Al-Qaeda linked to Bhutto bomb

Escalation. "Official cites Qaida link in Bhutto bomb," by Ashraf Khan for Associated Press:

KARACHI, Pakistan - The suicide attack that killed up to 136 people and shattered former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's joyous return from exile bore the hallmarks of a warlord tied to al-Qaida and the Taliban, authorities said Friday. Forensic experts studied a severed head to determine the bomber's identity.

Baitullah Mehsud — a top militant leader on the unstable Afghan border — threatened this month to meet Bhutto's return to Pakistan with suicide attacks, according to local media reports. An associate of Mehsud, however, denied Taliban involvement.

The top security official in the province where the attack took place suggested that Bhutto's camp had not seriously considered the need for security for her return after eight years in exile.

"They got carried away by political exigencies instead of taking our concern seriously," said the official, Ghulam Muhammad Mohtarem.

Not wise -- particularly not now, with the resurgence of jihadist sentiments all over Pakistan.

Given the connection between Al Qaeda and the Pakistani security services, isn't this really just an inside job?

Bhutto says that the people who did this "are not muslims. Muslims don't kill other muslims. Muslims don't hurt women."

Well, there you have it. It wasn't muslims. It wasn't al-queda. She said so.

Denial,
denial,
denial

She should get elected easily in Pakistan.

Land of the pure.

Pure denial.

Islam is perfect.

Muslims are perfect.

Repeat, repeat, repeat again.

"Mislims don't kill other Muslims"

This is a statement that is not just limited to Muslims. Christians have used it when disavowing anti-abortion violence. I've heard football fans use it to describe their rioting brethren. I guess it is something that humans in general must use to distance themselves from those who cause embarrassment.

I'll bet there is a ten dollar word that psychologists use to describe it.

The man said he would do it and he did. For now that's good enough for me.

Bhutto's comment that the perps were not "real"
muslims is just a semantic waste of time. We all know that "real" muslims will do anything, especially kill women, since they are threatened by them.

Time to stop pussyfooting around, with the blast in Pakistan and the blast in the philippines along with all the previous attacks around the globe its time for payback. Anyone caught fighting Jihad, anyone with explosive devices or weapons etc should be executed, no ifs, no buts. They attack indiscriminately, take no heed of who they kill or maim, to them life is cheap. Execute them.

If they reside in a non muslim country deport the entire family (i don't care where to), shut down the mosque they used to pray to their satan. Ban Islam in the west, get rid of them all and let them kill each other.

I find it rather a stretch to equate Muslim violence to the isolated anti-abortion violence inflicted by misguided individuals who may believe they are doing the Lord's work, but in fact, are committing acts Jesus would never condone. Of course, the abortionists activities also fly in the face of Jesus' teachings.

Through the merits of their own actions, Muslims deserve our singular focus of attention and judgement...
..the actions of no other group on the face of the earth begins to compare to the moral and spiritual depravity of Islam.

So when is the official name change from "Religion of Peace" to Religion of Pieces going to take place?

As well, some Muslim students feared the Bluff's menu addition would undermine ongoing efforts to persuade the Scarborough Campus Students Union to find space for an all-halal eatery on campus.

Pelayo, wouldn't you dissociate yourself from anyone who committed violence against Muslims and tried to justify it by quoting something they read at JW? Your equating "anti-abortion violence" with jihadist Muslim violence was gratutitous, to say the least.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_viol.htm

Unless you consider the act of picketing to be violent, the anti-abortionists can't hold a candle to jihadists. There were 24 murders and attempted murders between 1989 and 3Q 2004. There were also thousands of arrests of people who violated laws guaranteeing open access to abortion clinics. How many Muslim countries prosecute jihadists or those who foment violence?

The "pro-life" and the "anti-abortionist" movements are different. According to religious tolerance:

In recent years, the term "anti-abortion" has been used to identify individuals and groups which employ violence and murder to attain their political ends. They are differentiated from the vastly larger "pro-life" movement which rejects violence against persons and property.

