This is not at all suprising. It would be very easy for jihadists to carry out crude terror attacks at many different venues in the U.S.: stadiums, airports. shopping malls, business districts, etc. I hope it doesn't happen but, if it does, I hope it serves as a wake-up call to a complacent American public that the threat of Islam is very real and very deadly.

I would like to add one hopeful point, though, and that is that there are millions of gun-owners in this country. This is not the case in Britain where gun-ownership is virtually banned. Let's hope that if the jihadists start attacking Americans on our own soil, as they did on 9/11, that they run into some armed resistance. I'm sorry for being so militant but this is a war.

It will be nuclear as whatever they are planning it will have to outdo all previous attacks.

The fact that AQ has done little in the USA recently is not due to US security but due to the extensive planning and co-ordination of whatever it is that they are intending.

I doubt that airliners will be that easy anymore so it may be fuel or gas tankers but their damage is limited so a nice radiation effect seems on the cards.
If they do dare this it will mean "no holds barred". internment for all muslims and islam outlawed. But the damage will have been done by then and the casualties will be 6-7 figure. If so does the admin have the courage to do what is then necessary?
If nuclear weapons are exploded by AQ I think that a limited nuclear strike in several hostile Muslim countries would be totally justified but I bet the admin is too gutless to do anything this extreme. So the Kaffirs just bleed and burn again.

I'd like to reply to several posters on this issue.

lakeside I agree that we'll see the Sudden Jihadi Syndrome crop up more and more in crude attacks all across the nation. I'll be as ready as a 42-year-old civilian without a concealed carry permit can be.

witness - I think the threat of the gov't preventing civilians from buying guns is overblown. Handguns, maybe, but long guns I doubt if anything other than the dreaded 'assault rifle' would ever be approached for a sales ban. In that case, you could still buy other guns effective out to at least 100 yards. Millions of these types of weapons are in homes on every street in this nation. I have a Winchester 94 carbine and enough ammo to reload it to capacity 23 times. I'm not the only one. Besides I know of two people in my immediate work group that have handguns, SKS 'assault rifles' and an assortment of sporting long guns. Of my friends I took to the Lake for a boys weekend, all have rifles and shotguns and 1/2 of us have handguns. We already have enough in-house to take care of it domesticly, should it come to that.
It will be over long before it has a chance to resemble Beriut, I guarantee you that. I went ahead and bought a handgun about a year ago because I wanted to Be Prepared and before the government had a chance to make it more difficult. I do take lessons from New Orleans-Post Katrina and I see that confiscation could be an issue. But you keep the stuff out of sight until needed. The best way to survive a gunfight is to avoid it after all.

misIslamist - I'm most concerned that you're correct in thinking the next big event will be radiological in nature - either a radiological dispersion bomb ( 'dirty' bomb ) or a set of small fission weapons across the nation. I'm taking that stuff with me when I go up East tomorrow. I'm also taking my shotgun. It's prime time for the Sudden Jihadis now and I will be as prepared as I can for any serious circumstance. I can fend off threats up to 100 yards away and if a whole city is damaged, I'll have a kit and KI blockers.

I'm not irrational or a member of some right wing militia in Arkansas. I'm a former Boy Scout who believes in being prepared. The risk from Sudden Jihadis may be more remote than a car accident, but I believe in taking precautions against both and any other thing that could hurt my family. The threat from Jihadis is real and closer than most civilians think.

Also considering what our own gumint did to some of the law-abiding citizens of New Orleans (while simultaneously allowing the scum of the Earth to run rampant,) I would strongly recommend stocking up on MORE AMMO. Lots more!

I should note that we have always had EMERGENCY SUPPLIES, but after Hurricane Katrina we took a thorough inventory and upgraded. We have water purification devices and stored food, etc. We could probably go for at least a month without visiting the supermarket. Something to think about!
Ha,ha *LOL*! Take a look at the NUKEALERT at the nitro-pak website. My brother bought one of these and they are certainly handy little gadgets. You can test them by putting them in the freezer for a few minutes. When you take them out, the sudden temperature change will activate the detector. They make a clicking sound every few seconds. If the clicking sound becomes continuous, bend over and kiss your A@@ goodbye!

They already have. From snipers in DC to college students running down contemporaries in one of the Carolinas to people shooting up a shopping mall in Utah to a "deranged young man" imitating the 9/11 hijackers and flying his private plane into a skyscraper in the Pacific Northwest.

Each is dismissed as the work of a lone actor who has nothing to do with organized terrorism. There are people running their own jihad compound on private property but until they kill someone they're just having fun.

Is al Qaeda ready to settle for Florida dinner clubs after starring on Broadway? Our leaders say no and so they don't sweat the small stuff.

One_of_the_last_few_Patriots_left thank you for the kind words of support. I think you're right about a water purification system, that's one thing I need to get. If we have any event, natural or jihadi in nature, clean water will become the single most important resource a family needs. We have some bottled water, but not a way to ensure a supply of potable water over more than a week. I keep forgetting about this, thanks for reminding me.

When I go to the store for other things I pick up a couple of boxes of 30-30 or 12 gauge 00 buck. I'm slowly building up amounts but I need to use some to practice occassionally as well.

.38 and .357 I have a couple hundred rounds but I burn them up in practice sessions too. We need practice. If you have to think about the mechanics you're in deep shi'ite ... I'm trying to reduce it to a set of muscle memory movements, but I'm not in some huge hurry. I've got a life and am a victim of other agendas, schedules and social calendars at the moment. I'm surrounded by women and girls and they come first most of the time. However some things are not negotiable, including practice time and purchases of ammo and my wife is in agreement. She put together a kit for us based on www.ready.gov and we're a good team on these types of matters. Marrying her was the single most important decision I made in my whole life - and I got it right the first time (for once).

They can't disarm everyone...especially when there are more guns than people in the US. (although some on the left would try if they could get away with it...but they won't).

Back to topic...as I've been speaking of this for some time, I still hope more than anyone that I am wrong on this one...period of maximum risk started yesterday, and it's advisable to maintain a very high level of vigilance until at least 9/14.
