"Islam is peace" media campaign in UK

London_Bus_1.jpg
London_Bus_2.jpg

Brian of London over at Shire Network News took these photos, and comments trenchantly, "This is one of the very buses blown up by a devout Muslim 2 years ago. Maybe they should be spending their money convincing devout Muslims it's a Religion of Peace™ rather than me."

"Muslim 'peace' adverts launched," from the BBC (thanks to all who sent this in):

An advertising campaign promoting British Muslims as integrated citizens who reject extremism has been launched.

Islam is Peace - formed after the bombings in London in July 2005 - has initially placed adverts on the capital's buses and Underground trains.

They show a range of Muslims - including a policewoman, a Scout group and the chef Michael Barry - with the slogan "Proud to be a British Muslim".

Organisers say research shows many Britons associate Islam with terrorism.

Nationwide tour

The group insists that the religion demands that its followers live in peace with their neighbours within non-Muslim societies.

But it says it recognises that Muslims have a duty to show that the vast majority of them wish to do so.

[...]

Sadiq Khan MP said: "This is a fantastic initiative. Islam is a faith whose primary focus is peace and submission to one God.

"This campaign will help to bust some of the myths about Islam and allow the true face of Islam to reach all parts of our country."

Secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain Muhammad Abdul Bari said: "The silent majority of Muslims are coming forward and now challenging the islamophobia in sections of our media - it is a brave undertaking."

The campaign is launched as a new law banning incitement to religious hatred comes into force.

...perhaps, the Britons looked around and connected the dots.......95% of the time sensless violence occurs...Muslims are involved....

...wasn't that easy......

Meanwhile, the fire spewing Imams in the Mosques, haven't seen that sign yet.

As exsgtbrown said: "perhaps, the Britons looked around and connected the dots"

That's one heck of a dot collection, growing daily. "War is deception"

Re: "Islam is peace" media campaign in UK

Goebbels (and Hitler) noted that the bigger the lie the more likely it would be believed since the average human being cannot conceive of themselves as lying on such a preposterous and absurd scale. That and positioning one's predatory cause/group as "victim" were two important elements in the propaganda process as per Goebbels. If one looks at Nazi propaganda, one is awed by the audacity of these methods, even to the point of blaming real victim Poland for "aggression" against Nazi Germany in 1939. (The Nazis actually staged a mock attack by Nazis dressed as Polish soldiers against a German radio station in August 1939 ("Operation Canned Goods") as part of the justification for the attack on Poland.)

It is useless to argue logically against propagandists, but it is useful to point out the propaganda process to people. If enough people see the process the argument against the lie will be won. We live in an Age of Propaganda where the perception of reality is often manipulated by propaganda workers-advertisers. Many Muslims are well aware of the Goebbels propaganda methods in everything from "islamophobia-propaganda" to Mickey-Mouse-Farfur-style-propaganda to "Islam is peace" propaganda.

We live in the Age of Propaganda.

meanwhile true religions of peace such as buddhisim and hinduisim are ignored in these peace campaigns, maybe if they had only bombed and killed wantonly like their muslim brothers?

Posted by: desidude [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 1, 2007 8:57 AM

Now why would anyone associate Islam with terror? What are you going to believe? Muslim words or your lying eyes? The religion of buffonery.

Posted by: Rick [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 1, 2007 8:58 AM

This is the peace Islam brings to London buses.

The ad banner states "Proud to be a British Muslim"

Such pride draws my utter disgust and determination to expose/destroy the lie of their brand of 'peace'. 7/7 NEVER FORGET!

To accept this banner on these busses is beyond insulting.

Webster's Pocket Dictionary:

fantastic: existing only in the fancy; wildly fanciful or exaggerated; impulsive or capricious; coming from the imagination; unreal. Slang: Superb; wonderful.

The folks in charge of Homeland Security and intelligence generally have to pay a lot more attention to Propaganda Jihad. I detect organization here and a well educated propaganda work force. I would not be surprised if some are embedded in non-Muslim media. Further, Jihad sites should be under constant attack-precisely in the manner they have attempted against non-Muslin sites. The war in cyberspace and the propaganda war generally are where this conflict will be won or lost.

Very, very brave indeed.

