BBC trolls for Muslim grievance stories

More balanced, objective journalism: at the end of a story on Britain's first Muslim minister, Shahid Malik, being detained at a U.S. airport (thanks to PRCS for the heads-up), the BBC adds this:

Are you a Muslim who has been detained in an American airport? Did you think it was justified? Send us your comments using the form below

Has the BBC ever run any requests like these?

Are you a victim of Islamic terrorism? Did you think it was justified? Send us your comments using the form below

Are you a non-jihadist who has been detained and questioned in an airport because of Islamic terrorism? Are you willing to put up with inconveniences in order to head off another terrorist attack? Send us your comments using the form below

Somehow I doubt it.

Being a Muhammadan with a name like "martyr" is what doesn't inspire confidence!

detained? how does malik define detention?

i have many times been "detained" at airports. ive been searched, had my shoes removed. i've been led off into little rooms and told to wait. i'd define that as detention.
malik "was stopped and searched at Washington DC's Dulles airport "

yeah and so what? we all get stopped and searched. he's so special is he? an MP getting searched he should agree with this, but no, he's muslim and muslims hate the USA, the BBC hates the USA and this is another attempt at brainwashing the british public as to why the USA is so evil.

i'm gonna add a fake muslim comment in support of his detention. i'll call myself naseem.

Folks;

The little old lady from Pasadena gets detained everyday at airports all over America.

If you are a Muslim --"TOUGH" !!!

Posted by: Mackie [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 30, 2007 10:16 AM

everyone post and pretend to be a muslim in support of the searches! i'd be shocked if they print mine.

From the BBC article: "Mr Malik, MP for Dewsbury, West Yorks, had his hand luggage checked for explosives when returning to Heathrow."

Here we go again, special treatment, blind eye treatment is expected by Muslims.

In Canada, my carry on luggage is scanned every single time I go through airport security. My lap top is removed from by bag and electronically "sniffed" for explosives.

Just who caused all this extra security in the first place? Duh!

A solution to this "problem" is simple-have these people searched only by their own co-cultists. Perhaps that will make them feel better and cut down on any grievances.

Note:CAIR may have this idea free of charge.

This is almost as clever as asking for US troop movements in Iraq, who can forget that one!!!

I just love exposing my toothpaste, deoderant and shaving foam in little plastic bags, I love having to take my shoes off, my belt off, be body searched and have my bags searched because it makes us safer.

That is a small price to pay, what a stupid man and of course the BBC having the chance to insult the USA again with such rubbish.

As a Brit I can say that it is up to the USA how the protect their borders and their people, I would not be so arrogant to presume otherwise, I actually want the USA to impose Visas for travel from Europe because there are too many Jihadists living among us, how about that!

Leon, you inspired me. I just wrote them as "Naseem Megahead" and said I happily submitted to being searched on my last visit to Amerik and I was thankful I was being protected from terrorist.
I doubt they'll select mine to be posted.

I sent the BBC article to my US senators and
US representative. Also sent a fake muslim experience to BBC for good measure.

Malik, ever take a minute to think WHY the ENTIRE WORLD now has to drop a couple of valiums and tip-toe through a mega-billion dollar security system just so they can have a reasonable chance at a safe and peaceful flight?

Posted by: JohnAdams [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 30, 2007 12:11 PM

Malik:
"Obviously, there was no malice involved but it has to be said that the USA system does not inspire confidence."

Frankly, sir, it is not YOUR confidence we are trying to inspire. And incidentally, it really doesn't inspire confidence in me, either; I think we should be profiling heavily based on the obvious fact that Islamic men of Middle Eastern, Arab, or Asian origin are ALMOST IN EVERY CASE those found to be bombing or attempting to bomb or plotting to bomb commercial airlines.

" Are you a non-jihadist who has been detained and questioned in an airport because of Islamic terrorism? "

Classic, they ask for non-jihadists to interview.

Doesn't their request in that sentence say it all.

They are admitting that jihadists are in the airports !

Thank you, is all I can say. I don't know how so many educated people can't or won't acknowledge these double standards. It racks the brain.

In a BBC radio interview recently, Malik, one of several Muslims spoken to in order to show how normal they were said that his sole ambition was to do what was best for the interests of the British people. Wondering what he meant exactly by our best interests I had a momentary vision of the entire population of the UK with their bums up, banging their heads on the floor, in the direction of Mecca.

The bbc are nothing but a leftist news outlet. They are biased, weak bottom feeders.

as per my post in the "Questions for a journalist" thread,
weigh this set of recent articles, along with WSJs recent one by elizabeth holmes (and that of the NYSlimes opine I sub-posted by paul krugman & his frantic implications)...
makes one think that a desperate propaganda offensive is under way.

