Because a Muslim youth entered a police station and began stabbing two police officers. One of them, after having been stabbed multiple times, shot him to death. Rioting has followed. If the police officers had simply consented to being stabbed, there would have been no problem, you see.
"Nine days in Slotervaart: Immigrant youths turn to violence in Amsterdam," by Georg Schreuder Hes for Radio Netherlands:
It has been an unusually violent week for Amsterdam's western Slotervaart district. Cars were torched and youths clashed with police on several consecutive nights after a 22-year-old ethnic Moroccan was shot dead at a police station. He was killed by a policewoman he had just stabbed a number of times. The riots that followed reminded Amsterdam's Chief Commissioner Bernard Welten of a major nightmare for Western European cities: violence on a Parisian scale. Every major town in the Netherlands has its share of so-called problem youths, the type of violent adolescents who gang up to terrorise the neighbourhood. Many of them are the children of migrant workers of Moroccan descent who arrived in the Netherlands in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Dutch called them guest workers, the operative idea being that they would return to their country of origin when they were no longer needed. So nobody bothered to teach them Dutch, or much of anything else for that matter. The guest workers had their wives come over, but they, just like their husbands were not expected, or encouraged, to integrate into Dutch society....
This article from the Dutch mainstream press never considers the possibility, of course, that the immigrants may not have wanted to assimilate, or that they may have a model of society that they prefer to the Dutch one, and eventually hope to impose in The Netherlands.
The situation was substantially exacerbated by successive governments that chose to ignore what people in the streets knew was an increasingly serious problem. For years, political correctness dictated that problems with migrant children could not be openly discussed. Anybody trying to do so would be accused of blatant racism and Islamophobia. So by the time the social climate began to change, in the late 1990s, the situation had spun well and truly out of control. Violent incidentsSlotervaart, a district in the west of Amsterdam, is not very different from any other poor district in the Netherlands' major cities. What sets it apart from similar districts is a recent series of violent incidents. On 11 October, a 16 year-old Moroccan boy died of a stab wound he sustained in a fight with a 14-year-old classmate after the two got into an argument over a pen. Only three days later, a disturbed Moroccan man walked into the local police station and, without any provocation, stabbed and seriously injured a police woman and one of her colleagues. The man was shot dead by one of the officers.
In the following days, local Moroccan youths torched four cars in the district and smashed the windows of the police station. Since then, police have been intensively patrolling the district, which led to the arrests of eight youths who were detained when officers found jerry cans full of petrol in their vehicle. In the past few days, senior police officers have been making comparisons with the riots that raged in Paris in which more than 9,000 cars were torched two years ago.

The Netherlands, I would contend, is presently experiencing its greatest crisis in its entire history as an independent nation since it broke away from Spain in the 1560s. Even William the Silent and his descendants who led their fellow Dutch to complete independence by 1648 were actually less threatened with national annihilation than the Dutch are today from the enemy within------Islam. I wish the Dutch well and would humbly suggest to any who might be reading this post that not only should Muslim immigration to The Netherlands be stopped, but that expulsion of Muslims in large numbers be seriously considered if The Netherlands is to survive as the truly wonderful Western nation it long has been. Time is running out.

I get out of the story that it is the fault of the Netherlands for not helping them "integrate" into society. The real victims in this case are the ordinary Dutch people who are the victims of their own government.
In the entire Radio Netherlands article, the M word was not used once. Does anyone in European MSM dare say M-U-S-L-I-M?
Americans are different aren't we? Unlike Europeans, we have a healthy warriness and disdain for government don't we? We would never let immigration get out of control would we?
Well, what the hell is happening? When government fails its people, what must the people do?

" He was killed by a policewoman he had just stabbed a number of times."
This could have all been avoided if Dutch Police had been required to attend classes on multiculturalism and diversity. There they would have learned that Muslims are not subject to the same laws and behaviour required of non-Muslim Dutch citizens, That Muslims answer to higher laws than those that exist in most civilized socities, and that it is insensitive to expect them to obey laws enforced in a secular, democratic society.
If police had only known that, these riots might not have occured. They might have been sensitive enough to allow themselves to be stabbed to death without putting up any resistence. They might even have been lionized in their funeral orations as examples of how a good police office should conduct himself when attacked by a Muslim -- with sensitivity and understanding of the cultural and religious differences between Muslims and Westerners.
Don't look for the Dutch government to learn any lessons from what's happened. If anything, they'll step up their drive to stamp out Islamophobia in Dutch society.

"If police had only known that, these riots might not have occured. They might have been sensitive enough to allow themselves to be stabbed to death without putting up any resistence."
Earlier today I was reading from Islam 101 up above on the JW toolbar and came across this.
"Should the dhimmi violate the conditions of the dhimma -- perhaps through practicing his own religion indiscreetly or failing to show adequate deference to a Muslim -- then the jihad resumes. At various times in Islamic history, dhimmi peoples rose above their subjected status, and this was often the occasion for violent reprisals by Muslim populations who believed them to have violated the terms of the dhimma. Medieval Andalusia (Moorish Spain) is often pointed out by Muslim apologists as a kind of multicultural wonderland, in which Jews and Christians were permitted by the Islamic government to rise through the ranks of learning and government administration. What we are not told, however, is that this relaxation of the disabilities resulted in widespread rioting on the part of the Muslim populace that killed hundreds of dhimmis, mainly Jews."
Interesting. It appears that in countries where Muslims have not quite taken over yet, their offspring already "assume the sale." Unfortunately for the "22-year-old ethnic Moroccan" who was no doubt on his way to becoming a brain surgeon before this tragic (and self-imposed) incident, he neglected to study basic human nature that says my survival instinct is much stronger than your Muslim beliefs and if you attack me with a knife and I have a gun in my hand, I'm taking you out.
Do they allow kids to watch "Raiders of the Lost Ark" movies in the Middle East? 'Might be a good idea for future clarification of what is dumb and what is dumber. They especially need to pay attention to the scene where the big old Arab challenges Indy with his scimitar and Indy looks off into the distance exasperatedly, pulls out his gun and shoots the guy dead and then continues on. Had this "22-year-old ethnic Moroccan" had the benefit of western influence he would have known that and he would still be with us today.

I have seen so far at JW the same "he gets it" attributed to Guiliani, Romney, Thompson, Tancredo, and now Huckabee.
Using "Islamo-fascism" indicates nothing more than what GWB indicates on his own awareness of global jihad and the nature of Islam. Until one of them steps up the plate and announces "Islam is the Problem" and democracy for them is NOT the solution, as far as I'm concerned, they don't get a damned thing, particularly my vote.

