This is the young man who was afraid it might be "racist" to say something to authorities about this. That is, apparently, the substance of the "moral dilemma" noted below. God help us.
From CNN, with thanks to Scott:
NEW YORK (CNN) -- The tipster responsible for helping authorities thwart a possible terrorist attack on a U.S. military base said Tuesday he experienced a "moral dilemma" over whether to report what he had seen.Brian Morgenstern, a 26-year-old clerk at a Circuit City in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, was given the 8 mm tape January 31, 2006, by two men, whom he described as "normal people." They asked him to convert it to DVD format.
Authorities said the tape showed 10 young men shooting at a practice range and shouting in Arabic, "Allahu Akbar" -- "God is great."
Morgenstern said the video showed the men with hand guns and rifles that appeared to be "fully automatic weapons."
"I saw some stuff on the film that was disturbing and it kind of gained my attention that way," he told CNN's "American Morning."
"I started paying more attention to it," he said.
The tape's contents worried him. "I thought about whether or not it should be reported. I actually waited that night and weighed out my decisions, and I went home and talked to my family about it."
The next day, Morgenstern returned to work and told his manager about the tape and his decision to alert the police. He described Circuit City as being "very supportive" regarding the situation.

Thank the manager too, for not playing like a PC dhimmicrat who would have told the youngster to "forget about it"...

Just like that Brit who worked with the July 7th bombers and didn't report them to authorities...his only objection was their views on Jews, since his wife was Jewish!
Oy Vey...

I don't think this kid realizes that countless lives that he saved by his actions. We need more vigilant people like this in this country, and less of the wussy PC types who refuse to take a stand in the interest of multi-culturalism or of not insulting anyone. That is what the enemy wants.

You got that right. We have an enemy that considers targeting civilians as well as military to be their God-given duty, which means that we civilians might have to fight back. Sometimes, it's civilians who do a better job than the authorities or their bureaucracy. For example, the Beltway snipers were apprehended thanks to tips by civilians, not by the misguided description (white guy in a van) put out by the police.
For those PC types and CAIR-types out there, if you don't want islam and terrorism to be conflated, don't cry "islamophobia" every time someone defends himself or others against terrorism. By doing so, YOU conflate Islam and terrorism.

Isn't this just the kind of reporting CAIR wants stopped;
Namely the suspicious behavior by a particular religion (Islam), ethnicity, or nationality..
I do wonder why...

In 2000, Mohammed Atta was "in the belly of the beast" he intended to slay: the Federal Building in Houston, applying for an agricultural loan. Finance the attack on the Great Satan with the Great Satan's money! How smart! During the conversation with a woman loan officer, he told her that he admires Osama bin Laden. Then he pointed at the large, panoramic photograph on the wall of the White House and the US Capitol and asked her how would she liked it if all that was blown up. He also asked her how would she like to have her throat cut. Through it all, she kept repeating as if in a trance: "Well, we are very happy to have you here in the United States, and the best of luck to you in your endeavors". Her only concern apparently was not to run afoul of the political correctness rules in dealing with this "middleeastern gentleman". As a Canadian columnist later put it: "She was in a sensitivity coma". In his e-mail to fellow jihadis those days, Atta kept repeating: "The enemy is stupid". Stupid indeed. This is the same government that sent approved visas to dead 9/11 hijackers 6 months AFTER 9/11 to the day, along with a cheery letter ("Dear Mr. Atta, welcome to the United States ... ").

In the opposite respect, be sure to not shop Target.
This is the company that, under the leadership of Bob Uhlrich of Minnesotastan, chased Santa Claus off of store property as unacceptable and discriminatory and brought official Sharia to American shores the first time as culturally sensitive and multicultural.

Like Bush or not, he did ask every American to be Vigilante. Thankfully some are, despite the level of bamboozlement in the Press.
We, the People, have no restrictions on profiling. Some may not like it but so what. Everybody hasn't gone back to sleep.

How does he feel about now having the title of 'target'?

And in 2001, in the run-up to 9/11, an unsung American hero Steven Emerson was giving a lecture in Washington, D.C. to personnel from all US government agencies at a forum on the likeliest threats to the US national security. The educated, career public servants displayed totalitarian unanimity in their opinion: The Chinese are coming! China is the threat! China is determined to launch ballistic nuclear missles at us! China! China!! China!!! Somebody help, China!!!!!! Do you remember the totally insane "perfect storm" of anti-Chinese hysteria in 2001 triggered by the US spy plane incident? There was no political correctness toward the Chinese! Steven disagreed. "The most real threat is a large-scale terror attack by Islamic fundamentalists within the United States", he said. The audience were dismissive. "The fundamentalists will never attack here, because they know our response will be so horrific, that it will not be worth it for them", they said. "No, argued Steve prophetically, "the US response will be very restrained. The Islamists have built a large demographic base here, and have numerous aggressive, influential advocacy, "civic" and "human rights" groups. They will intimidate the US government into restaining its response out of fear of "offending" Muslims". His words were wasted on public servants. And we rely on those pompous imbeciles to protect us in this dangerous world! The forum left Steve in despair. "We are doomed", he told a friend from his awesome Investigative Project.