I wasn't buying it anyway, but it does take some skill to screw up this ad campaign by insulting the intelligence of its target audience: How can an unsubstantiated claim "challenge" anything?

@ ROBERT:

Karen Armstrong was on BBC Radio 4 this morning, 9.am-9.30am.

She made theological comments that the other guests simply didn't know how to respond to.

So they remained silent. Not a peep.

Because no one else could refute or criticise them it gave the impression that what she said was true: Religion of Peace, Koran less violent than the bible, etc.

Is she correct?

Soon there will be "Koranic Verses" also on the London Buses . And rest of the Europe will also follow suit at this "successful and pious experiment" . These buses will be "Mobile Korans" showing the pathway to the 'infidels'. Nobody dare to insult or do any 'damage' to these buses. These are 'pure' and 'sacred' buses.

Visitors to this site should note that a demonstration against Sharia-creep will be taking place in London on Friday 26th of this month.

When are we going to see similar demonstrations in the US?

Karen Armstrong is a fraud. She once called Muhammad "the consummate peacemaker". That's like saying that Michael Corleone was the consummate peacemaker when he had all the other Mafia families killed in the Godfather while Corleone was in church ("Do you renounce Satan and all his works"? the priest asked. Remember?)

"The group insists that the religion demands that its followers live in peace with their neighbours within non-Muslim societies."

What about in Muslims societies? What will happen when/if they become the majority?

One of the many good things Jihadwatch has taught me is how to screen the lies and the deception in this sort of news... Even the apparently most innocent messages seem to have something hidden, something for Muslims to understand, and something for the unsuspecting to overlook. It is very alarming.

UK: Muslim ‘Peace’-Propaganda Effort To Muzzle Public Debate

Another steaming pile of taqiyya from the MCB

http://sheikyermami.com/2007/10/01/uk-muslim-peace-adverts-to-muzzle-public-debate/

Nothing but BS and da'awa.

“This campaign will help to bust some of the myths about Islam and allow the true face of Islam to reach all parts of our country.”

* Which is the myth and which is the true Islam?

The campaign is launched as a new law banning incitement to religious hatred comes into force.

* There you go. A law preparing the ground for the Islamization of Britain, designed to muzzle the indigenous Brits and to stifle debate…

"The silent majority of Muslims are coming forward and now challenging the islamophobia in sections of our media - it is a brave undertaking."

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!

It is a COWARDLY undertaking, because again you put the onus on US to understand YOU. While Islam displays ZERO tolerance, it demands of its host countries a near suicidal level of tolerance in return. And then it has the audacity to tell us that it is actually OUR problem to begin with???

Every day Islam makes a new declaration of war, and we dutifully post it in bold type across our newspapers as though it was a nice gesture. As Jack Nicholson's character said in "As Good as it Gets":

"I'm DROWNING here, and you're describing the water!"

Islam among all of its other MAJOR shortcomings is also utterly devoid of any ability toward self-analysis. How else can one explain a culture which has ad hoc taken the entire world hostage, having us spend hundreds of billions a year so we can simply travel with a modicum of security, and which has authored 10,000 religious-based acts of violence and terror just in the past six years?

Deception is a cornerstone of Islam. When it says to look West...look EAST!

Islam is Peace? No, Islam is War.

Somewhere Joseph Goebbels is pissing himself with laughter.

Secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain Muhammad Abdul Bari said: "The silent majority of Muslims are coming forward and now challenging the islamophobia in sections of our media - it is a brave undertaking."

***

Ah, yes, behold the brave Muslims (backed by their billions of petrodollars, or perhaps, petropounds in this case) standing up to those deadly reporters and their poison pens.

I am way too young to feel this old. Back in my day, kiddies, bravery was applied to acts requiring personal risk and sacrifice. Things like, you know, a fireman going into a burning skyscraper (after it had been attacked by peaceful religious men) or a soldier rescuing a civilian under fire or even a writer printing uncomfortable truths about a peaceful religion despite death threats. Back in those days, we'd have considered bravery to be something like Muslims ferreting out the not-so-peaceful misunderstanders in their midst or dismissing imams who agitate and promote misunderstanding.

Ah, bravery. It has been reduced to a billboard.

Sheik yer'mami references a very revealing article on this subject (not sure if it was discussed on JW but it deserves a second look).

