Humanity can have no happiness without Islam. Humanity can enjoy no goodness, unless the sun of monotheism, the Koran, and the Sunna shines upon it. The world without the sun of the divine revelation is a place of eternal darkness, as we can see today – a world of frustration, collapse, injustice, arbitrariness, and wrongdoing. The world today is a jungle – a world of barbarism of all kinds. People in many parts of the world are not happy, because they do not walk in the path of Allah.

There are rules of shari'a in everything. We have counted almost 70 rules about how to urinate and defecate. In contrast, how do those beasts in the West answer the call of nature? They stand in front of other people, in toilets at airports and other public places. They do not care about covering their private parts. Even their underwear is colored and not white, so it can conceal all that filth. We are a nation that has long known the meaning of cleanliness, what to do when nature calls, and what the rules of hygiene are. The others, to this day, live like beasts. To this day, many of them are not circumcised, even though the World Health Organization has advised to circumcise people as a treatment for AIDS, because it has been scientifically proven that circumcised people are less susceptible to AIDS, and are less likely to spread it than uncircumcised people.

Yeah, when I think of happiness, Islamic lands are the first places that come to my mind. In fact, we decided to make Saudi Arabia the destination of our next family vacation. The kids had at first suggested Disney World, but I told them that "Happiest Place on Earth" nonsense was just a way to get their money. We want to experience true happiness -- the goodness, the happiness, the justice, the non-arbitrariness of Islam as practiced in that most Islamic of countries, Saudi Arabia.

Another manifestation of the obsession with external factors-- beards for men, veils for women, and so on, with this cleric now taking issue with underwear. ("Hey, you, start looking pious!") Of course, nothing is off-limits when absolute regulation of every aspect of life is the goal.
Still, some impertinent audience member should have raised his hand and asked the cleric whether "going commando" would be preferable to scandalously festive underwear.

I don't think anyone had underwear in the seventh century other than wearing some type of diaper or loin cloth; probably colored in order to not expose the inevitable stains left over from using pebbles.
My ex-wife, who is an RN, tells me that these are the nastiest people she has ever had to attend to. She says the men are filthy in those areas of concern.
I think they will all have brown underwear when this country awakes and the "brown dye" hits the fan.

I'm with you. But I used to be an Air Force wife and I realized early on that I had to be careful about jokes I told the guys in the squadron. I remember telling pretty clean jokes and then we would progress to the ones with one off colored word in it. But once I told a joke that had one word in it the guys would be like, oh, okay she said an off-colored word so now I can tell you the one about having sex with somebody's dead grandmother. And that is when I would go home because I could see that the Genie was out of the bottle and we weren't going to get it back in.

It's not a treatment, but some studies have shown that being circumcized somewhat reduces the risk of contracting AIDS from unprotected sex (or maybe it reduces the risk of transmitting AIDS; I forget). Of course strict monogamy obviously works a lot better, but that is out of the question in Islam I guess, what with all the polygamy, divinely-sanctioned rapes and so on.

On one hand (no pun intended), I agree with you: cut down the toilet humor. But then again, as Ameriki put it, when responding to something like the Imam's comments above, it's hard to talk seriously about all that with a straight face. Of course, if any of us are near our meals, we should avoid this thread altogether. Special Guest cited a MEMRI broadcast where Mohammed's toilet habits were discussed, but like I pointed out above, the hadiths too have references to some of the toilet policies of Islam - it isn't something one finds only in the 4 schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
On the other subject of circumcision preventing AIDS, there was a belief about that in the past, although now it's been proven that there is no medical rationale behind it, and those who want to do it for religious reasons should plainly do so and leave it at that, without attempting further rationalizations.

I have actually read many of the rules and they do little to enhance hygiene; such as the direction you face while defecating and the manner in which you enter a toilet. It's pretty embarrassing for them to have people obsessing over the toilet so much.

As far as circumcision to "prevent" aids goes, this reminds me of the philosophy of coitus interruptus being a great idea for preventing pregnancy. He needs to be informed, if not reminded that we *beasts* in the West invented or developed such things as hot and cold running water, flushing toilets, toilet paper, wash basins, soap and towels, hot air blowers. Hey!, we even invented airports!!
The idea (which I've seen expressed before) that only Islam has any rules for hygiene is obvious nonsense. I was taught as a child how to use a toilet, without reference to ANY scriptures, let alone the Koran.

