people reserve the right to defend themselves and at 37,000 feet there just aren't many ways to do that.

Persons who are "biased" against Islam are not usually biased against it for reasons that are related to skin color; they are mainly biased against Islam because of what it teaches (murder). There is a general awareness among such 'prejudiced' people that Islam is capable of a lethal attack at any time.

Prejudice against Islam and those who practice it is not "racism" and I predict the CAIR's case in court against "racist" John Does is going to fall apart for this reason.

***********************************************************************

My kudos to the so-called "racist" John Does!!! They are helping keep our commercial airways safe!

It would seem to me that the Does in the Flying Iman incident would have a far better case than the Imans have.

I would think that some compensation is due the Does for the stress caused to other passengers by the actions of these Imans.

Since we've learned that Islam doesn't require Muslims to make such a public display when praying, it is reasonable to assume that the Imans were purposely trying to stress out other passengers.

Since they obviously succeeded in what they were trying to do, they should pay for the emotional stress that they caused.

Maybe if they had to pay out a hefty amount of the Saudi money stashed in their bank accounts, they'll be less inclined to try that stunt again.

Thanks for the welcome Maryrose. Sorry for the lapse but I'm still at work. To answer your question, they would think "Mission accomplished". I mean, let's face it Nihad "IS" Ahwad is here to establish sharia law as the law of the land.

I still believe that when the conference notes and the lectures the imams attended are brought to light you will find the motivation for this whole contrived routine/dry run the "Does" witnessed on the plane and in the terminal.

I also agree with Lame Cherry, these terrorist supporters(the imams) and their co-conspirators and terrorist apologists(council on arab infidel relations or cair) have to feel the legal offensive of "John Does" all over. They made a big show of the $50 million dollars they received from their saudi masters a few months back and now we know what that saudi money was for, attacking Americans and America's national security. We have to go on the offensive and make them go through that $50 mil as fast as possible. With urgency and the need for speed come mistakes and then we can go after them for not covering their tracks on the possible charges of undue influence on the politicians as well.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

As Robert, and others, have repeatedly stated, the goal of the imams & CAIR is surely to chip away at Western confidence in questioning Islam.

Remember the plot to blow up the Herald Square subway station in NYC, which two Muslims have been convicted of? One of the informants who gave information that helped get them arrested had attended a local mosque.

Even now, the local Muslim population is militant about this. Having asked Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly to a question-and-answer session at the the Albanian Islamic Cultural Center (the largest mosque on Staten Island), this was the focus:

'El-Meligy and Imam Ghulam Rasul, spiritual leader of Masjid-al-Noor in Concord, both grilled Kelly about the use of informants.

"Entrapment was the number-one issue in this case, but the jury rejected it," Kelly said.

Other concerns raised during the hour-long session included the disrespect some police officers show to Muslim men in African clothing and to women wearing traditional head coverings.

"I hear you," the commissioner said, emphasizing that "we're human and we make mistakes." He said sensitivity training is ongoing.'

http://www.silive.com/news/advance/index.ssf?/base/news/1175330709322690.xml&coll=1

There we go...sensitivity training for all.

BTW, last week I saw a clearly-African couple debarking from the Staten Island Ferry. The woman was covered from head-to-toe (& fingertips) in many layers of clothing (not a burqa), and had a very strange-looking niqab covering her face. I tried to catch the eye of many an officer, and DOT employee, just to see if they were at least NOTICING this; nothing. No response; no indication that they even noticed. Must be that senstivity training in action....

Me, I made sure to point at her, literally, more than once when alerting acquaintances.

Of course these John Does did nothing wrong, and will not be convicted of anything. The only goal is to punish them by inconveniencing them and by making them pay for their own defense.

But that should be a two-way street. Let's introduce evidence about the background of these imams, and about the classes they were attending (that taught how to use the legal system and media to manipulate the infidels). Let's look at who is funding CAIR. Let's examine CAIR's internal emails regarding these imams, prior to the incident and after. Were these imams aware that previous Islamic hijackers seated themselves at every doorway? Did they know that seatbelt extenders have been used as weapons? There is no way to know, without examing the harddrive of every computer they've ever used, without getting a list of everyone attending those classes and whether they have links to known terrorist organizations. We'll need the financial records of the mosques that these imams run, to verify how they paid for their trips.

They can examine the John Does all they want, there's nothing there. But examining the imams and CAIR will prove to be a very interesting story, I have no doubt. Let's get it all out into the open, the story of a few Average Joe Minnesotans, and these imams, and see who is believable.

The 6 Imams committed felony crimes when they set up their mock highjacking. But alas, being trapped in our Fictive Reality, and also being trapped in the long failed 2-party political system, with its Bush presidency and its Pelosi Congress, we as citizens have no recourse in this failure to prosecute such crimes, nor can we force our elites to make good on the Constitution.

Living just a few blocks from the house where Tom Burnett grew up, with my son playing on the same Jefferson High School sports teams Burnett played for, and having met his parents, watching Flight 93 is a tough pill to swallow.

Jefferson H.S., like all American high schools, is of course anti-American and implicitly Islamist. But, at least thet local school board did muster the objectivity to retire his football number (he was a successful middle linebacker) and hung his retired jersey in a small glass wall case, accompanied by a sanitized explanation to the students of what his courage fought, and what terrible cause he helped thwart in at least that one small parry by Burnett and the other men on that flight out of Newark.

The wall case display does not mention the words Islam, Moslem, or Jihad. Believe me, I walk by it all the time going into the Jeff athletic center, and read it every time I pass it in the hallway.

Didn't read the responses above, but my immediate reaction was this: John and Jane Doe, Infidels aka whistleblowers should appear in Burqas or complete head and face coverings so popular with these imams. If disguises work for the terrorists and the tyrants, why not use them when it benefits us, as well.

If the AG's office can give immunity for testimony to the Mexican drug peddler, Osbaldo Aldrete Davila, for his testimony against Ramos and Compean, then, surely, the government can shield these US citizens with immunity from the flying sueimams (soooiiiieeeemams, a call used to call the piggies to slop time).

And, if the attorneys can make sure that any possible award the sueimams win is made in pork chops, bacon, shortribs so much the better.

After all, these imams are just trying to pork the airlines.
