He killed his brother for leaving Islam. Najib Bellari Update: a translation of this French article by Jihad Watch reader Marc:
Bellari now wants a lawyerDavid Santerre
Le Journal de Montréal
As the trial is leading towards closure, Najib Bellari, who is defending himself without a lawyer from accusations of killing his brother El-Medhi because, among other reasons, his brother had chosen to leave Islam, has unexpectedly requested a lawyer.
He made this request after hearing the plea from the Crown prosecutor Me. Éliane Perreault, who literally shattered to pieces his version of the crime, in which he acted in self-defense. This led to an adjournment of the proceedings presided over by Judge Marc David.
Testifying in his own defense Monday, Bellari said he had no choice but to kill his brother, who paid him a visit while on the job at Basha, the restaurant where he was working as a dishwasher, on Sainte-Catherine street in Montreal. Bellari said his brother told him: "'Najib, come with me, I have to talk to you.' I shouted at him: 'Get out of here!,'" the 36-year-old defendant said.
A knife
When his brother insisted, Najib said, he took a chef's knife and pointed it toward his brother.
"But he moved back and held a chair over his head, as if he was going to hit me. I protected myself and struck him with the knife," he reported.
"I was in a state of self-defense. I had no choice but to kill my brother. I was working peacefully and he came to provoke me. It’s destiny," he added.
There was not a shadow of a self-defense in Me. Perreault's version.
"His brother was not the assailant. He was moving back. He did not advance towards him. All the witnesses said that Mr. Bellari (the victim) did not have a chair in his hands when he was stabbed," she said.
She also had to address the concerns of the judge, who suggested on several occasions during the court proceedings that perhaps the accused did not have all his mental capacities at the time. According to the Crown’s attorney Me. Perreault, Bellari gave the clearest of explanations to address this concern at the time of his testimony.
"All those who are not Muslims are Satan," affirmed the accused.
"The last time I saw him, I had asked: 'Do you believe in God? (Allah). Are you a Muslim?' He answered no, he did not believe any more. This is very serious," he explained.

His brother died a happier man as a non Muslim...It appears he had come to realize Islam is for losers...

I don't know about his brother's feelings on the matter, but I know I'd rather die than believe that clap-trap...of course, I'd rather take a few of 'em to Hell with me first.

I think that a website that lists moslems arrested and convicted of crimes related to perpetrating or supporting terrorism here and abroad, sharia (like this story), etc would be extremely interesting.
Does anyone know of any such website?

i don't know of a site like that, per se, but there's a site that lists all the terrorist attacks committed in the name of izlam for years: www.thereligionofpeace.com

bellari. He murdered his brother, goes to court without knowledge of law and without a lawyer, proclaims "all those who are not muslims are satan!" Unlike his brother, good god almighty, he must have been conceived in the shallow end of the gene pool. C.A.I.R. to comment?

I was under the impression that the dead man had worked at Basha. Now it appears that the killer did so. Well, the restaurant will not be on my list, nor that of others, I trust. There is guilt by association. Those who give employmwent to others who have the views of such a killer should find that they are unemployable in the West, and go home. And those who employ them, those who employ them and have the ability, as fellow Arabs, to figure out their views, should be made to share in the consequences of whatever acts such people engage in.
If Basha suffers as a result, other Muslim (and non-Muslim) employers will take note. And should.

This story makes one wonder how Senator Obama was able to safely 'renounce' Islam--or DID he??? (I don't believe that he did). Wouldn't this man be living in a witness protection program under an alias if he really was an ex-Muslim turned Christian?
I also think there IS a jihad actively going on in Canada presently. The above article tends to heighten my suspicions.
I think The Terrorism Awareness Project in its presentation on "What Every American needs to Know About Jihad" should highlight Canada in green just as it (accurately) highlights the USA and Argentina in green. (It should also highlight in green the Balkan nations including Bosnia and Serbia).

"...the Crown prosecutor Me. Éliane Perreault, who literally shattered to pieces his version of the crime..."
You mean to tell me, a little old girl "shattered" this guy's version of the story?
Islam sucks.

Well, at least he's honest about his cult of death:
put simply, it's: "death to all who oppose us!"

No better way to combat Satan than by murdering your brother. It always seems to be this "Alice through the looking glass" bi-polar view of reality which has these types ultimately asking for lawyers. Ten to one the defense plays the "cultural uniqueness of the crime" angle.

Impossible to stand by Islam with headlines like these.

Yes Hughs,
I already apply the advice you shared. Basha has long been on my "avoid at all cost list".
If you want to eat Middle Eastern food in Montreal, you go Adonis, the owner is Lebanese of Christian background and is often the target of local Arabic Paper's hate, especially the Sadar El Mashrek, A pro hezbollah Arabo-shiite newspaper.
A few years back he gave a large donation to rebuild the Jewish Library that was vandalized
(fire) by Montreal a couple of Muslims of Arab background, one encouraged by his own mummy.