Disagreed 100 %. The ideology of Islam pre-dates the ideology of socialism by many, many, many years. That statement is about as valid as the Muslim's claim that Christianity is similar to Islam, when the direct opposite is true, primarily due to Islam gratutously lifting from Christianity and Judaism, both of which preceded Islam historically.
In the most abrupt analogy to refute your point that I can possibly think of:

leon,
Islam has and always will be the "problem" and the bane of what we know as the Judeo-Christian West. Islam is merely enjoying a period of flow in its eternal ebb and flow existence in global society. Currently, political correctness, and multicultural globalism, what you deem as socialism, is the vehicle du jour that they, the Islamists, are exploiting.
When you refer to "we", I assume Europe, and I feel your plight.
I agree that homework is desperately needed here, but certainly not by me.
This one world socialist government that you deem Islam to seek is at the root of your erroneous statement. The misogynistic, theocratic application of Islam, via Sharia law, could not possibly be any more different than the original intent of socialism, with the noted exception that both are failed ideologies historically, says this "silly boy", dude.
Posted by: awake
at October 20, 2007 12:24 AM
And perhaps, leon, you would care to elaborate on the problem of violent, agressive Islamic expansionism from its inception and up to the 11th century, which culminated in the necessary call for the defensive Crusades, and the correlation to the rampant "socialism" of the historical times.
'nuff said.

We pushed them back from Spain, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Austria, Italy, France, Greece, etc. We had pushed them back before and we can do it again. So when I read:
"Should the dhimmi violate the conditions of the dhimma -- perhaps through practicing his own religion indiscreetly or failing to show adequate deference to a Muslim -- then the jihad resumes. At various times in Islamic history, dhimmi peoples rose above their subjected status, and this was often the occasion for violent reprisals by Muslim populations who believed them to have violated the terms of the dhimma. What we are not told, however, is that this relaxation of the disabilities resulted in widespread rioting on the part of the Muslim populace that killed hundreds of dhimmis, mainly Jews."It only reminds me that this fight against the evils of Islamic domination, to take away our natural human freedoms with its vicious oppressive tyrannical cult of Mohammed, must be fought over and over again. But if the people are asleep, then how?
Remind them of their national treasures, the beauty of their country and people, the wilderness we preserved, the great history that made us the free people who enjoy a standard of life never achieved by those primitive savage barbarians, and our achievements in arts, science, human rights, medicine, life expectancy, our literature, theater, great architecture, our marvelous cities, all these things that the primitive savage Islamics hate with a passion, our freedoms, our equal rights, our beautiful men and women, our lucky children, all of which they hate. Remind the people of all these things they hate about us. And then, in a measured way, let the people through their power of vote and free assembly begin to undo the damage these primitives whom we let in have done to us. It is time to turn the tide.

"So nobody bothered to teach them Dutch, or much of anything else for that matter. The guest workers had their wives come over, but they, just like their husbands were not expected, or encouraged, to integrate into Dutch society.... "
So, you invite "guest workers," these out-stay their "guest" status, and it is the responsibility of the host government and citizens to teach them the host country's language, customs, and integrate them into the society?
Before this time of political correctness, multiculturalism, and Islamic immigrants it was expected that those who settled into a host country were responsible for integrating, if they expected acceptance--or, in the case of "guest workers," not being kicked out of where they don't belong.
But that was, as I said, "Before this time of political correctness, multiculturalism, and Islamic immigrants."

"The Dutch called them guest workers, the operative idea being that they would return to their country of origin when they were no longer needed. So nobody bothered to teach them Dutch, or much of anything else for that matter."
The sad part is, as the native Dutch leave the Netherlands for the Anglosphere (US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand), leaving behind in the Netherlands those who have no desire to adopt the Dutch language or culture, one sees a day in the not-too-distant future when the Dutch language could join the list of extinct languages, those languages that have no native speakers. In a few hundred years, Dutch may be the sole province of a few obscure scholars, rather like Cumbrick or Gothic. Of course, if Islam has taken over the world by then, there won't even be that.

Gaye- I know they are doing violence all over the world. I've been a long time reader of JW. And lots of other sites.
I often post links to other OT news that seems relavent whenever I find it. Youtube has many citizen journalist videos covering such incidents. And Liveleak. And there are many bloggers keeping up with newsworthy stories that often don't make the news.
http://www.thereligionofpeace.com is really good.
Also check these links to bloggers for European insight. Has a link from every Europe country.

And our own posters, above, sheik-yer-mami and Ferdy. And the LGF site. Whenever someone posts and their name is underlined, that means they have a link to their own site. You should check them out sometimes. I often test out the links listed on the sidebars of this and other sites to see how good their local coverage is.
There are so many sites sounding the alarm that it always surprises me when BBC interviews someone about sharia and they never heard of it. Or they think muslims are not a threat to their way of life. Even if they aren't bombing they are still out to conquer.
And http://www.globalincidentmap.com/home.php
Thanks profitsbeard for that link update.

Let's just be honest for a moment. The simple fact is that our governments are afraid of the islamists and the havoc the islamists would wreak if anyone in a position of authority dare to speak the truth. Islam is a political movement hidden beneath the cloak of 'religion'. But, you can't 'SAY' that.. you can just think it (if you don't get caught) and sit in misery as you watch your civilization and your culture wither away before our very eyes.
Islam... Cancer of the Soul.

Just as the police killed the assailant in the stabbing in the police station, it comes down to self defense. The uniforms disappear and one has to defend oneself or die. The Dutch are learning this the hard way. It's possibe they'll figure it out and start throwing the 'trash' out, - the muslims. They'll learn, as the world learns, that these creatures, muslims, are nothing more than thugs, criminals in our eyes, not theirs. We hope to live in a civilized world. The muslim culture never came out of their adolescent years. They're worse than children in a playground. Except they're not playing childrens games, they're playing very dangerous games of murder, homicide bombing, lieing and cheating with the non-muslims. Their religion has them living in the 7th century as ignorant, itinerant, waring desert tribesmen. Killing, stealing, raping and pillaging is accepted. Eventually violence will ensue worldwide. There will be no choice but self defense, unless Europe and the world wants the 'holocaust' all over again. Personally, I'm not going to the slaughter. It won't be the 'Crusades' again, but kill or be killed. These muslim creatures show no sign of wanting to live in peace, much less to assimilate. They are the ones starting all the violence. It will be similar to WWII when the Japanese woke up the sleeping giant - the USA- only to their dismay.

Why DID that peaceful young Muslim go into the police station and begin stabbing that woman? Does anyone know? Thanks.

The woman who shot this man as he was stabbing her colleague saved both his life and her own. It's still not clear what provoked him, but some are blaming the sexuality of Dutch society for the increased radicalism of Muslim youth. This must mean that unless the Dutch ascribe to Islamic norms, more violence can be expected?

