I believe that this photo should replace the jihadwatch main photo on the top of the page. Not only is it the definitive image of jihad, but the hand reaching out into the camera is the perfect symbol of that threat.

The only photographs that I've seen in my life that put on the most unadulterated face of evil and hatred have always had Muslims as the centerpiece. Now, that can't possibly be just chance alone.
And I've seen more footage of Nazis over the years than I can recall, and there's still no comparison when it comes to outpourings of blind malice.
And yet, it's a "tiny minority of extremists" problem. We can "reform them". If we "just make Palestine a state" it will all get better. If we "leave the Holy Lands" it will all get better.
Etc., etc., etc.
How about -- if we "fight our enemies and really mean it and protect what's ours and what we hold dearest", it might get better. I think that's a far wiser course.

Pakistan is on the edge of something big. A coup d'etat can't be too far off. Perhaps the government is leaving them alone in hopes that Musharraf will be left alone. All this means is that there will be two governments, a formula for a future disaster. Madrassa students all across Pakistan will become bolder and bolder.
It's like a runaway train leaving El Cajon Pass heading for the curve at the bottom.

I don't know which is harder to believe -- that Christians rioted under presumably religious motivation (otherwise the comparison is moot), that it happened in Iraq, or that there are still as many as 150,000 Christians alive in Iraq.

Agreed. I've said before that I do not believe Musharraf will survive another 5 years in power, especially if Iran is left untouched and its own nuclear ambitions become more than wishful thinking.

I have been watching MANY televised images the students from the Jamia Hafsa and the Jamia Fareedia — both involved in the long-running standoff with the government — burning DVDs and CDs in Islamabad and I have to say "I feel sorry for them".
It started with the takeover of a children’s library in Islamabad...close to Mushi's seat of power. This was then followed with Images of burqa-clad young women clutching staves. They are demanding nothing less than the imposition of Shariah law in Islamabad...followed by the rest of Pak.
They say that "ignorant people do not know what is good for them", and therefore the educated elite of the madrassah have to show the way.
The leader of Lal Masjid says that he will marry all womens (between 30- 46) who are willing to give up prostitution...what a noble gesture.
I have to say I have enormous sympathy for these peoples, they are leading the struggle with the inherent contradictions that remain unresolved in Pak...a state created in the name of religion.
Why shouldn't Shariah be the basis of the law since Pakistan was created in the name of Islam. What a disgusting irony it is not to have sharia...what a shame for the peoples of Pak and what utter shame for Islam.
PAK must have sharia....this is what it deserves...the blood that so many peoples spilt to create this country ...must be honoured.
So what if GDP, life expectancy or literacy rates are different to the rest of the world....so what if we don't have oil to "compensate", this is Allah's will.
The only thing that truly matters is that Pak peoples obey the divine rules, as interpreted by various schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
Manmade laws, ethics, and other boundaries are all of secondary importance.
If Islam is to be the global brand of choice...the world must sees the advantages of sharia, the justice and peace of Islam in full glory.
The current government system is a sham and an insult to Pak and Islam.
I would also like to see Pakis from the world over to come back "home" (like I did) to support the peaceful implementation of sharia.

This story is one of many, people have other opinions about other conflicts too, this may seem disproportionate to some as something to complain about but it's one of many Jihad Watch stories that regular people have commented on. The only disproportion is the behaviour of acts in these articles like this one, its the same old story of tantrums that should have been grown out of by people from the age group from the picture you can see have not, silly protests about half truths.

No... I was (and still am) asking for a mix of "mild sharia + democracy" for the Western world...because moving to full sharia in the West is not appropriate (not at this time anyway).
For Pak the situation is different and unique. For us the time has come to implement Allah's will...it has taken 70 odd years to get to realising this...now we go do...that is why Pak came into being...now we have to do the decent thing to honour Allah SWT.
As for me, (and Ahmadis in general) and the possible difficulties you talk about, this is not important in relation to the bigger GLOBAL picture.
My support is with these peoples ...provided they can agree change through peace and the right peoples come forward....those that benefit humankind through sharia.
Like you say ...the peoples in the picture are simply lunds....but they will not be ruling elite....so we wait and see how the situation develops.

Naseem my Muslim friend, Pakistan did not come into being for your odd reasons stated. The reason Pakistan came into being is because Muslims were so violent and intolerant that people in the region had to partition them in their own enclave.
Naseem you do not quite understand that the people pictured above will not stop as they are not acting out for Islam, but acting out in violence from outrage from within.

So I guess your time on this earth is about up. Oh well Naseem it was nice while it lasted. Are they going to hang you or stone you? I am not up on the various ways to dispose of Ahmadis in a true Islamic land with true Islamic law. Do you get the "Peoples of the book" deal so you just pay a tax.

Stories like they stick a finger up your a** at the airport If you appear to look like a Muslim. I have lobbied Heathrow airport in London to introduce the same policy of anyone who appears like an American...

You never answered my question about the level of education of your clerics. Who, what gives them the authority? How are they appointed? Can women become clerics? It seems to me Naseem that the society you want to see implemented under sharia law is not very forgiving toward women and unbelievers. Women are oppressed in muslim societies.
Another point on clerics once a man becomes a cleric, only then God speaks through him? God only speaks through clerics and not to the masses? I noticed the other week when M Sadr, was beaking off from his hiding place, he kept referring to ‘God’, as if God only spoke to him, and then it was his job to inform the masses, of course.

However, it is not, because likely all those DVD's and CD's were illegal pirate copies out of nutcase Islamic Malasia where most of the illegal rip-offs are manufactured. It is fascinating that this illustrated post has brought more response out of the Islamic woodwork than I have seen in weeks or even months. Now why is that? Those ostensibly menacing youngsters- the Pak version of frat boys perhaps- must strike a strong emotional chord with our Muslim friends. Maybe they are angry, too, that they cannot yet unleash the same kind of fury on us, in the West. All that pent up rage and no where to go.
A gift of advice for you: the release comes in freeing yourself from the oppressive diversion that is Islam. That little voice that hints at doubt about your path in life and your destiny and that of your people (whoever they may be): that is God speaking to you.
