Vice principal of Hyderabad college criticizes Islam; protests, stone-throwing ensue

Freedom of expression and hair-trigger self-righteous outrage do not mix. Western campuses that value the former concept should take note. "Hyd teacher's anti-Islam remarks sparks debate," from IBNLive:

Hyderabad: There was unrest in the streets of Hyderabad on Wednesday after a college teacher allegedly made anti-Islamic remarks.
The students of Narayana College protested against the remarks made by their Vice Principal, Naresh Reddy.
“The Vice principal said that Islam is useless also that 25 per cent of Islam is useless. He spoke against Islam. He cannot say anything religious. This is the second time he has said this,” says a student, Narayana College, Shahabuddin.
Police say Reddy made the comments while pulling up two students for coming late to college after offering namaz.
The angry students reacted by pelting stones at the college And local Islamic groups were quick to step in support of the students.
“Their job is to teach, why are they speaking against Islam. We do not compromise with people who speak against Islam,” says MIM leader, Afsar Khan.
The protestors even forced shopkeepers in the area to down shutters. A battalion of the Rapid Action Force had to be deployed and normalcy was restored only after the college management suspended vice principal Reddy.
This is the second incident when a teacher has landed in trouble for making alleged remarks on Islam.
The government has chosen to maintain a stoic silence at least till the festive season is over, but what is troubling is the ease with which students are agitated and choose to go on a rampage.

It sure is, isn't it?

They seem to be the ones calling the shots in classrooms.

Isn't there a law against organizing a riot? These two "students" need to bee expelled and tried.

I bet he didn't even say this. I think it's payback time because the teacher told them off for being late.

All of this so much reminds me of the elite "Slaveocracy" (as John Q. Adams called it)of the Old South in the years leading up to the Civil War. They wanted no criticism of their beliefs, demanded "respect" for their "peculiar institution" and "culture"-even to the point of instituting "gag rules" (which John Q. bravely fought) in Congress and elsewhere (particularly schools).

As James Russel Lowell pointed out at the time, the very thoughts of critics was offensive to them. Any criticism of them was greeted with rage and accusations of diviseness and fomenting hate. This is so with many Muslims in our time. This kind of demand for uncritical submission to beliefs requires a psychiatrist because it will result in threats, intimidation and violence to critics.

If John Quincy Adams were alive today he would understand the situation of Robert Spencer and other critics of Muslim dogma. He would tell them that they must not submit to any "gag rules".

Evil hates to be criticized. Evil wants to continue to live in darkness. The light of truth is odious to evil, so it responds with rage. Evil wants to silence the truth more than anything else.

The Slaves of Allah cannot tolerate either criticism or truth, Islam in a nutshell.

Well, of course this is not a new topic to talk about. India is a country where multiple religions exists. Where the the literacy rate is below 40% and communal violence is always high. This is nothing new to me. I have been there and seen how few people are totally against the minorities (muslims and christians, etc). Especially in colleges like narayana where a student is drilled from morning 5AM to evening 7PM in hope of making him/her get good grades, increasing college reputation (very competitive market) and increasing revenues in applications and fees. They cannot bare to see a student miss a class even if it is for the sake of religion, life or death.

I wonder what would of happened if I told my instructors how to teach me? I'm sorry I want you to tell me the world is flat....

This poor guy has also lost a chance to ever further his career to the ivy league!

Greetings:

Maybe we can arrange an exchange program with the guy from Columbia University.

The Libs say that Islamists are only opposed to "Western" culture. I don't think India or the Hindu religion are considered "Western".

Sounds like they were receiving some good education to me. Glad to hear someone speaking the truth about Islam.... the students would be wise to listen to him.

Could we get this guy to teach here in America?

Posted by: DownWithIslam [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 11, 2007 2:30 PM

Maybe tenure is a totally different situation in India. If you can survive a couple of "student" riots, you can teach in the university.

Well, looks like yet another one with a price on his head (though the islamolackeys will do it for free)...just more of the same old same old...

"death to all who oppose us!"

"We do not compromise with people who speak against Islam."

And I do not compromise with those who speak for it.

That's the future in two sentences.

The police have registered a case against Mr. Reddy for "spreading communal discord" among communities. The complaint was lodged by an association of some imams. Mr. Reddy, who left Hyderabad for his home town post his suspension is now being actively sought by the police. I fear that his academic career is finished and I also fear for his life. At least one mosque has put a fatwa on his head.

Over here in my city there were riots the day before yesterday in an area near a muslim neighbourhood. muslims offering ramadan namaz in a mosque were offended that Infidels were passing outside and started throwing stones from inside. They must have had truckfuls of stones in that place because the road outside was completely covered with debris for several hundred metres every way. Seven Infidels were admitted to the hospital and are, according to the MSM "in a critical state". Yesterday they tried this again, but the mob was dispursed by water cannons. ramadan continues peacefully in my city.

muslims were making a bomb in this sufi shrine when it went off, killing two and injuring some others. But we are going to hear stuff like this -

"Terror hits Ajmer Sharif dargah; 2 dead, 17 injured"

http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/StoryPage.aspx?id=8637e072-00ad-40a7-866c-021f2e0752bf&ParentID=7a5377a7-df5c-4b97-91b5-ad2b640ffa4d&MatchID1=4578&TeamID1=7&TeamID2=3&MatchType1=1&SeriesID1=1148&PrimaryID=4578&Headline=Terror+hits+Ajmer+Sharif+dargah%3b+2+dead%2c+17+injured

The sufis are supposed to be "moderate" muslims. Or so somebody was telling me last year, I think on JW itself. Reckon they must be moderate, since the bomb killed only two. The one that went off in mecca masjid earlier this year killed 10 believers. Okay, so they are moderate.

