You got it correct. To use an American type saying, Europeans got caught up in the "Let us all hold hands and sing Cumbaya" approach. Everything will be all right. Appeasement is the name of the game over here.

You are right. We did nothing over here. The Spanish DO realize that they have made a mistake. Don't believe everything your and our media says. I have always thought that a lot of Europeans are jealous of America. The attitude has always been that you are our child that has slipped from our control.

The reality is that without a strong America, Europe is doomed. Part of the problem is that our leadership IS weak. Look at our immigration problems - We are hardly breeding. The average Muslim woman in Europe is having between three and four children. Demographics will win the day for them. If you want to read a good book, read "America Alone" by the Canadian Mark Steyn.

Do not get caught up in the "US being the greatest threat to World peace" talk. We have our own crazy liberals that still believe in the idea that the "Crazy Fundamentalists" will leave us alone if we leave them alone. Intelligent Europeans are waking up! Many of the Scandanavian countries are beginning to realize the mistakes of their immigration policies. Roaming gangs of muslim youth burning things and killing your citizens will cause that to happen.

Europeans still have long memories. I remember the Reagan years - All the left wing liberals and "enlightened" people coined the phrase "Better Red than dead." Europeans thought that Reagan was a madman for standing up to the Soviets. Now, Reagan is hailed as a hero over here.

Yes, our leaders are weak. This is why I count on America. I do not think that the EU has the stomach for the long fight ahead.

Please understand, we CAN"T do it alone. Your leaders may be weak, but you elected them. 9/11 should have been your wake-up call as well, but it wasn't. At least not in the same way.
We realized oceans were not a protective barrier. Europeans decided that American policy brought this down on us and that Europe's was a more enlightened vision.

Regrets over past mistakes won't get you anywhere. The Spanish people may realize they made a mistake but will they correct it? Was their mistake abandoning the Aznar government which supported the US in Iraq or was it electing someone who wouldn't give them everything they wanted at home?

I fear that yours is a minority (and a lonely) viewpoint, not the "silent majority".

I disregard the crazies both here and in Europe. That doesn't obviate the fact that they are doing much damage to our respective societies. We have to be willing to make a choice. Is Europe's jealousy of America going to prevent it from taking our side in this fight? If so, then they're only hurting themselves. Not even America can save Europe if Europeans are too proud to be saved.

I've heard Mark Steyn many times. There are too many books to read. Right now I'm reading Uncouth Nation: Why Europeans Dislike America.

www.islamwatch.org has an interview with the leader who details what he wants to happen once his party wins control. The person being interviewed says Pakistan must do what was done in Afghanistan under the Taliban.

Nothing PMK. Louis is correct.
The rot started in the 1950's - 1960's.
Charles de Gaulle (former French President) was envious of America in terms of it being a superpower and he wished to counterbalance it in some way. So he started diplomatic links with Arab countries and became enamoured with this policy. Algerians immigrated to France once France after 1962 war. Britain decolonised throughout late 1940's - 1960's but allowed many immigrants from Pakistan. Germany allowed in Turkish immigrants.
Unfortunately all these countries leaders forgot to read the "small print" of Islam. At the time, some lone voices in the wilderness spoke up about the dangers of Muslim immigration but were ignored. Now several decades later, problems surface.

Well we have problems. I keep telling people here in JW that much of our political, courts and media are liberal elite (and despite the fact that Bush has completely screwed things up, you will have problems if you vote those Democrats in). Much of the ordinary people are hostile to the mass uncontrolled immigration, but who speaks for us? Many of the laws passed protect the rights of those coming in rather than the indigenous population. There is a deficit of democracy throughout the EU, and political leaders hold people in contempt. "We know best what is good for you" is the thoughtform. And if you noticed, the recently France & Netherlands rejected the EU constitution much to alarm of the political elite.

Voting for the BNP which has been suggested by many Americans is rather like you voting for Ralph Nader. As always, everything is media-dominated, soundbites rule all. The BNP is made, by the media, to resemble the Nazi party (and yes they are very right wing). But just like Muslims smear Robert Spencer, I will listen to the BNP, to see if they any grain of sensible policies (and so will mainstream political parties even if unwillingly, looking to see if any policies make sense).

Because the Spanish Government lied to the people. Do you like being lied to by your Government? Neither do the Spanish. When 3/3 occured, a Spanish election was imminent. The Spanish Government thought, "If we say the truth, that we think it is Muslims, the people might say that this happened because we sent Spanish troops to Iraq and so blame us and vote us out of Government". So they blamed ETA for the attacks. But Spanish people worked out that the Government knew that it was Muslims and not ETA, realised they had been deliberately lied to and were angry. José Marie Aznar would have been better off being candid with the Spanish people and explained his policies, hoping that he would reelected.

2 weeks ago when I was in New Jersey I watched Kevin Tillman's & Jessica Lynch's testimony in front of Henry Waxman. There is never a substitute for truth.

It is ALWAYS better for Governments to be truthful with their own people even if sometimes the truth is excruciatingly embarassing. People can forgive that. They wont forgive lies.

In Britain, that is : Mirror, Guardian, Observer & Independent newspaper, BBC. And in France & Germany it is even more so.
But not everybody thinks like that. I do not.
And there are many people are increasing very suspicious of the left-wing bias of the BBC and ilk. It is known. The Times, The Sun, The Daily Mail newpapers & the Economist think otherwise (not anti-American, mostly Rupert Murdoch's empire - the Australian Tycoon).
But it has to be said: Bush has screwed up on his watch, big-time. That did not help and it has confused people in Europe no end. It makes the job of confronting Islamic militancy harder.
Iraq, without a doubt, was a mistake.
All that was needed was to contain Iraq.
Clinton's containment policies WERE right and were working. And Saddam would have done a better job of confronting Iran than we are right now.

You also need to bear in mind that
France & Germany are socialist with a small 's' (Democrat)
Britain is conservative with a small 'c' (Republican)
That means that irrespective of which party gets voted in, that is our basic leaning. Blair got voted in because he was a substitute Conservative party.

Europeans have to fight. You've surrendered to your fear and to the elites you have running your countries.

Well the Sunday France is likely to elect Sarkozy (mostly because the French know that their country has declined under socialism, they fear economic change, but it is inevitable if they wish to compete against China and India).
Sarkozy did not go to an elite French ecolé (school). He will be good for France, and America. And he is likely to better at addressing the Islamic problem.

Within 1 year, it is likely that Britain will throw out Labour and vote in the Conservatives.
But David Cameron is untested. He appears weak to me. Hopefully he is not.

And I cant wait for Israel to thow out Ehud Olmert and maybe bring in Benjamin Netanyahu who is a very tough Israel politican (thrown out for suspected corruption).

Literacy rate in Pakistan (1993 estimate) - 35 %. Female 22 %, male 47 %. A more recent estimate is average literacy 38 %, but possibly as low as 25 %.

Note that the guesstimated female literacy rate is not even HALF that of men's. If the jihadists keep on attacking girls' schools, it's going to drop even lower.
