"But, he said, the government should also ensure that Nasreen is not allowed to do or write anything which hurts the sentiments of Muslims. 'The government should immediately cancel her visa and make her go out of the country,' he said, adding, 'she should realise that this is not Bangladesh or Pakistan, but India where the sentiments of all communities are respected.'" But not the sentiments of Taslima Nasreen and those who agree with her. And not the sentiments of those who believe that Islamic blasphemy law does not and should not supersede modern laws based on the principles of free inquiry and free speech.
As Islamic supremacism continues to advance under the radar screen in the West as well as in India, those principles will be increasingly imperiled.
An update on this story. "Muslim leaders condemn Taslima attack," from PTI (thanks to Andrew Bostom):
New Delhi: Muslim leaders and intellectuals today strongly condemned the attack on controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen, terming the incident as "shameful" and "barbaric"."The incident was outrageous and shameful. In a civilised society, you have a right to approve or disapprove of anything," noted lyricist and author Javed Akhtar said.
Observing that fundamentalists are becoming "bolder and bolder by the day", he said, "these (the attackers) are the same people who criticise Bajrang Dal and VHP. What is the difference between them and the Hindu fundamentalist organisations?"
"Fundamentalists are getting bolder and bolder as they can get away with almost anything. That is the problem," Akhtar said.
Delhi Minorities Commission chairperson Kamal Farooqui said the incident was condemnable, specially as three MLAs were involved in it.
But, he said, the government should also ensure that Nasreen is not allowed to do or write anything which hurts the sentiments of Muslims.
"The government should immediately cancel her visa and make her go out of the country," he said, adding, "she should realise that this is not Bangladesh or Pakistan, but India where the sentiments of all communities are respected."

It's important to remember that you couldn't say anything against Nazi's, either, back in their heyday.
People who ban criticism fear it the most because they know it's warranted.

Anyone who wants more detailed information on islam and defeating any of its "alleged" claims of greatness please go check out www.faithfreedom.org today.
This site so thoroughly smashes islamic lies it will turn a leftist into a realist.
Also, www.religionofpeace.com or westernresistance.com for daily headcounts of muslim murders worldwide.

"Delhi Minorities Commission chairperson Kamal Farooqui said the incident was condemnable, specially as three MLAs were involved in it."
Oh, those shameful MLA's! India's Muslims are moderate, meaning they should seek to shut mouths using the law rather than physical violence.
"The government should immediately cancel her visa and make her go out of the country," he (Farooqui)said, adding, "she should realise that this is not Bangladesh or Pakistan, but India where the sentiments of all communities are respected."
But it's hard to blame Nasreen for confusing India with Bangladesh. She was physically threatened in, and asked to leave both countries.

Well, the moslems in my country have been offending my sentiments for a long time, and I think the government should immediately cancel their visas and/or citizenships and make them go out of the country.
Remember "1984": when the pigs learned to walk on two legs, the slogan "four legs good, two legs bad" became "four legs good, two legs better"? In India Mr. Farooqui says the sentiments of all communities are respected, but moslem sentiments should be respected more than any others.
But he's right that India is not Pakistan or Bangladesh, there she would simply have been killed, either by the government or by a mob.

Hey, ebonystone, that's Orwell allright, but "Animal Farm."
And what Mr. Farooqui says is worthless. It's PC bullcaca that has nothing to do with the truth.

Hindu's aren't people of the book. Therefore they are not even to be left alive by islamic belief.
The train bombings. The Kashmir murders. Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Will there be an India if the muslims have their way? They separate the country and then regroup inside the country again.

These muslims in India want any critiscism of islam banned while their holy book oh hate and death to pagans is given the highest authority.
unfortuntly there are indians who will agree with these muslims. some are even in power right now.
at August 11, 2007 11:48 AM
It would be easier for Muslims to leave, since they are offended by freedom itself.
How the hell did they get to Inda (or Pakistan, etc.) anyway?
Why aren't they in Arabia where they originate?
Is Islam some kind of imperialist and expansionist ideology of totalitarian theocratic world conquest, by any chance?

It's the same old double-talk.
"Well, yes, we abhor violence, in Islam we respect all religions... but, really, if you're going to allow people to insult the Prophet and Allah in such a way, you can't blame them for strapping on suicide belts: you've left them no alternative... The logical thing would be to eliminate the source of their grievance and then we'll all be able to live in harmony."
What Muslim spokesperson, in which country, has failed to deliver this speech in recent years?

Nothing can top this.
Taslima is charged by Hyderabad police or disturbing communal harmony. Whereas the 3 state senators who attacked Taslima and threatened to behead her have been let go by police. MIM is a political party supporing ruling Dhimmi political party called Congress(I).

Forget what they say. Look at what they do.

These Muslims got to India through conquest and conversions, usually forced.
The big question is why are they still there??
Why haven't the Hindus and Sikhs whose religion really says to fight against evil people (monster, vampires, Satanists, murderers, etc), haven't acted yet? Both the Hindu gods ram and Krishna fought and conquered evil beings. Krishna even made brothers fight against brothers for god.
Yet these modern hindus have really become half buddhists who are ready to hand all of india to the evil islamists. for the sake of peace of course.

Scary thing is that most people in our PC education system and government would agree that we, as a public, should not "[hurt] the sentiments of Muslims." That statement is the very basis of PC thought and action. It also is the complete opposite of the First Amendment right in this country. Down with PC. Up with our constitution!

Looks like the local dhimmi police are heeding their demands. One silver lining on this one - the local Muslims are now turning their guns on the Communists. That's the next best thing after internecine Muslim fighting.
On a different note, India has elected as VP a man who was busy campaigning against Hindus after the Godhra riots. Way to go, traitors!

It's crazy.

Yes, her sepech should be banned in India, she would be denfinitely stoned to death in Pakistan or Bangladesh. Her only refuge, if she does not choose to be silenced, is US; only till CAIR gains capabilty of influencing every branch of government, legislative, executive and judiciary as well as media; or till followers of 'religion of peace' reach the critical (1/10) of total population.
After that she would have no place on the Earth.
Anyway, she won't choose to be 'reconverted' and be a female 'martyr' as there is no provision of 72 virgin males waiting for her. She might choose to go to hell, at least that would be free of all those following 'religion of peace'.

THE MIM party which threatened Taslima also sided with the Nizam in refusing to join the Indian union. Sardar Patel sent in the army who beat these guys into submission. What India needs is more Patels now, not Nehru like figures who pander to the minority

Despite having been at war agaist Muslims who want to annihilate India for the past 50 plus years, India is still weak in its determination to survive.
So much kowtowing to Islam doen't reflect the other side of the mirror. In Pakistan there is only hatred against India and everything non-Muslim that it represents.
India needs badly clear ideas and some backbone if it wants to survive.

To not allow any criticism is the end of freedom. The world must stop caving in to Muslim demands. Everybody suffers but them.
