Basic psychology: Behavior that is rewarded is more likely to be repeated. "Nasrallah's deputy: We will continue to fight, take captives," by Roee Nahmias for Israel News:
"Experience has taught us that we will only get our prisoners back through sticking to our positions, engaging in combat and coordinated hostage-taking attempts," Hizbullah's deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qasim said in a speech Sunday.
"If you want to know the value of the latest exchange—listen to what Olmert said regarding (paying) 'a high price' for what happened," Qasim said in his speech, which marked a week since the latest prisoner/body exchange with Israel.
Meanwhile, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, the Israeli soldiers whose abduction sparked last year's war, are still being held as bargaining chips over a year later.
In his speech, the deputy also discussed Lebanese internal politics and Hizbullah's weapons arsenal.
"The problem in Lebanon is Israel and its supporters and not the 'resistance.' The 'resistance' is defensive and it is a response to Israeli aggression and thus he who wants to take care of this must solve the problem by starting with the Israeli threat and Israeli aggressiveness and not with the organization's weapons," the leader said.
Not that we expected him to say, "Y'know, I think we might be part of the problem here."

Those pesky Israelis, always the problem. Obviously the concept of "self examination" does not exist in islam.

....how about " quit attacking and there will be no reason for any of your people to be captured"...
...ooops...too simple...

.......I read an short article in "Debka file" just last week that commented that these two were suspected of being held (still alive, if you can believe that), in Iran....there was no mention of just how these two were moved from their point of capture to Iran....it would not surprise me to learn that Iran has been pulling the strings the entire time....we know Iran certainly has been providing the weapons...."Debka file" is what it is and has often reported on things that later turned out to be entirely correct....

Typical Islamic position, any reaction by their victims is provocation. The reactions that are considered provocation include just breathing without begging for their permission to do so.

"Experience has taught us that we will only get our prisoners back through sticking to our positions, engaging in combat and coordinated hostage-taking attempts,"
If this works so well, why do the Israelis have any of your men as prisoners? That's because Israel continues to take prisoners faster than you can blackmail/combat their releases. So just keep supplying Israel with prisoners, and they will continue to lock them up. Forever if Olmert gets out of the way...

"Experience has taught us that we will only get our prisoners back through sticking to our positions, engaging in combat and coordinated hostage-taking attempts,"
And therin lies the problem. This is obviously an experience that has taught Israel (and many other western nations) nothing. The only effective response to hostage taking is overwhelming violence and destruction on places those on the other side use to hide. Villages and civilians that harbor/assist said hostage takers are part of the problem and therefore should be part of the solution.
Let these people know that kidnapping and/or killing one of ours will result in massive destruction and death of many many of theirs. If it costs them more than they achieve, they will quit doing it. These people don't care about their own wives, elderly or children, they only use them as weapons/shields. So tell the U.N. to STFU and destroy the places where they are hiding.
I believe it was Golda Meir that said "until they love their children as much as they hate us, we won't win". Well I for one think we can beat these people the way we beat Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Overwhelming force and destruction. Any less encourages them and unecessarily prolongs the conflict.

We wouldn't expect anything less from them now would we.
Stop Feeding these People, Force the Arabs foot the Bill and charge them for it. A real Oil for Food Program.
They can pay a respectable price for it or we can drive Our Cars with it after we convert it.
A Barrel of Oil for a Barrel of Wheat sounds fair to me.
If were going to feed our killers we should at least be well paid for it.
I would think the Farmers would be happy at the current Rate Oil is going for.

Is it true that Israel exchanged live POW's for the bodies of the departed Israeli soldiers? Doesn't sound like an even exchange to me.

The Israelis did not exchange live POWs, they gave live TERRORISTS for not the bodies, but the remains of Israeli soldiers that the palis had killed almost a year back.

I must make it clear that I don't think that the Israelis did anything wrong. Any civilized people would have done the same. The palis keep Israeli soldiers prisoners for years so they can have some leverage when they feel like it. And Gilad Shalit is still alive for this reason.
