More from al-Zawahri. "New al-Qaeda tape threatens UK," from CNN:
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Al-Qaeda's No. 2 issued a new tape on Tuesday threatening to retaliate against Britain for having honored novelist Salman Rushdie, a U.S.-based intelligence monitoring group said.
Ayman al-Zawahri's 20 minute and 43 seconds speech was entitled "Malicious Britain and its Indian Slaves." It was produced by as-Sahab, the multimedia wing of al-Qaeda, to be distributed to extremist web sites, said the US-based SITE intelligence group, which monitors al-Qaeda messages.
The authenticity of the tape, also reported by another US-based intelligence monitoring group, could not be independently confirmed.
Osama bin Laden's deputy lashed out at Britain for having awarded a knighthood to Rushdie last month, saying it was defying the Islamic world by granting the honor to the author of "The Satanic Verses," deemed to insult Islam.
A "very precise response" is in preparation to retaliate against this offense, al-Zawahri was quoted as saying by SITE.
Addressing British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the al-Qaida deputy chief said Britain's strategy in the Middle East "has brought tragedy and defeat upon you, not only in Afghanistan and Iraq but also in the center of London." This appeared to be a reference to the deadly London transit network bombings which occurred just about two years ago.
"And if you did not understand, listen, we are ready to repeat it for you," al-Zawahri was quoted as warning the British prime minister.
[...]
The rest of al-Zawahri's new tape addressed a variety of topics frequently raised by al-Qaeda.
The terrorism chief criticized the Palestinian Hamas for compromising with Israel, called Muslims to join the jihad -- or holy war -- against the West, and hailed a bombing that killed six United Nations peacekeepers in southern Lebanon last month, SITE said.
He also railed against Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, saying Muslims should not oppose him through elections but by fighting alongside the Taliban.
It was not immediately clear whether al-Zawahri recorded his tape before or after the June 29 thwarted terror plot in Britain or since police began ongoing clashes with religious students at a radical mosque in Pakistan.

Are we better off seeing these tapes or not?
I ask because every tape that is released goes through a network of carriers/handlers before reaching al Jazeera or whomever first broadcasts it. Is there any effort made to follow it back to its source? Not that we would find Osama or his henchman at the back, but why are we making no effort to disrupt this network? If they can send these tapes then they can surely send crypted or coded messages to jihadists in the West. That they're living in a cave or in Karachi or on the moon means nothing if they can still get their message out.

So it's serving it's purpose then.

Too bad we don't have satellite surveillance and start trying to find these little freaks such as al zawahri.
I got an idea - but not a clue as to how this could be done - get some of al's DNA and through the satellite - hone in on the freak. Then lay a well, placed bomb on his rat hole. We probably would have a trail of the DNA highlighted - sort of like an old time hunter who is hunting some game by finding the animal's waste, etc. Do this via a satellite and then... boom.
Or even get the DNA of one of these freaks that give these tapes to the news organizations, and follow him back to his rat hole. (I got an imagination with no idea how to invent such things. I can think up a lot of things like this.)

Spewing threats and banging his head into the ground while he shows his ass to the moon where allah lives (at night)--perfectly predictable behavior from a muhammadan doctor or muhammadan religious scholar.

Isn't it funny how these tapes keep coming out but the messengers never finger the location of the Al Qaeda leadership. I thought all the "other" Muslims were so peace loving -- Al Jazeera, etc.

Continuing from the article he "called Muslims to join the jihad -- or holy war -- against the West,"
Well Mr. Brown, what part of this message do you not understand?
Suggestion, ignore him and maybe he'll just go away. After all, that would be the enlightened and politically correct thing to do, would it not?

Of course not; they're liberals.
Liberals don't have the capacity for hate speech; only those who disagree with liberals can be guilty of hate speech.

Sir Rushide was on the right course - the "religion of peace" is really the greatest satanic cult in all of human history - and its practitioners worship blood violence, racism, sexism, oppression of every level, totalitarianism - and above all - death
the only and greatest contribution of "religion of peace" to civilization and humankind is hell on earth

Censoring anyone for "hate speech" sets us on a slippery slope. The concept of "hate speech" is very likely to be used to shut us up in the same way it is used in Europe and Australia. We have truth and reason on our side, and should not look to muzzle the jihadists. The more they have to say, the more ammunition we have.

Yeah, I agree; but sedition, calling for treason, promoting violence in the streets or attacks on critical infrastructure, and threats against innocent civilians needs to be "punishable" speech. (Our "freedom of speech" doesn't allow us to go so far as to yell "Fire!" in a theater, or "Bomb!" on an airplane.)
Concerning Muslim propaganda, it just p!sses me off no end when these barfheads, against all evidence of history, claim there was no holocaust, or claim Israel was established on Palestinian land, or that the Crusades/Israel/Iraq invasion caused the current jihad-against-everything. Gah! May the fleas of a thousand camels crawl up al-Zawahri's nose and suffocate this miserable excuse for a human.

