Malmö, Sweden has won notoreity in recent years for being an Islamic enclave within the country, into which police, firefighters and emergency personnel only venture at the sufferance of the local Muslim authorities.
Tonight, Jihad Watch reader Elias has alerted me to the fact that Muslims are rioting there. Here is a story in Swedish, and more pictures are here.
Anyone with more details, please send them in.
UPDATE: A tea-loving snail has kindly sent in this rough translation of the Swedish article linked above:
Malmo Riot with fires and stone throwingPolice and firemen were set upon by stone and egg throwing in Ramels Way on Friday evening. The situation worsened and became so serious that the fire brigade dared not enter the neighbourhood without police escort.
A sizeable gang of children and teens set upon police who were answering a report at half-past seven that a man wielding a sword was chasing children. The police didn't find the swordsman but got a report of a threat. Whilst the police were responding to the report, the stone throwing began. After a while there came another order for them to go to the square. The police tried backing off to try and calm
the situation, but to no avail.The youths got help from additional friends so that there was by 10:30pm a gang of about fifteen or so youths in their early teens.
Stones, eggs and a glass bottle were thrown at the police but no one was hurt.
However, at least one police car was damaged and the police wrote a report on the violence towards the officer.
When the fire brigade came to fire in a shop on Ramels Way, they too were on the receiving end of stone throwing. Because of this unrest, emergency services arrived and advised the fire brigade to wait for the police to come before they drove further into the neighbourhood. The emergency service sent for reinforcements in case of other alarms, the emergency service wrote in a press report.
At eleven o'clock, two other store buildings were on fire in Ramels Way, the fire brigade drove forward to Shellmacken by the roundabout, but stayed there and waited for the police. A sizeable police contingent came to the assistance of the firemen, who then drove in and put the fires out. However, the stone throwing started up again but no one was injured and no one arrested.
An hour later yet another store was on fire in Ramels Way. The procedure of waiting for the police was repeated, but the fire grew stronger and the firemen were forced to send for reinforcements.
Stone throwing also was directed against a boutique which had called for the police about ten o'clock. When the police patrol got there, the stone throwing became worse, but then died off without anyone being hurt.

I spent 2 weeks in Malmo when I was a HS grad,on my world tour.
In 76 every one had a "pet black" and cultural was all open and have some.
I wont be going back , I spoke to some one in Malmo about 5 year ago when padre died they were , "unconcerned about muslims'.

Are there own countries that bad that they are willing to blindly come to a country without knowledge of its infrastructure like it never exists because maybe their countries have failed to even think about these people. Yes some are from war zones but I bet they don't give a hoot about the infidel country once they start bickering about the non-believing cultures. It’s a shame its not a problem halved a problem shared, its more like we will bring you the problems deal with it.

In conversations with the Europeans under literal fire and the Islamic thugs behind this, there is the strangest sheep among the wolves mentality.
The Europeans are armed with bats trying desperately to cope with the shock that socialist utopia is not protecting them and the Muslims are rather amused by it as they rob the Europeans at will in what is a game to them which they view their victims with contempt.
The Europeans are indeed victims in it's contemptuous literal meaning of a people allowing a situation to overtake them and not fighting back. There is no more sheep of a creature than a European right now in they just allow themselves to be ravaged and just blink perplexed and go home and hide.
They honestly deserve it as how can anyone have compassion on a people who will not even defend themselves.
The worst of it is to come when the central European Muslims start their civil wars in Germany and France at the behest and instigation of Moscow and Iran. Then the fight will come to Europe from inside and out.
I do believe though that the Muslims will find a different people in France and Germany than Scandanavia in the masses of Gauls and Assyrians.
It will bloody there and when the French and Germans regain their nations they will then make sport of the Muslims as only have been known to in history of all peoples they conquer.
Islam will rue the day they ever started poking at the west again as once the peoples who butchered Roman legions and slaughtered Russian hordes wake up it will be a nightmare for the world.