Lest anyone be cowed by the smooth-talking "Islamic Leaders" that represent CAIR and the like. These guys are merely the Best Liars just like OBL is the Best Terrorist. All doing their part for Jihad.

In their own words...get this:

FROM INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY
9/28/07

The Islamists Head Fake
It's now believed that several leaders of the Muslim establishment in America last decade conspired to infiltrate the U.S. political system, change Middle East policy and gradually Islamize America. At the same time, they hatched a plot to fund overseas terrorists.
Of course, they couldn't do this out in the open. So they set up benign-sounding nonprofits and charities to "camouflage" their traitorous activities, say U.S. prosecutors who cite wiretap transcripts and other documents uncovered in a criminal probe of the Holy Land Foundation, the largest Muslim charity in America.
During a secret meeting at a Philadelphia hotel, the charity's president and other prominent Muslim leaders were recorded allegedly plotting ways to disguise payments to Hamas terrorists as charity.
"I swear by Allah that war is deception," said Shukri Abu-Baker, now on trial in the federal terror-funding case. "We are fighting our enemy with a kind heart. . . . Deceive, camouflage, pretend that you're leaving while you're walking that way. Deceive your enemy."
Another participant at the Hamas summit was the founder of the Council on American Islamic-Relations, or CAIR, the largest Muslim civil-rights group in the country and an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror-funding case.
Adding to Abu-Baker's point, Omar Ahmad compared the deception needed to fool the infidels with the head fake in basketball. "He makes a player believe that he is doing this while he does something else," Ahmad said. "I agree with you. . . . Politics is a completion of war."
The Islamist head fake has worked all too well over the past decade. Blind acceptance and validation of Muslim leaders with questionable loyalties hardly missed a beat in Washington even after 9/11.
Many were invited to the White House and Congress. The head of the FBI spoke at their conferences, calling them "mainstream" and "moderate." Many naive officials still confer legitimacy on them.
But what Muslim leaders tell us and what they tell Muslim audiences are often two entirely different things. The deception is astonishing. They've really played us for suckers.
Here are just a few examples:
Sami Al-Arian: The popular and respected Muslim activist was a White House guest of both presidents Clinton and Bush. He assured his hosts he was both peace-loving and patriotic. "I am a very moderate Muslim person," he said. "I also condemn violence in all its forms."
All the while, Al-Arian was secretly running a U.S. beachhead for Palestinian terrorists. In a speech at a Cleveland mosque, he once thundered: "Let's damn America, let's damn Israel, let's damn their allies until death."
He's now a convicted terrorist.
Abdurahman Alamoudi: This pillar of the Muslim community also went from the White House to the Big House. But not before developing the Pentagon's Muslim chaplain corps, and acting as a goodwill ambassador for the State Department.
He, too, strongly denounced terror. "We are against all forms of terrorism," he claimed. "Our religion is against terrorism."
Privately, however, he raised major funds for al-Qaida and was caught on tape grumbling that Osama bin Laden hadn't killed enough Americans in the U.S. embassy bombings.
Also, at a Muslim conference, he was recorded saying the following:
"Muslims sooner or later will be the moral leadership of America. It depends on me and you. Either we do it now or we do it after a hundred years, but this country will become a Muslim country. And I think if we are outside this country, we can say, 'Oh, Allah, destroy America.' But once we are here, our mission in this country is to change it."
Ali Al-Timimi: A noted imam and native Washingtonian, he also put on a moderate face in public while secretly plotting against us. The internationally known Muslim scholar had government clearance — even worked with a former White House chief of staff — and was invited to speak on Islam to the U.S. military.
Publicly, the imam denounced Islamic violence. "My position against terrorism and Muslim-inspired violence against innocent people is well known by Muslims," he said.
But privately, a darker picture emerged. Five days after the 9/11 attacks, he called them "legitimate" and rallied young Muslim men at his mosque to carry out more "holy war" and "violent jihad."
Al-Timimi even cheered the Columbia space shuttle disaster, calling it a "good omen" for Muslims because it was a blow to their "greatest enemy." He also said the U.S. "should be destroyed."
This high-profile moderate is also now behind bars, for soliciting terror and treason.
What other Muslim leaders are betraying our trust? Who else is "camouflaging" their radical beliefs and agenda with smiles and soft rhetoric?
To reach out to the Muslim community, we must deal with its leaders. But based on their proven track record of dissembling, we can no longer go on blindly trusting them.

