Red Sox Jihad

RedSoxJihad.jpg

This is just weird. Why would someone bring a Saudi flag to the Boston Red Sox victory rally?

Go Yankees!

(Thanks to Hot Air.)

Yet another reason to hate the Red Sox-obviously Illah aided their victory!

Right after some Saudi prince realizes he has spare change in his pocket from the latest mosque building project and buys the team.

ISLAMSFORLOSERS,

I would laugh if I didnt think it was a real possibilty.

Posted by: Elric66 [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 11:14 AM

obviously a muslim saudi national supporting the red sox.
i suppose this is similar as to when english teams (say man u) play in the euro matches and you will have other team banners supporting them (say an english flag with LCFC emblazoned onto it)
doubt this is a call for jihad just some saudi nationalist. which i guess you could call a jihadist!

I was waiting for this day with fear. It is the equivolent to the "John 3:16" banners that you see at football games.

Not very funny.

It usually takes about 4 or 5 months.

Then I know it's time to put on a new pair.

Posted by: Shy Guy [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 11:32 AM

The text on the flag is.......

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله
la ilaha ill allah muhammadun rasul allah
"There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his Messenger"

It does a ripe target for public ridicule however!

Posted by: The Commissioner [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 11:36 AM

Much as I dislike Sa'udi Arabia, it is still within the realm of possibility that some immigrant is just saying, "Look, guys, I came all the way from Arabia and I like the Sox, too!"
I've seen other countries' flags thrown up by immigrants at sports rallies.

Kepha ...

There's a huge Harvard club in Saudi and a ton of students at HU that are serious Sox fans, so I'm inclined to give a benefit of the doubt on this one, too. Though ... its weird. It just is.

However, we must not lose our sanity here, Robert ...

Go Yankees????? Go Yankees?????

Look, as they're saying now that New York has just demolished its own team by firing Torres and losing a bench coach (and A-rod, not a loss) ...

THE SOX ARE THE NEW NEW YORK!!!

When a poll as taken after the game, most people thought that the 2008 and 2009 teams will be better than either the 2004 or 2007 teams.

The Sox will pass up the "temptation" of A-rod, who imposed himself on their 8th inning to get the max audience (he won't be forgiven for that by Sox fans).

So, the team will be finance-fluid, young and strong, with a superior older team. The team turned around with the Indians when Papi and Schilling called a meeting and got everybody focussed.

I'm stuck with the Dajjal Rays down here.

The Commissioner said:
"It is the equivalent to the "John 3:16" banners that you see at football games."

Call me a ‘dyed-in-the-wool’ Christian if you will but to me there is a vast difference between the satanic message on the Saudi flag:

"There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his Messenger"

And the thoroughly benevolent message of God’s love in John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever shall believith in Him shall have everlasting life”

To me the later message of potential salvation for all (me – you – and the misguided Saudi supporter) is much more appealing (even at the World Series or football game) than the message of eternal damnation epitomized by the green Saudi flag. Big difference though I also understand mine is an opinion that will surely not be agreed upon by all!

Posted by: descendantofacrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 12:29 PM

descendantofacrusader,

Lets not forget, Allah's message on the Saudi flag is written above a sword.

....obviously a confused Muslim...he was told to come to the Death to America rally....he saw a large crowd and in his infinite wisdom decided this was the place to be....poor soul...he could not figure out why there were no burka babes strolling about....he really became frustrated when he could not find a foot bath....

How long before we see "Qur'an 2:191" or "Qur'an 4:91" or "Qur'an 9:5" banners at football games? Instead of the guy with the big rainbow-colored hair, it'll be some jihadi waving his sword around.

It will be the same thing, since all religions are the same, all religous books are the same, all religious quotes have the same meaning, all people have the same goals and desires.

Robert a Yankees fan? Say it 'aint so, Joe!

I can't read what that Muslim's sign says. Wonder what it says? "Re-sign Lowell"?

Posted by: FredIsinglass [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 1:13 PM

His sign may say "Go Yankees", but his message conveys something else.

Maybe this Saudi was in Boston to attend the Sabeel conference at Old South Church last weekend:

"Major protest planned tomorrow at Old South Church"
Thursday, October 25, 2007
From the Jewish Advocate:

Scores of local organizations are planning to rally outside the Old South Church in Boston this Friday in response to a weekend conference sponsored by Sabeel, the controversial Christian Palestinian human rights group.