TheSwedes/scandinavians also bear ancestry from the Rus, Vikings, etc...many of which settled in Alba (present-day Scotland).
...it will likely take more to get them to snap, but when it does, watch out.
In the mean time, until they finally awaken from their utopianesque socialist slumber, there will be more, and worse, episodes to come.
As Lame Cherry keemly points out this fact of human nature (if I may elaborate a touch more), everyone has a threshhold, as was proven by early Christiandom (it took 300 years after the mOslem "crusade", THE "first crusade")...when they finally woke up and started fighting BACK.
This go-round, I highly doubt it will be 300 years before they awaken.

The Swedes are getting what they asked for, just as the French, Germans, and most other European countries, are getting what they asked for.
We in the U.S. have ample evidence of the dangers of Muslim immigration from the European experience. That evidence tells us that Islam and Democracy are incompatible, and we can have no reasonable expectation that Muslims, so long as they accept the doctrines of their Islamic faith as the unalterable word of God, can ever be loyal to the principles that we live by.
In view of this evidence, what is our government's response?: We import even more Muslims -- and someday we'll get what we ask for.

As Canada sees a growing Muslim population it has become obvious that the claims by Islamic leaders that these acts of violence and riots
will be avoided because the Social equity in Canada is fairer , is a outright lie and cover story to appease the sleep-walkers accepting the tripe from CAIR about Peace and Human Rights witin islam.
Poverty and unemployment have nothing to do with these riots, it's the self-segregated Islamists that teach an elitism and Allah given Right to claim the Earth for Islam and rule by Sharia law.
CAIR-Canada has even tried to excuse away the Jihadists arrested in canada as being incited by Global injustice to their Brothers in Palestine and Gitmo bay , seems that everyone else is to blame except the actual Muslims killing for Allah.

The French response to the riots was to do absolutely nothing at all. Then they charged the cops who chased the Darwin Award winners into the power substation. Then they built a memorial for them.

Time will tell whether it's "nonsense" or not.
Humans are natural predators, but some tribes aquired the practice more than others.
Your take on events in France is incomplete since no mention of french citizens counter-rioted against the islamists in several instances.
Assuming someone/something *won't* occur has proven historically destructive, and at times, fatal for many societies...and you know what they say about assumptions.
Just ask the french who lived through May-June 1940 when they assumed something wouldn't happen.
As I stated before elsewhere...read Sun Tzu.
Let's wait until push comes to shove before making such a conclusion that something WON'T happen...but that's another forum scope entirely. ;-)

The West never fails to miss an opportunity to confront the muslim hordes. With Europe leading the typical do-nothing response to burgeoning Muslim violence, these important stories are overlooked by the general public, much to our detriment.
There seems to be no stomach to standing up to the evil and violent leaders of this scourge. They have pushed us, and we have conceded more ground. The story is the same everywhere.
I keep asking what we are going to do besides talk. When are we going to end Muslim emigration? When are we going to hold Islam responsible for it's "crimes against humanity"? People are being killed all over the world in the name of Islam, and for some bizarre reason, Islam gets a free pass.
It's great to vent at a forum, but there's still no plan, no movement, no response and no action whatsoever being taken to stop this evil in its' tracks. Too many good men and women have chosen to do nothing.

PC is a relilgion and is based on a faith that denies reality. What disagrees with their fate, they deny, if a person they banish.
This religion has deep roots and is not going to go away because of any facts. They will blame everything that happens on those who resist, even by speaking up.