An editorial in NRC.next claims that the Netherlands' oversexed society is pushing Muslims towards tradition, "rather Al-Jazeera than bimbos on Dutch TV" Mohamed Benzakour writes that the popularity of satellite dishes among Muslims is a direct response to pornography on Dutch cable television.
He describes a scene common in many households: the family has come to visit and the television is on in the background. Before you know it a half naked woman flashes across the screen. In a flash of embarrassment you switch channels but only find snogging teenagers or adults going further.
Turning it off is one solution and "a satellite dish pointing to the east where the only thing that rises in naked glory is the sun" is the other. Mr Benzakour writes that many young Muslims find the sexualisation of Dutch society increasingly loathsome and withdraw into the safety of orthodox Islam. He notes that sex permeates every aspect of Dutch life and that for Muslims it's not an invitation to embrace Dutch culture.

Awake
The problem with socialism is that it's the carrot that lures massive numbers of Muslims to the west. Get rid of socialism and you solve at least part of the problem.
We are never going to change the Muslim world or their religion, so if we want solutions to this problem then we need to look at ourselves. We can only change the Western world, and so that's what we must do if we are going to survive has a civilization. The idea that we can change the Islamic world is just a comforting fantasy, it's night-light to keep the boogeyman away.
Multi-culturalism and socialism are at the root of the problem, if we can get rid of those then that rest will take care of it's self.

Whether we choose to believe it or not it is the Western world that is still in control. The West can either protect it's self or it can destroy it's self, and if the West choose to desroy it's self then Islam will fill the void left behind.

"local Moroccan youths torched four cars in the district and smashed the windows of the police station. Since then, police have been intensively patrolling the district, which led to the arrests of eight youths who were detained when officers found jerry cans full of petrol in their vehicle."
-- from the article above
In the United States, if there were "nine days" of rioting, the police would, quite properly, shoot to kill. And they would have overwhelming public support. The forces of order, and the indigenous Infidels, have to suppress this kind of thing, and then use all such occasions to round up and deport non-citizens who are engaged in violence or support such violence indirectly. No nonsense should be tolerated.
This will require a change in attitudes. The Infidel publics have to change their preconceptions, their worldview, their ill-considered assumptions, and recognize the superiority of the legacy they inherited and, in many ways, will now have to show that they have earned that legacy by protecting it against the steady and systematic assault of those whose holy books flatly contradict every part of the legal and political institutions of the Western world, which world. Otherwise, if Muslims were to continue to be successful in intimidating ( and confusing and discombobulating a sufficient number of Infidels, the Western world would inexorably descend to the miserable condition of Muslim countries, miserable not always economically but civilizationally.

"Yuts" acting up, huh? In the very Neder, Neder, lowly dhimmi lands. Well, watcha gonna do, Neders? Running Hirsi Ali out of her apartment did not buy you "peace in your time", denying her bodyguards did not either. Are you gonna go even more Neder and kidnap her, and give her into the hands of the "yuts" to be Van-Goghed?
The Neders out-Neder themselves being politically correct toward the Muslims, but hell, do they throw away any PC when it comes to the Serbs! It is "in" there to proudly call themselves "Serb-haters", to express absolutely open, bloodthirsty anti-Serb racism, calling for the destruction of Serbia.
It will be delicious if a large crowd of Serbs gather in front of the Dutch embassy and accuse the entire Dutch people of "atrocities" against the "yuts" and demanding that the "yuts" are granted full Islamic independence in the Amsterdam while the entire native Dutch population put on the UN War Crimes trial right there, in the Hague.

Perhaps you thought Leon meant violent.
Perhaps I thought Leon meant what he said, which was that we should take away our freedoms and become more like the jihadists. For a full treatment of this theory, see Dinesh D'Souza. Whom I disagree with.
It had nothing to do with what we were talking about, but you brought up violence. I've got no problem with using violence to defend ourselves. I've got a big problem with sending our troops into battle with an enemy that we simultaneously claim to be our good friend and our strong ally. I've got a big problem with telling our troops they cannot fire back at jihadists if there are "civilians" in the area. Either we're at war, or we're not. Until we stop claiming that the enemy is a "few extremists" who have "twisted a religion of peace", we should not be sending our troops to protect the Iraqi Shi'ites from the Sunnis and vice versa, or the Saudis from the Iraqis, or the Iraqis from the Iranians, or the Afghans from the Pakistanis. Our first and only duty is to protect our own citizens. And the best way to do that right now is not with a bigger bomb, but with a better educated public.

Today’s newspapers reports that two native Dutch boys were arrested for terrorized an Islamic family until they left their neighborhood. An event quite unique, never before I heard of an Islamic family being terrorized and driven out of a neighborhood in The Netherlands. There are many other reports of people being driven out of their own neighborhood involved native Dutch people who were under attack of "youths". But in all those instances never any arrest are reported.

then we should help them pack their crap in suitcases and send them all away. all done democratically and peacefully.

"An editorial in NRC.next claims that the Netherlands' oversexed society is pushing Muslims towards tradition, "rather Al-Jazeera than bimbos on Dutch TV" Mohamed Benzakour writes that the popularity of satellite dishes among Muslims is a direct response to pornography on Dutch cable television."
This is a red herring, and a foul-smelling one at that. Don't take things at face value. Muslims are the largest group of Internet consummers of porn, not the Dutch or the Danes or the Americans.
Read this:
"According to Google Trends, over all years for which data has been gathered, seven out of the top ten countries searching for the word ’sex’ on the internet are Muslim Countries. In order of viewing, these Muslim countries are : Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, Indonesia and Iran. Please view this link from Google Trends."
What this means is not that Dutch Muslims hate porn in itself, but that they hate the Dutch's ease with sexuality, their lack of inhibitions, and the implicit freedom women enjoy and assert while engaging in pornography and other behaviors of "liberated" sexuality.
Islam is a deeply disturbed ideology from the point of view of sex and sexual roles. Segregation of sexes from an early age, and the mothers' and sisters' low status in life leave Muslim young males perpetually hungry for sexual expression yet deeply hateful of those thru whom it comes, women, who may show they have a mind of their own. That hate explains the pedophilia for young boys (structural in Islam from its inception) and the "zoophilia" the statistics above reveal.
It's not about sex as such. It's about women and sex, or about Muslim males' need to regulate Muslim women's sexual lives as the source of a man's/tribe's honor or shame.

I agree with everything you say about Muslim sexual repression. The article I saw only confirmed it. I wouldn't fault Dutch society for any of this. I don't see it as a red herring. It's something we need to be aware of. The people who are making these charges must be answered. Unless we know what they want us to believe then we can't refute it.
That article was on the same site that Robert's posting came from. I found it while trying to learn where the whole thing started. What made this guy go into the police station and start attacking uniformed officers? Was he a jihadist who wanted to take the short path to heaven? Was he just a mentally ill guy who happened to be a Muslim? He wouldn't be the first person to commit "suicide by cop".

