Paramedic, jazz musician plead guilty to supporting al-Qaeda

Updates on Tarik Shah and Mahmud Faruq Brent. "Guilty plea in New York terror case," from Associated Press:

NEW YORK - A martial arts expert pleaded guilty Wednesday to pledging to help al-Qaida by teaching his fighting skills, the third of four defendants and the second this week to admit guilt in the case.
The deal means Tarik Shah, who also is a jazz musician, faces 15 years in prison instead of the 30 years he could have faced if convicted at trial.
Shah, 44, pleaded guilty to conspiring from October 2003 through May 2005 to provide martial arts and hand-to-hand combat with weapons training to fighters knowing that al-Qaida was engaged in terrorism.
"I agreed with others to provide material support to al-Qaida in the form of martial arts training, which I knew was wrong," he told U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein.
A prosecutor asked Shah to say he knew that al-Qaida was a terrorist group, but Shah, after a pause of several minutes to consult with his lawyer, agreed only that he knew that the U.S. had designated al-Qaida a terrorist organization.
[...]
On Monday, Shah's co-defendant Mahmud Faruq Brent Al Mutazzim, of Gwynn Oak, Md., a Washington cab driver, pleaded guilty to providing material support to the Lashkar-e-Taiba organization, which the U.S. designated a terrorist organization in 2001.
Another co-defendant, New York bookstore owner Abdulrahman Farhane, pleaded guilty in November and is to be sentenced next week.
Dr. Rafiq Abdus Sabir of Boca Raton, Fla., is the only defendant who has not pleaded guilty. He is to go to trial April 24 on charges of agreeing to treat holy warriors in Saudi Arabia.
Sabir, educated in the Ivy League, has argued through his lawyers that it was unconstitutional to prosecute a doctor for providing medical services.

More on Brent: "Paramedic pleads guilty to attending Pakistani terror camp," by Alan Feuer for the International Herald Tribune:

According to the complaint against Brent, he met with Shah in Columbia, Maryland, in 2005, and described how difficult it had been to reach the camp in Pakistan. Brent nonetheless told Shah, the complaint said, that the experience had been "one of the better decisions of my life" and that he hoped that "Allah would bless him" for his efforts.
Passport records show that Brent was in Pakistan from February to June 2002, prosecutors say.
The camp was operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba, a group loosely affiliated with Al Qaeda, whose primary goal was to fight Indian forces in the disputed province of Kashmir. The group was declared a foreign terrorist organization by the United States in December 2001.
The plea hearing on Monday in federal district court in Manhattan was attended by nearly 30 of Brent's relatives, who called out "God is great!" in Arabic and "We love you, Mahmud!" when he was brought into the room.
[...]
After the hearing, Brent's sister Attah Attulah questioned the validity of the charges that her brother faced.
"What does it mean, terrorism?" Attulah asked rhetorically. "Who defines it? You step on an ant today and that is terrorism."

Well, you're onto something there; "terrorism" is awfully vague. That's why we call it what it is -- jihad.

Look no further than your pervert of a prophet, the fiend muhammad (MHRIHF). He was a terrorist and the father of terrorists. "I have been made victorious through terror," said the evil one.

"Passport records show that Brent was in Pakistan "

....anyone going to Pakistan should be barred from returning.....

""What does it mean, terrorism?" Attulah asked rhetorically. "Who defines it? You step on an ant today and that is terrorism."

....this comes from people belonging to a "religion" that condones honor killings (you know, you kill your daughter, your sister, or your wife) for a little as an assumption or suspicion of supposed wrong doing....and then be happy about the killing....

Tarik Shah a musician? It's ok, I counter-balance that little issue. Musician is in my Jack-of-all-trades handbook.

Foehammer@MySpace Music

But I don't plan bombings against Muslims -- I just write, rant, and infrequently, compose.

Does Tarik Shah have any idea of the place of music or rather the non-place of music, in Islam? If someone tried to tell him about it, and to quote from Qur'an and Hadith and Sira, would he:

1) refuse to listen by putting his hands over both ears

2) deny that it could possibly be true because...because it just couldn't

3) claim that the texts being quoted from were false texts composed by the Mossad or the C.I.a. and that the "real" Qur'an and the "real" Hadith were actually quite favorable toward Islam

4) claim that Islam was full of famous musicians, and that in 7th century Arabia the best gigs of all, after a little bit of scuffle, were always given by appreciative audiences to that well-known group Muhammad and the Companions.

Posted by: Hugh [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 5, 2007 3:42 PM

You'd have thought he would have known that islam condemns music and especially the degenerate music of Amerika.

But then stupid is as stupid does and there is none as stupid as a revert.

'Passport records show that Brent was in Pakistan from February to June 2002, prosecutors say.'

......was he going to the "how to be an intolerant cab driver" school....

I thought terrorists in Pakistan were going after music? Didn't he get the email.. oh wait.. email is "evil" for islamofascists, unless they are the 'elites' and then they can have all the western trappings they want.

Poor little fool... lied to by Immams, lied to by a sadistic cult... lied to by his handlers in the US. And soon to be on the receiving end of a lot of "socialization" in prison...

It is a curious allure that "martial arts" hold for Muslims.
I was watching a Shia Iranian who "helped bring down the Shah" in his gym and the martial arts had nothing to do with the Shaolin inner peace of say kung fu, but was a strange mixture of beating drums to fire up the practitioners who struck my senses as being inept, but with a great deal of passion to murder.

