Did anyone think otherwise? This from the Fars News Agency:
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- The death sentence fatwa issued against Salman Rushdie by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, 18 years ago is still valid and will remain so, a leading cleric said on Friday following Britain's knighting of the controversial author."In Islamic Iran, the revolutionary fatwa issued by Imam Khomeini remains valid and cannot be modified," Hojatoleslam Ahmad Khatami said during his Friday prayers sermon in Tehran.
"The old and decrepit government of Great Britain should know that the era of their empire is over and today they are a valet in the service of the United States," Khatami added.

I haven't heard any comments by the police (nor would they comment, probably) but I think that as long as he is in the UK, Rushdie will have undercover protection for the rest of his life. Costly to the taxpayer - but the price for freedom.

I never knew why people thought the Fatwa was removed/voided in the first place. Last I read a couple of years ago was that because Khomeni was dead nothing could be done about it.
All this renewed publicity that Rushdie is getting must be helping sales of "The Satanic Verses". I recently watched a video clip on YT where Rushdie was reading from it, and it seemed like a better read than I had been led to believe. So I probably will when I get around to it.

No sell-by date? No scadenza? Still valid until kingdom come and the cows or surat al-baraqa come home? What poor sports those ayatolahs have turned out to be.

"still valid", eh?
I agree...just as it's still valid of irans official open declaration of war upon the United States.
It's only a matter of time before that is reciprocated on...

One can't help but wonder if or when Rushdie is finnaly killed by a lover of peace (A Zombie)what exactly would the world leaders and all "the groups" do to those who have called for his murder to be carried out?
Do you think they would do anything to these maggots?Or would it be just the ones who actually kill him.
One has to wonder since these maggots are allowed to preach death threats openly and freely as it is.
Why can't some person with a sack and a spine hold those in the free world (the leaders and "groups")who keep allowing this crap to continue resposible for the murders of innocent people?,truly innocent people.
How about Britain growing a sack and a spine and declaring thier own fatwa (the gov. )on all those who have called for rushdies death. No matter who kills him.
The retaliation to any attempt on his life should be made so sever as to make the horde protect his life themselves.
Then lets talk about the threats to the rest of mankind. It's time for the horde of zombies to be dealt with in the only manner they can understand.

I think each of the inmates at Guantanomo Bay should be given a copy of "The Satanic Verses" personally signed by Sir Salman Rushdie himself. I believe the "The Satanic Verses" has also been translated into Arabic.