Elderly live in fear in crime surge
19.10.2007
Families worried after fatal robbery
A robbery that led to an older man’s death and a general increase in robberies and attacks in private homes have many residents fearing for their safety.
A residential robbery last week in the west-Zealand town of Smørum included a brutal assault on the home’s elderly couple in which the 65-year-old husband died.
The couple was bound and gagged and initial reports from police indicate the husband, Freddie Olin Pedersen, had been struck on the head. However, the actual cause of death has not yet been established.
Three men are being sought in connection with the attack after police located a grey-blue Volkswagen Touran thought to be the suspects’ getaway vehicle. Several neighbours of Pedersen said they are shocked and more concerned than ever about being victims of a violent break-in.
The Smørum incident is the latest in a rising number of attacks on private homes, and many citizens are fearful that they may be the next victims of a violent assault. Three additional incidents where couples were tied up and assaulted in their homes have taken place in the Greater Copenhagen area since late June.
Police statistics show that violent crime has risen 19 percent since 2000 and reports of violent incidents received by police have risen steadily since 2002.
But Kim Kliver, head of the state police’s National Investigation Centre, said citizens have little cause to be suspicious of the average person on the street.
‘We’ve experienced a small increase in the number of robberies this year and luckily very few of them were violent,’ said Kliver.
It is often the elderly who are most vulnerable to such crimes, and in three of the four above-mentioned cases, the victims were over 65 years old.
But Tom Nervil, spokesperson for DaneAge Association, the national interest group for the elderly, said that while elderly people should be sensibly cautious, there is no need for panic.
‘We almost never get calls from people concerned about being attacked,’ said Nervil. ‘Our impression is that there are still very few instances of assault on the elderly.’
Lene and Erik Hansen, an elderly couple from Faske in southern Zealand, would be hard to convince of that stance. Their house was broken into last year by a pistol-wielding man and Erik said his wife is still shaken following the robbery.
‘We’ve become much more wary about letting people into our house, even when they’re nicely dressed,’ said Hansen. ‘Our mistrust of people has unfortunately grown considerably.’

Violent youth

Young people in Copenhagen are more violent than those the same age in the other Nordic countries. Olso University has released a study of the behaviour of over 6000 people aged 13 and 16. Over 9 percent of Danish 15-16 year olds have at one point carried weapons, whilst in Norway the figure is 4 percent. The study also showed that young Danes and Finns top the list of gang violence.

Aliens keen on education offer
19.10.2007
Many of the 500 Iraqi asylum seekers whose appeals have been rejected by the government have expressed an interest in accepting an offer of free education and a one-time payment if they agree to return home, reports Nyhedsavisen newspper.
The government recently increased its repatriation incentive package to DKK 55,000 (EUR 7500) to especially encourage asylum seekers from northern Iraq. The offer includes the choice of free education or job training. Previously, rejected asylum seekers from Iraq were offered DKK 18,000 if they agreed to return home voluntarily.
Representatives from the Sandholm Asylum Centre, where asylum seekers whose applications have been turned down are housed, said that the response had improved primarily due to the opportunity to receive an education.
‘A lot of people will probably reject this offer too,’ said Mads Christensen, a spokesperson for the Red Cross that operates the centre. ‘But most people are positive.’
]The incentive programme will not be used to force asylum seekers currently in Denmark to return home, but according to the Immigration Ministry, the government is in fact seeking to reach an agreement with officials in northern Iraq that will allow Denmark to forcibly return rejected Iraqi asylum seekers to the region.

Sweden Democrats to launch anti-immigration campaign
Published: 20th October 2007 12:46 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/8851/
The far right Sweden Democrats party is to unleash a new national campaign attacking 'mass immigration', reports Sydsvenskan.
The publicity drive will include up to half a million newspapers, public meetings and a synchronised series of motions in the councils where the party has representatives.
Press spokesman Mattias Karlsson told Sydsvenskan that the point of the campaign against immigration is twofold: first to remind the public of the "enormous problem" and secondly to present a "more toned down" image of the party.
"People still think that we want to throw out all immigrants," said Karlsson.
In fact, he pointed out, the party merely wants "a massive reduction" in the number of immigrants coming to Sweden.
Additionally, the party is calling for local councils to ditch their diversity policies and for a block on funding of immigrant organisations. The use of other languages in schools should also be banned, says the party.
A recent poll revealed that the Sweden Democrats could soon be the third most popular party among Swedish men, with nearly six percent saying they support the far right organisation.
Speaking to Dagens Nyheter, Ulla Ekström von Essen, historian and contributor to a Board of Integration report on the Sweden Democrats, warned that the party is using its council representation as a springboard for spreading its anti-immigration message.
"For the first time in Sweden we have a populist xenophobic political movement in the local councils, built on the premise that the municipalities' problems are immigrants' fault," she said.

Denmark failing immigrant groups
19.10.2007
A comprehensive study of integration conditions for the EU’s immigrant population puts Denmark near the bottom of the list
Denmark is one of the European Union’s worst countries when it comes to integrating immigrants,acc-ording to the most comprehensive study to date on the issue.
The 2007 Migrant Integration Policy Index, released on Sunday by the British Council and financed by the European Commission, placed Denmark 21st out of the 27 EU countries.
Denmark was given a passing grade in only one of the study’s six assessment categories, and its family reunification policy was placed ahead of only Austria’s and Cyprus’s. In categories regarding labour market access and anti-discrimination, Denmark was also judged as having ‘unfavourable’ conditions for immigrants.
The only category where the country received a positive mark was in immigrants’ access to long-term residence, where conditions were rated ‘slightly favourable’.
Kamal Qureshi, MP for the Socialist People’s Party, said the poor results demonstrated ‘an unambiguous congratulations’ to the efforts of the nationalist Danish People’s Party.
‘This is something that has happened in full view and with the co-operation of the Liberal-Conservative government,’ Qureshi told Politiken newspaper. ‘It isn’t a side effect but something the government has specifically aimed for since the day they came to power - making it harder for immigrants to obtain family reunification and Danish citizenship.’
The Danish Institute for Human Rights conducted the research in Denmark for the study, and this makes the results especially scathing, according to Jens Vedsted Hansen, law professor at Aarhus University.
‘It damages our international image even further,’ said Hansen. ‘One can choose to ignore the results from a political standpoint, but many politicians and business leaders are aware that these factors can be a problem when recruiting qualified foreign labour - and we can clearly see they have been.’
Irene Simonsen, the integration spokesperson for the prime minister’s Liberal party, called the study ‘useless’.
‘It’s created from theory and not from practice,’ said Simonsen. ‘All indicators are that our policies are on the right track when actually implemented.’
Jesper Langballe, integration spokesperson for the Danish People’s Party, said the study concentrates on immigrants from developing countries and not the kind of immigrants it believes Denmark needs to attract.
‘They’re talking about groups that really would rather not even have jobs,’ said Langballe. ‘We want to attract people from the other European countries, the US and Canada.’
Despite Denmark’s poor showing, the study found Danes generally supported the government’s integration efforts.
The population was evenly divided over making family reunification easier for immigrants, while facilitated naturalisation programmes were supported by a one-third.