I found an English media that covered this last part of the trial.
They are, as we can expect, a little more restraint in "naming" the issues and the cause... Yet, they couldn't deny the blatant facts. After it was Bellari hiself who shared his intention, his ideological motivations, his story and his actions.
Something interesting:
The Judge and some media wanted to demonstrate somehow that there is mental issues with the accused...
Nop !
Bellari says he is sane,
the Attorney says he is sane,
witnesses shared what they heard,
his colleagues said he is sane and one of them even added. in a testimony (from the previous article) that he was inspired by Bellari's scholarly grasp of islamic wisdom...
But the media and the judge still want to believe this is out of the ordinary !
Here is a quote from the English media that adds even more horror to this reality: Yes friends, he is sane !
----" Throughout his trial, the judge has questioned Bellari's mental state. On several occasions, the judge has offered to stop the trial so that Bellari can undergo a psychiatric evaluation, but every time Bellari has refused.
The Crown will present closing arguments, but Bellari won't. He said he has nothing to add."""

The judge seems to have been deliberately creating an issue for appeal. You can't blame him for believing this man is insane. The judge was raised with a different belief system and just cannot comprehend how something like this could happen or why a defendant would present it as a mitigating factor for murder (even though it would guarantee him an acquittal in Saudi Arabia).

Okay, Hugh, you convinced me. I'll find someplace else to eat when I go to Montreal next week. Remember, the owner said that the murderer used to answer his questions about Islam. He doesn't need my patronage.

Is there such a thing as "Muslim psychiatry"?
How could there be?
It would require questioning things.
An activity pre-forbidden by the Inshallah fatalism of the Koran.
You cannot be "mad" under Islam.
(It would be as redundant as ordering a glass of water beneath Niagra Falls. )

Mr. Reinsfeld:
This is considered a terror attack by your definition and should be posted on your TROP website as a terror attack. I am sure this will make CAIR Canada proud. According to your website, this would be the third documented terror attack in Canada since 9-11-2001.

Najib Bellari thinks he is in a Sharia Court where everything he says as a Muslim is true and what a non-Muslim says is a lie.
Perhaps in a few years Canada, like Great Britain and the rest of Europe, will have Sharia Courts that can give him "true justice".
They didn't say what faith his brother "adopted" after leaving Islam, but I bet it was Christianity, and if so, why the silence about it.
Someone mentioned above "Muslim psychiatry". Well "Muslim psychiatry" would be the same type of psychiatry that deals with delusional homicidal maniacs. A "Muslim psychiatrist" would find a homicidal killer of all infidels by a Muslim as "healthy".

One day, Lord willing, the West will get wise and engage in mass deportations, mass internment of Muslims, and/or execute the radical ones as spys and sabateurs.

A possible explanation of what is happening here:
Najib Bellari didn't want a lawyer because maybe he thought he was expecting the following mythical court events:
Judge: "Is there a reason that you killed your brother?"
Accused: "It was self-defence [of Islam]"
Judge: "What were the circumstances of self defence?"
Accused: "He was an apostate: I had no choice but to kill my brother. I was in a state of self-defense [of Islam]"
Judge: "Oh, an apostate! Oh, sorry for detaining you - you may go. Bailiff, bring me the police who unjustly detained our brother for doing Allah's work."
Once the reality struck him that in Canada the above fanciful acquittal was not going to happen, as might happen in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, Bellari realised that he might need a lawyer.

I hope the Judge respecting the diversity and multiculturalism of Canada wore one of those Islamic Pajamas over her head out of respect to Islam and the faithful Muslim!!!
/sarcasm off
Oh how I pray for the destruction of everything Islamic. The destruction of Islam and all the evil that it is.
Thank God also for the Second Amendment. Get Ready! Get Ready! Get Ready!

To which we must respond "I'm Satan" - "No I'm Satan" - in an endless parade of neo-Spartacus displays of solidarity.
Then we can get on to real deal "My Satan is bigger than yours" - "Oh no it isn't" - "Oh yes it is"
I'm not a "fan of Stan" but anything that annoys the people that annoy me is fair play ..

In the book of Revelations in the New Testament, the Lord says "I am the alpha and the omega". We should ask ourselves, what is the alpha and omega of this man's presumed mental illness? Why is he mad, and why did it end in fratricide? My guess from so little information is he grew up in a mentally abusive environment with a steady diet of misogyny, paranoia and hate directed at the "other", in this case infidels. His brother suffered the same fate but found a way out, into a belief system that freed him from all this terrible baggage. But Najib could not escape.
This seems to be the alpha and omega, not of a merciful creator, but of Islam. May more find their way out, like Najib's brother. He is a real martyr, the kind that Muslims would not recognize, or would not be able to acknowledge openly for fear of following him into the grave.

Bellari is a product of arrogant selfserving superiority complex who thinks his "honor" is worth taking his brother's life. All for a non-existent moon-god. I would love to see a website on islamic psychiatry. Actually I think we have one right here. Thanks for the good work people.

My evaluation is just like him others put their own thinking of that of gods! Judge you, know more than you and more powerful! They can take your 'life!' woo.., how hard is that? They do it when you are vulnerable! I would like to see a boxing match with these bullies! Would they even dare fight!? How about a girl, I would try to kick his ass!
They have not even tested their own knowledge! Rookies! The devils tools! The devils fuel for fire!
