Intifada: the Palestinian "resistance," targeting innocent civilians and celebrating that targeting. Deborah Almontaser was disingenuous in explaining the meaning of the word, and defended it, and was rightly excoriated for doing so. But now Muslim groups are claiming that in getting heat for defending jihad terrorism she was a victim of -- you guessed it -- "racism" and "bigotry."
As if it is "racist" to stand up for human decency and the civilization that is menaced by the Islamic jihadists.
From Newsday (thanks to James):
NEW YORK - Supporters of an Arabic-themed academy are calling for the reinstatement of the public school's founding principal, who resigned amid a frenzy of negative publicity after she defended the word "intifada" on T-shirts.About 200 people demonstrated in support of the Khalil Gibran International Academy on Monday night, gathering in front of the city's Department of Education.
They carried signs that read "NYC needs multi-cultural education" and "The Torah and the Koran both teach peace." Many were Muslims themselves, while others were Jewish.
They shared outrage over the political flaying that led Deborah Almontaser, the founding principal, to resign earlier this month.
"I thought this was not just an attack on her as an Arab, as a Muslim, but this was an attack on our community as a whole," said Sara Said Alkhulaidi, originally from Yemen, but now living in Brooklyn.
Almonteser had defended the use of the word "intifada," an Arabic term commonly used to refer to the Palestinian uprising against Israel, by Arab Women Active in Art and Media on T-shirts. The term, literally translated, meant "shaking off," Almonteser said, while asserting that she didn't think violence was suggested by the T-shirts.
But that response only helped to infuriate critics of the school.
They kept the volume of their rhetoric high on Monday, with critics warning students could be "indoctrinated" with radical Islamic beliefs.
State Assemblyman Dov Hikind said the school's children could be "indoctrinated" and warned in a statement that "establishment of an Arab school is a misguided and dangerous idea."
"It will not, as suggested, be a hope for peace; it is a blueprint for anti-Israel and anti-U.S. extremism," he said, adding that the school has been endorsed by "radical" groups.
Supporters called such statements "racist."
"Unless we all send a clear message that racist comments associating Arabic language and culture with terrorism will not be tolerated, we will continue to hear them again and again," the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee and other community groups said in a statement in support of the academy.
Sure. And as long as we tolerate the smearing of opposition to jihad mass murder and Islamic supremacism as "racism," we are going to see the race card again and again.

Okay, let's concede it's wrong to associate "Arabs" with "terrorism".
Let's associate "islamic arabs" with "terrorism and violence" as I for one don't see the Christian Arabs engaging or threatening violence or terrorism.

geez, I 'hope' that NYC stands up for what is right. (I can see Saudi money starting to flow... and then you can bet that 'right' will become whatever NYC wants it to be)
Although all of this should be expected if one reads the koran/hadiths/surrahs because it says they can do it to us, but we (infidels) can not do anything to them because they are muslim. They expect us to concede and apologize but they are taught they are not required to do such things. (I just read it in one of the cspipublishing.com books that I ordered)

The term "multi-cultural education" implies that this is a good thing. Were is the virtue in murder, oppression and intolerance for anything non-muslim? By playing the race card they are shifting the argument away from their weakness (lack of virtue). They don't want to assimilate into our society. The are really supporting what they call us. A racist agenda were they can indoctrinate and create anti-social groups like we see in England today. Breading grounds for advancing the Islamic agenda.

No, they were liberals who happened to be Jews.

This islamist madrassa should have never been discussed, much less advanced to the stage of hiring teachers and administrators. If the muslims want their own Arabic hate school, let them build it and fund it with Saudi money, not taxpayers' money. Better yet, if they want to live in an Arabic-speaking environment, they should return to their native countries. We do not need multiculturalism; we have our own culture and we plan to keep it. If they don't like it, LET THEM GET THE HELL OUT OF AMERICA!
The audacity of muslims gets more appalling every day. I'm so sick of their threats and complaints, as if they are doing us a favor by immigrating to our country only to exploit us every way they can. WHY ARE THEY HERE?!! Who needs or wants them? All muslims do is bitch and moan about imaginary "racism", "islamophobia", "bigotry" while they disparage America and Americans. Why do these disgusting savages voluntarily come to America and encourage their extended families to join them if they are abused and dissatisfied? I guess somebody told them they could just plant themselves and their umpteen jihadist brats on American soil and it would belong to them. I despise these people and everything they stand for! They do not belong in America and they do not deserve to be here. If we continue to allow our enemies to migrate to this country, we will pay dearly for our deliberate insanity.