Much of Islam is this way and reflects al Qaeda to the Qod forces. They are more concerned about the mystique than the effort. The name martial arts means to them 1 killer can drive off a hundred thousand like in a 007 movie. They never quite equate that you just do not become a master by wearing a robe.

The reason Islam uses assassin tactics is because they are at heart cowards and get that way from the real knowledge that they know they are inept for a real fight. Iran had killed half a million people fighting against Saddam's military. (Readers are reminded what Americans did to the Iraqi army and should conclude just how worthless the Iranian forces are too.)

In the old days, this type of behavior would be called a secondary high where trippers would get high off of someone talking about an acid rush they had. Muslims "get high" off of primitive theater meant to evoke emotion and sitting around telling themselves how fierce they are.
In most cases though, they go home to mother who tells them to take out the trash before she feed them...and that ends the drama.

Tarik plays the swinet in a jazz group....oh, the swinet is an instrument made by stretching a string across a pig's arse and it is played by plucking the string with the front teeth.

Posted by: pismopal [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 5, 2007 4:50 PM

Tarik also plays the ooompa...its unique sound is made when Tarik pokes his manhood into the pigs arse at a very rapid pace....

The answer is to those who know, as you do, is islam.

I find most do not understand the link , and a direct link for the masses, of jihad to islam, should indeed be direct.

Jihad is a "piller" of islam.

He was just aware of al-qaeda's "designation" by the US as a terrorist organization? She doesn't know what terrorism means?
How clever and politically astute. As George Orwell wrote in "1984": "Political language ... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind."

Posted by: jewdog [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 5, 2007 7:30 PM

@ jewdog

Yep. Reminds me of that spokesman from CAIR who, when asked if he considered Hamas and Hezbollah to be terrorist organizations said, "We aren't a government - we can't make that designation."

Abdullah, so you do believe that Muslim countries have despotic rulers. so is this who you believe is persecuting innocent Muslims?

Posted by: xena the dog [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 6, 2007 12:17 AM

Abdullah,
The Muslims are free to leave. If shariah is so important to you, then you should go back to the shariah governed cesspools, err, paradises where you came from.

As far as "persecution is concerned, I believe that we should do the same thing to Muslim immigrants that you are doing to the Copts (who were there first) in Egypt, the Maronites (who were there first) in Lebanon, the Christians (who were there first) in Bethlehem and the black Christians and animists (who were there first) in places such as Darfur.

"Sabir, educated in the Ivy League, has argued through his lawyers that it was unconstitutional to prosecute a doctor for providing medical services."

I had a civics course many years ago. One of the things we studied was the U.S. Constitution. I do not recall anything about "medical services" in it.

But OK. Give him what he wants. Deport him to Saudi Arabia so he can treat whomever he wants.

Abdullah,

You need to put your money where your mouth is, though you will have to extricate your foot first. Come to Iraq and fight us here.

Come to Iraq and die in shock as the IRAQIS kill you or point you out to us to be killed. You will see all of your hate and lies perish in a single second as several bullets rip into your putrid body and deliver your soul to Hell. Bullets fired from the guns of Iraqis and the Coalition as they fight side by side against your ilk.

News flash Ab’duh’, the Iraqis, from all "sects" want NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU and your little demonic vision of a world wide Islamic dictatorship. The despise you and you little terrorist friends (who we are killing by the thousands). The Iraqis themselves are doing more and more of the fighting against you and your deluded, power mad, phallic obsessed 'brothers'.

Even those who come here thinking that this is an 'infidel' vs muslim fight soon find out it is the Coalition and Iraqis vs the islamofascists of Al Qaeda/Iran/Syria/Jordan/SA. One Saudi was interviewed on SA TV and had some interesting quotes. This is from Mem-Ri.

http://switch5.castup.net/frames/20041020_MemriTV_Popup/video_480x360.asp?ai=214&ar=861wmv&ak=null

It is interesting in what he said, even with the SA censors taking out parts. He believed, as you seem to Abby ‘gata’, that he was on some just crusade to kill the infidels. Then he got here and found out, too late, that the real enemy is the terrorists and their mad lust for power. Now he has severe burns and no fingers as he was made the unwitting driver of a failed truck bomb. Yet we ‘infidels’ ran up and saved his life. That in itself says more than your small mind will ever be able to comprehend.

As I said before, the IRAQIs are fighting your ilk. They are shocked and horrified to learn that you are living in luxury in Europe, and others in America, while you send money and supplies to the islamofascists that are killing Iraqis. And then they are angry…. Very angry.

Come to Baghdad and witness that Anger Abdullah. I will even walk you to Assassin’s Gate and let you go to the Haditha market (which was destroyed in February by two car bombs). Come and see the fruits of your deluded hate and insane racism. Come to Iraq and tell the Iraqis you supported the islamofascists that kill their children, bomb their hospitals and markets, and mortar their schools.

Come and face their wrath.

And have a pleasant day.

"When is this persecution of the innocent Muslims going to stop?"

....Hey Abby, take a look around the world, it is the Muslims who are doing the persecuting....Things may change when the Muslims decide to become normal people and join the real world instead of living the dreams of a 7th century caravan raider...
