With help from Iran, but could some of these young men be helping also? By Dipesh Gadher in the Times, with thanks to Frank:
AL-QAEDA leaders in Iraq are planning the first “large-scale” terrorist attacks on Britain and other western targets with the help of supporters in Iran, according to a leaked intelligence report.Spy chiefs warn that one operative had said he was planning an attack on “a par with Hiroshima and Nagasaki” in an attempt to “shake the Roman throne”, a reference to the West.
Another plot could be timed to coincide with Tony Blair stepping down as prime minister, an event described by Al-Qaeda planners as a “change in the head of the company”.
The report, produced earlier this month and seen by The Sunday Times, appears to provide evidence that Al-Qaeda is active in Iran and has ambitions far beyond the improvised attacks it has been waging against British and American soldiers in Iraq.
There is no evidence of a formal relationship between Al-Qaeda, a Sunni group, and the Shi’ite regime of President Mah-moud Ahmadinejad, but experts suggest that Iran’s leaders may be turning a blind eye to the terrorist organisation’s activities.
The intelligence report also makes it clear that senior Al-Qaeda figures in the region have been in recent contact with operatives in Britain.
It follows revelations last year that up to 150 Britons had travelled to Iraq to fight as part of Al-Qaeda’s “foreign legion”. A number are thought to have returned to the UK, after receiving terrorist training, to form sleeper cells.

If in the 1930's there could be an alliance between Hitler and Stalin, and in the 1940's between Stalin and the US, why is it deemed unlikely that Iran could pay al-Queda to conduct operations against Western targets?
al-Queda may be Sunni, but they need cash to operate, and cash is cash. Lets not assume that al-Queda would not take money from other enemies of the US as well. China comes to mind

First, destruction. Then, outrage. Then, suddenly effective restrictions on immigration, including immigration of Muslims.
What has Pakistan to do with the workers and pensioners of old Britain, really? But the real question is this: Why must the restrictions on immigration be dependent on destruction?

These idiotic Jihadist just may be our salvation.
Any major terrorist attack(s) would wake up the soporific Europeans to the danger of Islam before the transition is complete for Eurabia.
The EU elite has worked hard for decades to sell our countries to the Arabs.
Now that the sale is almost complete, any jihadist enterprise will be counter productive.
These jihadist are impatient and stupid.
My thoughts are: if these 7th century barbarians get the upper hand, it will be richly deserved. They would never be able to do it without our help and consent.
To quote Arthur C Clarke: "It has yet to be proven that intelligence has any survival value.”

Go to the Times site and read the comments following this story. Read them and weep. The level of Western stupidity is appalling, the urge to put all blame for the world's evils on ourselves trumps all rational thinking. While such a terrorist attack probably would cause more people to face reality in all its bleakness, there can be no doubt that new 'inside job' conspiracy theories are being created at this very moment, with an eager audience awaiting.
As for the frequently heard claim that the tide is turning, people in Europe are starting to make their voice heard, etc., it surely isn't reflected by these self-hating loonies.

Not to worry. They don't really mean it. And if they, do haven't the British people been very mean to brown peoples over the centuries? What's the death of your and your family if it means evening a score from 1192?

I find this story hard to digest because its known that the Mujahedeen in Iraq and Iran loathe each other. Because Iran is not Muslim no matter how loud they claim to be. The iranians are busy helping their shite brothers in the mid-east, spreading dodgy beliefs about the prophet and his companions

Yeah, sure. And the Pope is not Catholic.

Texan,
I think Abdullah is trying to say that any Muslim who is not Sunni, is no Muslim at all... Just a guess, as some days it is a little hard to understand where Abdullah is coming from...

Abdullah your logic is really braindead.. iran is not muslim?.. so what your not really muslim enought? you are not part of the arab tribe, to these people in power" the sauds
you are nothing more than a pesky raisin. how sad your life must be.. grow up, because they way you are going, l can see you putting on some stupid bomb belt just to prove you are muslim enough.. get real, and become human again.

