Musician on controversial Flight 327 involved in similar incident on earlier flight

When Annie Jacobsen first wrote about Flight 327 in 2004, she was ridiculed as hysterical and smeared as racist. But now a new DHS report, released through a Washington Times FOIA request, appears to have vindicated her view that the flight was a probe or dry run by jihadists.

"More details on Flight 327 released," by Audrey Hudson in the Washington Times, with thanks to all who sent this in:

The inspector general for Homeland Security late Friday released new details of what federal air marshals say was a terrorist dry run aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 327 from Detroit to Los Angeles on June 29, 2004.

Several portions of the report remain redacted. The release stems from a Freedom of Information request by The Washington Times in April 2006. The Times first reported on July 22 that this and other probes and dry runs were occurring on commercial flights since the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Look for the full report in Wednesday's edition of The Times.

Excerpts fom 51-page inspector general report:

On the flight, 13 Middle Eastern men behaved in a suspicious manner that aroused the attention and concern of the flight attendants, passengers, air marshals and pilots.

Briefly, the following events occurred. Thirteen Middle Eastern men were traveling together as a musical group, 12 carrying Syrian passports and one, a lawful permanent resident of the United States of Lebanese descent, purchased one-way tickets from Detroit to Los Angeles. Six of the men arrived at the gate together after boarding began, then split up and acted as if they were not acquainted. According to air marshals, the men also appeared sweaty and nervous. An air marshal assigned to Flight 327 observed their behavior and characterized it as "unusual," but made no further reports at the time.

During the flight, the men again acted suspiciously. Several of the men changed seats, congregated in the aisles, and arose when the fasten seat belt sign was turned on; one passenger moved quickly up the aisle toward the cockpit and, at the last moment, entered the first class lavatory. The passenger remained in the lavatory for about 20 minutes. Several of the men spent excessive time in the lavatories. Another man carried a large McDonald's restaurant bag into a lavatory and made a thumbs-up signal to another man upon returning to his seat.

Flight attendants notified the air marshals on board of the suspicious activities.

In response, an air marshal directed a flight attendant to instruct the cockpit to radio ahead for law-enforcement officials to meet the flight upon arrival. After arriving, Flight 327 was met by federal and local law enforcement officials, who gathered all 13 suspicious passengers, interviewing two of them. An air marshal photocopied the passengers' passports and visas. The names of the suspicious passengers were run through FBI databases, indicating the musical group's promoter had been involved in a similar incident in January 2004. No other derogatory information was received, and all 13 of the men were released.

The whole purpose of terrorism is to cause fear in the general public.

Even if these men were just playing a prank on the passengers (or "Mau-Mauing" in Tom Wolfe's phrase), they caused fear in the other passengers.

Therefore, they were deliberately practicing terrorism.

If we were serious about this war, they shouldn't have been let go.

Gee, I wonder if "kiera" and "reza" will say
sorry. Somehow I doubt it.

They want their own banking, and their own prayer rooms, etc. Let them have their
own planes.

The FBI should have checked what music was in their cases.

I would have been suspicious of "The Gotterdammerung" was a selection.

Or "Jihad" (by the Prevaricators).

I hope the intelligence services have continued to follow up on these guys. Who they contacted after this kind of "dry run" is likely to be revealing.

I wonder if they're still flying around America, testing the water and deliberately terrorizing airline passengers and flight crews. The notorious November imams blatantly encouraged adverse reactions so they could file a frivolous lawsuit, which I hope and pray backfires in their filthy faces.

Air travel has devolved to an almost intolerable level since 9/11, with new restrictions, inconveniences, and regulations added to the long list continuously. I was two minutes late for the 30 minute check-in deadline last week and it cost me $25 to take a later flight and seven wasted hours in the Memphis and Atlanta airports. I could have carried my bag on but all of my cosmetics would have gone in the trash, as well as some very expensive perfume and champagne. I just couldn't stand there and watch the TSA staff gleefully toss an unopened bottle of Dom Perignon, still in the box, in the garbage.

All I could think about as I made the decision to check my bag and wait it out was the fact that muslims are responsible for turning air travel into a nightmare. It used to be so pleasant and uneventful and now you never know what to expect. Muslims---what are they good for?

