Suicide bomber kills 20 at Iraq funeral

Sunni/Shi'ite Jihad Update. By Dean Yates for Reuters (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber wearing a vest packed with explosives killed more than 20 people when he blew himself up among mourners at a Shi'ite funeral north of Baghdad on Monday, Iraqi police said.

The attack took place inside a crowded mourning tent in the town of Khalis in volatile Diyala province, police said.

More than 35 people had been wounded, police said, adding they expected the death toll to rise.

Since U.S. and Iraqi forces launched a security crackdown in Baghdad in February, militants including al Qaeda have increasingly shifted the focus of their attacks outside the capital.

Diyala, a religiously mixed area, has been the scene of fierce fighting between U.S. troops and al Qaeda as well as Sunni Arab insurgents.

....when the guys with guns show up the Muslim terrorists move out...they learned their lesson in Fallujah, where the terrorist chose to stay and fight (the terrorists lost about 2,000 and the Americans lost about 190).

....as seen by this incident, the terrorists prefer to attack unarmed civilians...this is not the first time they attacked a funeral...

...as the "surge" in Bagdad continues, you will see fewer and fewer attacks in Bagdad..the troops continue to find large caches of weapons and explosives...the whole city appears to be one large ammunition dump...

...a part of the "surge" includes increased border security between Iran and Iraq...this too, has caught many insurgents by surprise and have resulted in a capture of a wealth of documents and valuable information into the operations of how the terrorists are equipped and how the terrorists receive their intelligence information...

....and of course, the Muslims continue to attack Muslims....

From these latest posts, it's obvious that Iraq is one big shark tank at feeding time. It's just too bad that our troops have to get in the way when they tear each other apart.

Gosh, I wonder why anyone would do something like that?

The attack took place inside a crowded mourning tent in the town of Khalis in volatile Diyala province, police said.
But that doesn’t make any sense? Islam (spit) is the religion of peace.

Instead, they take the corpses to secret places and demand payments of up to $5,000 to release each body to relatives for burial. Because Muslim custom dictates that a body must be buried as soon as possible after death, many families simply pay up, rather than involve the police.

Should have known! Mix islam (flatulent passed) with capitalism and there’s no telling where it will end up!

Their so called prophet advocated terrorism and his followers merely emulate him. As their Koran demands. The Koran advocates terror against non Muslims and the Sunni extremists consider Shiites to be polytheists and not to be Muslim. So mass murder style terrorism is just ducky

Richard Miniter noted this morning on FOXNews that 99% of the suicide bombers in Iraq are foreign-born Muslims. This certainly makes sense considering the never-ending flow of people ready to murder themselves and civilians. It is surely far easier for Syria, Iran, Wahhabi Saudi Arabia and Al Qaeda to cultivate a vision of despair in Iraq by using the entire world as a source of evil instead of only relying on the "bad wishes" of Iraqis. With the amount of Iraqis dying to these attacks, and the manner of al-Masri's death today, I'm convinced that the Islamic terror is getting a little desperate.

Now, will the Democratic Party hold-off waving the White Flag long enough for the latest push by the U.S. and her allies in Iraq to have an effect? Will the U.S. dare shake up the enemy even more by attacking nuclear facilities in Iran when least expected? Will Syria be held accountable? Saudi Arabia?

Iraq is a mess, most of us would like to see our troops out of harm's way, but until Muslim states are held accountable for sourcing the terror in places like Baghdad, don't expect any end to any of this anytime soon. The suicide bombings will continue as long as the flow of foreign jihadists into Iraq is not cut off.

Strike Iran now.

...I have been saying this for a long time...the longer the Islamic terrorists try to fight, the worst it becomes for them and the more desparate they become...

They are succeeding in alienating the world against them....and If the world ever gets their act together and bands as a common ally,, Islam is dead...

Q: What is a totally rocking party called in Dar al-Islam?

A: A funeral. Especially one with much mournful ululating punctuated by a stabbing, a shooting, or a bombing. Especially the latter, funeral bombings totally rock on, just like wedding bombings.

* 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 *

Ain't nothing that rocks bigger or better than a big-ass funeral in a Tehran suburb. The cemeteries there did a land office business during the Iraq-Iran war.

Dig.

Even the head-hunters of the Amazon jungle would be scandalized by the routine barbarity in the Islamic world.

And our government is importing these people into our country on the theory that "diversity" will make us a better society.

Posted by: rational [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 1, 2007 9:33 AM

diversity...what an ugly word...

"The suicide bombings will continue as long as the flow of foreign jihadists into Iraq is not cut off."

Foehammer,

So why do you think the Iraqis are doing nothing to cut off the flow? They should at least be able to stop people from crossing their border. They know who's an Iraqi and who isn't better than we do. So what are they doing to help themselves?

Get out of Iraq NOW. They'll blame us for their suffering if we stay. They'll blame us if we go. Bring our people home. At least THEY want to live in peace.

Let the world (Muslims included) draw its own conclusions about the reason for our departure. They will, anyway. It's called propaganda and spin. If Japan had been an Islamic nation Hiroshima would have been a great victory for the ummah, the facts be damned.

Even mourning the deceased isn't sacred in the Islamic world; it's simply another opportunity to kill more innocents en masse. The despicable actions of the insane Westboro Baptist Church protesters at the funerals of soldiers here in the U.S. pale in comparison to the mass murders committed at funerals by jihadists.

Nothing is sacred to these people.

A "moderate" Muslim recently explained to me that terrorists are not responsible for the carnage in Iraq. Apparently private military contractors are causing all the violence.

So the next time a suicide bombing occurs, you know who to blame.

Allah gives extra 'goodies' in heaven for blowing yourself up at a funeral, like 20 additional really "hot" virgins, because death and the grieving are so close to allah's heart. What a god!

Seriously......

What a sick and perverse god/religion. And anyone stupid enough to believe that he'll receive numerous virgins in heaven for killing oneself and others deserves what they REALLY get.

They like it hot? Serve it up EXTRA hot!!

Wow you mean all those people complaining Iraq is a tarbaby who forced George Bush to crack down on Baghdad and implement an exit from Iraq have now caused terrorists to flee into ONCE PEACEFUL areas and are now the ones responsible for the murder of innocent people, as it is their policy not Bush's any more.

It will be coming soon to America, Europe and other Muslim nations for the big bang show.

President Bush had this contained and the complainers have turned this loose on peaceful areas.

President Bush proven right again and yet no apologies from anyone who was blaming him.

Lame Cherry, I think in real life you are George Bush's father.

Murdering mourners at funerals is just another slap in the face from Islamic jihadi's.
If and when the US/coalition pulls out, you can expect the violence to get worse, as all factions try to dominate. There are a million different scenarios in Islamic Iraq, you can be sure that the nasty ones will prevail.

Posted by: duh_swami [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 1, 2007 6:53 PM

If they do this at a funeral what do they do at a wedding?

Oh, that's right, they blew up a wedding party in Jordan. (Or was it two?)

Muslim on Muslim mass-murder.

The oldest craze in Islam.

It's the Koran, al-stupid!
