Former PA Foreign Minister: Qur'an forbids recognizing Israel

Now wait a minute, Zahar. I am certain that you are cherry-picking Qur'an verses, engaging in selective quotation to make it look like the whole religion is violent. Now is the time for all good Muslim moderates to step up and point out the Qur'an quotes that allow for Muslims to live peacefully side-by-side with Jews without extending Islamic rule over them, to explain why Zahar's Qur'anic exegesis is flawed, and thereby to expose Zahar for the repulsive Islamophobe he really is. Anyone? Anyone? Mr. Hooper? Mr. Ayloush? Mr. Schwartz? Mr. Mohammed? Mr. Safi? Anyone?

"Zahar: Koran forbids recognizing Israel," from the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to Sr. Soph:

Former PA foreign minister Mahmoud A-Zahar of Hamas said Friday that recognizing Israel contradicts the Koran, Israel Radio reported.

In an interview with a Hamas-affiliated Web site, A-Zahar said that Hamas had not given up on the principle that all of Palestine is Muslim land.

What an islamophobe, this A-Zahar!

Wait...what website was this "discussion" on? What Quranic verses did he cite? Actually, the article and the title are completely contradictory. He said nothing about the Quran (Israel radio is really good at this...putting words in peoples' mouths, including Israelis'). This article sounds exactly like it was written by Spencer(although it wasn't, I know that I have to spell everything out for you, even sarcastic comments), take something somebody says, and then add words to make it sound like you want it to. Sorry Spencer, but before someone can actually have a flawed Quranic exegesis, they must actually HAVE an exegesis. Actually, if you read their manifesto, they believe that Jews and Muslims could live very peacefully side-by-side, albeit under a representative government not based upon the supremacy of Western European Jews (Middle Eastern and other forms of Jews are interestingly enough right next to Arab Muslims at the bottom of the Israeli chain, as reported by Israelis).

Just doing some thinking...

If the Palestinians refuse to recognize Israel, then Oslo/Taba/RoadMap/[insert Israeli-Palestinian negotiation here] were all complete wastes of time and resources. If, as he claims, the Palestians cannot recognize the Jewish state, then there's point in Israel (or America) negotiating for a peace agreement.

Then again, the Palestinians could renounce the Koran.

Posted by: aunursa [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2007 11:04 AM

the article reports that he said this. why wouldn't he have said this?

am not sure that this low-level warfare can continue for another decade. national review's derb (what's the name, derbyshire?) has suggested that what will happen is a catastrophic terrorist attack on israel, followed by mass destruction conducted by the israelis -- the victims of these 100 years of jihad -- after which there would be 100 years of peace.

not a good scenario; and the 100 years of peace is unlikely. but imagine the deportation of the arab fifth column in israel, and the response in europe. horror! rage! and a few years later, calls for deporting the arab fifth column in europe.

Robert, this one really nails it - what is wrong with the whole "middle east policy".

Everyone in Foggy Bottom and the congress and the exec should read and discuss this central truth until they either understand it or take a contrary position and keep persisting in proceeding with the same mantra of stupidities and actions.

Islam recognizes no "states" but only the grand Ummah.

(A Caliphate would be nice, but that shall come with time.)

Islam will not tolerate any infidels ruling, anywhere.

The Koran sanctions the domination of all infidels and either their conversion, submission or extermination.

There can be no "Jewish" state, as there can be no "non-Islamic states", ultimately.

Islam must dominate and not be dominated.

How much clearer do infidels need it to be?

"Now is the time for all good Muslim moderates to step up and point out the Qur'an quotes that allow for Muslims to live peacefully side-by-side with Jews without extending Islamic rule over them"

.....I have been looking and must report I cannot find any Qur'an quotes that allow for Muslims to live peacefully side-by-side with Jews without extending Islamic rule over them.

...I do find some references indicating Islam must dominate....

such as:

Muslim (19:4294) - There are many places in the hadith where Muhammad tells his followers to demand the jizya of non-believers. Here he lays down the rule that it is to be extorted by force: "If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them".

Kim Hartveld:

That list of Qur'an verses regarding Israel is, unfortunately, incomplete, and consequently misleading. Because of passages such as Qur'an 2:61 and 9:30, mainstream Islam considers the Jews to be accursed, and since Muslims are the true Jews (Abraham was a Muslim -- Qur'an 3:67), the promises regarding Israel apply only to them.

Cordially

'Let there not be 2 religions in the Arab peninsula'- didn't Mohammed say that on his deadbed? And for Arabs or Muslims Israel is still within the Arab peninsula.

I doubt very much that the Koran sura's from Kim Hartvelds link above are known to more than a few muslims, most live in ignorance and denial. indoctrination, bigottry and hatred are what drives Muhammedan madness, we are not dealing with rational people.

There are some, like this one here:
http://sheikyermami.com/2007/03/18/even-the-koran-affirms-jews-rights-to-jerusalem/

but that is rare as hens teeth, and I don't think the guy would last longer than a few hours in Ramallah.

Here is a particularly awful example of how Karin Laub from AP twists and turns facts into fiction in order to misinform from Pali-land:

...I suspect the website was the Official Hamas website, which , if I am not mistaken, is a password secure one...meaning you cannot get in without an authorized password...my second guess would be the AL-Jezeera website.....or I suppose you could contact the Jeruselam Post who printed the article and make your inquires.......

...do you believe Mahmoud A-zahar did not say these things?...He certainly has not denied saying these things...

"Former PA foreign minister Mahmoud A-Zahar of Hamas said Friday that recognizing Israel contradicts the Koran, Israel Radio reported.

...I believe he did say it...

"recognizing Israel contradicts the Koran"
-from article

So? The freakin' KORAN contradicts the Koran. Which actually means that recognizing Israel is in ACCORDANCE with the Koran.

But only if you cherry-pick and take certain verses out of context, of course.

The Koran is a psycheldic book it seems. I am waiting for the time that toilet paper is declared infidel as infidels created it.

These Muslims make things up to fit any square hole they manufacture.

"Qur'an is a psychedelic book"

No kidding! Lets add: manual for murder/lusts gone wild//hate manifesto/comic book/recipe for disaster.

What did I leave out?

Hell, guys, even the Koran contradicts the Koran.
What don't contradict it?

Posted by: TheOmegaMan [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 20, 2007 1:43 PM

"Qur'an forbids recognizing Israel"

I FORBID recognizing the Qur'an!

The book should be banned given the deadly/destructive impact it's having on our world.

I like reading the posts by "An American". They seem to be a good example of what Robert means when he complains about critics launching ad-hominem attecks on him and really not refuting the substance of his arguments.

KOOL-AID ALERT!
lol

Since when does a book, written 1,000 years ago (it sure as hell wasn't written even close to the timeframe ubu'l kassim, aka "muhammed", did) say it forbids recognition of a nation that was not in existence at the time???

After thousands of propaganda sound bites by such militant nutcases, this one is by far, outrageously over the top on kook-fringedom.

Does he realize what a total lying hypocrite of the Nth degree he just made of himself?

Absolutely classic! LOL
