Losing his chops. From Reuters (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York jazz musician and martial arts instructor was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday for agreeing to help train al Qaeda fighters in hand-to-hand combat.Tarik Shah, 44, a Muslim born and raised in New York, received the maximum sentence in Manhattan federal court under a plea agreement with U.S. prosecutors in which they dropped one of the terrorism charges against him.
He pleaded guilty in April to one count of conspiring to support al Qaeda.

Al Qaeda getting help from a musician? They must really be desperate. A hard-line Islamist would say that creating or enjoying music is harem and back it up with some hadith quotes.

It's something I wonder about, the spread of
Islam in the black jazz community. Art Blakey,
Dollar Brand (Abdullah Ibrahim), Yusef Lateef,
cats like that. There really is no place for
Jazz in islam.

He deserves a rimshot.
If not a real one.
No Koran, please.

Funny how they can't help but TRY to list "musician" first as if he's being persecuted. Typical PC.
Had it been a REAL report, the "musician" bit would've been secondary, not "martial arts".
But hey...it's reuters...who refused to call terrorists terrorists.
'nuf sed.

"Musician gets 15 years for backing al Qaeda"
Robert deserves the rim shot for this outrageous pun.
(Where can we get tickets for their next concert?)

No doubt in prison this joker will help in converting fellow thugs to the religion of enlightenment and peace.

...the following was the end of an article sent in by Margaret Davis to a jazz publication in January 2006.......
"I am deeply disturbed about Tarik Shah's plight, and I also apologize for not speaking out on behalf of the other defendants as strongly as I have for Tarik, a musician and someone I've known and respected for years. Knowing him makes any charges of intended violence impossible to believe. But I also know that in a situation like this, it really shouldn't matter whether we know someone personally or what his profession might be.
Sincerely,
Margaret Davis
musicmargaret@earthlink.net "
.....I might send an email to Ms Davis to remind her....The Muslim terrorist supporter confessed...believe it or not......

Send him to Saudi Arabia where his music will be appreciated and the taxpayers here can be relieved of the burden of his upkeep.

This is a perfect example of why Islam is not compatiple with a liberal democratic society.
If a Muslim can be born and raised in a Western society and still can't accept the simple principles that that society operates on, than why are they here.
All Muslims are time bombs. they can explode even in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th generations.
Muslim immigration should be stopped now before it's to late to stop. It's to late for Europe, but not for us.

One down, several more to go.
But it's a start.

Well, do re me!!
This wingnut just doesn't grasp the fact that MUSIC is outlawed by the Kuran and that any REAL Islamic group would love to behead him for such a flagrant infraction of Islamic law.
The delusions some people harbor about Islam--it makes you wonder sometimes.
