It's "racial profiling," of course. What race are Muslims again?
Anyway, the civil rights advocates evidently want the LAPD to pretend that people plotting violence and terror are just as likely to be found in Presbyterian churches and Hare Krishna centers are they are in mosques. Feel safer?

LOS ANGELES - Civil rights advocates criticized plans by the Los Angeles Police Department to map the city's Muslim communities, calling it racial profiling.The LAPD's counterterrorism bureau plans to identify Muslim enclaves in order to determine which might be likely to become isolated and susceptible to "violent, ideologically based extremism," said Deputy Chief Michael P. Downing on Thursday.
"We want to know where the Pakistanis, Iranians and Chechens are so we can reach out to those communities," said Downing, who heads the counterterrorism bureau.
Downing said the plan is still in its early stages, but the LAPD wants to work with a Muslim partner and intends to have the data assembled by the University of Southern California's Center for Risk and Economic Analysis.
Downing testified about the plan before a U.S. Senate committee on Oct. 30.
In his testimony, Downing said his bureau wanted to "take a deeper look at the history, demographics, language, culture, ethnic breakdown, socioeconomic status and social interactions" of the city's Muslim communities.
There are an estimated 500,000 Muslims in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.
On Thursday, several Muslim groups and the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California sent Downing a letter expressing "grave concerns" about the program.
"Singling out individuals for investigation, surveillance, and data-gathering based on their religion constitutes religious profiling that is just as unlawful, ill-advised and deeply offensive as racial profiling," said the letter.
It was signed by representatives of the ACLU of Southern California; Muslim Advocates, a national association of Muslim lawyers; the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California and the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The plan "basically turns the LAPD officers into religious political analysts, while their role is to fight crime and enforce the laws," said Hussam Ayloush, head of the Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, who signed the letter.
Hussam Ayloush is the kindly, good-natured fellow who repeatedly refused, during a radio "debate" with me, to condemn Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups.
However, another group, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, is considering working with the LAPD on the project."We will work with the LAPD and give them input, while at the same time making sure that people's civil liberties are protected," said Salam al-Marayati, the council's executive director.
Oh, how nice. Al-Marayati is a much more subtle fellow than Ayloush, but ultimately they're cut from the same cloth.

Why is the impetus to "reach out" never placed on Islamic communities?
It seems the "moderates" in Karachi and Lahore are upset that no one from Britain or the US "reached out" to help them after the recent earthquakes and have offered little to no aid in rebuilding. Our failure to "reach out" has driven them into the arms of the radicals.
Is their only answer: you made me do it?

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. Today we'll begin with The Koran, the most important "holy" book of the Islamic creed. First, note that the Koran does not actually ever use the word unbeliever to refer to us non-Muslims. It calls us "kafirs." Write that word down, please.
The Koran defines the kafir (that's us...you and me)as someone who does not believe in their prophet muhammad, as a result of which we are to be:
Hated 40:35 They who dispute the signs of Allah [kafirs] without authority having reached them are greatly hated by Allah and the believers. So Allah seals up every arrogant, disdainful heart.
In other words, the Muslims are required by their holiest book to hate non-Muslims.

Please note that as the Koran defines it, kafir is not a neutral word. A kafir is not merely someone who does not agree with Islam, but a kafir is evil, disgusting, and the lowest form of life. The Kafir is you and me. And according to Islam, we can be tortured, killed, lied to and cheated.
We will now look at some examples from the other Muslim holy books, the Hadith and the Sira, but before we proceed, are there any questions?

All I have to say to the folks at the ACLU is be careful here ... a lynch mob doesn't see shades of gray. When we are hit again I certainly wouldn't want to be associated with a group that appears to be in league with our attackers. Who knows whom you are protecting, and where the next attack will come form ... although we have some good ideas. If you lie down with dogs ... you will get fleas. The good news here is someone has some brains in the LAPD, and a good idea about where it will come from as well.

Too bad these fabulous civil liberties folks don't slam the violence perpetuated by Islam. THAT would be useful, as OUR rights are the ones actually being violated every minute of the day with the sword of the prophet aimed at the heads of us and our loved ones day after day. Mass slaughter of the "unbelievers" by Islamic acts of terrorism is one form of 'racism' that these people apparently approve of!
But, heavens, it would be an utter crime for the civil liberties crowd to be useful in any way, shape, or form. We might allow criminals and terrorists to get CAUGHT. We can't have THAT, now, can we??? CAN WE??? Didn't think so.

