Spencer: Muslims Silence Critics

In FrontPage this morning (news links in the original):

After a police raid Friday at Your Black Muslim Bakery in Oakland, bakery employee Devaughndre Broussard admitted to murdering Chauncey Bailey, the editor of the Oakland Post. Bailey was writing a series of investigative articles about the Bakery – and that’s why, according to police, Broussard killed him.

Your Black Muslim Bakery is an outpost of the Nation of Islam, not of any orthodox Islamic sect, but in this murder Devaughndre Broussard has followed a pattern that some orthodox Muslims have also followed. Violent reprisal has long been an occupational hazard of those who dare to question or investigate Islamic groups or criticize Islamic practices. Filmmaker Theo van Gogh was brutally murdered in November 2004 by a Muslim who took exception to his criticism of the oppression of women in Islamic societies. In 1947, the Iranian lawyer Ahmad Kasravi was murdered in court by Islamic jihadists; Kasravi was there to defend himself against charges that he had attacked Islam.

Four years later, members of the same radical Muslim group, Fadayan-e Islam, assassinated Iranian Prime Minister Haji-Ali Razmara after a group of Muslim clerics issued a fatwa calling for his death. In 1992, the Egyptian writer Faraj Foda was murdered by Muslims enraged at his “apostasy” from Islam — another offense for which traditional Islamic law prescribes the death penalty. Foda’s countryman, the Nobel Prizewinning novelist Naguib Mahfouz, was stabbed in 1994 after accusations of blasphemy. And of course, there is the Iranian regime’s notorious death fatwa against Salman Rushdie.

Chauncey Bailey, moreover, is not the first person in the United States to have been murdered by a Muslim who didn’t like what he said. That distinction may belong to Rashad Khalifa, an unorthodox interpreter of the Qur’an who was murdered in Tucson, Arizona, in January 1990 – probably by a member of the jihadist group Jamaat al-Fuqra. But Bailey’s is still a singular case. Much more common has been the practice of trying to intimidate critics into silence through legal threats.

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has had great success with this over the years, although lately the tactic appears to be faltering. CAIR was unsuccessful in bullying the Young America’s Foundation into canceling a talk by me last week: the address went on as scheduled on Thursday. In 2006, CAIR dropped a lawsuit against Andrew Whitehead of Anti-CAIR after Mr. Whitehead’s attorney asked a series of probing questions during the discovery process. But before that, CAIR successfully cowed National Review magazine, Fox’s 24, and others into muting in various ways their criticism of Islamic violence and extremism.

Nor is CAIR alone among Muslims in its efforts at legal intimidation. Billionaire Saudi financier Khalid bin Mahfouz has sued journalist Rachel Ehrenfeld and others for libel in the U.K., where the libel laws favor plaintiffs. Ehrenfeld’s offense? In her book Funding Evil, she wrote that bin Mahfouz was involved in funding Hamas and al Qaeda. Bin Mahfouz denied that he had knowingly given any money to either. And Cambridge University Press has, in response to another libel suit filed by bin Mahfouz, just removed from circulation and destroyed all unsold copies of Alms for Jihad by Robert Collins and J. Millard Burr, because the book made essentially the same allegations. But France’s foreign intelligence agency has recently revealed that as long ago as 1996 Mr. bin Mahfouz was known as one of the architects of a banking scheme constructed for the benefit of Osama bin Laden – and that both U.S. and British intelligence services knew this.

The most notorious attempt at legal intimidation of all may be the Flying Imams case, in which six imams are suing US Airways because they were removed from a flight for suspicious behavior. They also attempted to sue the passengers who reported them, although this attempt has apparently been stymied by the retroactive immunity of the Peter King amendment to the Homeland Security bill. If the suit against the passengers had succeeded, imagine the effect: no one would dare report suspicious behavior in an airport or airplane, for fear of being sued. And jihad terrorists would have a free hand.

The lawyer for the Flying Imams is Omar T. Mohammedi, who as of 2006 was president of CAIR’s New York chapter.

The murder of Chauncey Bailey should provide renewed impetus to call upon the American Muslim community to take genuine action against the deeply ingrained culture of violence that provides the context in which such things happen. And the pattern of legal intimidation has been followed so many times now that Americans are becoming increasingly aware of how it works and how it can and must be resisted. For if this intimidation – both violent and nonviolent – is not resisted, those who are doing the intimidating will eventually succeed in establishing a protected class in America, an ideology that cannot be questioned or rejected. And that, more than anything else, will be the end of any semblance of Constitutional government.

....silencing your critics is a favorite Muslim tactic...rates right up there with eliminating the Christians and Jews....

What this says is that Islam is a highly insecure, jumpy religion--like a meth addict, in some ways.

Chauncey Bailey, intrepid journalist, will be missed. How many Chauncey Baileys will we need to uncover the true face of Islamic religious extremism in this country? How many more reporters will have the courage and integrity to ask questions and seek answers at peril to their safety and lives?

