"The killers said they believed Islam let them spill the blood of anyone engaged in illicit activities..."

Islamic vigilantism given an official seal of approval in the Islamic Republic of Iran. "Group cleared over Iran murders," by Frances Harrison for BBC News, with thanks to JM:

Iran's Supreme Court has acquitted a group of men charged over a series of gruesome killings in 2002, according to lawyers for the victims' families.

The vigilantes were not guilty because their victims were involved in un-Islamic activities, the court found.

The killers said they believed Islam let them spill the blood of anyone engaged in illicit activities if they issued two warnings to the victims.

The serial killings took place in 2002 in the south-eastern city of Kerman.

'Morally corrupt'

The case raises serious questions about vigilantes in Iran taking justice into their own hands and undermining the rule of law.

Up to 18 people were killed in just one year, but only five of the murders were tried in court.

According to their confessions, the killers put some of their victims in pits and stoned them to death. Others were suffocated. One man was even buried alive while others had their bodies dumped in the desert to be eaten by wild animals.

The accused, who were all members of an Islamic paramilitary force, told the court their understanding of the teachings of one Islamic cleric allowed them to kill immoral people if they had ignored two warnings to stop their bad behaviour.

to Paramilitaries has a good chance of being hauled to The Hague and charged with ATROCITIES.
Not when Koran tells them to take UnIslamic matters into hands of the Faithful, though. As for

Poor, poor al-ilah, such a weak and incompetent god! Unable to prevent some simple 'un-islamic activities' - wrong type or fastening of chador perhaps, smoking the wrong type of camel poop. So lacking power that he has to have some bearded simpletons to carry out the killing!

And the muslims, the poor, poor, weak-minded, easily led, gullible muslims, whose faith is so weak, has so little foundation, that witnessing someone else engaging in 'un-islamic activities' may fatally wound it.

Pity poor al-ilah the weakest of gods, pity more the poor muslims.

Here, criminality is morality. Iran is truly an Orwellian nightmare.

Religious justification for any criminal act. Wasn't there some sect in Thailand last year that believed in a teapot god, If I believed in that teapot God, does that mean that I can legitimately kill anyone who doesn't use Earl Grey tea. I despair for Humanity.

"The accused, who were all members of an Islamic paramilitary force, told the court their understanding of the teachings of one Islamic cleric allowed them to kill immoral people if they had ignored two warnings to stop their bad behaviour."

........proof that Islamic clerics promote violence....no court, no cross examination, no evidence , no hearings, no trial...."My Islamic cleric said it was OK to kill them, So, I did...why are you talking to me??"......

The Muslims killed the Muslims for not being Muslim enough....and we already know how Muslims treat Non Muslims.....you do not want these people in your neighborhood..

"Sura (5:33) - The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

This story was examined last night on the radio on the BBC world service- the BBC 'expert' assured listeners that if there is enough public pressure, the Iranian government will reverse the acquittal. Slightly different from the story given here by the BBC proper.

One thing that hasn't been talked about as far as I know is what exactly were the victims guilty of doing? I heard one report that it was sexual impurity, however just giving someone a hug in Islam is worthy of death.

No love lost here.

But according to PBS, only the Muslim Brotherhood are allowed to use "takfir" (determining that a fellow Muslim is "no longer a Muslim" because of "un-Islamic" behavior, and thus is "allowed" to be killed) to murder (such former) Muslims, as in the case of Anwar Sadat.

Has Iran consulted with PBS over this apparent inconsistency?

Islam, the Religion of (Chop Them To) Piece(s).

Since I'm guessing that being gay would constitute unmuslim behavior, I wonder what Rosies take on this story is?

It's one way to thin the Muslim population. They feed on their own.

What's the problem,,,Iran running out of Christians and Jews?....

Be nice if Rosie would go there to live for about 6 months or so.

Now that they have had their murder spree legitimised by the court they will no doubt be redoubling their efforts to exterminate anybody they dislike in new and amazing ways.

But what I do find interesting though is the BBC assertion that they are vigilantes.

“The case raises serious questions about vigilantes in Iran taking justice into their own hands and undermining the rule of law.”

So the BBC accepts that burying people alive is Iranian LAW and that the serious concern is the public taking the LAW into their own hands. I mean hell we can’t have the public feeding corpses to the wildlife when the government should be doing it.

At the end of the day this is just one more nail in the coffin of Islam. When your government sanctions serial killers you know your society is bankrupt.

If we let them get on with this crap long enough then every Muslim city will look like Mogadishu and they will be able to murder each other until the Mahdi comes home.

They are living to a deadline anyway. One day the oil will dry up and then it’s 7th Century all the way for those feckers. A few choice missile strikes to help them on their way would also help.

All we have to do then is encourage them to leave while we send men to Mars and cure Aids and invent Ferraris that run on thin air.

Certainly, " islam allows them to spill blood..."

I made a case for simplifying islam on another thread dealing with the above thread subject but the post was flushed, probably because it was too close to the truth. Whoever felt the need to delete my post..please justify the act in view of the info on this thread. I am holding my breath.

...she would not last 6 days....

LOL...try 6 minutes. She won't have concierges and whipping boys to0 service her elitist whim.
She wouldn't even consider it...unless, of course, it entails hurling invectives at Americans, but she does that INside the US as it is.
