Charles at LGF has the story, and some video of the appointee, Dr. Esam Omeish.
This is the same Esam Omeish whom I have debated twice on the Laura Ingraham Show. The first time, he denied that Islamic law mandates death for apostasy. The second time, he acknowledged that he'd be happy to see Sharia law come to the US.
Plus, there's this: "Valley delegate challenges Kaine appointee to immigration panel," by Garren Shipley for the Northern Virginia Daily:
A local delegate has asked Democratic Gov. Timothy M. Kaine to re-think his appointment of the head of the Virginia-based Muslim American Society to the Virginia Commission on Immigration.Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, wrote to Kaine earlier today, saying he was concerned about the appointment of Dr. Esam S. Omeish, a Northern Virginia physician and the group's president, to the panel. The commission was created earlier this year to study the impact of illegal immigration on the commonwealth.
The Muslim American Society has significant ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a group founded in Egypt, Gilbert said.
"It is unfortunate that the Governor would choose the leader of an organization such as this to represent many the freedom-loving Muslim citizens of Virginia on this important commission," Gilbert said.
"While the Muslim American Society claims to be the innocent face of peaceful Islam in America, their history and teachings tell a much different story. Unfortunately, it is a story about which all Americans have become much too familiar -- that of the promotion of a global Islamic state. The questionable origin and teachings of this group should give the Governor some serious concerns about his recent appointment. Even though this organization has a savvy public relations machine, the public face that it projects may disguise some very troubling hidden intentions."

There must exist the tapes of the two shows on which Esam Omeish debated Robert Spencer. Those tapes should be supplied to Governor Kaine. He should listen to Esam Omeish denying that apostasy in Islam is punishable by death, and then presented with the passages in Qur'an, Hadith, and the many Muslim commentators that show this to be false, and that Esam Omeish must have known to be false, but assumed he would be debating one more frivolous Infidel, not quite up to the task. He was mistaken.
And the second tape, in which he explains that he would like to see Shari'a imposed in the United States, should also be brought to Governor Kaine's attention. He should be made to understand exactly what, under the Shari'a, happens to non-Muslims. Quote the texts of Islam, quote the commentators on the Qur'an, the jurisconsults, the major figures -- they are all there, they can be easily located.
And then Governor Kaine, who no doubt out of the same ignorance that led Mayor Menino of Boston to support -- as a splendid gesture of "honoring our rich diversity" or some such -- the sale of city land at below-market prices in order that a Saudi-funded mosque could be built in Roxbury, right in the middle of a population targetted for campaigns of Da'wa -- will have to think hard. Is he willing, with this apppointment, to be forever reminded -- and it should never be forgotten -- that he appointed to a state commission someone who sees nothing wrong, who looks forward to, who works towards, the arrival of Shari'a in the United States, which would spell the end of the legal and political institutions of this country, and would, according to the Holy Law of Islam, put all non-Muslims permanently into the condition of dhimmis, that is a condition of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity.
If that is what he thinks would be wise, if that is what he thinks will win him votes, he has another think coming. He has a duty to inform himself. He owes it to those whose governor he is, and whom, therefore, he presumes to know enough to instruct, and protect them. Clearly, at this point, he does not know a thing about the doctrine of Islam, or the practice of Islam over 1350 years. He must learn.

I sat through a few recordings of Esam Omeish's lectures at the November 2006 MAS/ICNA conference. Lots of stuff like "We must create a society that is aligned by the will of Allah and that glorifies the almighty Allah" and "Muslims must be willing to live and die for the sake of Allah." (You first, Bub.)
Omeish's intentions are quite plain that Muslims should strive to have Islam dominate our country. Would Kaine appoint a White Supremacist? Never. So why does he appoint an Islamic Supremacist?

A global Islamic state.....well I don't know how much plainer a nose has to be on ones face to get the jist of this one. Is this another example of the slowly creeping crud that is the dhinnification of so called right thinking people, or just another attempt by Islam to make inroads through our freedoms and socieital (sic) structure? Fear, apathy, illogic, false rationalisations, undirected anger, swamp gas, it is all these things and more that infect the mind and blind the truth from being accepted and discussed by everyone. A poster here a while ago mentioned that maybe now is the time to move to the next level in being more vocal to those who need it most. It was suggested more activism be waged to start a real bulwark against what we know to be the stupidity of those who refuse or ignore the reality of Islam. Since I, for one (of many) can't stand it any more, in order to counter scenarios as that above I am contacting my local community TV station and asking for time on the air. It is public access and here in Oregon it is filled with mostly "hippie" trash, no offense to those hippies here who "get it". I hope to present a balanced and truthful picture of Islam to the local masses, we shall see how it goes over.
If we are to survive we must be as vocal os we can, both here and out there. This has got to stop, and it can if we make it so.

My fellow Americans,
I visited a mosque on a field trip with my son in CA in the spring of 2001. The literature they gave me "Why Islam" proclaims that islam will take over all other beliefs and systems. And they are patient. I thought this odd and a bit uncomfortable but good luck I thought. Perhaps they knew what was around the corner come September and the stage it would set. Maybe not.
We are there fools. Unless we wake up soon the women of our once great land may not need a large closet anymore and the men may get to abandon the Gilette razor and go for some some beard dye and knee pads instead. Could happen.
Before 2001 I didn't know I was an infidel and now I know I am. And always will be!

A question concerning the leftists in the USA: Aren't these people supposed to be FOR the separation of Church and state? SO WHY would they not oppose something like putting a "religious organization" like the Muslim Brotherhood on a government immigration board?? It makes no sense.

Update - Omeish has resigned after Gov. Timothy M. Kaine was told about online videos showing the appointee condemning Israel and advocating "the jihad way."

Thanks to whoever suggested that we write to Gov of Virginia (by the way it is Gov Kaine, not Caine)to argue against his appointment of Omeish
I asked if he had ever read the Qur'an - and then, inferring that he was too busy, I proceeded to quote Surah 8:12 and Surah 9:5. If those two classicly evil commands don't turn his view around, nothing will. Every time I stand up for democracy and against Islam, I am GRATEFUL for our wonderful country. With all its faults USA is still superb, outstanding, best in the world!!!God Bless America!!!!
