POLICE who arrested boxing champion Ahmed Elomar with two other Australian friends in Lebanon say that the three are not known to be senior wanted extremists.
"These are not names that I've heard of," said Lt Colonel Bassem al Ayoubi, the chief of police in Tripoli, when asked about the Elomar group. "I don't think they are major people."
But two other Australians arrested in connection to the bloody shoot-out in Tripoli on June 24 are still being interrogated by military intelligence over suspected links to the international jihadi movement.
Nine people died in a ten-hour gunbattle after former Australian taxi driver Omar Hadba broke under interrogation and led police to a militant cell hiding in an apartment belonging to Basam al Sayed, another dual Australian-Lebanese citizen.
Among the dead were five Sunni militants (three Saudis, a Chechen and a Lebanese), a Lebanese soldier, and an off-duty policeman and his two daughters, aged eight and four.
Police said that hours before the fatal raid they had recovered a substantial arsenal of weapons and other military equipment from Hadba's property.
The arrests of five Australian citizens in the north Lebanon city come at a time of high tension between the Lebanese government and the strongly Sunni Muslim local population
"We are arresting a lot of people at this time, some thanks to investigations and others due to suspicions," said Lt Colonel Ayoubi. "We interrogate them and if there's nothing we let them go."
Police have yet to make any specific allegations against the group of three Australian men who were arrested on June 20, including boxing champion Ahmed Elomar.

Islam and its hoped for caliphate are gaining ground..and steam. Who woulda thunk that the good old "shrimp on the barbie" nation would be the new breeding ground for Islamic jihad? We must always watch our backs, and each others, too if we are to put up the good fight. Maybe the Abo's down there can teach the white man their secret killing techniques, you know....maybe something to do with distilling wild pig blood....

I just wish that someone would have the courage to just shoot these swine instead of giving them the usual knuckle rap and back to Australia in 12 months.
You CANNOT treat a jihadist like a criminal as there is absolutely NO chance of rehabilitation and they will resume their jihad activities immediately upon release.
So, to protect society from them , you either gaol them for life or else you dispose of them.
Despite the human rights issue here I am thinking more and more that a mandatory death penalty should be used on all proven jihadists everywhere. They love death so let us give it to them. We can always revert to mormality once this is over but if Sharia law comes they wont be so squeamish in the way they will treat us.
Anyone who has an ideological contempt for the lives of innocents might then think twice about it 72 houris or not.

it seens these terrorists can come into any country without impunity, the border control gives me time to when l bring a dog into the country, heck they are microchiped, shots for rabies current. it should be the other way around for islamist!

"Innocent" people who've been released after being picked up in Afghanistan have been returned home only to be captured again on the battlefield.
There is still a chance the Supreme Court will decide that the US must close Gitmo and release the captives or transfer them to civilian courts in the US. If that's our choice we might as well send them home now and bring our boys home. No reason to line them up and shoot them (the third way) because then it will be the military who will be locked up, probably at Fort Leavenworth.

Lebanon will ofcourse do the right thing by Islam and itself, by deporting these so called "Australians" to Australia, where they will become media darlings, and free to wage Jihad in the West.
The right thing for Australia to do, is to cancel their citizenship and refuse to accept them if they are sent to Australia.

Australians on paper only. Obviously their hearts and minds lie elsewhere. Yet something goes wrong over there and all of a sudden they're loyal Aussies demanding we save their butts. If they're dual citizens, let the other country take care of them, especially since they chose to go there and live there.
I wonder how many are over there getting "training" and some hands-on experience? Then return, all pumped up with the jihadi spirit, wanting to use their training here. On us.
We've really got to bring about laws that revoke citizenship for such cases.

This was caused by the Labor government allowing large numbers of Lebanese Muslims into Australia in the 70s and 80s.
Sydney is where they congregate. No thinking person there likes them. They were, in fact, the cause of the Cronulla riots. Unfortunately, Sydney is choc-full of self-loathing leftist 'intellectuals' who think the whole problem is caused by 'intolerant racist Anglos'.
Australia is blindly following the same suicidal route as the rest of The West; not as quickly, perhaps, but we're on our way. Sydney, as a city, is doomed (in my opinion), as it has the largest concentration of foreigners who hate Australia, and even the native-born population of Sydney generally despise their own culture and nation. I lived there for 5 years, and it's a city in clear cultural decline, populated largely by fools. Most of the smart, decent people left years ago; this is upheld by ABS statistics, which show that if one excluded foreign immigration, Sydney's population would have been shrinking for some time.
Recently the government allowed dual citizenships. Australia is now largely a country of convenience for various groups of foreigners who have no desire to assimilate, and no sense of national loyalty. Thank God that most of them don't realise that anything exists beyond Sydney and Melbourne.
