Seven GW students admit to hanging controversial posters

Of course, it was all about pointing out "Islamophobia." That is, it was all about smearing those who dare to point out the oppression under which people suffer at the hands of the true believers in Sharia.

"Seven GW students admit to hanging controversial posters," by Eric Roper for the GW Hatchet, a George Washington University student paper:

A group of seven GW students sent an e-mail to The Hatchet late Tuesday night admitting to hanging hundreds of controversial posters around campus early Monday morning.

The students - Adam Kokesh, freshman Yong Kwon, senior Brian Tierney, freshman Ned Goodwin, Maxine Nwigwe, Lara Masri and Amal Rammah - said their motives were misinterpreted. Students for Conservativo-Facism Awareness hung the posters in opposition to Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, an event being held beginning Oct. 22.

Kokesh, a graduate student and Iraq War veteran, gained celebrity over the past year because of his vocal opposition to the war. Nwigwe and Rammah are also graduate students.

"It is to our great dismay that the student body and the media missed the clear, if subtle, message of our flier: the hyperbolic nature of the flier was aimed at exposing Islamophobic racism," the e-mail said.

Posters hung around campus read, "Hate Muslims? So do we!!!"

Kokesh, Kwon, Tierney, Goodwin, Nwigwe, Masri and Rammah could have more accurately written of themselves: "Hate human rights? So do we! Hate those who defend women who've been beaten and mutilated? So do we! Hate those who stand up for Christians who've been murdered for running a liquor store or selling Bibles? So do we!"

UPDATE:
GWU administrators are responding to the fake posters by cracking down on...the YAF, which had nothing to do with them. Story at LGF.

Ya know, there were an immense amount of Iranian students at "G Dub" in the late '70's. Then, WHAM! they magically disappeared when "college students" overran the U.S. Embassy, in Tehran. The GDub students were "recalled" by Khomeni. Anyone remember the Mickey Mouse t-shirt that said, "Hey Iran!" with Mickey giving the single finger salute?
"Hey Islamofascists!..."

Of course! When you are a leftist under threat from anyone, whine about "racism" and claim to be a victim. Never, never, allow public discourse which may be critical of you, your actions, or your organization. Move as quickly as possible to directly or obliquely attack the other guy.

And now we see that the administration at GWU is calling on the organizers and YAF to recant! I kid you not. One of the members of the Student Advisory Council, which regulates student activities on campus, has called on YAF to, "renounce hate speech at its activities." Not word one, mind you, on that Koresh and his buddies nor any request to them to put a cork in it. Nah, what they did is just fine.

'"It is to our great dismay that the student body and the media missed the clear, if subtle, message of our flier: the hyperbolic nature of the flier was aimed at exposing Islamophobic racism," the e-mail said'

....instead of "exposing Islamophobic racism", these moonbats promoted racism.....perhaps they should do some footwork and learn about Islam, then they may see why so many people are concerned about Islam....they should learn about what is in the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Sira....perhaps they should study those who are following these texts in the strictist sense...they may just discover that "Islamophobic racism", if there is such a thing has its roots in the actions initiated by Islam and not by the reactions of those who are attacked by Islam....

.....it is clear these students have been educated in government schools....you know the ones where prayer has been banned, the pledge of allegiance to flag has been banned, the flying of the American flag has been banned, the display of the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights has been banned and in which moonbat teachers expose on diversity and multi culturism....and in many of these schools footbaths are now being installed, students are forced to learn Arabic phrases, participate is such activities as dress like a Muslim day, eat Muslim food day; the students are forced to learn selected Qur'anic phrases, learn about the history of Islam in a moronic soft sell program; the schools are forced to provide prayer time to both students and Muslim teachers and the schools allow Muslim students and teachers to have their own dress code....

The American students are being subjected to an Islamic political indoctrination and no one says anything.....

...perhaps the students are not to be blamed, perhaps it is the governments failure to teach the children the old ways and the old values that is to be blamed, perhaps the children have grown up with too much freedom and/or poor upbringing by their parents (quite possibly anti-freedom moonbats themselves)....

...sometimes the old ways are better....

as Bob sang..."the times..they are a'changin..."

From yesterday's thread at LGF:

The Young America’s Foundation has posted some information on the phony “anti-Muslim” posters distributed at George Washington University, and you’re not going to believe the university administration’s response to this outrage: Radicals at The George Washington University Fake Young America’s Foundation Event to Suggest Incident of Hate.
Bridgette Behling, the assistant director of the Student Activities Center at GWU, wrote an email to one of the conservative students urging them to disavow hate speech that may originate from any future Foundation events: “due to the inflammatory nature of today’s events [falsified posters], as a good faith effort on behalf of YAF, it is important that YAF drafts a statement which states that you will not allow hate speech to be a part of any of YAF’s events, literature, written or verbal communication planned for Islamofacism Week. This statement should also include your plan for preventing these things from happening as well as the consequences for these things happening. It is important that we have this document should any further incidents occur as we move forward.”

