MOGADISHU, Oct 9, 2007 (AFP) - A key Somali Islamist leader on Tuesday called for jihad, or holy war, vowing that a bloody insurgency against the Ethiopian-backed government in Mogadishu would end only with the return of Islamic law."Our mission is clear. What we want is to free our country from Christian colonisers -- by this I mean Ethiopia," said Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, a radical Islamist leader who recently resurfaced in the Somali capital.
"At this point, jihad is all we need. There is no political process we can be involved in unless we get a government practicing Sharia (Islamic law)," the militant leader told AFP by phone.
Sheikh Mukhtar -- also known as Abu Mansur since he trained in Afghanistan and fought alongside the Taliban there in the early 2000's -- presented himself as "a spokesman for the Islamic movement" in Mogadishu.
"Our aim is to liberate our country from the Christian invaders and those who assist them, and I assure you that the holy war against them will not stop until the Islamic flag is raised," he added.

This is a warning to us all, as their goal is to raise the Islamic flag in every country across the world.

I suppose it's too much to hope for, for him to request his fellow somalis in the UK to return and help his cause?
80% of them are unemployed, so I doubt they'll be missed.

Colonisers? I don't think that the Ethiopians want to be there any longer than is actually necessary. Colonising Somalia would be like stealing a car without wheels. It's not impossible but why would you do it?

considering how these immigrants as a group to act towards society that they have taken residence in send them back as an immigrant myself I dislike the bad name they have given all immigrants

...oh he is just angry that he cannot disrupt anyones day by demanding footbaths....it seems his entire country is Muslim and they don-t have footbaths everywhere and they don't care.......

I would like an opinion on this poam I just wrote I got to thinking now remembrance day is less than a month off of how many wars have been fought in Europe over the last 1500 years and I tried to address this
is the 11th day of the 11th hour of the 11th month
many years ago the guns fell silent on the Western front
in Flanders fields the wind still blows the poppies between the crosses
row on row that Mark the places where our fallen warriors sleep
larks that could barely be heard above the roar of the guns
now sing their voices heard clearly now that the guns
are silent
at the cenotaph the sound of a lone piper playing a lament
were the fallen can be heard and the sound of taps and the last post
ring through the air honoring our dead !
This was called the great war the war to end all wars
fought on battlefields centurys old and the dead
lay long forgotten in unmarked graves
wars fought over religion and asainst the hourds of Mohamed
this land is soaked in blood and the war against the hordes of Mohamed
goes on! Turned back at the gates of Vienna and still their jihad goes on
fueled by oil money and a fundamentalist sect from Saudi Arabia
and the belief that their beliefs are the correct ones and must be supreme
over all other religions
war of all kinds must end
so no more we will hear the sound of the pipes leading us into battle
or crying laments as we play a fallen warrior home one who died
that all might live in freedom whether Muslim jew , hindu or Christian
and all live in peace and remember all the fallen warriors that died for what they believe