I have a strange feeling that this was the last dry run and it was successful. Except for the fact that they were detected by excessive movement and abnormal behaviour, they achieved what they wanted to from this dry run. I expect a real McCoy. I want to be wrong.

Of course, they do.

And since all religions are the same, I'm sure someone can think of examples of when Christian/Jewish/Hindu/Buddhist pilots started chanting to their god of choice and pointed the plane's nose at the ground. Happens all the time.

HMMM...Champagne and perfume...HMMM...

I would think it is a natural course of events that jihadidts would try dry runs. 13 jihadists playing games is prety expensive, but , I guess with all those MI bucks, money is no object...

I think maybe it's not only "dry runs" but simple harassment, a kind of muscle flexing and showing off, a form of psychological intimidation that keeps them in the news and in the consciousness of young Muslims they want to entrap.

It shouldn't be surprising that Muslims would be involved in intimidation tactics since Islam is a power ideology. We Infidels should do two things: Try to live life as unintimidated as we can, and reduce Muslim immmigration to the West.

Why are you surprised? The Homeland Security Chief has already said that they aren't to link Islam to terrorism for P(roven)C(rap) reasons. And the borders are to remain unsecure for economic ones only the gurus in Washington DC seem to benefit from.

Airlines need a passenger Civil Rights Act that allows the passenger a right to delay a plane for any reason at any time prior to take off, if the passenger simply wants off the plane for any reason. This way nobody feelings have to be hurt when you simply do not want to travel with jihadi (the religious one) whom you fear is a gaszi (an infidel slayer).

"An air marshal assigned to Flight 327 observed their behavior and characterized it as "unusual," but made no further reports at the time."
-- from the article above

"Unusual"? Without more? What might explain such a mild description, and what explains having the thirteen let go? Fear of how it would look? Fear of CAIR and the people who support CAIR? Was that ever a consideration? And in matters of potential mass death, should that ever be given the slightest consideration -- or is not the fear, at every step, of now offending Muslims (false offending, pretend victimhood, manufactured indignation) itself one of the most useful weapons of violent (and all the other kinds) of Jihad?

Posted by: Hugh [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 28, 2007 6:29 AM

this is for sure a "dry run", but what answers did they come up with? did they think they could do these antics without being detected, or where they mearly doing what the infamous immans wanted to achieve, lawsuits?
what would you do if you happen to sit next to one of them would you openly question their actions, insult mohummad, islam just to get a rise from them?
l would think to insult them with a rather funny question, ie since you regard mohummad the perfect man, does that mean you get to rape little nine years old girls?

Can't you Americans see that these idiots were teasing you, as a writer above notes they were causing terror in you with their implied reactions. If it had been me on the plane I would have walked over to them and laughed at the cliche they were showing themselves to be, maybe even thrown in an Allahu Akbar just to put the wind up their tails.

AND if some guy goes into the bathroom with a FULL McDonalds bag and comes out with an EMPTY one I could not resist drawing attention to his disgusting eating habits.

If some guy is acting like a potential terrorist on a plane, how about just laughing at him first. I think that is what we would do in Australia.

This was not terrorism. This was a bunch of Muslims teasing and psyching out Americans who mostly cowered in fear. These Muslim boyz were having some fun at our expense.

Was not a terrorist dry run. Just Muslim intimidation on board a flight which is reason enough to throw them in jail and try them. But that didn't happen due to the political correctness of the Gov't slugs in charge of airport security

Above were the last unrecorded words of an Islamist sympathizer aboard the United Airlines Flight 175. Subsequently, concerned passengers more fortunate than their predecessors have been labelled racist paranoid Islamophobes for being unable to distinguish between an act of terrorism and some jovial horseplay performed by a handful of USA haters going about their everyday business.

One problem airline staff always come across: the whole world arrives at the airport and brings their problems with them.

This article definitely builds a case for profiling the behaviours of potential plane travellers. It must be done in such a way as to not be a burden to the average traveller, i.e. allow everyone, but ban on the first hint of recalcitrant behaviour.

Muslims (especially those eager to imitate their "prophet") are, unfortunately, gaining a worse and worse track record in this regard.

It was a "dry run".

Why?

To see how much they can and can't get away with. It has two purposes...