These posts are great in that they clearly identify 'who' is involved and to what capacity they yield campus influence on the free exchange of ideas.

In a later update, also posted above in this thread, we learn these seven students,

Adam Kokesh,
freshman Yong Kwon,
senior Brian Tierney,
freshman Ned Goodwin,
Maxine Nwigwe,
Lara Masri and
Amal Rammah

belong to, &/or act on behalf of another campus sanctioned group:

Students for Conservativo-Facism Awareness hung the posters in opposition to Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, an event being held beginning Oct. 22.

Has Bridgette Behling, the assistant director of the Student Activities Center at GWU, written the same cautionary e-mail to Students for Conservativo-Facism Awareness?

If not, why not? Inquiring minds would really like to know where the line in the sand lies when it comes to free exchange of ideas.

You see, as a parent carrying the full costs of tuition for a grad student at GWU, I have a horse in this race. And the university's response to this 'incident' will have clear implication$.

"Kokesh, a graduate student and Iraq War veteran..."

Wonder what side he fought on?

That email from Bridgette Behling sounds like clear intimidation. I hope the YAF has good legal advice and knows what it is and is not required to do.

Simultaneous bombings and/or hijackings are a hallmark of al Queda.... is that who they got the idea to make these flyers appear all at once?

Posted by: Goob [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2007 8:41 AM

I wonder what would happen if a group of students dug out of a library, somewhere, the complete text of the John Quincy Adams essays on Turkey, the Greek rebellion against the Turks, the pernicious character of Islam, etc. - those essays recently rediscovered by Andrew Bostom - and read the whole lot publicly aloud?

Would THAT be classified as 'hate speech'?

The trick would be to read them - most people would not recognise the writer - and then, when the storm blew up, sweetly explain who the writer was, and when, and that it was THE John Quincy Adams otherwise known for courageous and unflinching opposition to the institution of slavery.

So typical of gwu and its ilk...granting victimhood to the perps...
...the very flower of wacko-demia.

I think it's time to send letters/email regularly to these people in seats of power and influence in the circles of higher education..or in reality.. circles of higher propaganda ....expressing profound dissatisfaction with their methods and intent which are so transparent.. are they really such narcissistic bullies who think no one can see through what is truly going on.

If any of the GWU admin staff is checking out Jihadwatch, please note that islam is not a race, but rather a religion. Slaves of allah come from all ethnic groups and in all hues.

Greetings:

Back in the joy of my youth, I was exposed to the first two rules of interrogation: 1) get them talking, and 2) keep them talking. Or, in the case of Mr. Adam Kokesh, emailing.

"It is to our great dismay that the student body and the media missed the clear, if subtle, message of our flier: the hyperbolic nature of the flier was aimed at exposing Islamophobic racism," the e-mail said."

Now, when I was learning my English, "clear" and "subtle" were somewhat antithetical. "Subtle" was less than or other than "clear". But, I guess Mr. Kokesh's graduate studies have not yet progessed to that point of elucidation.

Similarly, Mr Kokesh again re-iterates the semantic manipulation of connecting "Islamophobia" and "racism". This seems to be a new mantra.

I would give these "students" a ticket to the entire event, and make sure they miss nothing, nothing at all.

The YAF, in addition to sponsoring the event, ought to bring in a speaker as well now that they've gotten so much press the last several days.

Robert? Hugh? Greg? Anyone available on the 22nd?

Posted by: eve_anne_gelical [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2007 2:07 PM

The YAF should consider taking legal action for defamation against the authors of that flier. The information on who published it should have been printed clearly on the front of the thing.

Whats satirical about "Hate Muslims? So do we????

I thought it was a petition and it was yanked from the wall before i could sign it.

Now thats satire.

I don't think these freaks understand how pathetic they are and not to mention how they discredit themselves every time they blurt out "you are being racist, islamophobic and biggoted."

Start wearing them down with "you are an anti racist racist,an anti islamophobe freedomphobe,an anti bigot bigot. Be the mirror to thier true face. It's the only way to make them look within.

It's always a thrill as well to point out the failures of the perfect people following the failures of the perfect religion.

Irony thy name is Islam.

You want satire? Islam is a religion of peace and i believe that. Thats satire chumps. It sure as hell isn't aint not no petition neither acause i isn't stewped. :)