Passivity and ennui can be 'bred' into people just as a warlike nature may--depends on nurture more than nature. The current state among most of Europe is that there is nothing worth risking your life for--let the 'authorities' handle the problem; after all, they handle all other social issues.
The 'victim' experiences harm and expects his society to somehow make it right. The 'fighter' experiences harm and does his utmost to inflict harm so that it is not experienced again. The 'leader' makes clear to the populace that this is the nature of things and that there is but one good choice to make.
For so long as islam is considered a religion--a 'faith'--tolerant and multicultural Europe will excuse its actions and goals. A redefining of what it really is will take many more riots in Malmo and car-b-ques in Paris.
The unholy trinity of socialism, multiculturalism and islamism will need to be recognized before it can be fought.
Russia is not behind all of these troubles, nor is any other state actor. The elites of Europe that 'know' what is 'best' and the 'slammi imams are to blame.

Unfortunately, the only advantage that the US enjoys over Europe currently, is the reality that socialism has not yet placed a strangle-hold on the former as it has, the latter, an advantage soon to be squandered if "Lady Macbeth", and her secratary of state, "Fancy" Nancy Pelosi, Ms. "stylish headgear to fit all occasions", have anything to say about the matter.

As an Italian, I can tell you that Europe is truly f#$%^$! Europe has already been defeated. There is an ABSOLUTE refusal by our media and politicians to admit that this is a serious problem. You cannot even speak of it without being labeled a racist. Once again, this is not a race. This is a religious idea! This is some twisted interpretation of religion. We are "frozen." Dying with a whimper!
I go on and on about Western Civilization; however, who will stand up and fight? Some are trying....At least a little bit. The Americans are the only ones to take this seriously. Where the hell are the Americans? Set the world on fire cousins! Where are you? Do NOT let this take root on your own shores!

Big deal!!! So some Muslims want to riot in Sweden! Who cares!! I am a Michigan State alumnus. I went to school there when the mens basketball team went to three consecutive final fours around the turn of the century. The first year they beat Kentucky to make it into the final four... we rioted in celebration. They lost to Duke in the national semi final and we rioted in anguish. Before that even a year or so earlier they banned tailgating on a particular atheletic field near the football stadium and you guessed it. We rioted!!! Couches burning, flipped cars, damaged property, tear gas from the police. the whole lot. We were quite an unruly lot back in those days.
My whole point is, the Muslims of Malmo are rioting. Who cares! They're morons. They are only drawing attention to their savage ways and one of these days the Swedes will wake up. The French and Danes and Germans will wake up. Europe will wake up, and it WILL NOT be too late.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Well the good men are starting to take notice. And the rioters are helping them immensely in this process

The western male will be forced out of his stupor by economic reality.
The top 10% of the US taxpayers pay 67% of the taxes. The bottom 50% of taxpayers pay only 3.4% of taxes. Many voters are elderly and are not counted in the 50%. Per Tom Coburn, the yet to be nativized new Senator who is a M.D. from Oklahoma, we already have $70 trillion in unfunded liabilities, increasing at $3 trillion per year (compare with Iraq's $166 billion per year). The electorate will vote for more benefits and to concentrate the taxes on the super-rich, who can move to Costa Rica in protest. Europe is in worse shape than the US. The social safety net will fail and many will go hungry. That will be the wake-up.
Any reasonable Muslim male would be moving his family out of Europe. The US might be 5-10 years behind. The Viking DNA is a little dusty, but hasn’t gone anywhere.

I've not read "America Alone, but. I have read "While Europe Slept" by Bruce Bawer. The book focused mainly on the Nederlands and Oslo. I'm sure it applies elsewhere. I am well aware of the situation there. I am also aware of the spirit of man and the resilency of the European. Are you folks just going to surrender your societies without a fight? I doubt it. Rather, I'd reckon there will be a rather nasty fight. The Gert Wilders of the world will prevail. I have little doubt of that. It will not be pretty. One day the French are going to wake up and find that their precious Eiffle Tower has been bombed, and then, It's ON!!! I doubt it will even come to that.
For what it is worth, I read in Mr. Bawers book that Switzerland is 20 percent Muslim. That is not true. Just because someone writes something does not make it so. From what I have read Switzerland indeed has 20 percent immigrants, but only 4% Muslim. If Switzerland were 20 percent Muslim, they'd be having far more problems than they already do.
So let us not just believe everything that these folks, as well meaning as there are, write. There is an important message being written, to be sure, but misleading facts help no one.
You say Europe is already defeated. I say hardly. The battle really has just begun. The politicians and media may be arrogant, but guess what, they are outnumbered by the people and the people are waking up to the insanity that surrounds them.