This is really very sad. At first I was incredulous, then upset that we consider this man's nation an "ally" and finally I started laughing, thanks to all the great posts here. But then I followed one of the links that went into detail on the subject at hand (not all 70 moves but the basic toilet etiquette) and it just struck me as genuinely tragic. Combined with Islam's extremely severe sexual repression of both women and men, this sort of programing is enough to keep anyone in a permanently unnatural and anxious frame of mind. And that is truly sad.
It is difficult to say what will do them in as a political and cultural force in the world-- the dangerous and empty promise of jihad or the inevitable entropy of a 7th century guidebook for life. Surely the synergy of both forces will be enough to liberate some Muslim souls who allow themselves- or force themselves- to see the light. I will pray for that eventuality.

Coming to the end of the fourth day of posting this request at Jihad Watch, and we are up to 27 volunteers. California is now in the lead, with four.
I'm looking for at least two people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase a copy of Robert Spencer's Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't and mail it to one of the senators in your state. I'm organizing an effort to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message.
If we get more than two people per state, we’ll also send copies to the House of Representatives.
If you’d like to be involved, please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading “Senate,” and tell me the state your senator represents, an email address where I can reach you, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I’ll try to update the list at least once a day. I've also designed a new graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.
Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.
Right before we do the mailing, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.
Update: one of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the anti-Jihad caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also called several congressional offices to try to get advice on how best to go about this. And I'll soon contact Regnery, Robert Spencer's publisher, to ask their advice and to see if we can coordinate with them in some way.

No, Barnabas, in all its variants, is not a Mohammedan name but a great Christian name.
It is BARNA, a nickname in Hungarian for Barnabás, meaning "son of exhortation."
In full it is BARNABÁS in Hungarian which is a form of the Greek Barnabas, meaning "son of exhortation."

That Barnabas played at least an important a role as Saul (Paul) is manifest from Scripture if one does just a little recension.
All the roots of this name are thoroughly Judeo-Christian.

Thank you for the explanation as I love history but it was a joke! I believe I first heard mention of the name when my cousin tried to give me one (the said Barney) but I was pretty nimble back then and got away without any damage to my self respect or the elastic on my underwear. Back then the goal was to inflict the wedgie and then stick your thumbnail in the top of the panties and rip the back elastic off as a trophy. This process was also later referred to as a Melvin. Anyway, she's lucky she didn't succeed because my mom would have killed her. She had enough problems with trying to get out the ice plant stains we used to get on our Catholic school socks because we insisted on climbing the hill by our house to get home faster (this was a real shortcut) rather than walking around and climbing yet another hill. But, I digress.

That Muslim's claim about the Hadith is neither new nor unusual; rather it is a traditional, mainstream view. {The material below is excerpted from a post that was in the Islam-Watch forum}
The Quran itself suggests that being exposed only to its recited words is, while necessary, not sufficient. It says Muhammad also teaches the believers the Quran's contents and, most critically, teaches them the "Wisdom" (Hikmah), which many scholars take to mean Sunnah, Hadith. Quran 3:164 states:
3:164. “Certainly Allah conferred a benefit upon the believers when He raised among them an Apostle from among themselves, reciting to them His communications and purifying them, and teaching them the Book [i] and the wisdom [ii], although before that they were surely in manifest error.” (Brackets added; also see 2:129, 2:151, 4:113).

That is clearly referring to sources other than the text of the Quran itself, in particular, to Muhammad's teaching of the "wisdom." Of that verse, in arguing for the importance of Sunnah, Shaykh Shahidullah Faridi writes:
“Here God has told us of the four functions of the Prophet, of which only the first refers to the Qur'an, "reciting His revelations"; the other three are besides this, of "purifying", "teaching the Book" and "teaching Wisdom". These four functions have been described as the purpose for which God has sent the Messenger, and God's guidance to man will be fulfilled and completed by all and not by one only. All these functions are therefore part of God's guidance through the person of the Prophet.” [1]
Ibn Kathir explains the verse as follows (excerpt):
"The Magnificent Blessing in the Advent of Our Prophet Muhammad. Allah the Most High said: (Indeed Allah conferred a great favor on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from among themselves,) Meaning, from their own kind, so that it is possible for them to speak with him, ask him questions, associate with him, and benefit from him. … Allah's favor is perfected when His Messenger to the people is from their own kind, so that they are able to talk to him and inquire about the meanings of Allah's Word. This is why Allah said, (reciting unto them His verses) [3:164], the Qur'an, (and purifying them), commanding them to do righteous works and forbidding them from committing evil. This is how their hearts will be purified and cleansed of the sin and evil that used to fill them when they were disbelievers and ignorant. (and instructing them (in) the Book and the Hikmah,) the Qur'an and the Sunnah, (while before that they had been), before sending this Prophet, Muhammad,
(in manifest error.) indulging in plain and unequivocal error and ignorance that are clear to everyone." [2]
Likewise, al-Jalalayn interprets the word wisdom (hikmah) in 3:164 as "Sunnah." [3] Ibn Abbas interprets wisdom in that verse as "the lawful and the prohibited." [4]
Also important to this concept of following Muhammad to follow Allah are these verses and statements, among many others:
4:80. "Whoso obeyeth the messenger hath obeyed Allah, and whoso turneth away: We have not sent thee as a warder over them."
3:31. “Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 3:32. Say: Obey Allah and the messenger. But if they turn away, lo! Allah loveth not the disbelievers (in His guidance).”
33:21. “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.”
Sahih Bukhari: Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: If someone says to his wife, "You are unlawful to me." he must make an expiation (for his oath). Ibn 'Abbas added: There is for you in Allah's Apostle, an excellent example to follow. (Book #60, Hadith #433)