(1) Everytime a dry run happens and nothing is found they can claim victemhood and discrimination. CAIR and can get up and scream etc. It weakens the defenses like any good diversion. Enough "false alarms" makes people lax.

(2) It gives other jihadist examples of what is a no-no and what you can get away with. It allows them to make better plans for the real thing. The two groups don't even have to know each other. All the jihadist have to do is read the report.

The most important part of the test was the time. How long did it take the authorities to one be warned of what was going on and two how long before action was taken. Time is critical in these kind of attacks.

The attempt to intimidate Annie Jacobsen, even the attempt to use the law to silence those who report facts, critically analyse Islam, is not new. This has occurred before in America. One such conflict lasted over a decade prior to the Civil War. It was the "speech code" issue of its time.

The "Slaveocracy" of the Old South (as J.Q. Adams angrily call it) attempted to make illegal all speech critical of slavery in congress, in the South and even in the North (they tried to shut down Garrison's Liberator magazine). Old former President J.Q. Adams fought like a tiger to get rid of the "gag rules" in congress as he warned that the issue of free speech was at stake, that the issue was one with issue of the bondage of the Americans held by the slave holders.

The attempt to silence Adams and others did much to make the Abolition Movement into a mighty force. Ordinary folks saw clearly that the "Slaveocracy" was a threat to all free people. The Muslims who attempt to harass and intimidate, to silence those who critically analyse Islam, to silence people who report facts on provocative Muslim behavior, are a similar threat to freedom.

Wanna bet if a Caucasian , non Arab/M.E looking person uttered the word "Hijack" under their breath or acted as suspiciously and someone heard it i bet they'de be tackled and taken off the plane and arrested instantaniously.
That would be a safemove for the authorities cause then no Muslims could be outraged and the authorities wouldn't have to be in fear of being not PC and face the reprisals.
They are making next to impossible for honest people to report or stand up against threats or suspicions. we are being conditioned in our culture to not stand up for ourselves or what is right anymore.

The attempt by some Muslims to criminalize speech that is critical of Islam, the attempt to silence ordinary citizens who report provocative Muslim behavior on aircraft and other places, are "gag rules". This attempt to silence people will back-fire. The first amendment right to the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions based on reason is in danger from Muslims who want to impose "gag rules". Ordinary people see that.

If (I pray it never happens again) the jihadists ever try to hijack a plane, I hope there are enough people, men and women who will rise up and take the plane back. There is after all, a 200 to 4 or 5 majority. Some will die in the fight to kill those bastards, but all will die if they are allowed to hijack the plane.

Use carry-on baggage as shields and rush them...overwhelming numbers will work.

H*ll, Homeland Security should be holding seminars for the flying public on how to defend an airliner, instead they are telling us not to worry.

Posted by: interestinconundrum [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 28, 2007 10:54 AM

Muslims fly aircraft into buildings. The victims families are paid off. New departments with unelected officals running them are created. The gubment bends over backwards in search of sensitivity for the perpetrators ideology. The airports are turned into prisons, prisons where some of the more violent inmates are pulling the strings. Take a good look people, this is what totalitarianism looks like. Right now it is at the airport but when a bus or train is blown up get ready to lose more of your rights. The gubment does not care about you, your rights, the Constitution or the Bill of rights. These agencies are more dangerous than the terrorists. They pave the way for the islamists to do what ever they feel like doing. Free speech, not for long, the islamists and their demoncrat allies combined with unelected agency officials/employees have begun their assault on all of us and ee are allowing it. If you fly I will say, you probably would have got on a cattle car in Germany during the early forties, anyone who participates in this hoax will not have their freedom of anything in the future. You sacrificed freedom for security and guess what now you have neither, so the old saying is true. I amazes me that with all that has gone on some people still think that the gubment cares about protecting you. The gubment is in bed with the islamists, it is as obvious as the nose on your face. I have no use for any of them, I won’t even give them the time of day. I am watching and waiting, for a state, any state to fight back independently against the islamogubment. I will gladly move there, im a good citizen, I buy things, hire people, contribute to my community and obey the laws. I will take all of this to the state that finally stands up to this islamogubment and says enough, states rights mean something and we have an obligation to look after our citizens! You can get rid of Bush but that won’t solve the problem. The unelected and unfireable anti Americans will still be there in these depts, destroying our country as they collect a salary from taxpayers. Its mean, I’m cruel, but I hope every last one of them ends up in the hands of the islamists, it would be the best thing that ever happened to us. Let them deal with those among us who want to lie down with them, that way we end up with zero blood on our hands yet we reap the benefits of a major housecleaning. Americans, take back your country, it starts with loudly refusing to give up your rights, it continues with where you work and for whom, it goes on with where and what you buy. If you give it up these rats will take it from you and then crap in your face later, isnt that obvious now? All I can say is, what a freaking disgrace!