SFI is failing immigrants
Published: 17th October 2007 17:44 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/8823/
SFI language courses aim to promote basic understanding of the Swedish language and society. But, argues Captus's Nima Sanandaji, with low pass rates and politicized content, it fails on both counts.
As a newcomer to Sweden, learning Swedish can be a joy as well as a hassle. In many countries there are a wide range of options available for those eager to learn the local language. But the system in Sweden is very much focused on the free public 'Svenska för Invandrare' ('Swedish for immigrants') courses, commonly known as SFI.
SFI has been around for more than 40 years and over 50 000 students are currently enrolled. The goal with SFI is to promote basic understanding of the Swedish language and society. Unfortunately, the education does not accomplish either task in a satisfactory way.
Only around half of the immigrants entitled to attend SFI actually start the education. Of these only a third actually finish the course the same year. A number of international studies have shown that although language skills are very good among native Swedes, they are poor among many immigrants. An international survey of 12 different OECD countries has for example shown, with data up to 1998, that fully 20-30 percent of immigrants in Sweden lack basic reading skills.
Adding to the problems, Sveriges Kommuner och Landsting (”The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions”), concludes that even passing the higher levels of SFI does not necessarily give the students language skills that are adequate for further education or the working market.
SFI is funded by the state but administered by local municipalities. The quality of the education varies very significantly among different municipalities. Among the municipalities that had more than 20 newcomers studying SFI in the academic year of 2003-04 the proportion of those who passed the higher level course after two and a half years of studies varied between 0 and 68 percent. Statistics from 1998 shows that Mölndal municipality spent 33,000 kronor for every student who passed SFI. The neighbouring municipality of Göteborg required fully 290,000 kronor to achieve the same results, although there were almost twice as many teachers per student in Göteborg.
A number of Swedish and international studies show that poor Swedish language skills are hindering immigrants from entering the labour market. This hindrance is all the more serious given that the rigid systems of taxes, welfare benefits and labour market regulations make it difficult for newcomers to start with low salary jobs and work their way up while they learn the language on the job. Obstacles in the labour market and strong labour unions basically mean that immigrants need good basic language skills before they can find their first jobs.
And when it comes to promoting basic understanding of the Swedish society, SFI does so in a very politicized way. Many books used as course literature by SFI are full of references to the wonders of socialism, Swedish social democracy and the benefits of having strong labour unions. Texts supposed to exemplify typical conversation pieces in Swedish society can be based on a conversation where one friend convinces another to join the labour union or when a person comments on the greatness of the Swedish big government system. A text about the normal events of Swedish society can exemplify by how a child is learning the importance of socialist First of May demonstrations from his father.
On the whole there is a lot to improve in SFI if the education is attain its goals of teaching basic language skills to newcomers and promoting understanding of the Swedish society from an apolitical perspective. Today many foreign professionals are able to learn Swedish at work, but the situation for the many immigrants from developing countries is much bleaker.

Could not Dutch lurkers or posters on this site find out, and give to Mr Spencer, information as to the particular police station at which the two officers were stabbed?
Thus, people who wished to send a BRIEF email of condolence and support to the injured officers - and strong commendation to the officer who saved herself and colleague by appropriate use of deadly force - could do so. That officer could even be sent a copy of 'Onward Muslim Soldiers', or 'PIG to Islam and the Crusades', with relevant portions bookmarked. Most educated Dutch can speak or read English fairly competently though of course it would be nice to have Dutch translations of all Robert's books!
Or the Dutch Police Minister (or equivalent) could be communicated with.
People need to know they're not alone. And Infidel police officers, especially, in every Infidel country, be it Holland, the USA, Australia, the UK (the list goes on) need to know they have a strong body of community support to do what they need to do when they face the Jihad on the streets.
They need to know that that is, indeed, what they are facing: invasion and insurrection. They need to know that Islam inculcates contempt for all non-Muslim laws and authorities. Then they will be in a position to understand the persistent lawbreaking, from the petty (traffic offences, minor frauds) all the way up to kidnappings, rapes and murders, always directed primarily against non-Muslims, that are associated with the Muslim populations in Infidel lands. And that they, as Infidel police officers representing, and authorised to enforce, the Infidel laws (which Islam regards as illegitimate and to be flouted wherever possible), are a primary target.