In the US, the typical low-skill immigrant is a Hispanic working in entry-level jobs. Regardless of one’s view of Hispanic immigration, they are by-and-large good-natured and at work. The average low-skill household (native whites included) costs the taxpayer $1.3 million:

It is a mistake to expect Robert Spencer to be policing the threads constantly.
It is also a mistake to let some anonymous moby-jerk ("idn batutta") yank your chain. Do you even know that "idn-batutta" is Jewish? Even if she or he is nominally Jewish, on what basis does he represent other, or all, Jews?

Let's look at this from another point of view.
Ronin, I respect anyone that serves their country. You have to put this in perspective. Not all in Europe are like what you see in our media. "Socially progressive" has failed. Most know this. They just do not want to admit it. Also, there is jealousy amongst the Europeans towards a country they call their "child." The fact is that the European "experiment" has failed. America thrives even during these times. Few will say it; however, Europeans do fear a weak America. Let's face facts - Europe, Australia, and America are all that is left of Western Civilization. ThinkForYourself, we and I do not believe everything we read. However, the EU does its own demographics and the facts are the facts. Our birthrate is less than 2 children per European woman. The Muslim women have a birthrate over three. It does not take a genius to figure out the problems with that. The fact is my country will be nothing more than a living museum in 50 years. We are an aging society.
All, as a child I loved reading about the Roman Empire. I see parallels between then and now. The Western Roman Empire could not control its borders. In the end, corruption and apathy brought Rome to its own demise. They could not even raise an army to properly defend themselves. Sound familiar?
I worry about your country as well. We get CNN on the satellite. I see and hear the same "Political Correctness" creeping in to your society as well. I read, see, and hear, the same unwillingness to admit that this new style of "Jihad" is a problem.
As you have said, "Don't believe everything you read." Please do not believe everything you hear about Europe. We are not all weak. I know many that will never kneel in a Mosque.

It vexes me to read of these new events in Sweden. I have always had a soft-spot for Scandinavia -- and a suspicion that I have some of that Viking blood in my Irish ancestry. I really pray that the Swedes come to their senses and find some of the old steel and drive the barbarians into the cold waters. But I know I'm just airing pipe-dreams -- the odds of any of Europe expelling the Muslims becomes less and less with each passing day.
Patton was once good friends with the royals of Sweden. I know what advice he would offer today if he were alive, and it most certainly wouldn't be politically correct.

But we have the demographic problem, as you mention. Even if there warren't a Muslim problem the demographic problem would be a great cause for concern. I used to live in Sweden for 7 yeras in the late 90's and I can tell you that Malmo is 20% muslim.
Now, if the theory of the recently visiting Israeli professor/author to Sydney,Australia holds true ( about 10% being the critical mass before a violent social explosion occurs ), the poor Swedes are in for a real treat .

I have gotten quite an education on this site. I ask everyone who passes through who understands the gravity of the Islamic ideological threat to our way of life and freedom to not only chime in with opinion, but take public and civil action to lead the general populace to an awareness and understanding of what is at stake.
Most of you have a printing press on your desk. You can take any article that speaks to you and you know in your heart is right and others in your neighborhood and region need to know about it. Put it physically in thier space.

An interesting point by a poster above that Switzerland has not received it's "Fair share of Muslim rioting".
In the last world war it did not either received its fair share of Nazi aggression, since it was the foremost banker of Nazi looted money.
Today it the foremost banker of Saudi oil moneys and the UBS bank is said to have been the Bank of Osama Bin laden.