With no personal bodyguards, no weapons, no martial arts or paramilitary training, Chauncey Bailey still was not cowed by the fear that warps most of the major media outlets into avoiding or ignoring the truth to avoid threats and intimidation by the ROP. What Chauncey Bailey had was journalistic integrity; he sought the truth in difficult circumstances never waivering from investigating leads to their logical conclusion.

He made the ultimate personal sacrifice to deliver the truth to us; what are we willing to sacrifice to uncover the truth?

Meanwhile there is this story about Islam:

'Hamas forced professor to convert'
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH

"Fatah officials in Ramallah claimed over the weekend that Professor Sana al-Sayegh, who teaches at Palestine University in Gaza City, was kidnapped by Hamas militiamen who forced her to convert to Islam against her will.

The officials said the president of the university, Dr. Zaher Khail, had assisted Hamas in kidnapping the professor.

They added that senior officials in the office of Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh played a major role in forcing her to convert to Islam.

"She was forced to convert to Islam against her will," the Fatah officials said. "She was kidnapped and held for two weeks during which time she was not allowed to contact her family." Sayegh is the dean of the Science and Technology Faculty at Palestine University. She has represented the university at numerous conferences around the world over the past few years and is considered one of the most prominent experts in her field.

According to the Fatah officials, she went missing in late June. When her family's attempts to find her failed, they sought the help of Haniyeh's office.

Two weeks later the family was summoned to a meeting with some of Haniyeh's aides, who were accompanied by the professor.

At the meeting, which was held at the home of Hamas official Rafik Makki, the family was told that the professor had converted to Islam and married a Muslim man...."

I posted this yesterday on the wnd blog. More attention should be paid to Mien Kampf. I detect Hitler's suggested techniques used in these matters.

Spiritual Terror, Intimidation, Silence

In Mien Kampf Hitler expounds on the propaganda/intimidation lessons he learned in Vienna (before World War I) and Hitler suggested the use of what he termed "spiritual terror" to intimidate and silence critics. Hitler tells us he learned from the Social Democrat Party that the way to silence critics-opponents, and to intimidate anyone who might listen to them, is to unleash "....a veritable barrage of lies and slanders against whatever adversary seems most dangerous, until the nerves of the attacked persons break down and, just to have peace again, they sacrifice the hated individual ....Conversely, they praise every weakling on the opposing side, sometimes cautiously, sometimes loudly, depending on the real or supposed quality of his intelligence".

Muslims often use this tactic against their critics, and often the public watches as a cowardly corporate, educational or media establishment icon bends to pressure and is willing to "sacrifice the hated individual" to appease Muslims and others who wish to silence those who speak the truth re Jihad and Islamic terrorism.

Mien Kampf and the Quran are the two most popular books in the Muslim World (especially in the Mideast). Many tactics Hitler suggested in Mien Kampf are being used by Muslims against anyone who speaks the truth re Islam and Muslim terrorism. (Lately CAIR has become the hindquarters of these "spiritual terror" tactics.) Many Muslims have learned well from Hitler on how to employ "spiritual terror" tactics to silence criticism of Islam, silence anyone who exposes Muslim terrorism.

Final thought:

The fact that Mien Kampf is a bestseller in the Muslim World (especially the Mideast) is good reason to study it for Hitler's insights into how to intimidate-silence critics. For example, the recent CAIR attack on Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch are Hitler's "spiritual terror" tactics to a "t". So too with the "Flying Imams" farce.

We are all in danger from Islamic (CAIR , e.g.)fascists who unleash "a veritable barrage of lies and slanders against whatever adversary seems most dangerous, until the nerves of the attacked persons break down and, just to have peace again, they sacrifice the hated individual". The "hated individual" is the one who sticks to the facts, who tells the truth. I have no doubt that many Muslims are familiar with Hitler's "Spiritual terror" theories and are using them to silence critics.

Posted by: Frank [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 6, 2007 9:50 AM

The "spiritual terror" Hitler suggested as a means to silence/intimidate critics is but one step before physical violence, as well as book burning and then the burning of people. The mind that engages in such "thought" is first violent against others on an intellectual level (slander, etc.) but will eventually escalate to physical violence.

Why these people seem almost as dangerous as real muslims!

Posted by: MP [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 6, 2007 10:23 AM

Frank,

Thanks for the insight into Mein Kampf. I had heard previously of the links between Nazism and Islamic Extremism but didn't know how easy it would be to find.

Has anyone even read the Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie? I have been reading a couple of pages per night now for a while. It is a most interesting read. A little bit above my reading level in fact. The guy can right a page without ending a sentence. It really is pretty amazing.

But what's funny to me about the book is that there is an allusion in it to itself and the criticism I think Rushdie anticipated. One of the characters talks about making a film about the Satanic Verses incident with Muhammad and answers criticism by pointing out that it is merely FICTION. Not intended to be any type of historical account. And that is exactly what the book is. A work of FICTION. Apparently that isn't a clear concept in the Muslim world. Probably because they can't tell that most of the Koran is fiction as well. Ha!

I could only imagine what was done to poor lady professor to force her to convert to Islam (then again she was properly an avid supporter of the Jihad vis-vie Fatah). Many Coptic, Assyrian, Pakistani Christian women had similar treatment with similar results. Rape and video tape are usually the ticket.