Re: Supporters called such statements "racist."
As Hitler and Goebbels noted, such tactics have to be a constant. The charges of "racism" are Sudetenland style "spiritual terror" meant to silence and intimidate opposition. Goebbels said it was crucial to position one's group and oneself as a "victim" in these matters.
Hitler (from Mein Kampf) on the methods he learned in Vienna on how to silence critics: "I understood the infamous spiritual terror which this movement exerts, particularly on the bourgeoisie, which is neither morally nor mentally equal to such attacks; at a given sign it unleashes a veritable barrage of lies and slanders against whatever adversary seems most dangerous, until the nerves of the attacked persons break down and, just to have peace again, they (the PC in media and govt) sacrifice the hated individual(s).
However, the fools obtain no peace.
The game begins again and is repeated over and over until fear of the mad dog results in suggestive (PC) paralysis.........Conversely, they praise every (PC) weakling on the opposing side (who appease them), sometimes cautiously, sometimes loudly, depending on the real or supposed quality of his intelligence".
In regard to the "spiritual terror" tactics of Hitler (noted above), William Shirer (page 23, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich) said: "No more precise analysis of Nazi tactics, as Hitler was eventually to develop them, was ever written".
Hitler (and Goebbels) asserted it was very important to claim the status of "victim" while accusing the critics/opposition of the very tactics being used to silence them, the "barrage of lies and slander" being used against them. Hitler and Goebbels both noted the stupidity of "the masses" in the matter and counted on the (PC) fanaticism of supporters of "spiritual terror". Hitler said, "...in the ranks of their supporters the victory achieved (the silencing, the intimidation of critics) seems a triumph of justice of their own cause, the defeated adversary in most cases despairs of the success of any further resistance".
The tactics used by many on the left (and groups like CAIR) are right from Mein Kampf and Goebbels. It is no wonder Mein Kampf is as popular as the Quran in the Mideast.

As Goebbels noted, it is not the truth or the intellectual content of the propaganda that matters, what matters is "that it is effective". The charges of "racism" work-just as they did with Chamberlain in the Sudetenland. Were the charges true in the Sudetenland? Of course not. But it worked. And Goebbels said the charges must be repeated constantly. It's name calling and slander, slogans, lies, "spiritual" and Cartoon Rage "physical terror". It's Fibrahim Hooper style lies (knowingly charging Robert with a comment he deleted).
Does the truth matter with Fibrahim Hooper and others like him? No.

Muslims constantly harp on how they are not viewed as a part of American culture and loyal Americans. But, here, we have a glaring example of how being equal is not good enough; they want separate schools, their own language, their own culture, their own teachers, their own special curriculum, special ties to their own religion, special relationships with mentors from their own community, etc., etc.
The case for educating/cultivating fluent speakers/students in the Arabic language has been made several times, as if, we don't have any other way to educate enough Arabic language specialists from the general education pool. I'm not convinced this is so.
I'd like to know the full roster of dhimmis in support of this school, including any NY State Legislators, U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives.
Because, empowering this community at taxpayers' expense is an outrageous example of dhimmitude. And, we are soon going to see just exactly how much respect these people have for mainstream Americans when they gather for their march in NYC on September 9th.

Actually they have been conned by the hustlers. The Quran is set up longest to shortest verses, but what matters is the chronological order in the Quran. The earlier "peaceful verses" have been abrogated (like wine is OK, but later alcohol is banned). They don't realize that the final orders re Unbelievers are that they are to be subdued, converted, reduced to Dhimmi status or killed as per the later chronological orders. ("War is deception" as per Muhammad.)
They are conned. They read and think they see peaceful verses, but Muslims know the "peaceful verses" verses have been abrogated.

Isn't our existing culture already working well enough to become the main force for expanding knowledge and liberty in the world?

