An earlier story noted that, according to U.S. commanders, the Green Zone was being "bombarded daily with Iranian-made shells." And now this, from Reuters:
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Militia crews firing mortars and rockets have been hitting Baghdad's heavily protected Green Zone with more accuracy in the past three months because of training from Iran, a top U.S. general said on Thursday.
"In the last three months we have seen a significant improvement in the capability of mortarmen and rocketeers to provide accurate fire into the Green Zone and other places," Lieutenant-General Raymond Odierno told a news conference.
"We think this is directly related to training conducted inside Iran," said Odierno, who is the operational commander of U.S. forces in Iraq.
The U.S. ambassador to Iraq accused Tehran of increasing support for militias when he met his Iranian counterpart for a second round of talks on Iraq's violence on Tuesday. Iran rejects the allegations.
The prize targets in the sprawling zone are the U.S. embassy and Iraqi government buildings. Many attacks come from the direction of areas that have a strong presence of Mehdi Army militiamen loyal to anti-American cleric Moqtada al Sadr.
The United Nations, in a recent report in which it complained about the mounting risks of operating in the Green Zone, said attacks were almost daily and 26 people had been killed by indirect fire between mid-February and late May.
On July 10, militants launched one of the biggest mortar and rocket barrages on the zone, killing at least three people, including a U.S. military service member, and wounding 18.

...break out the giant rome plows and clear a distance exceeding the range of the mortars and declare the newly leveled ground a no go zone...

It's pretty simple. Locate training camps in iran, and then see how accurate our cruise missles are.

Gen. Patton noted about such follies as a "Green Zones":
"When we are attacking, the enemy has to parry, while, when we are defending... he can attack us."
And, on the deeper topic:
"One cannot but ponder the question: 'what if the Arabs had been Christians?' To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for an eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity."

We have seen this before. It's similar to the road map to peace that has been built and blown up for decades.(palistinian and Israelie conflict)
Now step into Israels shoes and see how they fit.
Feel comfy?
Now lets wear them for sixty years as we continue to dole out billions and billions to the enemy.
Paying for peace? Where i come from thats called Jizya.
I don't want to pay.I want to play!
With our technology we should be able to show them how we dismantle mortar, rocket and missile firing zones.
Make some important islamic stuff disappear that way they either stand up or lay down.Either way after this many years don't you think at some point we should make a point known?
Like i keep asking "are there any men left?"
I wouldn't want to be over there either for some scared loser to kill me by taking the easy way out.COWARDS!
Now ask me to go to kill them....i am there!
For Gods sake fight back for a change.
GROW SOME!!!

Just finished watching Sheila Jackson Lee ( or a buck-toothed gorilla with dreads)--(Dhim-TX) grill Louis Freeh about a secret surveillance program that the public doesn't know about. Well, DIDN'T know about until now...
Then Tony Snow says that Congress was briefed on this secret program, and should not be "aksing"(that is the word she used)about it in open meetings.
I just hope I survive the next attack (oh there'll be one) so I can thank that the illiterate pig from Texas for the free fireworks.

Another "why is this news?"
It should be called "olds",
and we should officially hold iran into account,
which makes iran fair game, by their own hand, according to universally accepted standards.

What the heck are they waiting for, a nuke with iranian's initials on it! bomb the crap out of iran's military and nuke sites, training sites..get it over with. too bad the demoncrats are always at bush's heels about talking wit iran. send them over obama and hilary and then begin the bombing!

There is one big flaw in the US strategy in Iraq and that is - take the war to all of the enemy. Strike their entire supply chain. Right now, the alliance can not win just because the supply of people just wanting to die fighting is indefinite and supply of arms and funding is unchallenged. Iran and Saudi Arabia are not paying the price for their direct and/or indirect involvement in this war.
In this sense, the Iraq war is developing along the same dysfunctional principles as was the Vietnam war by not committing to the entire concept of war but to parts of it, even attempting to hide that there actually is a war going on.

Yes folks, it's another "No shit Sherlock" brought to you by Dubya and all those clones who really thought it'd be a great idea to give Iran it's biggest success in the last zillion years, namely a fractured Iraq.
What on earth did all those "let's invade Iraq" geniuses think the Iranians would do? Sit back and watch? Of course they're behind a lot of the insurgency. It's a no brainer, but to Dubya et al it's rocket science with a bit of brain surgery thrown in for good measure.
Clueless schmucks the lot of 'em

"What on earth did all those "let's invade Iraq" geniuses think the Iranians would do?"
...let's not give them credit for doing any thinking.....they obviously did not think, and they continue not to think....just look at all their "decisions" by the "decision maker"....
