1938 Alert: "Iranian Unit to Be Labeled 'Terrorist': U.S. Moving Against Revolutionary Guard," by Robin Wright for the Washington Post (thanks to all who sent this in):
The United States has decided to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, the country's 125,000-strong elite military branch, as a "specially designated global terrorist," according to U.S. officials, a move that allows Washington to target the group's business operations and finances. The Bush administration has chosen to move against the Revolutionary Guard Corps because of what U.S. officials have described as its growing involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as its support for extremists throughout the Middle East, the sources said. The decision follows congressional pressure on the administration to toughen its stance against Tehran, as well as U.S. frustration with the ineffectiveness of U.N. resolutions against Iran's nuclear program, officials said.
The designation of the Revolutionary Guard will be made under Executive Order 13224, which President Bush signed two weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to obstruct terrorist funding. It authorizes the United States to identify individuals, businesses, charities and extremist groups engaged in terrorist activities. The Revolutionary Guard would be the first national military branch included on the list, U.S. officials said -- a highly unusual move because it is part of a government, rather than a typical non-state terrorist organization.
The order allows the United States to block the assets of terrorists and to disrupt operations by foreign businesses that "provide support, services or assistance to, or otherwise associate with, terrorists."

US to label Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps a "specially designated global terrorist"
This is basically a state within a state, not unlike the SS in Nazi Germany, or the PLA in China and they are no doubt into narcotics trafficking as well as so-called legitimate business. This is a step in the right direction, but finally it will be necessary to utterly destroy all the nuclear capability of Iran.
Last year, in the months prior to August 2006, the Psychotic-in-Iran repeatedly pointed to a coming event of great proportions that was to be the work of his god. Nothing happened. But I think what was to happen was the foiled plot to blow up numerous commercial aircraft at that time. A window into the world of these psychotics is what the head Psychotic dreamed of at that time.
Make no mistake of it, they will use nuclear weapons if they get them. They are as grounded in reality and have as much love for exact truth-fact as Ibby Hooper and CAIR. It's all about power-not truth with such people. It's a waste of time to negotiate with them. It's time for all of them to do the perp-walk.

What does this accomplish? Iran is already designated as a state sponsor of terrorism.
What does this enable us to do that isn't being done already?
What terrorist funding do we currently allow to go through the IRG? What's the point of the order?

Smoke and mirrors just like the 'WoT'-or Al Qaeda.
This is war against ISLAM. Unless this is understood we are fighting windmills like Don Quichote...

Iran is a Terrorist country, with the Head Goon, Ahmadinejad, wanting to "wipe Israel off the map."
Glad Mr. Bush is finally figuring that out.
No, we don't want to waste precious time like Don Quixote, fighting windmills. Iran's the Real Thing - Shut that Godforsaken Terrorist country DOWN.

"a highly unusual move because it is part of a government, rather than a typical non-state terrorist organization."
....in truth.....those typical non-state terrorist organizations probably receive a great deal of Muslim state support in the ways of weapons, money, and intelligence info....they all strive for the elimination of the Non Muslim....their actions prove it.....

great interview on You Tube with Hirsi Ali on why this is war against Islam, not a WoT. She makes the case at part 6 of a series of 6. But the whole thing is worthwhile.

And aint it about time.
And does it also mean that anywhere on the face of this planet they can be taken out ?
That too is necessary.
Dead or alive.

Its just another title. This is like when the Useless Nations tries to impose sanctions. You could label them what you want, but we still have got to do something about it. No words just bombs, it is what islam wants to do to us, so I think that we should take the 1st step. Iran would be a great starting point.

MZ the dhimmicrats are finished, not that the repubz are much better. The times are changin, God forbid another attack and I think the politicians will have NO choice but to listen to the folks that put them in power. It is already starting to happen, look at the immigration bill. Watch as Mayor Destefano (New Haven) gets voted out of office the next time he is running. The people aren't going to forget his little I.D. card episode, giving illegals rights that my grandparents had to sit on Ellis Island for. The funny thing is my grandma and grandpa never cried racism throughout the whole ordeal.

How many regiments of lawyers did it take to come up with this? What are we going to do bomb them with writs? Watch someone in Congress fight the designation.

The real question is, will the US take military action against this group. I think we should. They are attacking US interests in Iraq. They do it rather brazenly too. Check out some of

Someone please point out why this makes sence.
The Revolutionary Guard does nothing without the approval of the 'high religous leader' first and the presidant second.
Are we to believe that the Revolutionary Guard, operates without Goverment knowledge? has their own bank accounts and investments throughout the world? And if so, where does the money come from but the Goverment of Iran.
So, does this mean America has no problem with the Iranian Army?
Someone let the U.S. State Department know that there is a new U.S. recognized terrorist organization that they can start sending money to. How long before Condi starts saying 'the Revolutionary Guard are good and peaceful'?

LMAO
It's like the typical 3rd grader who just got his ego deflated by the teacher, trying desperately for some comeback to save what little face he has left, going:
"*huff* oh, yeah?! *huff* *puff* well *sniff* uhhh *snivel* we can attack you guys, so you better be scared! *sniff* *sniff*"
LOL, pathetic.

It looks quite clear US is doing everything it can to NOT hold Iran responsible for their endless terrorist support.
This is amusing in a derranged sort of way.

This move would probably enable us to go after he Revolutionary Guards directly if we do decide to take militry action against Iran. Since Iran is already on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, this move is probably unnecessary. However, maybe there is some other legal reason for making this move that I am unaware of. Perhaps a legal expert should post comments on this to cleify any questions or doubts that people may have about the need for this move.
