He's a nice guy. How could he possibly be a jihadist?
By David Ashenfelter in the Detroit Free Press:
DETROIT - Ask friends and associates of Kifah Jayyousi to describe the former Detroit schools administrator, and they'll use words like "nice" and "respected," totally opposite of how federal prosecutors are expected to portray him in a high-profile terrorism trial starting next week in Miami.Prosecutors say Jayyousi, who obtained advanced engineering degrees from Wayne State University and taught there, helped create a North American network that recruited, bankrolled and equipped Islamic extremists to fight overseas.
Jayyousi's court-appointed lawyer says his client is a law-abiding American who is guilty of nothing more than expressing controversial - but constitutionally protected - views....
The Miami trial has attracted international media attention because one of Jayyousi's co defendants is Jose Padilla, 36, a former Chicago gang member whom the Bush administration once accused of plotting to detonate a radioactive bomb in the United States.
The judge who will try the case, U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke, is a former federal prosecutor and magistrate from Detroit. Cooke has called the government's case "light on facts."
Jayyousi's lawyer, Detroit attorney William Swor, said the charges are a result of prosecutorial overkill.
"This is a man who published a newsletter, who came to the government's attention because the views he was espousing were unpopular and unflattering to the government," Swor said.
"He's not guilty of anything except believing that America means what it says when it talks about freedom of speech and freedom of religion."...
Jayyousi, Padilla and Adham Amin Hassoun, 44, a Sunrise, Fla., computer programmer, are charged with conspiring to kidnap, maim and murder by providing money, recruits and equipment for Islamic struggles in Bosnia, Kosovo and Chechnya from 1993 to 2001. The charges carry maximum penalties of life in prison upon conviction.

The reason to stop all immigration is to avoid borderline cases, whether this one is or not.
Most cases are short on facts to prosecute. That is why you don't have immigration when the legal system is less than omniscient and prescient.
Virgil Goode Right: Stop Muslim Immigration
The problem of sentencing if the jury convicts doesn't come up either. Judges have little leeway to dismiss cases. Juries may be confused about many issues. The judge may have little leeway on the sentence because of the sentencing guidelines.
Prosecutors may feel under pressure to bring cases. There may be people the government knows about but can't do anything about. With an imperfect legal system, immigration system, etc. the safe solution is zero immigration.
This applies to asylum seekers and refugees from Iraq, Somalia, etc.

You know all that nonsense you here about an “American Beslan?”
DETROIT - Ask friends and associates of Kifah Jayyousi to describe the former Detroit schools administrator…
It’s impossible that it will EVER happen here! Why? Because, we don’t allow terrorists into the country. They’ll never be given the chance to be in position that will allow them access to our kids.
Prosecutors say Jayyousi, who obtained advanced engineering degrees from Wayne State University and taught there, helped create a North American network that recruited, bankrolled and equipped Islamic extremists to fight overseas.
It is only the crazy right-wing-wacko-nut-jobs, who insist that there are any terrorists who mean to do anyone harm.
The Miami trial has attracted international media attention because one of Jayyousi's co defendants is Jose Padilla, 36, a former Chicago gang member whom the Bush administration once accused of plotting to detonate a radioactive bomb in the United States
The reality is, that no one is out to get us! The few incidents that happen once in a great while are the result of extremists who are trying to make a name for themselves; not the result of insiders that were given high-level positions and used those positions to turn against us.

The lawyer representing six imams who are suing an airline and unknown "John Doe" passengers should be removed from his position as a New York City commissioner on human rights, said a state assemblyman.
So you see, this notion that terrorist activities are the result of various “inside jobs;” his is all nut-wing conspiracy stuff! Is there anybody in their right mind stupid enough to believe otherwise?
Mr. Bloomberg in 2002 appointed Mr. Mohammedi to the commission, which enforces the city's human rights laws, holds hearings and investigates complaints of racial, religious and ethnic discrimination. It also is empowered to make recommendations to the mayor.
Never mind the facts! Alice in Wonderland wasn’t concerned about facts, so why should we be concerned about facts?
We must insist on importing more muslims from the Middle-East to take American jobs! Who cares if they know anything!
We’ll take scholarships away from American college kids and get it to the muslim kids so they can work here in America. The US government will even give us tax benefits for doing it!
The only thing that is important is that they work cheap, and we can take pride in the fact that we are a diverse, multiculturally diverse country – even if it kills us!
After all the only thing that matters is THIS quarter’s profits – and that is what counts with the shareholders!
(Too bad so many people in US and Britian actually reason this way -- I think we're screwed if people refuse to wake up; fail to get their priorites correct, and don't come back to reality.)

One with an advanced engineering degree from Wayne State University, another a computer programmer, see how jihadists are now well trained, skilled and educated.
Gone are the days when some uncouth villager was recruited to do allah's dirty work. Now you have savvy, well groomed men and women, almost indistguishable from the cosmopolitan Western middle classes joining in.
These are the sleeping cells of allah - ready to spring into action when called upon to defend him, silently sowing the seeds of hatered towards Israel - at parties, at social gatherings with other chaterring classes, at universities and in interviews with the media. A quite word in the ear of an author, a megistrate, a councillor etc, against the zionist here and a quite word for the poor suppressed palestinians in the ear of a school teacher, an actor etc all goes towards building a public opinion against Israel and the US.
I was surpised (although I should have known better) to learn of how many Iranians there are here in Britain - teaching in our universities, holding important fellowships and with important connections. Many of them were called upon to give their perspective on the recent iranian hostage crises. All of them, bar none, were rubbishing (albeit in a polite and understated manner that they have culivated just for these sorts of occassions - and our BBC news editors just loves these types) British governments efforts in securing the sailors' release. All of them vilified the UK government for going to the UN, for taking up the issue with other EU members, and for thretening Iran with further sactions. One of these Iranians - a woman teaching international affairs (or something like that) at Oxford University no less, even implied that kidnapping was not just the prerogative of the Iranians, that muslim man, women and children were being kidnapped by Israel and US almost on a daily basis! What! This from a person teaching international affairs at one of the most influential universities in the land. Can you imagine what she must be teaching her students?
You know where you stand with the likes of Abu Izzadeens of this world. But these apparently well educated, well versed and semingly moderate muslims are the silent killers.

Hmmmm...something alarming about the text of jayyousi's statements of his client(s), almost as if an old rehashed orchestrated script...something I've heard somewhere before, by someone else before...
...oh, yeah, lynne stewart. No wonder alarm bells are going off all over the place here.
Interesting...most interesting.

from the article: "He's not guilty of anything except believing that America means what it says when it talks about freedom of speech and freedom of religion."...
Jayyousi, Padilla and Adham Amin Hassoun, 44, a Sunrise, Fla., computer programmer, are charged with conspiring to kidnap, maim and murder..."
i.e. in order for Muslims to practice freedom of religion, their rights to incite murder as well as to actually kidnap, maim and murder infidels must be protected. Talk about inadvertently letting the cat out of the bag.