Incidents like this one make my blood boil with anger at the pali Islamo-Christian dogs who are most of the Palestinian Christians living in the U.S., Canada and Europe (I met a ton of them and they overwhelmingly are the lap dogs of Msulims). My brother met a bunch of them at a wedding and they were all wearing the pali flag and praising Hamas and Hezbollah and cursing the U.S. and Israel. The Palestinian Christian Diaspora should pack up and go live under Hamas where their daughters get kidnapped, raped and converted, their sons get shot down like dogs, their priests and nuns get hacked to death.

Posted by: have_mercy [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 6, 2007 11:39 AM

Whoa have_mercy!!!! Have mercy, please. We have a large community here in Chicago of Assyrian Christians. One is my manicurist and one was a former neighbor. BOTH informed me long, long before September 11, 2001 of what was happening to Christians in Muslim lands and neither painted a pretty picture nor adopted a dhimmi posture towards their former masters. Both are happy to be in the USA and both are devout Assyrian Christians who wonder that American Christians can be so dense about what is being endured by their brothers and sisters in Islamic lands.

In fact after I had read some of Mr. Spencer's and Mr. Trifkovic's books, I approached my manicurist and asked her forgiveness for my former scepticism about some of her claims of genocide, kidnapping and rape. She was most gracious in explaining that she doesn't expect American women to understand what life is like in Islamic ruled countries.

Is the Oakland incident something very specific to the Nation of Islam, or are we seeing a more common Muslim practice in action?

Posted by: Infidel Pride [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 6, 2007 1:30 PM

v4ri4bl3-

The "spiritual terror" tactics recommended by Hitler were recalled as I read the article re Robert's the talk at the college, the attempt to silence him by CAIR. As I read it, Hitler's words from Mien Kampf came int my head. I think Mien Kampf needs to be looked at more carefully. Though it's not a book that is about the search for truth (LOL), it is instructive re propaganda and techniques, methods to silence/intimidate critics.

Mien Kampf is supposed to be Hitler's autobiography, but there are really no biographies of Hitler. He never changed, never grew emotionally (he's not Churchill, Lincoln). Instead, we get a story of how this unchanging creature got power, but his inner life is dead. His "autobiography" is really about power, intimidation, lies. (Imagine Churchill or Lincoln writing an autobiography and expounding on how the "big lie" should be used as a method in politics.)

However, the book should be taken seriously.

Did the FBI know what was really cooking at that "bakery?" According to MM's website, Your Black Muslim Bakery was several muslim businesses, including a school (operated year-round to keep kids out of trouble!)and a security company(!). I'd like to audit this outfit.

How many bakeries and schools have weapon caches? Oakland is a dump, but these are the people who make it so.

Your Black Muslim Bakery. Mmmmmmmm

Does that mean white Infidels are not allowed or is their some kind of service out the back door?

I figured it would only be a matter of time for something like this to happen. When Mr. Farrican is ever seen he is always followed by some hard looking dudes in suddo military guard with facial expressions that define the term " if looks could kill"

just another group of people with anger managment problems

So, is it considered a hate crime when it is a Muslim on Muslim crime in the US? I mean it goes on every day in the Middle East, so that would backlog the "courts" over there to even prosecute ANYONE for killing. Well, that and the fact that there's not usually anyone to prosecute since they still can't seem to come up with a way to kill a bunch of people without killing themselves in the process. And these are the same geniuses that want the US to live under sharia law?? You know what, i'll buy into that the same day that they can prove to me that it will make even ONE person's life better in this country.

Posted by: cbaker0220 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 6, 2007 4:15 PM

What would the response be if I was to open a bakery called "YOUR WHITE CHRISTIAN BAKERY"?

Just askin.

My question is, if they want to live under sharia law, why do they come here? What's that? for the great education, good jobs, freedom of religion more oppertunity for their children? So when sharia law takes over and America turns into a mulsim sh%&hole, then what?

Without the wealth of western (christian) civilisation, there would be no one to send kabillions of dollars in "foreign aid" to the ummah.

Do they really think an America under Sharia would be any more productive than say an oil rich Saudi Arabia under sharia?

I really don't think they've thought this through.

"...this attempt has apparently been stymied by the retroactive immunity of the Peter King amendment to the Homeland Security bill."
Just a technical point - isn't retrospective legislation contrary to the US constitution? I vaguely remember that a politician opposed the Nuremburg trials on these grounds.

Well, at least it's not false advertising, they tell the public exactly where they stand. The trick is to decode the smokescreens and inform the many who are still in the dark as to this conquering ideology's "gameplan" which has existed since the advent of islam and continues to serve as motivation today for would be "martyrs."

It will be interesting to see how many "Your White Christian/Jewish Bakerys" pop up in the near future. I can guarantee you our heads will be spinning when we see how fast the ACLU and CAIR release the lawyer hounds to shut em down!

What this event REALLY says about Islam is that Islam is pure, hardcore totalitarianism and will back this political orientation up with any and all violence at its disposal as needed.
