"Go to hell Britain! Go to hell Rushdie!" in modern, moderate Malaysia. It looks as if it is going to be quite a party all over the Islamic world on Friday.

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Anger mounted in the Muslim world Wednesday over Britain's knighthood for novelist Salman Rushdie, with protests spreading to Malaysia for the first time and fresh demonstrations in Pakistan.The rallies came a day after both Iran -- whose late supreme leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini sentenced the "Satanic Verses" author to death in 1989 -- and Pakistan summoned Britain's ambassadors to protest.
In Kuala Lumpur about 20 members of Malaysia's main Islamic opposition, the Pan-Malaysia Islamic party, shouted "Go to hell Britain! Go to hell Rushdie!" outside the British High Commission.
They handed a one-page memorandum to the British envoy during the rare half-hour demonstration, which was watched by police with riot shields and helmets. The police contingent was about as large as the protest.
"In the name of peace and mutual respect, we demand that the award be withdrawn, and the British government distance itself from a provocateur like Salman Rushdie," party president Abdul Hadi Awang said in a statement.
In Pakistan hundreds of people protested in the central city of Multan, where an effigy of Rushdie and a British flag were burned for the third day running. Effigies of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II were burned earlier this week.
Traders, religious students and members of a religious party held separate demonstrations.
"Britain has tried to ignite the controversy of the cursed author Rushdie after more than a decade," said Akhtar Butt, the leader of a local traders' body. "It's a deliberate attempt to provoke Muslims."

They need to send out that new woman muslim cop to stop the violence, or to watch her muslims riot. I would like to see that and what would happen. Would they behave themselves if they saw a muslim woman UK cop?
On another thought thread, I wonder if they are actually considering withdrawing the knighthood due to these intolerant ones.

It may be a plot to enrage muslim's. What did Salomon do to warrent knighthood? Plot or not, it doe's not take very much to pzz off the whole bunch of them. Somewhere in the Quran or hadith, is buried a cool one second sound bite, 'Fury is a blessing from Allah'. Maybe that's why individual muslim's are frothing, it's a blessing. Since the whole is the total of all it's part's, 'Islam, the Ummah' is
frothing at the mouth...again. Rushdie is just another excuse for raging...and frothing...

Wow, this reminds me so much of the horrible rioting by Christians that happened upon the release of the novel and film, "The DaVinci Code," which if ever there was an insulting creation, it's right up there with the homosexual Christ in "The Last Temptation of Christ."
Man, did those Christians go crazy, burning, beating and screaming.

duh_swami, you have a good point. It seems that they give knighthood to all of their actors and singers who become well known. Knighthood is a big nothing. So, someone like Anthony Hopkins who emotes for a living can be called 'sir'. If I ever met the guy I would like it, but I wouldn't call him 'sir'. I only call people 'maam', or 'sir' if they wait on me. The military cured me of giving morons that title.
Some of the singers they have given knighthood to are no more than druggies and alcoholics that know how to play drums and guitars. gee, it makes that title even more lamo.

arjun.sevak, one of your articles says that they have police guarding Rushdie day and night. I certainly hope they don't put that UK muslim woman cop on that duty. Maybe all cops might not be considered equally trustworthy.

Isn't it funny now we have to pass it by muslims to see if we can do things like give someone an honor, say certain words in a speech, or do certain things. Are we showing the muslims our willingness to be dhimmi even before we have an all our assault on our homelands? I guess we pay the jizya so why not start with muslim censorship. We wouldn't want to upset our 'masters', would we?

Please, you really should cut the poor muslims some slack, they seem so insecure and they are so easily upset. Their societies have acheived so little, their culture is dying and their most notable historical acheivement is mass-murder. In the back of their minds they all know this and it pains them. The only symbol of power and prestige they have to hang onto is the memory of their all-conquering insane war-lord prophet, so lets give them that much. Be sensitive please.
And ban muslim immigration. Thanks.

For those people among our fellow posters or in the gen population who assert that "all religions are the same" and "Christianity poses same threat" I would put the question: When Sir Elton was nominated, does anyone remember St. Peter's Square hosting effigy burnings? Did Liberty Baptist Bible College n/k/a Liberty University have students rioting and shouting "Death to Elton" "Death to the British"??

Ahmed know's what all good liar's know.
1. 'The most believable liar prevails.
2. 'The best liar's tell the truth, except for the most important part's.
3. A lie told often enough become's the truth.
The son's and daughter's of Allah, are good at lying. They have taken taqiyya from a craft to an art form. BS artist's, every one of them. Heavenly deceit, as the Rev Moon call's it. Prefabricating for Allah is A#1, OK with Allah, in fact he encourages it. Without repeated lie's, Allah's defensive shield would go down, and he would be vulnerable to attack. 'Shield's up Scotty'...Sorry Captain the Klingon's have disabled them'.
In the same way, Islam's lie's have to be dismantled by infidel's who know enough about Islam to do it. Most of the poster's here can do it, certainly RS and Hugh.
There are no moderate muslim's. A, so called, moderate muslim is one who become's an artist with 'shucking' as his canvas, and 'jiving' his brush.
Submitting to Allah, mean's, among other thing's, a stict adherance to the insruction's given by Allah. Those liar's like Ahmed are slow jihadist's doing a very slow jihad. They are following the istruction's Allah layed down when he had Mohammad utter, 'war is deceit'. Winning an intellectual war is more important than winning a phsical war. Breaking Allah's lie's to smithereen's, crush's Allah more than dying jihadi's. Allah's lie's are three hundred and something. The same number as stone idol's in the Ka'aba when Mohammad broke up all but one and called it Allah. What mohammad acually did, was to destroy three hundred plus lie's, and replace them with three hundred different lie's, all rolled up into one god.
Allah cant be the one God if its beginning's
were based on fabrication's. So Allah is a liar.
A true submitter has to ignore these lie's or pretend he doe's not know about them. Some more lie's...oh what a tangled web we weave when...

As 'backwards' and 'intolerant' as we are as a religious group...I honestly can't remember any members of our Baptist church burning anything recently (other than accidentally overcooking some hamburgers or porkshops once in a while). Maybe we should crawl out from under our rock and experience the joy of peace and mutual respect like some of these other folks?
We have two universities locally, and plenty of mohammed's followers live here in town. I wonder if they'll be partying locally on Friday, too??

Most of these mad (in both senses of the word) Islamists, of couse, will have never read any of Salman Rushdie's works (literature has never been a strong point of Islamic "culture", notwithstanding "Ali Baba and the forty thieves"). It was a similar thing with tbe Danish cartoons: many protested without actually ever seeing them. Now we have found their Achilles' heel, we should taunt them mercilessly with literature and cartoons highlighting their foibles. They use murder and terror, we use cartoons and books. And isn't the pen mightier than the sword?