Malik was "detained" at a U.S. airport and "his luggage was searched"? Oh, the horror!

If he was blindfolded, handcuffed, hauled off to a windowless basement room, and subjected to a full body cavity search, then he may, I think, have some slight cause for grievance. Is that what happened? I urgently await an answer.

angloirishslav

here's my email to malik

Dear Mr Malik

I'm interested to know more about your "detention" at Washington Dulles airport.

The BBC and your own press release has been very vague regarding your "detention". Was this intentional? Millions of non muslims are "detained" on a daily basis travelling in and out of the USA everday. I have been "detained" on many times. How do you define detention? How long were you "detained"? Where were you "detained"?

Do you think that British MP's are above the law of other nations? Do you think that Muslims should not be searched at airports?

This appears to be a fake story which you have concocted to further islamicise the UK and distance the British people from the USA, our natural cousins.

Please release a more detailed and accurate press release of your "detention", not your vague version which the BBC is so eager to lap up.

Yours sincerely

Are you a Islamic terrorist? Did you think it is justified? We'll totally ignore you in the Western media.

" 'Are you a non-jihadist who has been detained and questioned in an airport because of Islamic terrorism? '....They are admitting that jihadists are in the airports !"

happyinfidel, if you re-read the post you'll notice that this was actually Robert's parodic take on BBCs silly request, which only asks for "Muslims" who have been
detained at American airports. Actually acknowledging that violent jihadists exist and they are the reason why air travel is such a misery for everyone, not just law-abiding Muslims, would be far too much to ask for. No, the BBC would rather continue to propagate the pitiful myth that Muslims are being singled out for no reason other than that they talk and dress funny.

A friend of mine who is in the U.S. military was detained at a domestic airport in the U.S., a few months after 9/11. He was traveling in uniform, had all his I.D., and is most definitely NOT a Muslim. His carry-on luggage was checked over and over again. When he finally complained about how long it was taking, the security person snapped, "You of all people should understand this!"

Yeah.

BTW, replying to that BBC request with a fake Muslim I.D. is a great idea. I shall post as "Sheikh Muhammed Ali Baba Ganoush Muhammed," and complain bitterly that I was briefly detained at a Minnesota airport and NOT subjected to a full body-cavity search by two blond Midwestern hunks.

Anything for the cause...:-)

a story on Britain's first Muslim minister, Shahid Malik, being detained at a U.S. airport.....

I object at this man being called a minister, a minister is a Christian word.....

Muslims are trying to make Islam seem the same as Christianity...they are now saying ministers, and they have sometimes changed Allah's name to God...
Allah is NOT the same God of the Christians, he was one of 360 gods and Mohammad chose Allah because he was the god of agriculture, war and the sword.. so we can see the direction that Mohammad was heading even before he gathered enough people to become a force...

Posted by: Gaye [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 7:41 AM

Well, as far as I am concerned they should stop every Muslim whether he be an man, woman or child.
Never before have we had such world wide problems with any one race or religion and if they want us to trust them then they should start doing something about the hundreds of clerics, leaders and Imams world wide who preach hate and slaughter all infidels..
Some muslims say that they are peaceful, then why the hang are all these peaceful muslims not out there protesting about the teaching from these men, they have no difficulty getting out there and protesting, rioting and killing when some pathetic little things is done against them...
I would personally not let them in the country until they get rid of all their hate books, which means that they would have to get rid of all their Qurans, and other holy books and until on mass, world wide they have declared war on those who teach hate against the infidel.. of course they wont they are to take the world by force...The Quran tells them to..

Mr. Malik forgot to wear his burqa?

Gaye wrote: "I object at this man being called a minister, a minister is a Christian word....."

Um, Gaye, read the context: he is a "minister" as in cabinet minister in the British Parliment. A high-up member of the government, in other words.

If you're unfamiliar with the terminology pertaining to governments other than that of your own country, then you need to educate yourself. This is an international site concerned with an international problem. Comments like that (not to mention your "man, woman, or child" comment) just make us sound like bigoted, uninformed hicks, which is precisely what our detractors (i.e. the Islamists and their looney-Left allies)want.

Ah!!! now i see the reason he released his pathethic press release! to deflect attention away from his squandering of british tax payer money to portray himself as the victim of western "islamophobia" and "racism". he was never detained, this is a lie, he knew he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and turned on the "islamophobe" cloaking device.

nice one brit! send him an email, i did.