Yeahhh....bring it on!!!!
It's all the West needs to finaly rise up against these murderous neanderthals.
Once the ball is rolling, no amount of corrupt polititions, do-gooders, bleeding hearts and left wing retards will be able to stop the rise of mass vigilanty groups from burning mosques, and hunting muslims down in the streets like the rabid dogs they are.
Then the free world can get back to living in peace once again.....I cant wait, I think we've been patient enough.

You hit the nail on the head! My friends and I all believe if there is another major attack, it will force our governments to begin deporting "mooselims" from our country regardless of whether it is PC or not. It's the only sane answer to saving our lives.
I've also read in the past there is some collaboration between Al Qaeda and Iran as there have been meetings between the two held in Iran. I read Iran has been holding the son of Bin Laden for several years now.

Go on Abdullah. Get out on the next plane to Tehran and tell Ahmadinejad or any mullah or ayatollah you can find that they're not Muslims, and that they are, according to Zarqawi's words 'rafadite dogs'. And see what you get for your troubles.

Well another reminder this week for those who wanted out of Iraq and forced President to crack down on al Qaeda there so they are fleeing like rats from a ship, this is the results of your new policy.
You could have either contained terrorists and drew them into Iraq to die and live in peace, but the choice was blame Bush and fall into bin Laden's trap.
The Islamocommunist of Iran and the Islamofascists of bin Laden are coming now to repeat 9 11 on larger scales to destroy the western economies.
People are going to owe George Bush and apology as he has been right. Think of it in 2 weeks since the Iraq exit has begun attacks are all over Africa where there was peace and now major operations are under way against British, German and American interests in Europe.
This is the majority's policy and it is going to bring terrorism inside America.
Now what are you going to do? Ask Saudi Arabia and Jordan to help? They already are in bed with Europe and Russia protecting their own interests as America can not be relied upon.
People who were complaining about Iraq are about to find out how very good and successful Iraq was by what is coming.

A good friend of mine who is from Syria but has lived in America for more than 30 years often remarks to me: "Muslims all stick together."
I agree!
And I have read accounts by ex-Muslims who have stated that they encountered Iranians during their attendance of al-Qaeda meetings.
Personally, I believe these people. I think the Iranian mullahs are playing a co-ordinating role in al-Qaeda behind the scenes. Afghanistan is right next door to Iran and may be making for easy pickings for the Shia ruling elite.
As for the UK, all of us would do well to recall the sword verse in the Kuran "And when the forbidden months have ended, slay the infidels everywhere they are found; besiege them, capture them, torture them, prepare very strategem of warfare upon them..."
There could be an Islamic-perpetrated holocaust ANYWHERE in the world. And all of would do well to remember that. And be prepared for a holocaust anywhere. Britain had best treat this with extreme caution as the threat is absolutely real. The same goes for us Americans over here too.
A nuclear holocause perpetrated by al-Qaeda could happen -- all too easily. 9-11 should have taught us all at least that much.

Islam is one step closer to signing it's own death certificate with every new attack. I am not really worried about our PC riddled society standing by and allowing Islam to take over cause though we are slow to act and often afraid to be righteous due to our good nature and desire for peace , we will wake up and by the time that consensus comes Islamists will have already commited an unspeakable atrocity and then ALL BETS WILL BE OFF . I won't have any pity for them when this happens. they are foolishly taking our will to be peaceful as a weakness. they really should not do that. Islam cannot stop modern man or progress. the world always keeps turning and just like the dinosaurs those who don't evolve....Dissapear. It may appear that jihad is gaining strength when in fact what we are seeing is the Death knell for Radical Islam and it's ilk. it's just a matter of time.