When Heidi Met Mehmet in the Meadow
From the desk of The Brussels Journal on Sun, 2007-10-14 13:49
An essay by Takuan Seiyo
The rusty cuckoo clock spring
"Not so long ago, ZÜRICH was famed for being the cleanest, most icily efficient city in Europe: apocryphal stories abound from the 1970s of tourists embarking on efforts to find a cigarette butt or food wrapper discarded on the" – thus begins the Yahoo review of Zurich, the remainder of which, alas, is lost and inaccessible somewhere in the chaotic morass one finds upon clicking on the invitation "Read more on Yahoo! Travel".
(1)
The decline in the quality of thinking, workmanship, caring and sense of purpose is therefore as manifest in the American signifier as it is in the Swiss signified, or so a European semiotician might adduce. But Switzerland has indeed not escaped the viral disease that's destroying the West.
Right now, I am in a restaurant in Zurich's industrial quarter of Oerlikon. I have time to write because the entrée I ordered 40 minutes ago has not yet been served. The Asian waitress is doing her best, the Italian maitre d' is helping out, but the place is at least two waitpersons short. The Swiss – once a people so poor that it had to export its men to fight for pay in foreign wars -- no longer stoop to do service work.
After dinner, I take a bracing walk past handsome, turn-of-the century buildings – every fourth of which harbors a kebab-shouarma restaurant or an ethnic grocery store. All are tended by young, brown, Middle Eastern-looking men. When I was a child living in a town not far from here, I was probably the only non-Swiss-born person in the area, there was no foreign food to be had, and everybody, including me, liked it that way.
Back in the hotel, the receptionist – twentyish, clearly Swiss born-and-bred – stares helplessly at her computer screen, trying in vain to cope with the insuperable task I imposed on her: finding Swissair's flight schedule.
I am at a loss. Switzerland used to have some of the toughest high school graduation requirements in the world. Just a generation ago it was unthinkable that the fabled educational system produce a specimen so dense, or that such a person find employment at the front desk of a major hotel. But then, since the blatant negligence in Zurich's flight control system caused the July 1, 2002 mid-air collision of two aircraft, killing all 71 aboard, Switzerland, and the world at large, have known that something has gone wrong with the storied mainspring of this country.
The receptionist's consternation gives me time to leaf through a popular local tabloid. A picture of Jennifer Lopez occupies a fifth of the front page. News of the Iraq War and the Russian Super-Bomb are on page seven. And on page 11, the staple that can be found in every Swiss newspaper these days, in German, French or Italian: another arrest of Albanian drug dealers.
Corrosion seeps from the left
Switzerland has been a haven for foreigners at least since the Roman emperor Vespasian's father lived and worked there as a banker. With each wave of religious repressions in Europe, Christian reformers from Jean Calvin to John Knox found refuge there, and their followers -- particularly the Huguenots who settled around Lake Geneva -- greatly enriched Switzerland with their talents and industry.
The annals of Switzerland's industrial might are full of foreign names that built fabled Swiss industries. The Nestle of Nestle came here from Germany, and the Patek of Patek Philippe came from Poland. Davidoff's eponymous founder was a Ukrainian, and Switzerland's most dynamic business tycoon, the founder of Swatch, Nicolas Hayek, was born in Lebanon.
Similarly, the world's record of cultural achievement could not have been the same but for Swiss hospitality to deserving foreigners. Voltaire and Rousseau were Swiss residents, as were Hegel and Nietzsche. So were Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner, Edward Gibbon and Thomas Mann, James Joyce and Jorge Louis Borges, Vladimir Nabokov and Charles Chaplin, Rudolf Diesel and Albert Einstein.
All that has made Switzerland better, wealthier and stronger. But there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. A spirit of judicious national hospitality has degenerated here into a naïve openness to nondiscriminating diversity. And numbers are of the essence.
As Swiss post-war prosperity grew, so has it demand for working hands, and its disincentives to native labor due to ever-growing entitlements. The great influx of foreign labor started in the 60s, and it worked spectacularly well. Italian waiters, and Spanish or Portuguese seasonal workers, and Serb engineers and secretaries did their jobs well, paid their taxes, respected law and order, meshed reasonably well in the culture, and either sprouted roots and were allowed to naturalize, or returned to their home countries, there to enjoy their pot of Swiss earnings.
But the West's toxins were seeping in. Since the 1970s, feminism, leftism, neurotic self-loathing, boredom with the staid Swiss lifestyle, material plenty with a deep safety net, have undermined traditional Swiss virtues such as prudence, circumspection, respect for tradition, patriotism, self-reliance, devolution of power, and a fanatical devotion to quality work.
Switzerland succumbed to statism, with the liberal-left activities of the federal government undermining the proud conservatism of many of the cantons that make up the Swiss Confederation. The Swiss public sector has grown proportionately larger than in any other developed country, and the country of erstwhile hard work and thrift is now classified as an "extreme welfare state" (2).
Where welfare is lavish, the young lose their motivation to study and work. Swiss cities are now home to needle parks and throngs of body-pierced native imbeciles aping the worst of America's pop excretions. And where left-liberalism is the guiding beam, Western culture ails, discrimination between values and qualities ends, and grinding chaos starts. And so began Switzerland's devaluation of its unique cultural identity, and its undoing of the population demographics to which this identity has been bound for 800 years.
The gold-plated public assistance trough and the multicultural mushiness have made Switzerland irresistibly attractive to enterprising Third World denizens. Thousands upon hundred of thousands from all corners of the globe started streaming into Switzerland in the 80s, to work or not in unskilled jobs, to build mosques and madrassas with public funds, to live in subsidized housing.
Resident foreigners and temporary foreign workers now make up almost 22% of the 7.5 million Swiss population. Most of them are from European Union countries, but Muslims from Albania, Bosnia, Turkey, Middle East and Africa are now 4.3% of the people. There are sizeable communities of Caribbean, Sri Lankan, Vietnamese, Somali and other unskilled, even primitive, immigrants, refugees and fake refugees –- all from cultures entirely alien to what Switzerland has been and known in the past.
Importing crime
Last year, there were 639 rapes in Switzerland. 309 of the 489 identified perpetrators, i.e. over 63%, were foreigners.
198 homicides were committed in Switzerland in 2006 (3). Of the 226 identified perpetrators, 51% were foreigners. There were 9272 assaults with bodily damage and 8568 identified assailants. Almost 50% of the assailants were Swiss residents of foreign extraction. (4)
All these and statistics on kidnappings, theft, burglary etc —- all the specialty of foreigners-- may be gleaned in the 2006 Statistical Report on Crime, issued by the Swiss Federal Police.
The term "Foreigners" includes the foreign-born as well as the Swiss-born children of such foreigners. Switzerland does not grant birthright citizenship. In this, and in its tough naturalization requirements, Switzerland remains, in some ways, the last remaining outpost of sanity in the Western world.
As there seem to be no accessible statistics as to who the criminal "foreigners" are, one has to build a mosaic picture out of the little bits and pieces that are available.
It is common knowledge here that Albanians and other European Muslims commit crimes far out of proportion to their numbers; indeed, I have been told of muggings and rapes of hikers on pristine mountain trails, committed by gangs of Albanians, Kosovars or Macedonians. The names one reads in drug and smuggling arrest reports are usually Balkan-Muslim or Turkish.
But the Swiss government, let alone the PC-bound press, is not forthcoming with clear detail. Indeed, it muddles national origin distinctions, lest "uncomfortable" facts transpire. Thus the Federal Department of Justice and Police ordered a study of delinquency and nationality that found in 2001 a criminal conviction rate about 12 times higher among asylum seekers (4%), and twice as high (0.6%) among other resident foreigners, compared to Swiss citizens (0.3%).
Given the enormous share of crime by Third World asylum seekers, one would think that a wide consensus existed to shut down this and other immigration-related gates to dystopia. But Switzerland is as PC-bound and multiculti handicapped, as confused about its identity, as the rest of the West is. It shares with the West also a tacit sense of guilt about the fate of Europe's Jews in World War 2, to whom Switzerland refused to provide a refuge from Hitler. It has not been explained how admitting to Switzerland over 300 thousands mostly primitive and Jew-hating Muslims can expiate for indifference to the Nazi slaughter of the Jewish kin of Einstein, Freud, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Wittgenstein, von Neumann, von Mises, and von Stroheim.
When a people throws off its bridle
That 22% of a country's population is foreign born; that large numbers of entirely incompatible and unassimilable people, from Afghanis to Zairians, are given political asylum under fraudulent pretexts; that this foreign population visits an unheard-of crime wave upon its hosts – all these are never the fault of the foreigners but always the fault of a native ruling elite that has lost its way. It's the same in Switzerland as in the United States or Sweden.
The people witness the insanity and grumble, but the elites, with complicity of big business, the school systems and the mass media, have found a way to perpetuate their hold on power and privilege despite the plainly identifiable seeds of disaster they are planting on native soil.
Political parties have arisen in Europe to channel the native populations' discontent with the course charted by their respective elites. Despite massive popular support, the establishment has been successful in marginalizing and demonizing the BNP in Great Britain and the Vlaams Belang in Belgium, while co-opting the Freedom Party in Austria. In France, Jean-Marie Le Pen's National Front has largely self-destructed. In the United States, no party exists that stands athwart the enshrined path to third-worldism and national decline. Leaders such as Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul, who might potentially bring the country back onto a sensible road, have repeatedly failed to galvanize the electorate.
Only in Switzerland, in the Swiss People's Party (Schweizerische Volkspartei, SVP), common sense and national survival have found an effective champion. The New York Times expressed its resulting worry in an October 25, 1999 headline: "Right-Wing Political Party Leads in Swiss Elections, Endangering 40-Year Coalition." The SVP –- anti-immigration, anti-tax, anti-European Union, anti-big government; but pro-traditional values, private gun ownership and armed neutrality –- has never looked back since that 23% electoral victory. In 2003 it won 26.7% of the vote, and is now the strongest political party in Switzerland. In the Swiss elections on 21 October 2007 it may grow yet further.
SVP has a deep bench of articulate, patriotic, and passionate leaders. The most charismatic of them, Christoph Blocher, is Switzerland's most famous and controversial politician as well as serving as the country's current Minister of Justice. He is an outspoken opponent of Switzerland's multiculti policies and anti-"racism" laws, and is therefore a lightning rod for all the haters on the left.
A foreign resident may acquire Swiss citizenship only upon the approval of a local community that has the rights to interview him as to his "Swissness" and to put his proposed citizenship up for a vote. The prospective applicant must have lived in Switzerland legally and crime-free for 12 years, and have paid his taxes. This prudent procedure has become a demolition target for the bien pensant elite in the Swiss federal government. They wish to replace the centuries-old Swiss confederate rights with federal power wielded along the "enlightened," multicultural precepts of the European Union.
Pushing toward the same deconstruction of nationhood is a coalition of Left parties and NGOs, churches and aid groups. Swiss left groups like "SOS Racism" and the "Commission Against Racism" charge that most people denied citizenship are Muslims from the Balkans who received asylum during the ethnic wars of the 1990s. But most of Switzerland's criminals belong in that demographic. Besides, it's the Swiss people in their semi-sovereign communities, where the common local culture and social capital count above all, who ought to be able to decide, counter to their Europhile, multiculti elites, whom they want to absorb into their midst.
And so, against the federal government's and liberal groups' fierce agitation for liberalization of the Swiss immigration and naturalization procedures, SVP mobilized the electorate to reject a respective 2006 referendum initiative by a huge margin, 68%. SVP did not mince words or images in making its case before the electorate either. It had posters with an image of dark-skinned hands grabbing at Swiss passports, and other posters with Osama bin Laden holding a mock Swiss passport. As it were, Osama's brother, Yeslam, does have a Swiss passport.
The SVP also ran newspaper ads with the headline, “Will Muslims soon be in the majority?” The ads warned that with the higher birth rate in Muslim families, Muslims in Switzerland would outnumber Christians within 20 years.
Though all those merely portrayed the actual reality, outraged shrieks of “racism” and “xenophobia" ensued from the solidly Left European press. No matter; the Swiss electorate, particularly in the German speaking, Protestant cantons, refused to be cowed. As a result, as of 2006, asylum applicants who cannot credibly produce identity papers are automatically rejected and barred from regular welfare benefits. If they refuse to leave the country, they face prison terms of up to two years. The amended law also limits immigration for non-EU citizens to highly skilled labor only.
This was the ninth time since 1984 that Switzerland's asylum law has been amended, but the breach had been so wide, for so long, that SVP could not sit on its laurels. Consistent with the Swiss tradition of the direct referendum, in May 2007 SVP launched an initiative to append to the Swiss Constitution a ban on the construction of minarets, i.e. the towers from which mosques' call to prayer are supposed to ensue. The rationale, SVP officers say, is that the minaret is a symbol of a political and aggressive Islam, and of Sharia law that is incompatible with Switzerland's legal system.
In August 2007, SVP launched a direct mail, print and advertising campaign to gather 100,000 signatures supporting another Initiative; this one for the deportation of criminal foreigners after they have served their prison sentences. The measure also calls for the deportation of the entire family of a convicted criminal under the age of 18.
SVP cites official statistics showing that foreigners, who make up 22% of the Swiss population, are four times more likely to commit crimes than Swiss nationals, commit 85.5% of all rapes, 66% of all extortion, 55.5% of all murders and 52.7% of assaults (5). As well, 50% of the $1.5 billion in fraudulent Swiss Social Security claims originate with the immigrant community. Enough is enough.
SVP has visualized its campaign with a poster showing three white sheep standing on the Swiss flag, with one kicking a single black sheep off the flag. The caption reads: "Bringing safety". It has been roundly denounced by the liberal elite and media, which probably means that the Swiss people will, again, give the finger to their hallucinating bien pensants, and go with the SVP.