The conference, “The Apartheid Paradigm in Palestine-Israel: Issues of Justice and Equality,” will feature Sabeel leaders and the Reverend Desmond Tutu, who, along with Sabeel, has been criticized for his portrayal of theIsraeli-Palestinian conflict. More than 50 organizations plan to join in Friday’s demonstration.

“We respect the right of the Old South Church to have the conference because we believe in freedom of speech, but we absolutely denounce the message,” said Nancy K. Kaufman, executive director of the Jewish CommunityRelations Council of Greater Boston. “The public needs to understand that [Sabeel] is anti-Israel and against Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.”

What a good way to ruin a parade by showing that flag, which represents to me all kinds of oppression------of women, free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press and perhaps the most important right of all, the right to drink good beer. Yep, that flag at the Red Sox parade is one ugly sight to behold.

This guy heard that Colorado was massacred, and automatically assumed that it must have been Islamic Jihadists who did it. I guess he though it would be an Arabian-style Rally.

A sign of Evil things to come.

There are plenty Jihadies who support Western teams, it doesn't mean their ultimate intentions are clean.

"This is just weird. Why would someone bring a Saudi flag to the Boston Red Sox victory rally?"

Well, it's like going to someones house and p*ssing on their carpet. It's a great way of displaying contempt, and ensuring they never get rid of the odour of your unwanted presence.

Posted by: Monty [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 1:53 PM

Bunch of Islamophobes! All of you! You should be ashamed of yourselves! Has it not occured to any of you Muslim haters that the man hoisting that flag was a Joooooooooooooooooooooooooo?

Posted by: Ynkedoodl2 [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 2:07 PM

It's certainly not unexpected coming from a city that sold a parcel of taxpayer owned land far below market value for the purpose of building a mosque...

"Go Yankees!"

Say it isn't so Robert!

Posted by: Cornelius [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 2:23 PM

Am I wrong, or didn't Robert cheer the Sox on a couple weeks back after they defeated my beloved Indians? Talk about a fair-weather fan!

Since he's one of my heroes, I'm inclined to give Robert a pass on his indiscretion--this time!

In the future, however, please observe the standard definition of the Axis of Evil, which goes: Yankees, Red Sox, Steelers, Ravens (although not necessarily in that order).

Regards,

HAID

Up until this moment, I thought my spite for the Red Sox was exceeded only by my loathing of the Yankees. But the presence of that flag in this celebration trumps both of those serious aggravations.

What's that person doing there with that flag? "Showing the flag," as it were? Flashing a clear signal to someone out there that he is innocent, should something untoward happen in the crowd as if to say "Please shoot/blow-up someone else?" A message to the folks back home? How many other sporting events has this happened at? Or perhaps I'm more paranoid than usual today and a Saudi fan is just a Saudi fan with a flag.

And yet, the presence of that flag there on that day DOES seem weird. And given what that flag stands for, it is certainly an affront, from the proclamation of its putative prophet and the ideology he concocted right down to the sword which underpins the design.

I wonder who else was taking note of this fellow?

Posted by: Chatillon [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 3:14 PM

Haid--

I think that was Greg, not Robert-- that was the only other recent baseball reference I remember.

Posted by: MarisolJW [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 3:22 PM

If I may pick nits, the Saudi Arabian flag is green but it depicts crossed swords over a palm tree (a date palm I'm guessing). the photo is fuzzy but it doesn't seem to show swords or trees. I invite the other wags here to translate the arabic on the depicted flag....fire away.

Posted by: pismopal [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 4:42 PM

pismopal:

No, the Saudi flag is the one pictured above. It says "There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet," and underneath that there is a single sword.

The Saudi flag doesn't depict a tree and has only one sword.

Cordially

I was in error about the flag. It appears that the crossed swords tree flag is the official emblem but it is not depicted on the national flag.

Posted by: pismopal [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 31, 2007 4:51 PM

What about the possibility that this is not just a fan, but a message placed prominently for bad guys to see? Has anyone passed this info alomg to DHS?

Wonder what would happen if, some strain of toxin was released in a celebration crowd such as this. Not saying it did happen, but this flag makes you wonder.
