Jessica Stern is one of those people who ends up, somehow, at places such as the Kennedy School, who are billed -- on the basis of some line-item in a swollen resume -- as "terrorism experts," and who everything they open their mouths reveal that they have never felt the responsibility, the duty, to learn about Islam, and to find out what it is that makes this belief-system so very different from the others with which, as "religions," it is so carelessly connected, so thoughtlessly lumped.

There are others at the Kennedy School who have hardly distinguished themselves, including one or two quite good at wearing their Compassion (International Division) on their sleeves, so much so that while the actual effects of their work were as limited as the Man-of-Ready-Sentiment Nicholas Kristof's on Darfur, but the effect on their own careers perfectly wonderful.

And Jessica Stern, prating away, has latched onto a good thing, and a title on the door -- "terrorism expert" -- the coincidence of which with any real expertise on the matter of Islam and the natural, almost inevitable connection of Islam to terrorism as one, if not the most effective, instruments of Jihad, turns out to be purely....coincidental.

Those who have managed to ease or climb their way into certain positions, can dine off for the rest of their lives on a few haunting phrases designed to, and too often evoking, salaam-salaams: The Kennedy School....Harvard. But there is no there there.

I went to the website of the East-West Institute in New York City at http://www.ewi.info/
and checked out the agenda for the symposium at which this Jessica Stern was speaking.

Apparently it's about combating "religious extremism," and it assigns equal weight to the radical right-wing in the U.S. as to the global jihad.

Which is, of course, ridiculous on its face. Because, just for starters, the Islamic jihad is global. The anti-abortion movement is local.

Not to mention that jihad has been around a lot longer than Roe v. Wade has.

This sort of nonsense goes over very well in New York City, where liberal Jews and liberal feminists really do think that conservative Christians are more dangerous than radical Islamists. Jessica Stern was speaking in Rosie O'Donnell's turf, after all.

If Robert Spencer's coming book makes its case as effectively as his recent bio of Muhammad made its case, I'll be surprised. I'm sure I'll agree with the case the coming book is going to make, but I think its argument will be harder to convince some people of, because the prejudices will come even thicker and faster than usual, once Christianity comes into the picture. That's part of why I thought it might be better to compare Islam to all the other main religions (though what a task that would be!) rather than just to Christianity. For one thing, the prejudiced will say that because Robert is a Christian, his arguments on behalf of Christianity are faith-based or to be ignored for other reasons. That could undermine the reception, to some significant extent, of all of Robert's other work, in which his own religious tradition is barely if at all discussed.

As far as I aware Billy Graham, Cardinal Cormack Murphy O'Connor and the Pope have not publicly called for the extermination of abortionists or Protestants. Maybe Ms Stern knows of instances where such exhortations have been made?

One more thing: the 'American religious right' may be, to a man, truly awful bastards but they are not beheading schoolchildren in Indonesia, blowing up synagogues and mosques, nor have they bombed Madrid, London, Haifa, Istanbul, Bali, Algiers or Moscow. They are not kidnapping Muslims, Jews or Hindus in Rednecksville and beheading them, before posting the video on the internet.

There is simply no comparison at any level: Islam's 'leaders' are not simply complicit in the barbaric actions of their 'faithful' - they are leading them. But it is the sheer scale and reach of Islamic violence that renders any moral equivlance null and void.

The muslims have indeed defined innocents - and it doesn't cover infidels at all these days. Even Mohammed told them that children, before their hair grows, old people, and women, are innocent and ok to be taken as booty, or slaves.

Nowadays not even a child infidel is an innocent. Only muslims are innocents according to them. I do believe that groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas have told us this and we do not listen to them and instead go our merry way in thinking all is nice in the world. Hezbollah is the group that started the 'suicide bombers' too. Of course, they don't call them that and instead call them martyrs. But they let us, once again, believe that they don't believe in 'suicide bombers' while knowing they are indeed martyrs. It is all word games to them. That is why they have no problem blowing up pizza parlors, or buses, or anything that infidels might accumulate in and around.

What the muslims have not done is tell us that - instead they let us assume that they include infidels when they speak of innocents.