The Beast is Islam
The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.

I know what you mean; al Zawahri gives me the creeps also, and I can't put my finger on exactly why. Other than he is just one evil, creepy madman.
He's so pompous acting on his video tapes, personifying the "superior" racial beliefs that his brand of Muslims have, but that aspect is understandably dismissed in the light of his actions and his words. Maybe it's his braggadocious-ness combined with his evident cowardice. Theres many awful attributes attributable to this awful man, and he has brought it all on (us), himself.
In some ways, he is a Muslim mirror image of Che Guevara, Fidel Castro's right hand man in Cuba's dreadful past. For each man was/are regarded as intellectual, studious; each received Medical degrees, though neither ever practiced medicine; each man attached themselves to more ambitious men with thoughts of domination of world, in their minds.
There also is the fear at least in me, that "what if" someday, this beast gets his way.

I've been told that the bump (which can be seen on other clerics as well) is a callous caused by the repeated striking and rubbing of the forehead on the floor during Muslim prayer. To Muslims it is a sign of great piety.
Others, in particular those familiar with the book of Revelation, have occasionally posited it as a sign of something else entirely.

Ayman al-Zawahri's 20 minute and 43 seconds speech was entitled "Malicious Britain and its Indian Slaves."
People like al-Zawahri (and other supremacist pigs (Muslim and non-Muslim) with their "religious" costumes and dogmas as covers) are very clever at the shame game. However, if you look at the history of Islam (and particularly Arab history) there is no group that has more to apologize for in history in terms of genocide (India, e.g) and the destruction of "indigenous cultures", "indigenous peoples" than Muslim Arabs and the ottomans (btw, when are they getting out of Constantinople?). Arabs were deeply implicated in the slave trade of the African Negro peoples.
Islam is indeed the engine of Arab Imperialism. The "Indian slaves" are in Pakistan bowing to Mecca.

'Indian slaves'...that's a laugh.
For a better take on the relationship between India and the English-speaking peoples as it's developed, watch the movie "Bride and Prejudice" in which Jane Austen meets Bollywood. Delicious! Or "Monsoon Wedding", another Anglo-Indian artistic hybrid - just listen to the dialogue, watch the mix of names in the credits. (Note that the Indian families in both films are quite clearly not Muslim).
V S Naipaul - Hindu Indian ancestry, born in a British colony - got a Nobel Prize for a book written in English. Salman Rushdie, born in Bombay, educated in England, writing all his books in English and winning a knighthood, is another example (although he's a Muslim) of Indo-English cultural cross-pollination.
Rumer Godden the English novelist was permanently shaped by her Indian childhood. Although English by birth she is in her bones a 'Eurasian' writer.
Just look at how many Anglo-Indian people there are about the place. One of my friends rejoices in the name of Sita Matthews - her mother was born of a [non-Muslim] Indian/English mixed marriage. Another friend had a Bengali Hindu (Brahmin) father and a Presbyterian Scottish mother - large stable family, all very smart creative people.
John Bull and Mother India had a stormy, steamy relationship, it had some really bad patches, there's been exploitation and fights and screams and crockery smashing; but it's been, in the end, a remarkably fertile and creative liaison, with energy and inspiration flowing in both directions. Zawahiri, being a strict Muslim, able to think only in terms of slay-or-be-slain, dominate-or-be-dominated, master/slave, cannot even begin to imagine the possibility of a relationship like that, between countries, civilisations, or peoples. He sees Sir Salman as a slave, a puppet, a Muslim who kowtows to the kuffar - he can't imagine that Sir Salman is an independent agent who just might be writing in English because, hey, he likes doing it.
May both the UK and India be delivered from the Jihad forever. May the wounds of the past be healed, and may their long cultural love-affair be renewed, producing many more delightful offspring for the pleasure of both parties.

Ah, I see.
and I was thinking more along the lines of: "the traumatic billy-goat bite as an explanation for Hitler's subsequent derangement" (from "Explaining Hitler," by Ron Rosenbaum). As Rosenbaum argues, it's just too much of a reductio ad absurdum (although repetitive banging of heads on floors sufficient to cause self-inflicted brain damage sounds plausible.) ok, ok, i'll go with the cloning! (the case of the missing nut...solved.)