We will never know if this was a dry run. What we do know is that Muslims are teasing us and the seciurity apparatus.

They are playing mind games, instilling a "fear" of terrorism. That is how mohammed played it - "I have been made victorious through terror". Terrorism's first goal is to instll that fear, which then paralyses the victim society.

This startegy was tried out by a couple of students(muslims it hardly needs mentioning), who boarded a flight from Manchester to Spain, and then returned on the same day. Their stated reason was tourism. They behaved in such a manner that other apssengers simply insisted that they be taken off the flight or they werent going to fly. Period. This served notice on the airline staff and security alike. Any person behaving in suspicious a manner, would be intercepted, for fear that passengers would delay the flight.

I really feel that people behaving in a manner to cause alarm and distress to other passengers on a flight, should be treated in the same way a person who shouts "FIRE" in a crowded hall.

So hopefully today's report will give some credence to what Ms Jacobsen wrote...

It is time we stopped messing around. How many innocent civilians of all races and creeds have been killed by the insane fanatics who use Islam as their excuse? Think of the children on the 9/11 planes, think what they felt as they were flown into buildings and killed. Think of the children in Baghdad schools blown up by Sunni/Shiite fanatics....

This is not a game people, this is DEADLY serious. It's time we started seriously profiling...

Yes, I know that won't catch all the suicidal nuts but it will stop many of them.

Profiling isn't wrong, it's common sense. If you have a problem with it - turn your anger to the person who caused the profiling, not the security official just doing his/her job to keep you safe.

Look at the following:

Politically Correct, To A Fault

To ensure we Americans never offend anyone – particularly fanatics intent on killing us – airport screeners are not allowed to profile people.

They will, however, continue to perform random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President’s security detail, and 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips (these all have taken place- with the Congressman undergoing a strip search!) Let’s pause a moment and take the following test which entails a history of contemporary terrorism (we Americans have such short memory spans) in chronological order:

In 1970: American University of Beirut President, Malcolm Kerr, was murdered in Beirut, Lebanon by:
A. Huey, Dewie and Louie
B. Heckle and Jeckle
C. Sylvester and Tweetie or
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages 17 and 40.

In September 1970, TWA Flight #741 and Pan Am Flight #93 were hijacked by:
A. The Marx Bros.
B. The Smothers Bros.
C. The Franciscan Brothers or
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages of 17 and 40 (in the case of the so-called Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) who then flew the planes to Amman, Jordan).

In 1972, 11 Israeli athletes were killed in the Munich Olympics by:
A. Grandma Moses
B. The night cleaning crew at Rockefeller Center
C. Invaders from Mars or
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

In March 1973, U.S. Ambassador Cleo Noel & DCM George Moose were murdered in Khartoum Sudan by:
A. Tom & Jerry
B. Ben & Jerry
C. Dean & Jerry
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

In June 1976 U.S. Ambassador, Francis Meloy and Two other Americans were killed in Lebanon by:
A. The Lennon Sisters
B. The Pointer Sisters
C. The Sisters of Mercy
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

In 1979, The U.S. Embassy in Iran was taken over and embassy officials held hostage for 14 months by:
A. Norwegians from the Lichen Herbarium of the University of Oslo;
B. Elvis;
C. A tour bus filled with 80-year-old women; or
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

In April 1983, U.S. Embassy in Beirut was attacked with 49 killed and 120 wounded by:
A. The Three Stooges
B. The Three Musketeers
C. The Three Blind Mice or
D. Muslim “extremists” mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

In October 1983, the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up killing 241 U.S. Marines and injuring hundreds of others by:
A. A Pizza delivery boy;
