An update on this story. Imam Yusuf Kavakci, like Husham Al-Husainy at the Democratic National Committee winter meeting in February, echoed the Fatiha, the most common prayer in Islam and the first sura of the Qur'an -- a prayer which has been traditionally understood as condemning Jews and Christians. And Kavakci followed its wording more closely than did al-Husainy, referring to it explicitly.

The imam introduced what he was going to do: "We will pray by reading from first chapter, opening chapter, Al-Fătehah, from holy Quran, followed by recitation, traditional way of recitation of text from holy Quran, with an addition."
The he prayed:
In the name of god, Allah, the beneficent, the merciful. All praise is for Allah, our lord, the lord of the worlds, the compassionate, the merciful, master of the day of judgments. Oh, god, Allah, you alone we worship, and you alone we call on for help. Oh, Allah, guide us to the straight path, the path of those whom you have favored, not of those who have earned your wrath or of those who have lost the way. Our lord, have mercy on us from yourself and guide us in our efforts, strivings, and works."Officials said a recording of the prayer was available at this link by clicking 'You can hear the opening ceremony, including the prayer, here.'
The Fatiha asks Allah: "Show us the straight path, the path of those whom Thou hast favoured; not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray." The traditional Islamic understanding of this is that the "straight path" is Islam -- cf. Islamic apologist John Esposito's book Islam: The Straight Path. The path of those who have earned Allah's anger are the Jews, and those who have gone astray are the Christians. The classic Qur'anic commentator Ibn Kathir explains:
Allah asserted that the two paths He described here are both misguided when He repeated the negation `not'. These two paths are the paths of the Christians and Jews, a fact that the believer should beware of so that he avoids them. The path of the believers is knowledge of the truth and abiding by it. In comparison, the Jews abandoned practicing the religion, while the Christians lost the true knowledge. This is why `anger' descended upon the Jews, while being described as `led astray' is more appropriate of the Christians. Those who know, but avoid implementing the truth, deserve the anger, unlike those who are ignorant. The Christians want to seek the true knowledge, but are unable to find it because they did not seek it from its proper resources.This is why they were led astray. We should also mention that both the Christians and the Jews have earned the anger and are led astray, but the anger is one of the attributes more particular of the Jews. Allah said about the Jews,
[مَن لَّعَنَهُ اللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ]
(Those (Jews) who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath) (5:60).
The attribute that the Christians deserve most is that of being led astray, just as Allah said about them,
[قَدْ ضَلُّواْ مِن قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّواْ كَثِيراً وَضَلُّواْ عَن سَوَآءِ السَّبِيلِ]
(Who went astray before and who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the right path) (5:77).
It isn't just Ibn Kathir. Most Muslim commentators believe that the Jews are those who have earned Allah's wrath and the Christians are those who have gone astray. This is the view of Tabari, Zamakhshari, the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, the Tanwir al-Miqbas min Tafsir Ibn Abbas, and Ibn Arabi, as well as Ibn Kathir. One contrasting, but not majority view, is that of Nisaburi, who says that "those who have incurred Allah's wrath are the people of negligence, and those who have gone astray are the people of immoderation."

Governor Dewhurst opened the Texas State Senate by welcoming Imam Yusuf Kavakci's Islamic Prayer.
You can contact Lt. Governor David Dewhurst at this site and possibly explain to him what the Iman prayed for.

It is curiously noted that he practiced Law in Libya, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia before coming to North Texas in the early 90s'. His formal Islamic education was gathered in Turkey.

A great admirer of Ayatollah Khomeini,is Imam Yusuf Kavakci. He was permitted, he was allowed, he was even encouraged, by various people, including "Jewish leader" Frances Shapiro, apparently too incurious to find out just a little more about this Kavakci and about Islam, and about the Khomeini he so admires.
I'll help her out. Here's a speech by Khomeini, given early (in 1942) and from whose principles, ideas, ideals, Khomeini never wavered in the slightest:

