The Revolting Geek and his favorite book*
Not long before his conversion to Islam, Adam Gadahn wrote in a letter: "I am now, as ever, a revolting geek of mass proportions." Gadahn, you may recall, is the Al-Qaeda operative who has been indicted for treason -- and who, in a videotape introduced by Ayman al-Zawahri himself, was kind enough to invite me personally, along with a few others, to accept Islam.
Anyway, now some analysts are positing that Gadahn wrote Osama's latest speech. I think it's possible, but no one (in this article at least) seems to have picked up on the fact that Gadahn named Scheuer along with me among the villains, while Osama seems to like him. Perhaps the Revolting Geek's view of Scheuer is...nuanced.

A Californian heavy metal fan, who converted to Islam and became the first American to be charged with treason in half a century, has been fingered as the author of Osama bin Laden's latest video lecture - which left the terror chief sounding like an anti-globalisation protester.The al-Qaeda leader's first video message for three years featured a bizarre rant against America, with references to global warming, "insane taxes", the US mortgage market meltdown and rising interest rates.
American spy chiefs were quick to name Adam Gadahn, the head of al-Qaeda's English language media operations, as the author of large sections of bin Laden's broadcast.
Last October, the 28-year-old "loner" became the first American charged with treason since 1952, for appearing in a succession of al-Qaeda videos under the guise of "Azzam The American", in which he condemned globalisation and made American cultural references.

A former senior US intelligence official said: "It has Adam Gadahn written all over it." Mike Baker, a former CIA covert operations officer, said the tape left bin Laden with "the title of biggest gas bag in the terrorist world".
CIA officials said voice analysis of the tape proved it was definitely bin Laden.
References to the election of Nicolas Sarkozy as French president, Gordon Brown's appointment as prime minister and the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing on August 6 led them to conclude it was filmed as recently as four weeks ago.
President Bush used the release of the tape to reinforce his view that Iraq is the central front in the war on terror.
He said: "I found it interesting that on the tape Iraq was mentioned, which is a reminder that Iraq is a part of this war against extremists.
If al-Qaeda bothers to mention Iraq, it is because they want to achieve their objectives in Iraq, which is to drive us out and to develop a safe haven."

Mohamed el-Sayed, of the Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies in Cairo, said bin Laden's words are proof the West cannot appease al-Qaeda by withdrawing from Iraq. "The message is much more threatening this time," he said. "It uses iconic language that suggests: 'The only way to get peace is to convert to Islam.' He's in a state of constant, unending war until he Islamises the world."...

To me that picture will always say, look I know this book The Truth about Muhammad is written by, dut…duh.duh.duh, Robert Spencer. But if you sprinkle a pinch of fairy dust on it you can convert it from haram to halal just like that. It also works on pork, cd’s, shoes and barbers as well as any other phobias an angry islamist might develop after a hard day’s work of threats and attempted intimidations. So come on islamists, take a pinch, get the book, grab your blanky and curl up by the fire and know that yes you are halal. Hurry though, this cannot last. As far as who wrote obl’s speech, I thought democrat strategist wrote it, it sure sounds like one of them either that or agor who can say for sure.

Has Adam Gadahn changed his mind about Michael "the Caliphate is a neocon invention" Scheur, who was lumped with Steven Emerson, Mr. Spencer and Daniel Pipes as enemies of Islam? I suppose he has. How else can I explain that one line in Bin Laden's speech about Michael Scheur's book.

Ohhhhhh....God I am trying so hard not to talk about Iraq and Bush. Global warming and taxes were also talked about in the tape and are they also now critical parts of this war against Islamic aggression?

Ok my response to this is if Adam the Goat Farmer and his daddy Osama were dead now maybe we would not be getting these silly tapes...huh Georgie? I know they are not the beginning or the ending of Jihad but it would be nice if we could do a "Sherman March" in Western Pakistan instead of wondering around the dunes of Iraq.

Muslim Day parade in New York? Disgusting! Such parades should be forbidden from occuring ANYWHERE within our American borders; and I read that Keith Ellison will be the Grand Marshall at this parade.

Robert - why the disclaimer about Gadahn's favourite book? I wonder if he might come to some harm if you took the disclaimer out and the picture got circulated around the internet a bit. And that wouldn't be a bad thing, would it really?

I didn't have to hear any commentary to figure out that Adam Ghadan wrote all or part of Bin Laden's speech. Seems the old buggerer has taken a shine to the young (one quarter Jewish) lad. The speech was a melange of Cindy Sheehan talking points and Democrat party talking points

It sounds like a recruiting call for the losers of the world to unite. The message is that if you feel in anyway disenfranchised then join Islam and fight your oppressors. It the old marxist idea but repackaged with Islam.
The scary thing is just how many people might buy into that message. There are a lot of people in this country who blame everything but themselves for their own screw-ups and might latch on to that kind of message.
This is a recruiting call for westerners, and I bet we'll see more terrorist attacks carried out by converts in the future.

I find it appalling that Mayor Bloomberg doesn't force the Muslim parade to be in any other month other than September.
Perhaps some longtime NYC residents could enlighten us all as to how true it is that this Muslim parade is an annual NYC event that spans over two decades. Also, has it traditionally taken place in September or is this an intentional swipe at America by trying to soften us up in our stance against Islamism every year this close to the anniversary of the 9-11 attack?
It's madly inappropriate.

I'd rather see this guy brought down, brought in, and executed, even more than I would like to see the same done to bin Laden. But first, I would like to see those pointy little fingers broken, one by one.

Like a lot of other posters, I doubt the legitimacy of this being the 22nd annual parade. It's probably just the 22nd year of a self-proclaimed "Muslim Day".

I agree with Baker, formerly CIA on this one...
it's got the loser adam gadahn's hands, and limited pinheaded mentality (typical of the misanthropic malcontents in the US), written all over the text.
I also agree with the resultant coments...it made OBL out to be the biggest gas-bag in the terrorist world, turning him from losing his ass to even bigger loser of competance.
(I believe commentator Michael Savage was among the first to notice how this speech text echoed some moron like gadahn).
Ya gotta admit, on the lighter side...them coming off like beavis & butthead, anthiony spicoli, and cindy shILLhan combined does have it's advantages.

Adam has a much nicer video camera than bin Laden. If they are together why don't they use the same camera? I have to wonder if the bin Laden tape is really newly made.

Well at least Bin Laden calls a spade a spade! Have to respect that. His language the old Jihad exemplified by the Barbary Coast Ambassador to Jefferson and Adams-We will continue to attack you until you accept Islam and the supremacy of Islam. Or you pay us tribute. I guess the change is because Bin Laden perceives that his side is winning. Thus, he gets more aggressive.