Do you think the Muslim juror described below (reported in the Times online) was listening to this new Al-Qaeda tape on her MP3 player? Or maybe she was just listening to Cat Stevens: "Another Saturday night, and I ain't got no money...".
Full story at: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article2051212.ece
A Muslim juror faces a possible prison sentence after being discovered listening to an MP3 player under her hijab headscarf during a high-profile murder trial.
In what is considered the first case of its kind, the woman was arrested for contempt of court after another member of the jury passed a note revealing the indiscretion to the judge, Roger Chapple.
The judge - who previously suspected that he had heard "tinny music" in the background, but dismissed it as his imagination - called the woman into court on her own, and said: “You are going to be discharged from this jury. You will play no further role.”
A police officer then stepped forward and escorted her from court. Outside the woman - who is in her 20s, but cannot be identified for legal reasons - was searched, the MP3 player was found and confiscated, and she was arrested. Contempt of court carries a maximum sentence of an unlimited fine and indefinite imprisonment.

The thought crossed my mind that he might be trying to distance himself from her to protect her from any untoward reactions to his knighthood.
I'm sure this latest rant from al Zawahiri is no surprise to him. Does this make Sir Salman an Islamophobe as well as an Apostate?

his wife was sleeping around.
their divorce had nothing to do with the recent trouble, in fact his wife flaunted her rushdie fame and had no real concern about getting topped by "south east asians". in other words, she was the village bike.

surely this latest comical tape came out too late? they screwed up by not releasing the tape, then they screwed up on hte bombs and the suv attack in glasgow. so they released this tape to "scare" the pansy british establishment. which they screwed up again as most brits now are flocking to the BNP in droves. i bet "moderates" hate al queda for really screwing up their plans for an islamic uk.

You know, Leon, someone really needs to do a spoof of a No. 2 tape...(go through it, line by line, point-by-sorry-point, and highlight all the endless absurdities...with possible video re-enactments playing in the background -- as in running vehicles into buildings and killing the drivers, along with the fire-fighters having to put out the flames while passers-by shout out obscenities...ah, yes, "reality check" time...or chalk it all up to the Islamic "one nuts.")

One thing is for certain: Britain's former enemies would have welcomed a crack at this current environment of coddled treasonism.

Leon says, 'she was the village bike'
You can call me shallow but at a push I'd be prepared to show off my green credentials.

"Al-Qaeda's No. 2 issued a new tape on Tuesday threatening to retaliate against Britain for having honored novelist Salman Rushdie"
Okay. Just for a moment, let's forget the bloodshed, etc. and see this for what is really is.
It's the mouthings of a bunch of spoilt pampered mama boys, who are squalling and blubbering for attention cos they aren't getting what they feel they're entitled to.
"Look at me. I've threatened people. Look at me. Everybody, look at me"
Case in point. When Zarqawi was in a Jordanian cell, a cellmate said he'd write page after page to his sweet doting Mum.
For some of the London 77 terrorists they turned to terror after the doting mumsy passed away.
Take away the nastiness, the murder, and all they are is a bunch of immature, indulged mama little darlings.
I know 5 year olds with more maturity.

Perhaps Zawahri’s comments are not a reflection of what the majority of Muslims living in Britain think or agree with (note I do not say British Muslims) but he will have them agree on at least one issue…Islam is right back up there at the top of the hit list again. His recent outburst is perfectly timed too, couldn’t have done a better job if he’d tried! Y’see it gives our Muslim friends here, from the religion of Peace, a fantastic opportunity to take to the streets and give us a good show of ‘sandal slapping’ posters of this twats portrait whilst condemning him and his ilk for defaming the good name of Islam.
Now, Muslims in Scotland were quick of the mark recently when that pair of numpties tried to bomb Glasgow airport and a protest was held in George Square as a result by Scottish flag waving Muslims. If there is no mass condemnation of this recent Zawahri outburst then I’m afraid that Mr Brown and the establishment have to consider the possible fact that
1 : Muslims are in agreement with Zawahri
2 : The British population as a whole have noticed, again, the silence.
3 : BNP membership will rise once more.
It must be a worry knowing that those who you claim to be your ‘friends’ are actually the opposite and those who you expect to vote and support you are of the opinion that you’re a plonker, albeit a dangerous one. Mind you he’s only got one eye so his peripheral vision is, like his politics, buggered.

A number here have mentioned that al-Zawahri looks creepy. This may be subliminal. Can someone put a link up to a pic of Davros?

"Certainly we want to kill al-Zawahri, yes?
And almost certainly we know where he is?
The only reason I can see that we haven't killed him is that he must have some deterrent.

....he is being protected by the Pakistani Government.....

When Nick Griffin is given knighthood by the queen that will be the end of this tyrant and the lot of inhuman refuse that follow him.
I would not be surprised if Brown revokes Rushdie's knighthood as another appeasement process. He would not know an enemy if he came up behind him and bit him on his buttocks.

"a protest was held in George Square as a result by Scottish flag waving Muslims."
According to the UP POMPEII site only about 1500 turned up and most of those were "inter-faith support groups". They claim the BBC did not show the crowd because there were so few actual muslims there.