That thought occurred to me, also. But on the other hand, perhaps the largest barrier we face in the West to defending our civilization is a resident army of well-meaning, but uninformed Christians who reflexively project their Christian values, such as separation of church and state, turn the other cheek, love thy neighbor, and the Golden Rule, falsely onto Islam. They apparently think the Koran is like the Bible, that Mohammed was like Jesus, and that a mosque is just a church, among other things.

Also, since most folks in the United States and many other Western countries are either Christian or, though incidental societal contact, well familiar with basic Christian narratives, they have a common frame of reference from which to compare and contrast Islamic doctrines. That common frame of reference, I think, is part of what makes Robert's earlier book "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" so effective and popular.

So this new book makes a lot of sense to me, and I hope it is hugely successful. And I hope there is perhaps a Buddhist scholar out there, and a Hindu, and others from other religions who will take Robert's lead and produce companion works to help clear the fog of Islamic taqiyya.

A Proposed Constitutional Amendment
Background and justification to Amendment 28

Whereas Religion is defined as an institution dedicated to improving social conscience and promoting individual and societal spiritual growth in a way that is harmless to others not participating in or practicing the same;

Whereas the United States of America was founded on the ideals of individual rights, including the individual right to practice one’s religion of choice, or no religion, and that there would be no compulsion of religion, nor state sanctioned religion, nor a “religious test” for participation in the body politic;

Whereas Islam includes a complete political and social structure, encompassed by its religious law, Sharia, that supersedes any civil law and that Islam mandates that no secular or democratic institutions are to be superior to Islamic law;

Whereas Islam preaches that it and it alone is the true religion and that Islam will dominate the world and supplant all other religions and democratic institutions;

Whereas Saudi Arabia, the spiritual home of Islam does not permit the practice of any other religion on its soil and even “moderate” Muslims states such as Turkey and Malaysia actively suppress other religions;

The preaching or advocating of Islamic ideals of world domination, destruction of America and democratic institutions, jihad against Judaism, Christianity and other religions, and advocating the implementation of Sharia law shall in all cases be punishable by fines, imprisonment, deportation, and death as prescribed by Congress. Violent expressions of these and other Muslim goals, or the material support of those both in the United States and around the world who seek to advance these Islamic goals shall be punishable by death.

Muslims will be denied the opportunity to immigrate to the United States.

Article IV

Nothing in this amendment shall be construed as authorizing the discrimination against, of violence upon, nor repudiation of the individual rights of those Americans professing to be Muslim. The individual right of conscience is sacrosanct and the practice of Islam within the privacy of home and self is strictly protected to the extent that such individuals do not violate the prohibitions described in Article III.

Success at Harvard is defined by how deep in the sand one can bury one's head. The manifestation of violence worldwide is coming at the hands of the Islamists. The more fundamental the Islamist the more proned to beastly, inhuman acts. The Joe bloke that dropped out of school in 6th grade can see this. How many bands of Catholics, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists etc. do we see roaming the Earth and killing for their God. If Stern wants to argue that the Islamists are acting out of the same insanity as the Catholic nut who wants to blow up an abortion clinic, then I will agree with her. But the examples are thousands for the Islamists and miniscule for all other belief systems.

As I stated before: Do not send your kid to Harvard. You are condemning his/her thought system to death. Your sons and daughters will one day figure the harm you have caused them and will creep upon you like Jim Morrison in "The End" seeking to kill you.

There is a real problem with the Ivy League and other ‘finishing’ schools. The combination of admissions being based on just about everything but academic ability, and an unwillingness to be judgmental, has led to a breakdown in standards. Once you’re in, you’re in. The failure rate is just about zero. And you will be probably be among the 80% who graduate with honors.

Forty years ago these were great schools. They have fallen victim to unrealistic ideals and are shells of what they used to be.

Somebody is going to make a lot of money by establishing a private school that bases admissions, grades, and faculty hiring on nothing other than ability and hard work. By failing to do their job, finishing schools have left an educational vacuum that needs to be filled. They have hurt our Country.

In my life experience, Ivy League grads don’t seem do too well outside of large institutions. One guy from Harvard I knew failed out of a standardized program before we got through the ‘math for dummies’ section. He was swearing and calling the program names as he had to empty his desk. He stomped out in a huff. It was really kind of funny. There is something called reality beyond those ivory towers.