BTW,

I am starting a local chapter of ACT, Brigitte Gabriel's American Congress for Truth, which will be an educational forum for Americans to really learn about Islam.

Using books by Robert, Mark Steyn, Hirsi Ali, et al and videos (Islam - What the West Needs to Know) I am going to try to bring awareness and educate people so that they can spread the word and effectively counter the propaganda they hear.

It's going to be a small group, starting with some other women in my church, but we hope that we can at least prevent Islam from growing in our neck of the woods on a grass roots level.

So if anyone is wondering what they can do, perhaps they could start by educating!

For your nifty T-shirt idea:

London 7/6/04, should be "7/7/05", and "7/21/04" should be "05".

The bus-side slogans tell us nothing. A website name -- "Islam Is Peace" as in www.islamispeace.org, means nothing. It tells us nothing about a brand-new Muslim movement to deny the literal meaning of hundreds of passages in what is taken to be the literal Word of God. A website named www.islamispeace.org does nothing to change the wording in the hadiths to be found in Bukhari and Muslim, each more dangerous for Infidels than the last. A website with the name www.islamispeace.org implies nothing about whether or not Muslims will continue to regard Muhammad as the Model of Conduct, uswa hasana, the Perfect Man, al-insan al-kamil, and in modelling themselves on him, will recall his life as a military leader who took part in 78 campaigns, 77 of them offensive, and who will remember his approving of the decapitation of the bound and helpless prisoners of the Banu Qurayza, his attack on the inoffensive Jewish farmers, in his raid, undertaken for loot and for women, on the Khaybar Oasis, the pleasure he took in hearing of how his followers assassinated Asma bint Marwan, a woman who had mocked him, and Abu Akaf, a poet whose verses offended him. And will Muslims publicly denounce the use of the Treaty of Al-Hudaibiyya as the basis for all Muslim treaties with non-Muslims? Will they denounce, publicly, and apologize for, in the manner of Western countries apologizing for this and for that, for the 60-70 million Hindus who were murdered? For driving the Jews into exile, where so many of them suffered, and for 1300 years did not have a political entity of their own to guarantee some minimum physical protection? To the Buddhists, for helping to drive Buddhism out of India, and destroying so many Buddhist statues and stupas, over more than a millennium, throughout Asia? To the Christians, for taking over huge territories, in the Middle East and North Africa, once Christian, and managing over time to slowly squeeze out, by killing, by persecution, by the dhimmi system itself, so many of those Christians, or managing to force so many to convert to Islam in order to escape, in the only way they then could, the status of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity that the dhimmi condition entailed?

Only when this kind of thing is done, and not the ad campaign worthy of a cigarette company, and not even a cigarette company today, but the kind that back in the 1930s could advertise a smoke as being "smooth" and "good for the throat," will Infidels begin to let up on their examination and critical scrutiny of Islam, which so far has gotten off nearly scot-free, but -- and only because of the behavior of Muslims themselves, and despite the effort of Western elites to defend and protect Islam at every turn -- will do so no longer.

Indeed, the transparency and clumsiness of this ad campaign, and the obvious suspicion that its costs are being met by rich Arabs, merely will heighten suspicions and also be subject to silent, or perhaps open, ridicule.

It's a good sign, however, that organized Muslims feel they must engage in this. It's a sign that they feel under pressure, that they somehow have to turn off the tap of information and intelligent attention by Infidels. But those Infidels will start reading, with greater and greater understanding, the Qur'an and the Hadith. And they wil begin to make sense of what they read. They will realize that Islma inculcates a permanent state of war that must exist between Believers and Infidels, between Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb. They will begin to realize that Jihad to spread Islam, by any means available, is a living doctrine, and one that fell into desuetude not because of any change in either doctrine or Muslim understanding of that doctrine, but because of perceived Muslim weakness until the OPEC trillions came along to make those Muslims rich, able to buy weapons, and Western hirelings, and also to support a vast propaganda effort on behalf of Islam to supplement campaigns of Da'wa all over the advanced West, which, as it happens, was also successfully penetrated by millions of Muslim immigrants -- including those who now live in Great Britain, and ride those busses, and smile as they look at those advertisements, and think to themselves, if only we can keep the Infidels unwary for just another decade, or two, if only, if only...

