Britons kidnapped in Baghdad

By gunmen wearing police uniforms. The fact that it is apparently so easy to get these uniforms could be connected to the fact that there is no attempt made to ensure that those the government employs do not also support the jihad in some way. "Britons kidnapped by gunmen in Baghdad," by Nico Hines, Sam Knight, and Deborah Haynes in the TimesOnline:

Up to five Britons were abducted from a government building in Baghdad today in a brazen kidnapping by gunman dressed in police uniforms.

The victims were four bodyguards and a British economic adviser working at the Finance Ministry for BearingPoint, a US consultancy firm.

The guards are employed by GardaWorld, a Canadian firm that also protects Canon Andrew White, the vicar of St George's Church in Baghdad, and his Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME).

Men in police uniforms are kidnapping civilians.

Men in army uniforms are laying roadside bombs.

When do we get out of there?

Do those who "support the jihad in some way" qualify as Islamists? Are they the type who only want the coalition out of Iraq and would never impose their system on others? Will they be satisfied with the departure of the coalition or will it be on to the next step? Would they call themselves "mildly Islamist"?

According to Amil Imani:

"Being mildly Islamist is as plausible as being mildly pregnant. There is no such a thing as mild Islam. It only starts mildly, just the way Muhammad himself started it in Mecca. Then, it builds momentum and settles for nothing less than the total imposition of its dogma and will. Being mildly Islamist is only the head of the camel poking into the room. Wherever the head of the animal goes, if it is not chopped off the body eventually follows."

The "Muslim" allies are proving themselves to be nothing more than "Muslim" enemies....

The Last Word on Islam (from PMK):

"There is no such a thing as mild Islam. It only starts mildly, just the way Muhammad himself started it in Mecca."

I do believe that's the final, unalterable truth about Islam. Yeah, it's mild, just so long as they don't have the numbers. But once it spreads, it's only radiation therapy that may save the host state.

The victims were four bodyguards?
If bodyguards can't protect themselves, how can they safeguard others?

Not soon enough, that is for sure.

It will be interesting to know what the political price will be to get them released, unless it was done for monetary reason. They could just want to keep in practice by cutting a few infidels throats. Iraqi is nothing more than a sump which we throw money into along with a good no of American British and other countries soldiers lives. Our politicians are suffering under the delusion that they can change things. What we should do is retire into bases and let them get on with it, and see that there is a fair fight, well as fair as it can be there in the Middle East. It is bound the take them a few years before we get a peace of exhaustion. It took 30 years in Europe before the Catholics and the Protestants signed the treaty of Westphalia in 1648. 30 years should just be about right, the two parties are just as pig headed as the Catholics and the Protestants were in that time. Oil should be running out about then and they wont have the finances to carry on. We in the west will have made enough money selling them arms and they will have been distracted from the Global Jihad and afterwards they wont have the money to carry on with it because they will be so poor. Don't worry they will sell the oil and they wont attack each others oil refineries because they will need the money to buy the weapons. They didn't do it in the last war between Iran and Iraqi so why should they do it now. You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear which is what we are trying to do now. Our politicians should know that.

If I am not mistaken, Iraqi police and military uniforms are made of special cloth that is hard to duplicate. The article says that the gunmen were dressed in police uniforms, the inference being that the uniforms are counterfeit or stolen. I wouldn't make that assumption. I assume it is active Iraqi police officers.

Al Qaeda don't usually wear uniforms so it's probably Shia, maybe doing it for money rather than propaganda. Although it could be revenge because the Brits killed the top Shiite militia leader last week. The Brits are our brothers and I pray they are released quickly.

I also believe Iran is behind this and the number 5 has some meaning.

The US took 5 Iranian Revolutionary Guards, who were found in Iraq, prisoner weeks ago.

Iran is holding captive 5 US citizens, calling them spies. Now 5 Brits are kidnapped. Go figure.

Got my vote on that! Iran! Now they have how many?