For example, it seems the Danes, more than the Swedes, are becoming alert to the danger of being overwhelmed by Muslims (and Islamic law) demographically in the coming decades. I genuinely feel sorry for the Swedes, I fear their country is lost to irreversible demographic trends already, though I hope they can still pull out of the nosedive.

Viking Blood? Hmmm. We have a state here called Minnesota which was largely settled by offshoots from this strain. This state is now coddling a Muslim enclave In Minneapolis where airport taxi drivers impose sharia law on their customers. This is the same site where the "flying imams" organized their little charade.
Not sure whether many Minmesotans trace their ancestry from around Malmo but it makes me wonder. For the whole 20th century Minnesota created a steady stream of socialist nutballs who were spinning utopian politics. Europe is not the only place where free speech critical of Islam is not allowed. It is an endemic disease in American newspapers and most all of the TV media. There are words that are never spoken or written in a critical context (or even in any context): Mohammed, Qoran, Hadith, Sura, Jihad, and on and on. There are anti-jihad websites that are never mentioned or printed, particularly jihad watch/dhimmi watch. Books by Robert, Steve Emerson, Bat Ye'Or, etc., cannot be mentioned or their contents even discussed, either by the media's own staff or letter-writers like me. 80-90 percent of the print "news" TV "news" and TV "talk shows" deal almost 100% with Anna Nichole's baby and the like.
Neither the History Channel nor Hollywood have ever created a series about the bloody Muslim conquests of Christian North Africa, Spain, the Balkans, Syria and Turkey, or their extremely bloody conquests of Mesopotamia, Persia and India. Those conquests rivaled Hitler's in land area and numbers killed, and they are still occupying these lands. Why not a series about the devastation wrought by the Islamic Empire? Here are some reasons: Political Correctness; No guts, no courage; Fear of lawsuit from Deep-pocket Saudi sponsored CAIR; moral relativism; lack of any educational or investigative background on Islam, and probably not least, a visceral leftist hate for America that dominates the liberal owners and staffs of these organizations.
The consequence of all this is that only about 10 percent of the American people have any idea of the threat the country and the world are under from Islam, and among all the politicians and bureaucrats in Washington who should know, it is probably less than 2 or 3 percent who do know. For all the rest it is politics and bureaucracy as usual.
Only talk-radio and the internet are really getting the truth out, and basically that is the 10 percent (my guess, no stats) I mentioned above who get it, who understand the threat. There is a desperate need for wide-circulation conservative newsprint and TV shows to overcome this problem of national ignorance. Fox does not get a pass since the Sauds have a piece of the action.
There was once a comic spy show called "Get Smart". A gimmick was a plastic "Cone of Silence" bubble; Smart could get inside this plastic bubble and talk on a pocket radio or phone and not be overheard by enemy spies. The American people are in such a cone of silence. But in this case they cannot hear what is going on outside of the cone of silence. The cone is blocking them out from the truth.
The Islamists well understand that they must maintain that barrier, that silent cone of ignorance, if they are to take over the country and impose Sharia law. The Saudis are pouring millions, maybe billions into furthering this campaign of disinformation and ignorance through CAIR and infiltration of their doctrine into our educational system.
In one sense Europe may be ahead of America in recognizing the problem, since it is so blatantly displayed. America as a nation has not woken up yet to Europe's plight or to the threat here. Harking back to the beginning of WWII, Europe was fully enmeshed for more than 2 years before Pearl Harbor woke us up. Well, this time, we already had Pearl Harbor II - 9/11- and we - the people - are still sleeping. This indolence has to be traceable to moral relativism, political correctness and hate-America liberalism that has dominated our campuses for two generations. Will we wake up? Will we still be free men or will we be bowing to Mecca 5 times a day? That is, as they say, the 64-dollar question.