All muslims should have been mapped, and muslim enclaves identified, starting on 9/12/2001.
I'm hoping the LAPD's use of the phrase "reach out to" is a euphemism for "keep our eye on".
Until islam is de-listed as a religion, and called by the correct term - cult, ideology, islamofascism or whatever - the ACLU and muslims will continue to protest "religious profiling".

Yankeedoodle2 I have a question. I thought it was western imperialism that caused all the anger and hate Muslims feel for the west. Didn't all of this start when we bad intolerant Christians invaded Spain and started the Crusades? Isn't this amazing? We don't have to monitor Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, or other groups in this country to determine which might be likely to become isolated and susceptible to "violent, ideologically based extremism, but we do Muslims.
It's an admission that we have something to worry about when it comes to Muslims. Yet we're still importing them into our country. There might be 500,000 Muslims in Southern Califirnia today, But there'll be millions a few decades from now. And when that happy day comes, they won't accuse anyone of racial profiling, they'll call it "making war on Islam".

What exactly is “racial profiling” as described by the ACLU? (http://www.aclu.org/racialjustice/racialprofiling/index.html ) In their words:
”Racial Profiling is any police or private security practice in which a person is treated as a suspect because of his or her race, ethnicity, nationality or religion. This occurs when police investigate, stop, frisk, search or use force against a person based on such characteristics instead of evidence of a person's criminal behavior.”(bold mine) They say further: “This despite the fact that people of color are no more likely than whites to use or sell drugs, and Arabs Muslims and South Asians are no more likely than whites to be terrorists. - We must end the practice of racial profiling.”
So what is this ‘profiling’ about, that it makes them adamant about ending the practice? Are we profiling when we restrict freedoms for criminals? Are they an ‘ethnic’ group by their definition of having committed crimes? Is their view that Muslims are no more likely than ‘whites’ to be terrorists entirely correct? Have they any per-capita statistics to back his up? Is it ‘profiling’ to be suspicious of a real threat, a present danger, to our safety when flying and a group of Moslem men act suspiciously? Did this ever happen before, and the planes were flown into tall buildings, killing all aboard? Should this suspicion then be eliminated from our brain cells, as if it never happened? We know ‘racial’ profiling on the basis of color is wrong because it paints everyone of a skin color with the same broad brush. We are not equating ‘racism’ here with ‘profile suspicion’ of a group that has repeatedly threatened us with violence and death, and then carried out these threats. When the Moslem masses chant in the streets “Death to America!” we must take them seriously with what they threaten us, in their own words. (They lie habitually, but I believe them!)
Profiling by ‘race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion’, is not the same as profiling those who ‘in their own words’ have willfully chosen to condemn us and wish us harm. It is wrong to blanket profile when there is no cause, but when there is cause, profiling is not only necessary but the sane thing to do if we value our lives and safety. The Moslem world has given us cause over and over again, and it is willful blindness to follow the recommendations of the ACLU to treat both the threats, and actual execution of those threats, as “uncharacteristic of evidence of a person’s criminal behavior.” Of course they must be profiled, because they are a clear and present danger to our society. They explicitly told us they do not accept our free way of life, nor our democratic principles, our freedom of speech, our constitutional government, nor our ‘man made’ laws; all of which the Moslems define as inferior to their Allah’s laws as conceived by the prophet Mohammed. They told us this, point blank, and with barbaric death squads who blow themselves up to kill. How is it ‘racist’ to identify the enemy by their own words and actions, just because this enemy has chosen to accept the words of a 7th century prophet as Allah’s law rather than our democratic form of government? The ACLU does not have a case. There is no justification for vilifying us because we profile Middle Eastern Muslims. They want to be ‘profiled’ so they could sue us in return. For those who remain, and accept our freedoms and our laws, then reach out to them. I agree with LAPD.

500,000 Muslims in L.A? Do any of you know why there are so MANY immigrants that are Muslims?
Well let me guess! It's because they were told in their home countries to move to the USA so they can be aids in the takeover of our country! So they can lie and pretend to love this country while in their hearts they are gleefully planning to take it over and make it an Islamic country.
This has happened or is happening in every country in the world. A list obtained from CAIR shows how many Muslims live in every country in the world and only little nonentites and small islands in the oceans are without Muslims. Too many countries are 100% Muslim. Why would Muslims in warm countries want to move to Norway? Denmark? Estonia? To help in the takeover of course. BAN MUSLIM IMMIGRATION! Write to GWB and tell him the facts! Unless of course that religion advocates world domination, forced conversion, servitude or murder in which case it would be grossly irresponsible to do anything except that which is being done by the LAPD.
The LAPD is in line for a great deal of criticism and pressure should they proceed with this plan - let's hope they have the courage to follow through and protect the citizens of LA.