Doing the right thing is not heroic, it is civic duty. He called the authorities, as well he should have. If he had done less he should be prosecuted...I will buy him a beer however.

"The tipster responsible for helping authorities thwart a possible terrorist attack on a U.S. military base said Tuesday he experienced a "moral dilemma" over whether to report what he had seen."
Isn't this what the left in this country have been trying to achieve for a couple of generations now, creating moral dilemmas where none should exist.
The very fact that this young man was besedged by doubts about the morality of turning "people of color" in despite what he was looking at on those tapes, says somethig about how powerful a whip the label "racism" has become in silencing people who should be speaking up.
Can anyone doubt that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people out there who would have remained silent in this situation, for fear of being accused of being "judgemental", "racist", or being guilty of some other "Phobia?"
Many people can be grateful that this young man had the strength of mind and moral fortitude to buck the new and improved PC morality, and make the right moral decision in the end.
He must have good parents.

"We need more vigilant people like this in this country."
I'm happy this person alerted his boss in time, for he was very much responsible for preventing the attacks at Fort Dix, but we need people who are not afraid to be bound by the confines of political correctness like this young man was. It should not be a moral dilemma as to if one should take action when he has witnessed jihadist behavior. This man's apprehension as to whether or not he should take action to raise alarms about the behavior being exhibited in the jihadist's video should be appalling and frustrating to all of us. It is representative of the multiculturalist, politically correct society we live in - a totalitarian society in which alternative views an opinions are shut down under the threat of being called a "racist" or "Islamophobe".
This young man's first concern was whether or not he was being politically correct in reporting the video to his boss, not the actual jihadist material contained in the video itself.

That is part of the problem. Islamic apologists claim victimhood status because they want non-muslims to see them as a "race" or a legitimate religion instead of the cult of death that Islam really is.

Enraged - interesting stories indeed! I won't ask how you know these things, because then you'd have to kill me.
God bless Steve Emerson. But ---- China. Let me first say I love Chinese people, culture, language, philosophy, etc. But the regime is bad, is engaged in a huge military buildup (900 missiles opposite Taiwan), is buying up natural resources worldwide, is a major arms player, is an enabler of North Korea which in turn proliferates to the Middle East jihadists, etc. I'm afraid that World War 4 (#3 was the Cold War against the Soviet Union), the War Against Militant Islam, is the West (Western Christendom plus Israel), plus (I wish) India, versus the jihadists, who, I fear, are backed by Russia and China just to take America down a peg. That is a very dangerous game for them, and Russia should absolutely know better. After Beslan, how can Russia play footsie with Ahmadinejad? China may have its own hell to deal with in Xinjiang - East Turkestan.
Bottom line - there are multiple problems out there. Forget Fortress America, friends. America has to save the world, again and again and again.

Another unsung hero , of course , is John O'Neill
Yet we back Islamist Pakistan , the Russians back Infidel India , we back the Islamist KLA , the Russians back the Infidel Serbs........And so the own goals continue , ad infinitum
Atta was right . We really are "stupid"
But don't worry , Afghanistan and Iraq are now democratic.
Correction: I think Atta was being way too kind when he called us "stupid"

The clerk should not return to his job, but someone reading this ought to find him out, and offer him a better job, with better pay -- perhaps the Department of Homeland Security will feel a moral obligation to employ him -- and one that is safer. No more Willie-Sutton-and-Arnold-Schuster problems are needed.

I am grateful that Mr. Morgenstern and his supportive manager had the wit and the courage to do the right thing. I was at Fort Dix over this past weekend, and some friends of mine with the Maryland Army National Guard are there now preparing for active service deployments. His actions may have saved my life.

It should be obvious from his surname that Morgenstern will be particularly vulnerable to retaliatory attacks by our Muslim enemies. I hope he is afforded adequate protection from local police or even the feds, but I'm not optimistic.

I saw him on FOX and Friends this weekend. He looked very nervous and it seemed he'd told his story about a thousand times. He had one "no comment" moment, that may have dealt with the investigation that he couldn't comment about. But other than that, he gave his name, his city, the name of his employer, the fact that subsequent to his reporting the incident(remember, a 16-month investigation ensued), he was promoted by Circuit City and now works in another store.
He first noticed the arrests by watching television and discovered there that it was a result of his tip. He was not involved in the sting operation.
He mentions his family.
I believe the point of Robert's posting is that the multicultural society we live in has primed us for dhimmitude. For young Mr. Morganstern to feel uncomfortable reporting the activity bespeaks the unfortunate bravery that we as Westerners are going to have to muster in order to resist the insidious creep of Islam.
Starting from normalcy (sane, as pointed out above), it would be simple to report what one sees. The PC establishment has cowed a once brave people into wimpitude. Well...not totally.