Brain-dead Stupidity breeds Sabotage
Predictably, SVP's platform and its success at implementing it have caused a permanent apoplexy of malignant rage by the international and Swiss mass media and other establishment institutions. The rage has led to hostile write-ups, blatant lies, mass evasions and distortions of facts, libel and purple prose, worldwide.
"Swiss right in political avalanche" informed the BBC in October 2003, adding for good measure: "The far-right Swiss People's Party (SVP) has won the biggest share of the vote in parliamentary elections, throwing a decades-old system of consensus government into turmoil".
The same BBC -– the acronym stands for British Balkanization Commissariat -- informs in September 2007 that the SVP is driving to enact a new law enabling the deportation of foreign families of convicted criminals. "The Swiss People's Party claims that foreigners commit more crimes than the Swiss, and says this justifies deporting them and their families", comments the British broadcaster that has known no Third World terrorist it hasn't liked, and that, by editorial policy, does not refer to Muhammad but only to Muhammad Peace be Upon Him.
The SVP, of course, does not "claim" anything concerning crimes committed by foreigners. It's statistical facts that state it unequivocally, and the truth, in official statistics, is easily available to the hundreds of BBC's socially promoted journalists.
Condensed from the well-sourced Wikipedia entry this is what was staring the BBC in the face when it was writing of "claims":
At the end of 2006, 5,888 people were interned in Swiss prisons: 31% Swiss citizens, and 69% resident foreigners or illegal immigrants. Based on convictions under criminal law, the crime rate among resident foreigners is higher by a factor of 3.7 than the crime rate among Swiss citizens.
"Swiss rightwingers shake up politics amid 'Fascism' claims," hyperventilates a major news agency, AFP, in a story widely disseminated by various media outlets in Sept.-Oct 2007.
"Far-right Swiss party divides nation on immigrant issue" - charges the International Herald Tribune on October 7, having foregone the alternative title, "Far-left Swiss parties have been dividing nation on immigrant issues for 20 years."
"Swiss deportation policy draws criticism" -- that's from USA Today, which could have equally chosen to highlight how much approval the policy draws from the Swiss people.
"Switzerland: Europe's heart of darkness?", asks Great Britain's The Independent, with the answer imbedded in the question. Switzerland, foams The Independent, "is home to a new extremism that has alarmed the United Nations." Why should that alarm the reader is not explained, and more's the pity as this is the United Nations on whose Human Rights Council sit such human rights paragon nations as Cameroon, Djibouti, Mauritius, Nigeria, Senegal, China, Saudi Arabia, and Cuba.
The Independent further relays that the UN's "special rapporteur on racism" has asked the Swiss government for "an official explanation," and warned earlier this year that "a 'racist and xenophobic dynamic' which used to be the province of the far right is now becoming a regular part of the democratic system in Switzerland".
It is par for the course that the relevant UN apparatchik was one, Doudou Diène, from Senegal, where the use of torture, extrajudicial killings, 'disappearing' political opponents, arbitrary arrests and imprisonment without trial and no accountability are customary and frequent – not to speak of such contributions to the multicultural treasure house as widespread female genital mutilation and trafficking in women as sex and work slaves. If a punch line is required to this joke, the UN had sent another Senegalese special "rapporteur," Bacre Waly N'Diaye, on a two-week mission to the United States, to investigate US police killings and the application of the death penalty.
The Independent nevertheless at least highlights what it's really all about:
"The proposal will be a test case not just for Switzerland but for the whole of Europe, where a division between liberal multiculturalism and a conservative isolationism is opening up in political discourse in many countries. What is at stake here in Switzerland is not merely a dislike of foreigners or a distrust of Islam but something far more fundamental. It is a clash that goes to the heart of an identity crisis which is there throughout Europe and the US. It is about how we live in a world that has changed radically since the end of the Cold War with the growth of a globalised economy, increased immigration flows, the rise of Islam as an international force and the terrorism of 9/11. Switzerland only illustrates it more graphically than elsewhere."
The tsk-tsk chorus is not limited to the usual international suspects. The same political/intellectual/media elite that drives other Western societies down the Third World road to oblivion, is doing its demented job in Switzerland also.
Micheline Calmy-Rey, president of Switzerland under a rotation system, has called SVP's campaign "disgusting," "dangerous" and not corresponding to "Switzerland's multicultural openness to the world." Swiss Interior Minister, Pascal Couchepin, has likened Christoph Blocher to Mussolini. These politicians are not coincidentally from Switzerland's French-speaking region, where the country's liberal center of gravity lies.
L'Hebdo, French Switzerland's most popular weekly, has virtually implemented a jihad against SVP. Its 5 September 2007 issue, for instance, carries the title (translated here): "Blocher; 33 legal infractions" superimposed over Blocher's ¾ page photo; a poisoned full-page anti-Blocher editorial on page 3; anti-SVP cartoons on page 8; anti-SVP jabs on page 15; a feature article on pp. 21-24 entitled "Christoph Blocher; the chronicle of a double failure"; a sidebar on page 22 reproducing five of the 18 anti-Blocher covers the magazine has featured since October 2003; allegations of Blocher's misconduct on pp. 24-25; condemnation of SVP's "xenophobe propaganda" on page 26; a 9-page article, "Blocher; the Contempt of Law" starting on page 28 plus a ½ page ad for an eponymous book on page 111; and an anti-SVP column on page 51.
One cannot dignify this foaming-at-the mouth dementia by reproducing L'Hebdo's arguments; it will suffice to say that they are grotesque, reek of sour grapes, are interspersed with articles or ads about Michael Moore and George Clooney, and all this is underwritten by a panoply of luxury advertisers ranging from Mercedes-Benz to the ultra-luxe watch brand, Hublot. In short, nothing that the reader of the New York Times is not accustomed to on a daily basis.
A people needs a people's party
Yvan Perrin, vice-president of the SVP, wrote an appeal to voters in July '07, entitled (in translation) "The Left and its allies bear the responsibility for the criminality of foreigners." In it, Mr. Perrin stated that in the past Switzerland was one of the safest countries in the world. This was a great economic and quality of life advantage. Mass immigration has brought with it criminality and insecurity. The statistics he cites confirm "that which everybody witnesses every day in media reports": foreigners in Switzerland commit four times as many criminal acts as the Swiss do.
As Perrin puts it, multiculturalism propagates this foreign criminality. The Swiss political agents of multiculturalism are the left and its allies: the socialists, the Greens, and the center-left parties that form the governing coalition with SVP. Forming an alliance of dreamers, they fantasize of a new, "open" and "multicolored" Switzerland, deprived of its traditional foundations. Those who dare to notice the negative effects of massive, uncontrolled immigration are criticized and ostracized, accused of xenophobia and Nazism.
Mr. Perrin then lists the immigration policies of the center-left parties that ran Switzerland for decades, until the advent of the SVP. Their platforms call for open borders based on a universal, uncontrolled right of immigration and naturalization; massive reprogramming of the Swiss population to rid it of "racism"; massive funding for immigrant integration as a "central" function of the State; eliminating the nationality category in police crime reports, and more.
SVP set out to defend the interests of the ordinary Swiss and to restore their security, culture and sense of nationhood. On October 21st, the Swiss electorate will make its choice, once again.