JW and other groups use the instruments of peaceful communication to spread their message. They don't kill or even threaten those who disagree with them. We don't need a ten-dollar word for it. It can be described in very simple terms: right and wrong.

Borg

"began offering halal-certified meat options to cater to Muslim customers.

Halal ("lawful") foods are those that adhere to Islamic conventions on diet and meat and dairy preparations.

However because Bluff's serves alcohol, the 500-student Muslim association has refused to endorse the restaurant for its membership."

They are already catering to them by offering the food in the first place, but noooooo that's not good enough. Good grief.

From your link borg:

"The ministry said the militant had been trained in a Pakistani Islamic school and was tasked to carry out a suicide attack on security forces in Afghanistan."

This is why the school in VA and others like it need to checked out and/or closed down.

This is only the beginning

Take, take, take, take, take, that's how all muslim negotiations with non-muslims seem to go. These people need to start assimilating or get the hell out.

Bhutto made herself a target when she vowed to use any means necessary to destroy OBL and Al Quaeda in Wazoo-istan.

She would even invite the US Air Force to bomb OBL if necessary. Did she take that cue from Barack Obama?

Posted by: CTYankee [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 19, 2007 12:22 PM

She could have been a target because she let a bit of her hair show. Or wearing lipstick even. Any reason will do.

Posted by: Borg [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 19, 2007 1:25 PM

Dammittall, Rrejjie, and everybody else who thinks that way. I am not equating religious violence and sports violence with anything. I am equating similar human thought processes. Ways people isolate themselves form perpetrators. Pleeeeze quit wearing your sensitivity on your shirtsleeves.

The article doesn't say, but it seems to me that these are also the countries that are having the biggest problems with muslims. Coincidence??

Posted by: walterc [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 19, 2007 1:39 PM

Before 9-11 I thought pakistan was something different. They had a woman prime minister, and that struck me as really odd in a supposed Islamic state. She was ousted from office for corruption which back then seemed to be ordinary politics just like everywhere else.

Maybe Musharraf needs a lightning rod. The world is certainly different from when she was last in office. This is not the last attempt to get rid of her either. They'll just use a bigger bomb next time. Women in Islam should not be seen and not be heard.

When are we going to quit beating around the bush with this "Al-Qaeda linked to Bhutto bomb", when ,in fact, it's Islam that's linked to the Bhutto bomb.

It's Islam that inspires Al-Qaeda, and it's Islam that provides all the justification Al-Qaeda needs for its crimes.

Posted by: rational [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 19, 2007 2:55 PM

Rational, that's it! Al-Qaeda this, Al-Qaeda that, and Al-Qaeda something else has become a red herring that lets people like Bush and Rice repeat the RoP mantra and appear correct.

Al Qaeda merely receives their inspiration from that book.

"and declared she would risk her life to restore democracy in Pakistan and prevent an extremist takeover."

"We believe democracy alone can save Pakistan from disintegration and a militant takeover," Bhutto said at a news conference less than 24 hours after bombs exploded near a truck carrying her in a festive procession marking her return from eight years of self-imposed exile.

"We are prepared to risk our lives and we are prepared to risk our liberty, but we are not prepared to surrender our great nation to the militants," the pro-Western leader added."

Maybe there is some hope after all. Doubt it though.

Watched Ms Bhutto on Telly-whatever issues we have
with her Religion & Corruption of Bhutto Dynasty-I salute her Courage.
She questioned why street lights were 'turned off'
[making her convoy a better target]-there were also gun shots presumably to hit vehicles' drivers
or puncture tyres before bombers detonated.
Of course Musharref may have turned a blind eye to proceedings [he wants her removed too] or by all accounts the Police in Crapistan are hopelessly infiltrated with Taliban & Al Quaeda.
Whatever hopes are for a 'more stable'Pakistan
see only bloody slope towards Islamic anarchy
resembling Somalia with Nukes...