"Islam’s jihad is a struggle against idolatry, sexual deviation, plunder, repression, and cruelty. The war waged by [non-Islamic] conquerors, however, aims at promoting lust and animal pleasures. They care not if whole countries are wiped out and many families left homeless. But those who study jihad will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world. All the countries conquered by Islam or to be conquered in the future will be marked for everlasting salvation. For they shall live under [God’s law]. ...
Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does that mean that Muslim should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers]? Islam says: Kill the [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]. Does this mean sitting back until [non-Muslims] overcome us? Islam says: Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you! Does this mean that we should surrender [to the enemy]? There are hundreds of other [Koranic] psalms and hadiths [sayings of the prophet] urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim."
Frances Shapiro was no doubt unaware of what Khomeini, so admired by Imam Kavakci, was all about. But she had a duty to find out. She had a duty to find out a lot more about Islam, about "war is deception" as a guiding principle, about the instruments of Jihad, about taqiyya, about the deliberate attempt to make Islam "seem" (only "seem") in the eyes of Infidels to fit in, at this point, with the legal and political institutions of the United States, while they are still too weak to openly reveal (though some of the hotheaded truth-tellers nicely insist on doing so, which is a good thing for Infidels), and what could be better than to have this Imam manage to appear to address the Texas Legislature? Apparently Florence Shapiro and others who supported this terrible and very damaging act, had no idea of what the whole thing was about, and probably have never read, or re-read with comprehension, the Qur'an, the Hadith, the Sira. Yet these people, who are used again and again, become indignant when attacked for their role as willing useful idiots.
Such people, the many frances-shapiros of this world, seem in their too-trusting, not-very-intelligent way to be, like Bush, believers in the notion that "all religions mean the same thing" (they don't), and "we are all essentially the same" (we aren't), and Islam is its essence a fine religion (it isn't) and because she has been told that Muslims are "fine upstanding citizens" because those she has heard of are not a burden on the state (the usual litanty about all those "engineers" and "professors" -- engineers such as "Mike" Hawash? Professors such as Sami al-Arian?) and the sheer wonderful middle-classness of America's Muslims (yes, we are repeatedly told, the situtiaon is so very different, so very much better, than in Europe, where the Europeans are responsible for the problem because they "won't allow" Muslims to "integrate" the way they do so beautifully here, with our Big Tent and Warm Hearts).
Those who sponsored this speaker were apparently unaware of how Islam, the tenets of Islam, the teachings of Islam, flatly contradcit every single principle of Western, and especially American, democracy. It is a faith that abhors the individual; a collective faith, a faith that encourages mental and every other kind of submission, a collective submission, and duties determined by the collective. It does not allow for freedom of conscience: you cannot get out of the Army of Islam. It does not allow for freedom of speech: you must say nothing, every, critical of Muhammad as a figure, or of Islam. It does not allow for equal treatment of women. It does not allow for equal treaatment of non-Muslims, and is against true pluralism, though in lands traditionally ruled by Shari'a or reasonable facsimiles thereof, non-Muslims over the centuries were permitted to survive, but required to live as dhimmis, a permanent status of humiliation (as illustrated, for example, in the required manner of payment of the Jizyah), degradation, and physical insecurity.

Even though Khomeini's many writings in the same vein, all of them available before he came to power, she shouldn't be too embarrassed. After all, neither Jimmy Carter, nor his "National Security Adviser" Zbigniew Brzezinski, nor his "Iran expert" Gary Sick, apparently had read a word of Khomeini, or knew a thing about him, except that he was a "fellow man of faith" (as Carter uriah-heepishly addressed him in his own personal letter, one Pious and Good Man of Faith to another -- Christian or Muslim, what does it matter? --so that Frances Shapiro is really no more offending, and possibly more justified, in her complete ignorance than were Carter, and Sick, and Brzezinski.
Oh, there's plenty of blame to go around for this disgusing spectacle of this man appearing before the Texas Legislature. Plenty of self-satisfied ignorance, plenty of moral preening explain those who supported the appearance of this Imam at the Texas Legislature. That unconcerned, lazy, moral preening should be mocked on every occasion. This is the perfect occasion. Those who score points, in their view, for themselves, by such acts of "tolerance," are a menace to Western societies and countries. A sinister and sly apologist such as Kavakci poses a danger to the American Republic and its not-well-informed citizenry. Not imagined. Real. Present.

I cannot BELIEVE this is not getting any attention! (ok, well, sadly, I can believe it.)
Let's just imagine for a moment how muslims would utterly and completely lose their mind and freak out, whining, crying, seething, because a GOVERNMENT OCCASSION actually SHUT OUT muslims.
How can this be?? I want an answer, and I would hope everyone in Texas would want an answer. Why is it acceptable to exclude Christians and Jews? Because Christians and Jews don't riot, blow stuff up, and kill ppl in the name of their religion, that's why. Nobody is afraid to piss off Christians and Jews. Where of course we see where everyone on the planet is afraid to piss off muslims.
I am SO SICK OF THIS SHIT! This double standard shit! And here we are, just paving the way for them all the way down the line! I used to hope that we (the Civilized West) would wake up in time to fight the parasitical cancer that is islam... But now I'm starting to think that we won't wake up in time, and it'll be our children and their children left to fight this unholy beast. And I really fear that by then, islam's tentacles will have reached too far, and we will have set up too powerful a parallel society for them, to every be able to win this battle that is truly WWIII.