All these articles have one thing in common. Lots of money being spendt on immigrants. Wouldn't it be better to spend the money on families so they can afford to stay home and have their own children?

That's not all they have in common...
they all seem to run parallel to events that happened elsewhere in the islamic world...especially when it's incriminating as hell:
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSL2026497320071020?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&rpc=22&sp=true
...never fails, same pattern...
1) major discovery incriminating them or their allies
2) an "altercation" (usually a setup) mysteriously occurs
3) attention is diverted from said major incriminations and towards something they try to claim as some form of victimization of them and their peers
A very consistent pattern, indeed...since it's been going on for years now...like the Haditha fraud.

The rise of mosques becomes catalyst for conflict across Europe
A minaret planned for a Swiss village has prompted the latest of several disputes over new places of worship

North of Berne in an idyllic Alpine valley cowbells tinkle, a church steeple rises, and windowboxes tumble with geraniums. It has always been like this.
But down by the railway station the 21st century is rudely intruding and the villagers of Wangen are upset.
"It's the noise, and all the cars. You should see it on a Friday night," complains Roland Kissling, a perfume buyer for a local cosmetics company. "I've got nothing against mosques, or even against minarets. But in the city. Not in this village. It's just not right. There's going to be trouble."
The target of Mr Kissling's ire is a nondescript house belonging to the region's Turkish immigrant community. The basement is a prayer room where hundreds of Muslims gather every week for Friday rites.
And in a case that has gone all the way to Switzerland's supreme court, setting a keenly watched precedent, the Turks of Wangen have just won the right to erect a six-metre-high minaret.
"We'll build it by next year. We're still deciding what colour and what material," says Mustafa Karahan, the sole person authorised to speak for Wangen's Turkish Cultural Association. "We don't have any problems. It's the other side that has the problems. We're not saying anything else until the minaret is built."
If Ulrich Schlüer has his way the Wangen minaret will be toppled. An MP from the rightwing Swiss People's party (SVP), the country's strongest, Mr Schlüer has launched a crusade to keep his country culturally Christian.
"Unlike other religions," he argues, "Islam is not only a religion. It's an ideology aiming to create a different legal system. That's sharia. That's a big problem and in a proper democracy it has to be tackled. If the politicians don't, the people will."