Could that happen here? It is interesting that the Islamist organization headquarters are concentrated in the vicinity of our capital along with large Muslim populations.
The educated classes of the last two or three generations are cut from a much different cloth than their recent ancestors who fought and won WWII. In fact they will resist becoming informed of the Islamic threat since it counters everything they have been taught in school since the 1960s. The 64-dollar question. Will they rise to the occasion, or will they bow to Islam? Take a look at the the American Congress. They are suppose to be a representative sample of the American people. It does not give me a lot of hope.

I can attest to this clear back in the mid-eighties, I was being re-deployed and had too much to carry with me so I had a little garage sale. Selling used clothing and American kitsch I made over $3000 in one Saturday. Hell, two guys got in a fight over the last pair of jeans. Yet, walking around town in mufti one could see on full display, the contempt in most faces.

Auntbea and friends, thanks for pointing out I was being what I thought was humorous and sarcastic. Ultimately I realize if things go bad in Europe we will intervene, they are family to the majority of us and also our economic partners. What some of the readers might not know is as a military retiree I and thousands like me could be recalled. As we age there is less a chance of a combat role but we would do much to replace the stateside troops and allow the younger and fresh troops to deploy. The US military has a much greater capacity to “surge” than most realize. I admit I posted that smart A** comment after a long night of BBQ and beer but I think my main point got through. No one should expect others to save them or even know how badly they are hurting. The UN is powerless and our own military is tired- not of combat we excel at it but at all the nonsense that goes along with it. This fight as all the regulars know is fought daily both on the field of battle and in the press. Everyone who knows me has no doubt what side I am on and that I will never surrender. One of the cardinal rules of soldiers is we have the right to bit#$, whine and complain it helps us focus. The bottom line is we are ready and very capable of saving Europe should the call be given.

Your countrymen know there is a threat but they won't admit it? They'd rather gobble up American culture and condemn Americans as uncivilized?
It's understandable that after a century of devastation caused by wars and revolutions that Europeans would just as soon take a breather and "talk to their enemies", but it's not good enough. You need to be willing to fight for your beliefs and your friends or neither is worth a dime. Those who know there is a threat need to speak up and be willing to risk the derision of their fellow citizens. Are there no Churchills among you? Is no one brave enough to say this is my heritage and I want to preserve it? If you won't fight for yourselves, there is nothing anyone else can do for you.
I don't know why President Bush or any future president should go out on a limb for Europe when he runs the risk of being branded an international war criminal. You all wanted us to hold back and not fight civilians but you refuse to admit that civilians are fighting us. THEY are the ones who declared war. These men were welcomed on our shores and they abused our hospitality and good will. Is our president expected to suffer gladly the fate of Augusto Pinochet? If so, then American troops should leave every country in the world and come home.
As for Saddam being "in a box", that box was breaking up because Europeans were unwilling to see that the resolutions were enforced. They're doing the same with Iran. Better to have steady business deals than take a stand on what's right.
Oil-For-Food has made me not care what happens in Europe, at least in France and Germany. The UN is Europe's boot on the heel of America and you ask where are the Americans?
The people that don't want what they got need to do something other than call out for the Americans. They need to change the minds of their leaders or push them out of the way.

My guess is that a lot of Europeans secretly felt the same way. How many Italians secretly thought that the US deserved a bloody nose? Like this gentleman, they kept their feelings to themselves. Now they're coming out, and Americans are noticing.
Americans are on the same path that Europe is on, just a few decades behind. If Europeans fear a weak America, they need to do something about it.
How about supporting America's attempts to spread freedom instead of pining for stability?
Your society is aging because people can't afford more than one or two children, owing to high taxes. The Europeans would have to give up the idea of the welfare state and be willing to shoulder a greater defense burden AND be willing to take some of the burden off the US. It's no longer 1945.
Contrary to popular myth, our streets are not paved with gold and America is not omniscient and it is not all-powerful. If Europeans won't support us, then down we go. The choice is yours.
