"There have been warnings that the peacekeepers could come under terror attacks, particularly from al-Qaida and its sympathizers. Media reports earlier this month said interrogations by Lebanese authorities with captured militants revealed plots to attack the force."
"Lebanon bomb kills 4 U.N. peacekeepers," by Sam F. Ghattas for the Associated Press:
BEIRUT, Lebanon - A bomb apparently targeting U.N. peacekeepers exploded by the side of a road in southern Lebanon on Sunday, killing four Spanish troops and injuring at least four, a senior Lebanese security official said.
The senior official in Beirut said a mine may have caused the explosion, but another security official based in southern Lebanon said a bomb detonated at the side of a road about four miles north of the Israeli border town of Metulla. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
The U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, confirmed the explosion and said there were casualties but gave no details.
In Madrid, the Spanish Defense Ministry confirmed at least two Spanish peacekeepers were killed and five injured.
Sunday's deadly explosion was the first time that UNIFIL has come under attack since it was reinforced last summer after the war between Hezbollah guerrillas and Israeli forces in Lebanon. The 13,000-member U.N. force from 30 countries along with 15,000 Lebanese troops patrols a zone along Lebanese-Israeli border.
In a statement on its television station Al-Manar, Hezbollah denounced the attack, calling it a "suspicious act." The militant [group] has had good relations with UNIFIL since the troops were first deployed in Lebanon in 1978.
There have been warnings that the peacekeepers could come under terror attacks, particularly from al-Qaida and its sympathizers. Media reports earlier this month said interrogations by Lebanese authorities with captured militants revealed plots to attack the force.

Greetings:
Do I hear the pitter-patter of tiny Spanish feet heading for another exit?

What doe's he mean, 'suspicious act'? Soon they will blame Israel or Saloman Rushdie.

You know what? It's time every westerner pulled out of all Arabic and Islamic countries, come home, marshall all available forces at home, clamp down on every border (admitting no one else in), and let these barbaric people have their lands and let them sit and steep in their own barbarism.

1982: Israel fights terrorists in Lebanon. Immediatelly, a rabid global hate campaign erupts, the Soviet Union, the US, Europe and the Islamic world united against the tiny nation. The US & Europe pressure Israel to leave Beirut and send in "peacekeepers" who immediatelly let terrorists back in. The terrorists "thank" them with 2 simultaneous bombings that kill 241 US Marines and 58 French soldiers.
2006: Israel fights terrorists in Lebanon.
Immediatelly, a rabid global hate campaign erupts against the tiny nation. Bush and Rice panic and join the French in the UN, ending Israel's war effort. 15,000 "peacekeepers" are deployed, letting terrorists rearm and return. Now, terrorists are having fun with "peacekeepers", blowing them up.
The big Western cowards don't know how to fight the jihadists, and won't let Israel do the job either.

Ruslan: That was exceedingly shameful on both counts. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, some people just seem to have a knack for that.

It doesn't happen often, but I agree with Hezbollah: They don't like the UN, and I don't like the UN, whaddya know. We have the usages of water and oxygen in common as well...
Although I would never condone the murder of UN soldiers (does that disqualify this as 'terrorism,' their being nominally military in character and mission?) I certainly would like to see the UN shutter its doors and stop with all they're doing.
Maybe they actually do a few good things in the world, but criminy... on balance, I'd have to say they're highly unbalanced. Their 5 'good' programs are quite outweighed by the 99,995 bad ones. Down with the UN! UN out of NY!

Hahahaha, silly me. I went back and read the article. You know, the AP will never describe ANYTHING as terrorism... except maybe things done by Bush or Israel... Nope, these guys are (naturally) called 'militants.'
Red-letter day. I agree with both Hezbollah and the AP.

Aussie Muslims unite against Israel:
http://sheikyermami.com/2007/06/24/aussie-muslims-unite-against-israel/
The new mufti of Australia, Sunni spiritual leader Fehmi Naji el-Imam, last year called Hezbollah militants “freedom fighters” during an anti-war rally in Melbourne.
Sunni Muslim spiritual leaders contacted by The Australian, including several who formerly served on John Howard’s Islamic advisory council, yesterday refused to put their support for Hezbollah on the record for fear of upsetting the federal Government and jeopardising future community funding.
That's right. Keep the jiziyah coming, you filthy kufars.....