"The first is to 'fight' islamophobia, to 'monitor' and 'fight' islamophobia wherever it occurs" they say.

Not to fight the jihadists and correct them in their misunderstanding of this mythical peaceful islam they claim exists!

Additionally the timing of this campaign launch is the same day as the new law banning the incitement to religious hatred comes in to effect, which I feel will be used not against the preachers of hate but against those who question Islam.

This is government approved propaganda, go back to sleep all is well, nothing to see here islam is peace!

Doublethink

Main article: Doublethink

The keyword here is blackwhite. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary. This demands a continuous alteration of the past, made possible by the system of thought which really embraces all the rest, and which is known in Newspeak as doublethink. Doublethink is basically the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.

"The group insists that the religion demands that its followers live in peace with their neighbours within non-Muslim societies."

As noted above, that is only true until 'the Muslims' are strong enough, as a whole, to overcome (through a variety of means) any foolish resistance. Of course the reporter does not challenge the assertion or ask for specific references which might validate it.

And as noted above, the group does not address how the 'religion' expects its followers to treat non-Muslims within true Muslim countries today, and those that will 'accept' Islam in the future.

"Islam is a faith whose primary focus is peace . . ."

could have fooled me ...

".... allow the true face of Islam to reach all parts of our country"

well that would leave the UK a barren death-land w/ a 100% muslim population sleeping in caves

WHEN WILL THE SANE WORLD WAKE THE F**K UP ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ! ! ! ! !

Once again, though I do not approve of vandalism as a rule, this is one form of propaganda that just begs to be defaced.

But how to do it effectively? The propagandists were very clever in choosing to use a picture of an innocent young boy. (No doubt they have a little Muslim girl version, too). No person of good taste or conscience will want to deface a picture of a child. So I say, cover the whole picture up. Paste it over (make sure you use super-adhesive glue) with a big full-color blow-up of the London bus blown up by members of the religion of peace two years ago. Or, if you can stomach it, one or more of the mangled victims of the bus or subway bombs. I think it can be done. Show your spirit, London. And BTW, I'm sure that photoshopping this online would be dead easy; probably it's already been done even as I speak.

The campaign is launched as a new law banning incitement to religious hatred comes into force.

I would suggest countering this bull from the Islamic establishment with a similar campaign. Posters on public transport would say nothing hateful or derogatory about Islam, they would only display direct quotes from the Koran and Hadieth concerning Islamic attitudes towards Christians and Jews. That way no one can accuse anyone of inciting to religious hatred toward Muslims.

If Muslims complain that the quotes are lifted out of context, let them go to court and explain the context.

If courts rule in favor of the Muslims, it would only go to show that hate crime laws are not intended to combat hate at all. They are intended to protect the hate of some groups, and punish the hate of others. In short, they are intended to be selectively enforced.

ISLAM IS PIECE - A Body Piece Here, A Body Piece There.

The peace of Islam is the peace of a slave under a sword.

Robert’s response with his own five-point plan to end “Islamaphobia” is just brilliant.
Where are the organizations to mount a counter campaign to advertise for just such a five-point plan?

Odd that this Muslim champagne specifically calls for “friendship” between Muslims and non-Muslims, since this is expressly forbidden in the Koran.

Islam translates to "submission", not "peace"

They will achieve peace through getting everyone to submit.

That is their stated goal.

If you don't submit, they will kill you, the Koran tells them to do so.

Why do they need to advertise this? when ever you hear a muslim speak to or at you thats all they can say right before the bombs go off.

Why not advertise on all those camels huffing around in the land of islam? Is the House of saud or the Iranian monkey man planning any "remember islam is peace" advertising?

Or maybe they can advertise that christians are peaceful too.....and jews.....and hindus.....and buddhists. Did i forget anybody?

Oh i get it these ads must be for Bush and Blair and all the rest who planned and carried out all those bombings. You know those inside job evil doers.

....."islam is peace"?? i have a doubt on that line. to the contrary they have been tested and observed to have not achieved that aspiration.

...to an individual muslim who has not been corrupted by a radical idea or person maybe i would believe.

....there is in us, in every person to long for peace and not to kill each other or an innocent individual.