This just came in. It seems some "pilgrims" from bangladesh, that beautiful islamic paradise, were behind the Ajmer blast. No problems folks, just pilgrims going about their business, er, pilgrimage.

England is doomed. They've abandoned their right to self-defense and are now under seige by barbarians they themselves let in.

If we don't want it to happen here we need to STOP IT NOW! In 15-20 years (maybe far less) it will be too late.

Write your Congressman. Get this proposal passed!
Ban this "religion" of HATE in the US now.

A Proposed Constitutional Amendment
Background and justification to Amendment 28

Whereas Religion is defined as an institution dedicated to improving social conscience and promoting individual and societal spiritual growth in a way that is harmless to others not participating in or practicing the same;

Whereas the United States of America was founded on the ideals of individual rights, including the individual right to practice one’s religion of choice, or no religion, and that there would be no compulsion of religion, nor state sanctioned religion, nor a “religious test” for participation in the body politic;

Whereas Islam includes a complete political and social structure, encompassed by its religious law, Sharia, that supersedes any civil law and that Islam mandates that no secular or democratic institutions are to be superior to Islamic law;

Whereas Islam preaches that it and it alone is the true religion and that Islam will dominate the world and supplant all other religions and democratic institutions;

Whereas Saudi Arabia, the spiritual home of Islam does not permit the practice of any other religion on its soil and even “moderate” Muslims states such as Turkey and Malaysia actively suppress other religions;

Whereas Islam includes as its basic tenet the spread of the faith by any and all means necessary, including violent conquest of non-believers, and demands of its followers that they implement violent jihad (holy war) against those un-willing to convert or submit to Islam, including by deception and subversion of existing institutions;

Whereas on 9/11/2001 19 Muslim hijackers acting in the name of Islam killed 3,000 Americans, and numerous other acts of terrorism have been directed at the American people around the world;

Whereas representatives of Islam around the world including Osama Bin Laden (architect of 9/11), the government of Iran including Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, HAMAS, Hezbollah, and other Islamic groups have declared jihad (war) on America, and regularly declare that America should cease to exist;

Whereas there is no organized Islamic opposition to violent proponents of Islam;

Therefore: Islam is not a religion, but a political ideology more akin to Fascism and totally in opposition to the ideals of freedom as described in the United States Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights.

Be it resolved that the following Amendment to the Constitution be adopted:

Article I

The social/political/ideological system known around the world as Islam is not recognized in the United States as a religion.

The practice of Islam is therefore not protected under the 1st Amendment as to freedom of religion and speech.

Article II

As representatives of Islam around the world have declared war, and committed acts of war, against the United States and its democratic allies around the world, Islam is hereby declared an enemy of the United States and its practice within the United States is now prohibited.

Article III

Immediately upon passage of this Amendment all Mosques, schools and Muslim places of worship and religious training are to be closed, converted to other uses, or destroyed. Proceeds from sales of such properties may be distributed to congregations of said places but full disclosure of all proceeds shall be made to an appropriate agency as determined by Congress. No compensation is to be offered by Federal or State agencies for losses on such properties however Federal funding is to be available for the demolishing of said structures if other disposition cannot be made.

The preaching of Islam in Mosques, Schools, and other venues is prohibited. The subject of Islam may be taught in a post high school academic environment provided that instruction include discussion of Islam’s history of violence, conquest, and its ongoing war on democratic and other non-Islamic values.

The preaching or advocating of Islamic ideals of world domination, destruction of America and democratic institutions, jihad against Judaism, Christianity and other religions, and advocating the implementation of Sharia law shall in all cases be punishable by fines, imprisonment, deportation, and death as prescribed by Congress. Violent expressions of these and other Muslim goals, or the material support of those both in the United States and around the world who seek to advance these Islamic goals shall be punishable by death.

Muslims will be denied the opportunity to immigrate to the United States.

Article IV

Nothing in this amendment shall be construed as authorizing the discrimination against, of violence upon, nor repudiation of the individual rights of those Americans professing to be Muslim. The individual right of conscience is sacrosanct and the practice of Islam within the privacy of home and self is strictly protected to the extent that such individuals do not violate the prohibitions described in Article III.

Shades of "restive" southern Thailand, there's that "unrest" again.

Hey Mr. "journalist", the phrase you're looking for is moslem rioting, not "unrest".

I agree with Josephine.

I presume Mr. Reddy is Hindu--there have been other cases involving Christians, also. The common denominator is that the students are Muslim, and resent any non-Muslim having *any* authority over them.

This reminds me very much of that case--I think it was about a year ago--where two Muslim students in--I think--Nigeria--accused their Christian teacher of making anti-Islamic comments. They had been dressed down for being late to class, just like these students. If I recall correctly, the teacher was pursued, assaulted, and threatened with death. He had to leave the school in fear of his life. (I'm sorry to be so vague on the specifics--I tried to Google this incident, and there were so many cases that I couldn't find the specific article. I'm sure many JW readers remember it, however).

Here's another case involving a Christian teacher and Muslim students--this one is especially horrifying:

http://illustratedpig.blogspot.com/2007/03/what-did-you-learn-in-school-to-day.htmlhttp://illustratedpig.blogspot.com/2007/03/what-did-you-learn-in-school-to-day.html

According to Arjun Sevak:

The police have registered a case against Mr. Reddy for "spreading communal discord" among communities. The complaint was lodged by an association of some imams. Mr. Reddy, who left Hyderabad for his home town post his suspension is now being actively sought by the police. I fear that his academic career is finished and I also fear for his life. ..........................

If this is the case it is especially awful, as civilian authorities are doing the bidding of hard-line Islam, on the say-so of disgruntled school kids. Appalling, and seemingly more common all the time.