I am not a psychiatrist but all these issues concerning Islamic bathroom activities detailing what Mohamed required may give us an important insight into Mohamed as a necrophilia. Some of the observations made here have detailed somewhat like in a good clinical presentation that Mohamed had certain impulses” (e.g., pedophilia, scoptophilic, enslavement), “certain experiences” (e.g., primal scene traumata), and “certain defensive configurations” (against, e.g., destructive wishes toward women, children and other people outside his family these apparently come together and contribute to a specific fantasy and specific forms of behavior. We can see how Mohammed’s organizing fantasies ramify in the mental lives of him like other mentally ill patients, influencing his moods, the quality of his relationships, and his interests, symptoms, resistances, and transference neuroses. If there is a psychiatrist who is a reader of jihad watch perhaps the person could offer a psychoanalytic interpretation of Islam and Mohamed.

I just got back from work to my house - it's 2:30PM local time in the Land of Perpetual Cleanliness (Saudi Arabia).

Early '80's, I was a military instructor assigned to Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. At the time, the Marines were living in small wooden open bay barracks. The School assigned the Foreign Student Barracks to them. The FSB was a three story concrete block building with mostly Saudi, Kuwaiti, and a few Egyptian military students living there.
The first thing the Marines did was to gut the building. Everything that could be picked up or unbolted went out the windows. The second thing they did was to start on the third floor and work their way down with firehoses.

If pez was there recently, he can confirm - Jeddah is literally 5 years away from drowning in its sewage. Public estimates are that less than 30% of all urban buildings (public or private residential compounds and homes)are connected to muncipal water and sewage lines. Everyone depends on tanker trucks to bring water in and take sewage out. New housing developments are following the same pattern.
In Jeddah, the problem is bad enough in some areas that home owners have illegally hired people to drill wells on their property, not for water but for a place to dump their sewage.

I deliberately excluded the Nobel Prizes in Literature and Peace since they are often influenced by politics, whereas I wanted the clear contribution in Sciences and Economics, which is often the substitute Nobel Prize for Mathematics.

There is some plausible historical/archeological evidence that some 4 or 5 thousand years ago people in the middle east noticed a relation between diet, excretory hygiene and health.
I imagine that the first thing they did was to exercise their primitive, underfed and overactive imaginations to come up with dozens of superstitious rituals and taboos to take advantage of this newly discovered truth.
Certainly the final result was a mixture of absurdity and common sense.
I've heard people, for example, make a believable argument for the idea that pig meat and shellfish were too often unsafe in the ancient middle east to be overlooked as taboos. But the various absurdities of kosher law give the lie to its supposedly scientific basis.
Although I have to admit, I smile at the idea of Moses telling the Israelites, "Listen up people, we've got a really long way to go, so whatever you do, don't eat the damn camels!"
In any case, there is some good reason to believe that early religious developments in the middle east involved a number of good housekeeping and personal hygiene rules -- and the enshrinement of those in religious ritual and in the then still new and fascinating concept of "law" as distinct from the diktat of the local king.

The rest of the world moved on. Even the Jews relaxed the strictness of adherence to kashrut, or at least to the full extent of it.
But among the mohammedans we can see those taboos, which were already ancient by the time of mohammed, still alive and intact. (For all I know they may have been modern innovations in the Arabian peninsula of mohammed's day).
And perhaps it is the preoccupation with enforcing those ancient taboos, which is truly the societal mammoth preserved in ice, so to speak.