I posted a comment on you tube the other day in rebuttal of a muslims post that basicly the "extremist" muslims are being tossed into the same category as "NORMAL" muslims.

My simple comment was to the affect that the silence of the "NORMAL" muslims says a lot and that muslims can't do anything other than blame others for thier failures.

It took FOUR minutes for me to be called a "bigot"
to which my next reply was "figures.Record breaking time for the slurs."

some woman anchor saying on MSBNC or whatever comparing 9/11 to Christians killing abortion doctors. Of course, these killers tend to be white racists, Nazi- or Nietzsche-inspired, etc., and don't even claim to be killing in the name of Christianity per se. So evidently the media has long been making this moral equivalence, yet only on and after 9/11 did it finally appear to be an absurd comparison, even though it was absurd all along.

A perceived shortcoming in Catholic priests' not denouncing abortion doctor killings and rabbis' not denouncing violent settlers movements (both allegations refuted by Bill Donohue) is somehow equated to the almost universal silence of Muslims clerics to the copious atrocities committed on a daily basis in the name of Islam.

This is because in the eyes of the Left we are all imperfect, and there is no good or bad. How dare you pass judgement on Islam? ... ALLAH IS NOT AN IRRATIONAL BEING. IF ALLAH IS IRRATIONAL THEN ALLAH IS NOT PERFECT AND THEREFORE SINCE ALLAH CANNOT BE IMPERFECT AN IRRATIONAL ALLAH IS NOT GOD

The above lays the intellectual framework for an Islamic Reformation.

All teachings in the Koran and all Islamic texts (written or verbal) that are not PERFECT are not the teachings of ALLAH - A PERFECT GOD - A GOD OF REASON but the teachings of man. This means that all teachings recorded in the Koran and all other Islamic texts, revelations, writings, sayings, fatwas of murder, killing, death and destruction, violence, hate, suicide bombers, violent jihad, terrorism, torture, maiming, wife beating, inferiority of woman, women as instruments of sexual pleasure in paradise, honor killings, stoning, cutting off limbs, child sex, bigotry, intolerance, slavery, inequality of infidels, inequality of any human being, that infidels can be murdered as a holy duty, that Muslims who renounce Islam can be killed, that Muslims (or anyone) who challenge the teachings of Islam can be murdered, etc are irrational AND NOT THE PERFECT TEACHINGS OF ALLAH – A PERFECT GOD - A GOD OF REASON – A GOD OF ALL LOVE AND PEACE.

Osma bin laden and all other terrorists, Imams, Fundamentalists who quote these phrases from the Koran are blaspheming against Allah.

By teaching young Muslims that ALLAH IS A PERFECT GOD - A GOD OF REASON - that all the teachings of ALLAH - MUST BE PERFECT we will occupy the moral and intellectual unassailable high ground. All the above mentioned teachings of Jihad, killing of infidels, terrorism etc are sins against ALLAH - A GOD OF LOVE AND PEACE. No ALLAH who is ALLAH would ever preach that killing and murdering of any human being in his name will be rewarded by accession to paradise. You cannot climb to heaven on the corpses of the murdered. No ALLAH who is ALLAH would ever create a Paradise full of big breasted sexual nymphs. All such teachings are the commands of evil men and false prophets. If ALLAH commanded that infidels (or any other human being) be killed then he would be irrational and evil and no longer PERFECT - no longer GOD.

This is the only way to rescue Islam from these brutal killers

The Reformation of Islam is an issue of conscience. Islam as it is presently constituted is an issue of conscience and its Reform is definitely the concern of all peace loving, democratic believing peoples everywhere. Violence in Islam is a direct threat to all mankind. It is an issue of National Security not only for the West but also for Muslim countries.

Least we all forget - it is mostly Muslims who are suffering and being killed and blown up in horrific numbers. Since 911 - over 150,000 Muslims have been murdered by their fellow Muslims in the worst ways imaginable.

Murder, suicide bombings, violence, etc are evil. When these evil acts are committed in the name of and to the greater glory of ALLAH – this is the greatest evil that anyone can commit. Again - to kill and murder so you can ascend to a Paradise of Big Breasted Nymphs to rape and molest for all eternity – this is truly evil incarnate.