Today, she serves on the Southern Regional Education Board, and the Education Commission on the States, both coalitions of elected officials and education leaders that addresses issues such as long-range planning, policy proposals and the advancement of education among the states. She was also recently appointed to the Governor's Criminal Justice Advisory Council.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Shapiro holds a bachelor's degree in secondary education. In addition to chairing the Senate Education Committee, she currently serves on the Senate Committees on Finance, as well as the Transportation and Homeland and Security Committee and Senate Administration Committee.

Shapiro is involved with Education and Homland Security in Texas. She claims there are 400,000 to 500,000 muslims living in the Dallas area implication of course is that they are a large voting block.
If you listen to the prayer of the immam closely, and to Shapiro's introduction that follows, and are not WORRIED -- you are either a Liberal feminist, a traitor, a muslim, or pretty damned stupid.
Make no mistake about this incident -- it is an assult on American culture and is a declaration by Shapiro that she intends to force islam down the throats of Texans.
Expect to see similiar incidents in other state legislatures soon. And forget about praying in "Jesus name" in public forums -- that bit of religous freedom will NOT be tolerated.

Islam needs to look in a mirror!! "Idolatry, sexual deviation, plunder, repression, and cruelty" are openly practiced by Islam EVERY DAY is many parts of the world!! I have never met a group of people so focused on sexual deviations, plunder, repression, cruelty, animalistic behavior, sloth, and hate as the Islamic fascists (Shia and Sunni)! It is Islamofascists that ruin the homes and lives of people here in Iraq. It is the non-Islamic nations of the Coalition that are doing the rebuilding and the bulk of the fending off of the fascists. Ironic, yet revealing of what tenants are truly held in both cultures and religions.
I should also note that the Iraqis ARE also fighting back both militairy and within the civilian population against the theocrats and thugs of the jihad movements. The Iraqis, by and large, want nothing to do with the jihadists and, as more than one has said, they would rather be a successful, integrated, modern country like Japan than a backwards nation like Iran or SA. It is a costly path they have chosen, but may be the first good choice they have made in decades.
And it is not just different sects killing each other as the MSM wants to show. It is also Sunni vs Sunni, Shia vs Shia, Al Qaeda Sunni vs everyone, and Iran vs everyone (but also selling weapons to the factions). Throw in a demonic mix of Jordanians, Saudis, EU and US Muslims, and Chechens and we got an orgy of ROP members slaughtering Iraqi women and children.

The muhammadan prayer is a little confusing:
"Our lord (merciful allah?), have mercy on us from yourself..."
How can the muhammadan say allah is merciful, but then say "have mercy on us from yourself?"
Maybe this corrected version will clear things up:
"O Satan, have mercy on us from yourself."

The Pariah or the Parvenu?
If you want Jews who know what's up with muhammadanism then you have to go to Israel. Believe me, the Hebrew speakers over there have NO ILLUSIONS about muhammadans.
Jews in the USA, however, are either parvenues or pariahs. Hannah Arendt explained it all much better than I ever will in "Origins of Totalitarianism."
Point is: Jews are either parvenus (Johnny-come-latelies) who are forever trying to prove themselves to their non-Jewish rivals or else they are pariahs (outsiders like Freud, Marx, Einstein) who use their outsider status to gain valuable insights into the host culture resulting in great breakthroughs.
Most Jews are parvenus like Shapiro. Too busy ingratiating themselves into the host society (and being forever insecure about it)to worry about another silly middle-eastern group of pariahs.

I pray to be wrong on this, but seems to me that we all ARE dhimmies allready. That is why our attempts to oppose jihad are futile, the enemy is never named, the truth about his ideology - never mentioned. Effectively and covertly we have been converted to dhimmi status, by using the loopholes of our own social and political system.
The only way out of this could be a rebelion, a Dhimmi Rebelion. Absolutely not a violent one, but rather one seeking a deep and radical change in public perception and expression, one that will expell "those of whom we do not speak". It has to be done the Western way, with superior morals, with respect for freedom and justice for all. For it is a war of ideas, and better morals should never be ashamed to name the sin, should never hesitate to resist evil and should not delay to reject slavery. All ideas and political views are not equal and oppression is not good under any cover. We can reject political correctness now, or wait for the sharia courts to do it.

Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston stepped off the floor of the Senate before Kavakci's prayer.
Patrick later gave a short speech on the Senate floor in which he called Kavakci's prayer an "extraordinary moment" that underscores tolerance in America.
He said other countries wouldn't do the same for Christians and Jews.

I am a Texas resident and I am absolutely outraged at this. Some have tried to spin this as "bad timing" because of how significant this week is to Christians and Jews, but I personally don't care when this type of message is spoken in Texas Senate - anytime is a bad time!! I am positive that most of the ignorant Senators had ZERO clue that this "prayer" actually meant. One Senator, Dan Patrick, has been very vocal about his disapproval for this imam's appearance, but he is one of the VERY few who has spoken up and actually represented his constituents. It was like the DNC winter meeting all over again - when will people learn!!
