17 dead in 2 bombings in Algeria

By Aomar Ouali for Associated Press:

ALGIERS, Algeria - Bombs targeting the prime minister's office and a police station killed at least 17 people and wounded dozens on Wednesday in Algeria, the country's official news agency said.
Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem called the attack a "cowardly, criminal terrorist act" as he spoke to reporters outside his wrecked offices. Six floors of the building were partially ripped away, and the iron gates outside were bent by the force of the blast.
The attacks were a devastating setback for the North African nation's efforts to close the chapter on its Islamic insurgency that has killed 200,000 people. After years of relative calm, an al-Qaida affiliate recently has recently waged several smaller attacks.
Belkhadem declined to say how many had been killed or wounded. The official APS agency reported that the bombing of the government building killed at least nine people and injured 32, and that eight others were killed and 50 wounded in the attack on the police station of Bab Ezzouar, east of the capital, on the road to its airport.
A charred, wrecked car lay on the pavement about 98 feet from the gates of the government building — a modern white, block-like high-rise that also houses the Interior Ministry. It was not immediately clear if the car had been involved in the bombing.
Police cordoned off stairs leading up to the government building with orange police tape, and paramedics raced up the steps with stretchers. Paramedics escorted a man with blood on his head into an ambulance. Another woman, looking dazed and in tears, was checked for head injuries.
The explosion at about 10:45 local time caused windows to rattle at least a half-mile away. Few details were immediately available about the other attack east of the capital.
Algeria's insurgency broke out in 1992, after the army canceled legislative elections that an Islamic party appeared set to win.
Since then, violence related to the insurgency has left an estimated 200,000 dead — civilians, soldiers and Islamic fighters — according to the government. Algeria's military led a crackdown on militants hiding out in the country's brush and mountains, while the government tried to reconcile the nation with several amnesty offers to militants willing to turn in their weapons.
Belkhadem expressed bitterness at insurgents who refused the amnesty offers.
"The Algerian people stretched out a hand to them, and they respond with a terrorist act," he said.

Not at all surprising.

Somebody in Algeria's Army had some foresight in 1992, didnt they!

Will France again send its military in to protect the people....probably not, they cannot even protect Paris....

And just think, they want to build a tunnel linking Europe with Africa. Hey Euro’s the Spanish are out to get you. Maybe it’s revenge for Euro’s abandoning them to the Nazis back in the 30’s.

A tunnel to hell brought to you by Spanish dhimmis.

Islam + democracy = Sharia.

Sharia + Sharia + Sharia = Caliphate.

Le Figaro is reporting that the Islamic "insurgents" in Algeria are now in league with those of other regions, such as Chechnya.

I think I read a while back that the Algerian thugs had signed a pact of some sort with AQ. This is full-scale terrorist war on the Europe's very doorstep.

" a tunnel linking Europe with Africa"

with infidel money , no doubt...

....it is an effort in futility...it will be blown up by the Muslims...

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 9:59 AM

p.s. the Algerian mob is calling itself "al-Qaida au Maghreb", literally the AQ in North Africa. And Marseilles is literally an Algerian colony on European soil. Clearly, the French are going to need to do some "reaching out".

Posted by: Minority of One [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 9:59 AM

exsgbrown ... why would they blow up such a tunnel? It would provide an excellent high-speed conduit for their "insurgents" to get into al-Andalousia. Property values should be set to rise in the neighborhood around al-Hambra in al-Granada.

Insurgents reproduce by a process of 'cell' division.

*drum hit*

This is what they were talking about-genocide! This piss's me off! To see innocent people killed and no one does NOTHING!!! It will happen again! Where is anyone in this matter!? Even the cameras of NEWS, Nato, United Nations, France, Germany, Russia! While we have our hands tied all these people just watch! They too have blood on their hands! The dhimmimcrats have had so many golden "opportunities" to do something anything! Instead we have a house devided against itself trying to introduce muslim thinking into our system of living! Which I do not want!
The blacks here finding something to get mad about and it is the word nappy! Don't they get upset when they see this more!?
The blacks here could resolve that problem over there buy and invest! They all would come out ahead! Why the United Nations never do anything is a real mystery!

"... why would they blow up such a tunnel?"

...press coverage...fear factor...and just because...

....Muslims love big explosions, except when it is happening to them...

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 10:17 AM

Cutting off extended hands is perfectly "normal" in Islam.

Why are the moderate Algerian Muslims so surprised?

The Mecca of all Mohammedans, "Saudi" Arabia, hands out such punishments on a regular basis.

A basically sadistic "creed" will only spawn the same.

Time to Islam reform out the psychopathic elements, or perish of them.

Posted by: profitsbeard [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 10:20 AM

It’s not all blacks, all of callers (blacks) on talk radio yesterday were angry at the raphos for their portrayal of blacks. This is what the mmm want to hide from you. The fact is dullton has instigated the killings of Jews and the burning of their businesses in the past. Sound familiar, it should. So it should be no surprise that the mmm support him. Besides the idiot only said what I hear as I change the dial on the radio everyday. You see, the islamocrats are anti semites and racists as well, they just want to give the illusion they are not. They need their votes, their motto; Keep em down and fake em out. If red white and blue blacks ever figure it out the islamocrats are finished.