Years ago, when I was reading the Koran and trying to figure things out, which I still am, I picked up the phone book and looked under A for Arab, and called the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee and got one Mohammed Mehdi. Since deceased, Mehdi, an Iraqi, declaimed on the phone about how "no Jew from Brooklyn has a right to live in Palestine" etc. Resisting the urge to hangup, I eventually got to know Mehdi.
He was in favor of the destruction of Israel, backed terrorism, and on a radio talk show defended the expulsion of the Jews from Islamic lands after the 1948 Arab defeat because the Jews "had made themselves an enemy". He maintained that the Arabs would have backed Israel had the Zionists asked their permission first before establishing a state. His peace program was to facilitate the emigration of Jews from Israel. He was a friend of Saddam Hussein's and knew Qaddafi. He had a lot of cash to throw around and was a good host. I was his pen pal for a while but eventually our differences were too great.
It's been many years and I have no idea what ever happened to the Committee, but I doubt they've changed. Instead, the world has changed, to the point where the idea of disapproving of people with such violent, supramacist views is considered racist by many alleged progressives, and to the point where an Arabic school with a like-minded principal could show up in Brooklyn.
at August 21, 2007 7:27 PM
Frank -- that's right, so maybe they believe their own lies; and like you said, Muslims know that the old 'peaceful' verses have been replaced by the newest revelations of violence, so perhaps they're trying to con us.

How did it happen? Who decided that one "Sara Said Alkhuliadi," whose views we can guess, who is "originally from Yemen," is now "living in Brooklyn"? How did it happen that this government, which has as its first duty the protection of the citizens of this country, and of the legal and political institutions -- beginning with the Constitution and above all, its recognition and protection of the rights of the individual against the collective (i.e., the state), simply allowed in without thoroughly investigating what animates the sara-said-alkhulaidis of this world? "They carried signs that read "NYC needs multi-cultural education" and "The Torah and the Koran both teach peace." Many were Muslims themselves, while others were Jewish"
So, by citing the Torah and koran, the proponents of this "school" are demanding religious instruction in the guise of multi-cultural education? Will they have rabbis, priests, and ministers on staff to present some of the other faiths that make it "multi" cultural? Guess not. It's not surprising the ACLU is silent as these folks telegraph their intentions to impose their cultist beliefs on the American taxpayers' dime, but I'd like to know how the elected leaders -- who are sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution -- could ever justify their support of this violation of our 1st Amendment. They pander to their fear of reprisal or loss of incumbency or who-knows-what chickens##t excuse, while American ideals and rights are consistently eroded by people not worthy of the sacrifices and vision excercised by our forefathers.
Before these morons impose further multi-cultural education on us and our children, how about they take a lesson in American ideals and society's need for common, shared values and rights? Wait, maybe I spoke impetuously. I'll take multi-cultural studies, as long as they include comparative studies of the US Constitution and the koran, so each new American generation learns how islam is so obviously inimical to our individual and national well-being.

Hello all - destroy pigslam yadda yadda yadda
I had a thought about the islamofacist march on September 9th, a protest that any sane person would deem absurd and ridiculous considering the proximity to ground zero.
Let's have a free baseball bat giveaway like they do at games. Let's have truck loads of baseball bats "coincidentally" delivered around the corner from this "protest".
Islamofacists will scream "bigotry" and "racism" and we could reply quite honestly that they are wrong, we hate them and everything they stand for equally. Or we could just say they are right and then practice swinging the bats.
If say 20,000 baseball bats were to "fall off a truck" around the corner, I wonder how many calls for "death to America" would be heard.
Maybe this is wishful thinking. The other option would be to hold a "gun cleaning" presentation hosted by the NRA. How man guns are there in New York City again ???? hmmmmm
Ban everything islam period.
Don't start trouble and there won't be trouble. I really wouldn't recommend pissing off New Yorkers anymore than they already are.
at August 22, 2007 6:29 AM
This is what I find funny, even though it's not:
How can states continually violate the 2nd Amendment, like New Jersey, and virtually outlaw guns of any kind,
YET
Violations of Freedom of Religion (say...Islam?) can't? Why not? It happens to Christians, Hindus, et al...why not Islam?
Because the Leftists won't have it...the answer can't be any simpler. They won't support logic but will defend a "race" (pah!) underdog.
:P to them, I say!

Jesus would disagree that the Torah does not teach peace. To cite but one example, in St. Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus quoted the Torah, saying, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
The two passages that Jesus cites are Deuteronomy 6:4 and Leviticus 19:18, the latter of which Rabbi Hillel said comprehended “The entire Torah, the rest a mere commentary,” [Bavli Shabbat 31a].
Plus, the injunctions against crimes against humanity in the Ten Commandments are diametrically opposed to the Koran's entire tone and content.
People should always ask themselves, whenever they are about to comment on the Bible, "Do I really have a clue about what I am about to say?"
