Ibrahim Hooper, call your office: clearly Surayud Chulanont is a racist Islamophobe.
"Thai PM says peace talks fruitless in Muslim south," from AP (thanks to Twostellas):
BANGKOK (AFP) - Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Wednesday that separatists fighting in Muslim-majority provinces have refused to take up his offer to launch peace talks."As of now, there has been no progress on starting negotiations, because that would require the agreement of both sides. So there are no talks for now," he told reporters.
"My government is still adhering a policy of non-violence, but cooperation from the people is crucial," he said.
Since Surayud took office following a military coup last year, he has made a series of peace gestures to the militants fighting along the southern border with Malaysia.
But the violence has only escalated since the coup, and the government has deployed thousands more troops and paramilitary forces to the region.

When cancer takes root it must be cut out. We may have this problem with Michigan someday if we don't wise up fast.

They want "Islam".
And everybody knows that "Islam means peace".
(SLM, in a language with no vowels, can be turned into "salaam", -peace, or "islam", -submission.)
So, in a roundabout way, they do want a form of "peace"
The peace of the grave, specifically.
They'll even be glad to bury you.
Gratis.

"...separatists fighting in Muslim-majority provinces have refused to take up his offer to launch peace talks..."
.....that is because they think they are winning...Muslims only talk when they think they are losing....

Here is one of those perfect arguments to present to the left.....what has Thailand done in the war on terror or to agitate the muslims? NOTHING, they are not a player.
The muslims are trying to colonize and expand, but that flies under the MSM radar.
Even this guy understands muslims....appeasement and non-violence does not work.

The Thai government claims to have deployed troops, but they're remarkably ineffective at stopping these murders. It makes me wonder if they're covertly enabling the terrorists; after all, isn't the new leader Muslim?

The Muslim insurgency in Thailand is chiefly responsible for bringing about, as a reaction to the insurgency, the coup. Thus Islam is responsible for a grave injury to democracy in Thailand. That is an injury to us all. The Thai people are well-known for their eaay-going tolerance. That is part of why the brutal jihad in Thailand has not been brutally crushed.

Thai PM is also a superhero, known as Captain Obvious.

It's amazing. Think about it. Islam started in Arabia. Now it has engulfed 52 countries (52, is that right?). And they still want more.
The jihad marches on...

Does Mr Surayud Chulanont - or the King of Thailand - read English?
If so, they need to be sent copies of the following: Religion of Peace?; The Truth About Muhammad; The PIG to Islam and the Crusades; and Legacy of Jihad, with a bookmark ready placed in the section dealing with 'Islam in the East and in South Asia'.
They need to know about taqiyya, kitman, and hudna; about dar-al-Islam and dar-al-Harb.

dumbledoresarmy,
General Surayud is absolutely fluent in English as is the king. In fact, the King of Thailand was born in Massachusetts, making him the world's only US born reigning monarch.

Provoslavni - thanks for that information. That's really interesting.
So: is there anyone here who has a connection - familial, business, academic, etc - with Thailand, or a personal friendship with a Thai person, such that they might be able to follow the proper protocol for politely and humbly offering to the Thai King, and his General, those English-language books - by Spencer, by Bostom - which might be of use in Thailand's mortal struggle against the Jihad?
I can't do it myself, chiefly because my household budget is tight and I have to think carefully even about how much I spend on books for my own use.

BY GOD! THE THAIS ARE WAKING UP! GLORY BE!
Now the Thai Ambassador to the United Nations ought to be making quite a stir. He might offhandedly note, in a public remark, that the circumstance is "rather like" that in Hyderabad at the moment. He might suggest that it "distinctly resembles" the behaviour of Muslims in Malmo and Rotterdam and Clichy-sous-bois. And he might ask, ever-so-politely, whether the assembled might consider pondering the common thread.
Of course, no such thing will happen. But to hear even one Thai dignitary-- the President, no less!-- actually connecting the dots is important.
The drive for the separate Malay Muslim state of
"Patani"-- which has existed since the early 1900s, upon the annexation by Siam of the provinces presently called Patani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Songkhla, all of which were historically part of, or independent of but culturally linked to, Malaysian kingdoms. I'm not sure when the annexation happened-- 1902? 1909? I've heard differing reports-- but there have been intermittent calls for Jihad along the lines of those reported in Uighur Xinjiang ("East Turkestan") in China. Insurgencies have flared up in the 1930s and 1960s.
This most recent one began around 1998, intensified in 2001, and now look at it. Fish-sellers, ice-cream-men, teachers, monks. Slain. A seventy-year-old shot dead and tossed into a burning car. Jihad appeals made to peaceful Muslims all over the place. And as in the Philippines, there has been concerted effort by some clerics to promote coexistence and integration into Thai society. But most of these brave Muslim men have been killed or silenced.
So it's more of the same, really. Waqf. Whatever once belonged to Islam, belongs in perpetuity to Islam. And all the world, of course, belongs to Islam. Permanently.

I have family living in Thailand, or, more accurately, people I consider family. I am a university student of nineteen, and grew up with my father's Thai girlfriend around for much of my life. Her parents and small nieces are dear to me. They don't live in the South, but they might as well.
Warm, easygoing Thai (and Filipino) culture is as endangered as are the identities of all the nations of Western Europe that have brought upon themselves the calamity of large-scale Muslim migration. Likewise India, which appears to have imported the Western zeal for self-dhimmification among the élite and the press. A sad state of affairs.