The jihadists are counting on the media lethargy, the political/cultural denial of Islam's true nature and intent, the self-division and the self-defeating stupidity in the U.S. (and the rest of the West) that followed 9/11 (and 3/11 in Madrid and 7/7 in London), even in NYC (the WTC towers are still not rebuilt, nearly 6 years after the attack), and are enjoying the spectacle of "9/11 Truther" paranoid types (who are blaming it NOT on Bin Laden but Bush) to make ANYTHING they do have no effect of rousing the infidels to their own serious self-defense.
So far, they're right.
Someone should pay for a survey in the U.S. and EU which asked:
WHAT WOULD ISLAMIC TERRORISTS HAVE TO DO- IN AN ATTACK- FOR THE U.S. (AND/OR THE WEST) TO FINALLY WAKE UP AND FIGHT THEM SERIOUSLY?
You could do it two ways.
Let half of the people come up with their own answers.
And, give other half a multiple choice list, like:
A) Take a grade school of several hundred children hostage (like Beslan in Russia) and murder all of them?
B) Assassinate the Pope? (Or the President?)
C) Blow up a Western city with a nuke?
D) Kill a hundred thousand or more people with a non-nuclear WMD device (nerve gas, bacterial assault, etc.)?
E) All of the above?
Posted by: profitsbeard
at April 23, 2007 1:43 PM
Don't mean to sound cheeky, but which of these have the islamist not yet done besides the obvious, C?
A) Beslan.
B) Mehmet Ali Agca and more recent veiled threats against Benedict XVI when he was visiting Turkey.
C) in the hopper and already promised.
D) 10,000 fellow muslims in Algeria, 200,000 people in Darfur, and so many more now and in the past.
So, the answer is E). Muslims will do all of the above in due time.
I don't think all Americans nor all westerners will ever get it, nether will they do anything to effectively defend themselves.
Like him or not, Fareed Zakaria has an interesting new article
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18246414/site/newsweek/
"You have many friends in this region," he says. "But the attitude of many Asian nations is that China will be here for 2,000 years. America is here today but may go away. And if you stop paying attention to us, we have only one suitor and only one option."
I think a good part of the problem is America and the west are crippled by muliculturalism and moral relativism. And this is why the west will continually fail to respond to life threatening issues.

What? They join up with "Satan's foreign legion"
And then ...What? Returned to the UK???
Oh ..OK ...

GreatShaitan-
If it isn't noticed, it didn't happen.
If it doesn't happen in the West, it doesn't register with those who will have to fight it.
3,000 murdered in the US, 200 murdered in Spain and 50 plus murdered in the UK are not registering as "serious enough".
What exactly would outrage people ENOUGH?
I'd like to hear what the vox populi in the the U.S. (and the EU) would answer.
Plus, it would get the question above the level of "in the air".
Since nothing has worked to wake them yet, how much pain will the jihadis have to inflict?
A JIHAD YARDSTICK.

A good question, profitsbeard. I’ve come to the conclusion that what must happen to dent complacency in the West is:
- simultaneous, concerted atrocities in several Western countries
or
- a nuclear, biological or chemical attack
A bleak lookout, and some have argued that that would still not be enough. However, I detect a simmering resentment against both Islam and the appeasement of Islam in, say, Britain, which I hope would boil over in one of the above scenarios. So the sooner they bring it on, the better. It needed the rape of Czechoslovakia in 1938 to convince people that the Nazis had to be stopped at any cost. So let’s hope our enemies overreach themselves, as I’m confident they’re stupid enough to do.

Abdullard often finds stories reported on this site hard to believe or difficult to digest,as often as not suggesting they are fabrications.I think it goes beyond a mere desire to obfuscate:the guy is in a genuine state of denial about the sheer nastiness of the second rate religion to which he has hitched his wagon.

profitsbeard said,

That was because instead of pointing at the murderers, we had a leadership that concentrated on mourning the victims--to keep our eyes off the forces behind the perpetrators. Not allowing anger to rise, but dissipating it in fear of stopping Moslem immigration (especially from Saudi Arabia), and letting the likes of CAIR feel they are favored over any of us who saw the attack for what it really was.
If we are threatened with a Hiroshima-Nagasaki type of nuclear attack--and our intelligence forces see it coming--we need look to Iran and Waziristan (Pakistan) as the probably sources of the attack. Best keep an eye on "our friends and trusty allies" the Saudis though. (And let us not forget the Russians as sources for the material.)
