More news from the people who, according to Condoleeza Rice, earnestly desire peace. From Agence France-Presse, with thanks to JE:
PALESTINIAN security officials are claiming that Hamas militants planned to assassinate Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas with explosives, as deadly factional fighting resumed in Gaza. The claims were made hours after Mr Abbas called off a trip to Gaza for talks aimed at reaching a definitive ceasefire between fighters from his Fatah party and Hamas that has left nearly 50 people dead and 100 wounded since Sunday.
"Abu Mazen's (Abbas's) visit to Gaza was cancelled after the discovery of a tunnel under Salaheddine Road full of explosives placed by the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades to blow up (his) convoy,'' said a senior security official, referring to Hamas's military wing.
"The explosives were found on the route that Abu Mazen takes to travel to Gaza,'' the source added, speaking from the Palestinian political capital of Ramallah in the West Bank.
An official in Abbas's office confirmed the report but Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Hamas armed wing, said, "these reports are aimed at poisoning the atmosphere in Gaza. We deny them completely.''
Not that the atmosphere in Gaza was poisoned before this. Oh, no. It was all peace and tolerance.

They do ernestly desire peace, on their terms, and that's the rub.
Dan Pipes has a good op-ed in jpost.com on the AKP in Turkey and Condi Rice's "superficial" support for it. He's being too kind.

good point jewdog:
If I may try to put it another way...
In their own bizarre twisted logic (if you can even call it that) one can see how they're "right" (in their own eyes)...
...most likely based on the military adage that "true peace can only be attained by exterminating the enemy"...so they do desire peace (their terms), their "peace" (different from normal definition)...
that will only come from the same belief that they have openly vowed...extremination of enemies.
Again, as Netanyahu said:
"If someone says they're going to extreminate you, believe it."
Even us gentiles can pick up on that one.

Too bad they found the Bomb. With Abbas gone, who would be left as a "Moderate"?????????? Hamas would be doing us a favor getting rid of the only Palestinian we even talk to.
Israel can absorb a few rocket attacks if Hamas and Fatah go about a full fledged Killing spree against each other.
Sometimes good news, well, almost good news, comes out of the Middle Ages, Mmmmm, East that is.
Nothing like the friction caused by the rubbing of Fast against Slow Jihad when the Kitchen is closed.

Sounds perfectly plausible and 'Islamic' to me.
Mind you, even if Mahmoud Abbas was blown all the
way to Allah would it make any difference?? Apart
from well honed skills in getting huge amounts of
Jizya from the Westin return for empty promises,Abbas has no other talents. Jihad Rats are welcome to kill each other off. At this rate Gaza will be another Somalia soon.

Someone posted the Hamas Charter yesterday. It is worth looking at if you didn’t see it:

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."

Morgane posted- At this rate Gaza will be another Somalia soon.
Oh please no Morgane, for if that happens, they will all be here.

Hamas and Fatah having a family spat? G Bush could stop that if he sent a few billion more dollars.
Pouring money into 'Palestine" or any Islamic conclave always slows down violence. They cant count the money and shoot at the same time...

"PALESTINIAN security officials are claiming that Hamas militants planned to assassinate Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas with explosives, as deadly factional fighting resumed in Gaza."
Fatah lived by the sword, it's only natural that their officials die by it.
Can't spend generations glorifying death and expect it won't come back to you.

It's just a matter of time.
Mohammad's will shall be the source of terror until it is rewritten.
All Muslims should be sent home to work it out.
They're too dangerous in their current uncertain condition.
Repatriation to Mecca, the sensible and peaceful solution.

Amusing that Hamas denies it when they have been trying to murder Abbas off and on.
It is highly possible in the coming war or cleansing that while Bashan wails in blood that Fatah will covertly be the Indian scouts sniping the trails of all Hamas.
In mafia families, one wipes out the competition. Olmert is driving out the Judeans for his European Ashkenazi minority and Abbas is waiting to have the Olmert cabal wipe out his opponents as his Fatah army cleans up the stragglers.
Always hard to tell an IDF bullet from a Fatah bullet.

This would mean nothing good or bad for Infidels, save in the sense that it would remove a slightly saner, but also cleverer adversary, a bit more willing to say what needs to be said to obtain American and other Infidel approval and support, for the same unacceptable and ultimately annihilationist aims.
If Slow Jihadists are eliminated by Fast Jihadists, but the elimination itself weakens international support for the same goal shared by the Fast and the Slow Jihadists, then it is not a "victory" for those who "are against peace" (as the same newspapers that idiotically affix the Homeric epithet -- Milman Parry, thou shouldst be living at this hour -- "moderate" to the name of smiling, cunning, corrupt, entirely untrustworthy, Mahmoud Abbas, who no more desires Israel to survive than did his old pal and boss, for whom he was an accomplice in terrorism over several decades, Yassir Arafat.
Only a fool in Israel would be sad to see Mahmoud Abbas go. Let the facade be ripped down. Let the real face of the shock troops of the Lesser Jihad against Israel, the "Palestinians," be shown.

A while back a famous Arab astrologer predicted that Abbas would be assasinated-- apparently many people believe this guy is very accurate:
World Net Daily, 2004:
>>>Arab astrologer predicts Bush assassination
Oracle famed for prophesying deaths of Diana, Yassin, Arafat
Posted: December 28, 2004
10:44 a.m. Eastern
A Tunisian astrologer who reportedly predicted the deaths of Princess Diana, Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Yasser Arafat says President Bush will be killed by an assassin's bullet in 2005.
So seriously are Hassan al-Sharibi's predictions taken in the Arab world that a similar prophecy about Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Mahmoud Abbas has resulted in increased security around the candidate to replace Arafat as president of the Palestinian Authority.

The Palestinians biting the hand that feeds them!
I mean plotting to take it away! They have proved to be the Liars they are! Murderers, never stops! They have no peace plan. They do not know peace! So telling!

Ya know the real kicker to all this...
Even their "fellow" islamists don't want them in their own countries...calling them, in effect, the "ghetto people" of that region...
...just to give you an idea of what their own neighbors think of them (which is the real reason the egyptians, lebanese, saudis, etc don't even want them around...hey, their words, not mine). Ironic, eh?

"Hamas plotted to kill"
Plotting to kill. What Hamas seems to do best. They must live/breath/eat these plots to kill, as they are full of hate and bitterness. Foul, toxic bitterness.

The "Palestinians" in the past have built long tunnels under IDF outposts, filled them with explosives, then detonated them. They have it down to a "science", it's their area of expertise, their specialty.
I hope it wasn't U.S. or Israeli intelligence that blew the whistle on this operation.

There maybe something to that...There are a couple of hadith references to Mohammad doing rituals to invoke evil onto the Jews. Mohammad provides the examples and sets the pace.
I noticed that there is a difference between 'invoking', and 'evoking'. Evoking would mean bringing evil into the physical, and projecting it to the Jews. More like conjuring up a demon and sending it to some enemy to haunt his dreams.
Thats clearly black magic.
'Invoking' means more to bringing the qualities of the invoked (in this case evil), into your self.
If Mohammad was really 'invoking' evil, that was a mistake. No wonder he was an epileptic and had severe headaches...