Without looking much farther,this has all the earmarks of the out reach program that the FBI is instituting in the Muslim community in the Steve Emerson article on DHIMMIWATCH today.
Certainly law enforcement would and should make some inroads into the Islamic community,butif you approach them in a negative way that creates a hostile environment than you may find yourself being much less effective when dealing with radicals within the Muslim Communities.
The way law enforcement is being received by Muslims can also send up flags of concern. Some of this is right out of the COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) playbook of which several law enforcement agencies received grants to go door to door and find out what the communities biggest concerns were in their neighborhoods. COPS teams also conducted community out reach meetings that allowed people to air their complaints in discussion groups.. The first COP grants came with "The Violent Crime Control & Law Enforcement Act" that passed both the House, and the Senate, authorizing $8.8 billion in 1994. Much of the learned program procedures are in place today and can be effective in interacting with the Islamic community. A lot of issues that helped to get this program going was, and is the gang problem .

If the LAPD had had any street smarts they would have sub-contracted this research out to a social agency and used that "blind" to pretend that the "study" was being done to help get more welfare benefits into the Muslim communities.
Tipping your hand as directly as the LAPD did only guarantees a predicatable p.c. backlash.

The role of the police is indeed to fight crime, and since Islam is a criminal organization they haven't even commenced the fight yet. And since our laws are increasingly watered down to make accomodations for the sharia I take issue with that and insist that our law, the law of the land, (for the Muslims 'man made law') is followed to the letter and no exceptions or excuses made for Muslims.
Shape up or ship out.

The role of the police is indeed to fight crime, and since Islam is a criminal organization they haven't even commenced the fight yet. Time for another book/dvd mailing campaign to place a crash course in the glories of Islam at the disposal of our law enforcement? And, what power to persuade would a certain factually indisputable book have upon our our city mayors, our ministers, our educators?
If the recent campaign against radical Islam on college campuses provoked a flashpoint of discussion and invited scrutiny of the methods and aims of Islamic supremacists, then, think what could be gained by a massive outreach to law enforcement and influential citizens across the country. Via internet webcast or teleconferencing or even a conference with video uplink in major cities would surely draw a lot of people into the discussion and provoke scrutiny on the problems of radical Islam.
Any effort now to head off the burgeoning problem of radical Islam might save America and her allies from becoming ensnared and hamstrung like the EU.

not dissing your post but highlighting that a couple of thousand of them can do a lot of serious damage, plus how many americans are willing to get their hands dirty? i reckon a similar number in that area of a couple of thousand, the cops would have to end up calling on the natl guard to put down the mass riots, bombs and random house burnings by muslims, plus they would need to keep order amongst the american non muslim population. to appease the muslims they would have to drop a heavy amount of american patriots defending their homes. think thats crazy? katrina residents were disarmed by paramilitary cops for trying to rescue fellow citizens and disarmed for defending their property.

Cops' purpose is to combat the enemy of civility: crime, evil, wrongdoing, etc...
Combating crime means getting intel on that enemy,
getting intel also means mapping out enemy positions, among other factors...
So...with that simple summary said, which is indisputable, one is left with one question for these "civil-rights" advocates" which are anything BUT:

Great! Pepper the US with cultural zones (France has over 700) where the rule of law is suspended in favor of sharia perversity. Let the koranimals set up giant mosques around same, and allow Dar Islam recognition.

According to a variety of sources, the Islamic population of the United States is anywhere from .5% to 2.2% of the US population. If you split the number, and say that one percent of the US population is Islamic, and that the population of LA is 15 million, then we're looking at 150,000 Islamic people in LA. If it is 2.2 percent, then we're looking at 360,000 Islamic people in LA. Further, California has 227 Mosques, and its a good bet most of them are in LA, so the population could be higher in LA than the general population statistics.
According to CAIR only 25% of the Islamic people in the U.S. are Arab. So, profiling by race is not an expedient method of identifying potential terrorists. We have to remember that the Islamic community has been actively recruiting in American prisons for more than fifty years, and that they count 30% of Islamic persons as American converts, and they are mostly African American, since they targeted a disaffected population for conversion. But the Eastern European and Southern Russian Moslems are fair and blue eyed. The fair Moslems have been illegally crossing into California through our border, which leaks like a sieve.
500,000 Moslems in Southern California? I think the LAPD is correct. I wonder if they are starting to see a rise in crime in predominantly Islamic areas, or if they are finding indications of other activities when they respond to calls. Can't you just see pockets of LA becoming uncontrollable like the neighborhood in the Netherlands? France? Germany? Sweden? London?