What I want to know is, why was the 1992 democratic election that the Islamic salvation army won cancelled by the algerian government?

The people chose Islam but the western backed government was having none of it. Damn the west is a TRUE SPONSOR of democratic-terror (dictators who oppress thier people)

Posted by: Abdullah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 10:35 AM

Quit blaming others for you pathetic excuse for civilization. I think you should get together with some Hindu’s you probably will learn a few things. Who knows, if you are lucky maybe they will make a phallic symbol out of wood and give it to you as a gift.

Posted by: tgusa [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 10:47 AM

Um, can you have a democratic election in Islam??

Posted by: igetit [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 11:04 AM

"why was the 1992 democratic election that the Islamic salvation army won cancelled by the algerian government?"

...the 1992 election was not cancelled by the government...it was cancelled by the military who had staged a government takeover....They Feared a Muslim takeover...

.........It resulted in a revolt that killed well over 200,000 people...

.....The mulsims would have probably killed that many anyway, maybe not is such a short period of time...

.....history shows that once Muslims take over, the extermination of all Non Muslims begins...the ethnic cleansing of all other non Muslim religions begins...

....whenever Muslims are involved (in any way), the body count begins....

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 11:06 AM

“history shows that once Muslims take over, the extermination of all Non Muslims begins”

The islamocrats will meet with the enemy but forget about the President. One consolation, if the islamists succeed in their mission these types will not be around to bother us anymore. They will be on TV getting their heads cut off, the Islamic version of survivor, no one wins in the end.

“finding something to get mad about”

With all of the offensive anti American garbage coming out of the so called institutes of higher learning on a daily basis I really don’t care what some students and teachers are offended by. I’m offended daily and have been for decades of course one look at me and they will say I deserve it. Their view of America, free speech for me but not for thee. My suggestion, grow a spine you modern university wimps you will need one in the horrid future you advocate. These are our universities, we paid for them over the decades, you are allowed to use them at our leisure. None of you students have paid squat in taxes to build any of them. Looking for the scum of the earth just visit your local university many of them are collecting a salary there.
BTW the pretend cowboy has a radio show that no one listens to so who really cares if he repeats what he hears every day.

Amnesty to Islam is like a cold bath to a pneumonia patient. They both get you did quickly and you don't live long enough to know it was a stupid idea.

Posted by: Lame Cherry [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 1:23 PM

so how can left wing socialists in europe blame this bombing on george bush's policy in the middle east?

the left are notably quiet when muslims slaughter muslims, far away from iraq, algeria, sudan and somalia, the phillipines and thailand, the list grows each year, only when the marxist elite are being targeted then they will act with the same vengeance as stalin.

we in the west need to vote out, end the socialists stranglehold on hte media and beack bench politics. we need a strong right wing government, so vote in the british national party, Le Pen, Dutch freedom party, the American Loyalist Party and do not donate to PBS and cancel your BBC license.

if we end socialism then islam will fall in hte west.

abdullah the paedophile, get ready for the BNP, you will be shipped out once "our boys" get in power, thats after (if) you are released from belmarsh high security prison for inciting religious and racial hatred on this board against non muslims. (yes i forwarded your posts to MI5/MI6 and the british home office.) you are inciting terror.

Posted by: leonthepigfarmer [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 1:32 PM

I'd love to know how many of these terrorists were descendents of Amazigh, with some even being descendetns of Christian Amazigh tribes, whose state of mind led them to believe they are Islamic Arabs.

The only people there who are willing to take a stand against the FIS, GIA and other terrorist leaders are probably going to be those Amazigh tribes, including the Kabyles and hopefully some of the Chawis and Saharan Amazigh as well. Just like in Lebanon the only people trustworthy to stand up to Hezbollah and not treat them as heroes are the Maronite Catholics, and in Sudan the only people likely to take a strong stand against Omar-Bashir's Islamic Front are black africans in the Noba mountians, Darfur and the South, and of course in Iraq the only natives trustworthy to work against the impending islamization are the Assyrians and the most secular of Kurds. Begs the question, why are there no Western leaders ANYWHERE who as of yet know enough about these divisions to encourage the victims of Islamic Arabs to force their countries away from Islamism, as opposed to standing by, watching and hoping the "moderate" islamized Arabists take a stand against these types of terrorists. What's most likely to happen in Algeria, Lebanon, Iraq and the Sudan is more underserved rewards and incentives to the fanatics as long as we keep doing what we're doing.

You're quite correct in linking socialist agenda to a terrifying lack of will in the ongoing struggle against the jihad,

It's very largely due to the entitlement nature of Europe's need to import labor from N. Africa and the ME to pay for their aging and indolent. Much as with the Hispanic invasion in the US.

But aside from some serious gang problems, our latino brothers do not wish us harm.

So Algeria (like Nigeria) is another teetering domino to the da'ar.

Posted by: turn [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 11, 2007 1:47 PM

I don't know much about the various aforementioned N. African tribes but I do know the route the Maronites of Lebanon have and are taking--self-exile to safer climes.