Any Muslim who supports suicide bombers, who commits acts of violence, acts of terrorism, acts of violent jihad in the name of ALLAH are not Muslims - they’re just MURDERERS. All teachings in the Koran that are not of ALLAH - A PERFECT GOD OF REASON - blaspheme ALLAH and are evil. They must be renounced and denounced totally and completely WITHOUT EQUIVOCATION. These teachings must be removed from the Koran and a NEW MODERN KORAN published. The publication of a MODERN KORAN will be an instant worldwide best seller.
WHY THESE TEACHINGS OF VIOLENCE AND SUBROGATION OF WOMEN MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE KORAN?

By leaving these violent and abhorrent teachings in the Koran, we are in effect saying that these teachings are NORMAL. We are basically acquiescing to evil. We can no longer allow Peace Loving Muslims to declare Islam as a religion of Peace and Love and tolerance etc while leaving in the Koran and Islamic texts -teachings of terror, death and destruction, subrogation of women, intolerance, hate etc. We can no longer allow these Muslims to live in a fantasy world of an ALLAH of all Goodness while the Koran contains teachings of a hateful, murderous ALLAH – the ANTI ALLAH. By demanding that Peace Loving Muslims prove that they are Truly Peace Loving – by renouncing, denouncing and removing these evil teachings from the Koran –will be a TRUE MOMENT OF CATHARSIS FOR ISLAM.

The Koran is accepted by all Muslims as the word of God – not subject to change- not even by one word. By forcing Muslims to confront these evil passages they will be forced to answer the following question:

Is Muhammad A False Prophet Or Is ALLAH A False Prophet?

If Muhammad taught his followers that the above teachings were the WORDS of ALLAH then he is a false prophet since as a PERFECT GOD - ALLAH never would have given such revelations to Muhammad. If however, ALLAH issued any of these teachings to Muhammad then he is no longer PERFECT and therefore no longer GOD. Indeed the false PROPHET would be ALLAH. An evil false PROPHET.

Since ALLAH – the creator of the universe is PERFECT and all teachings of ALLAH must be PERFECT - the Koran is not the word of ALLAH but the word of Muhammad – the false prophet. Muhammad was the Anti Allah and the Anti Allah was Muhammad. They are one and the same.

Once these evil teachings of the ANTI ALLAH are removed from the Koran and all other Islamic texts - Islam will be a TRUE Religion of Peace. Issues such as environmentalism, modern family life, poverty in the third world etc – modern issues that did not exist 1400 years ago – should be added to this New Modern Koran. By reforming Islam - a truly great New Koran can be created that all Peace Loving True Muslims can take pride in. Again - the printing of a new Koran will be a truly historic day for mankind. And it will be a worldwide best seller.

A shame that a heacy price has to be paid in US troops' lives, limbs, and wounds as well as billions of dollars to shore up what will always remain an Islamic cesspool.

Yes, a Constitutional amendment is needed to declare that, within the territorial boundaries of the United States, Islam is not considered a religion, but rather a fascist political movement (carrying the trappings of religion as a Trojan Horse to insert itself into peaceful societies) in perpetual war against our fundamental liberties.

Without such an amendment, our government will be paralyzed at every level, as it is today, because of endless legal challenges, paid for by petro-dollars, and aided by a fifth column of Islamic sympathizers driven by a common goal--the undermining and eventual destruction of our Republic.

Such an amendment should also ban Muslims from holding any public office, especially positions within the military and other security services. By Islamic dogma, such persons are required to be nothing more than subversive moles in thrall to the collective umma. They are required to be active agents of an expanding fascist Islamic world empire for the "god" Allah.

Two things have to happen: Islam must be quarantined, and their ideology must be confronted directly. We must tell them every day--and never let them forget--why they are being quarantined: They are following the self-serving doctrines set down by a bloodthirsty pirate, a false prophet who made war on humanity to serve his own lust for power, sex, and vengeance. We do not and cannot respect such a belief system, nor can we tolerate its practice within our political and cultural institutions.

Sounds like you have a good start. It is impossible to eradicate a deadly philosphy such as islam but maybe you can help create an alternative for those who have a glimmer of decency and conscience left in them. Write a book, I'll buy it.
