The intrepid Annie Jacobsen has the truth about the latest airline profiling case (thanks to all who sent this in):
This 12-page police report explains why American Airlines should never pay these men a dime. It also explains why several names should be added to the 800,000+ name no-fly list — if they haven't been added already.Aviation security is a national security issue. There should be a zero tolerance policy in effect for anyone who acts like a bully in airports and on airplanes. Shame on the attorneys who represent people like this and shame on the journalists and news organizations who belittled the female passenger who opted out of having her kids bullied by a drunk actor named Dave Al-Watan. (Each flight attendant interviewed by the police felt the behavior of Al-Watan and his cohorts was belligerent, as did at least one other male passenger interview by police).
The men, it turns out, had been hired by the U.S. Military as "authentic Iraqi" actors in Iraq-war, "role-playing scenarios." I asked a U.S. Federal Air Marshal what this meant: "Most likely these guys were at Ft. Irwin playing terrorists and insurgents," he said.
They should have left their role-playing at the army base. Instead, they tried auditioning for FOX news (see police report page 3).
Read the report here and judge for yourself.

I salute the Captain for backing up his crew.
This is why it's best to wait for the report before assuming someone "overreacted".
The passengers were very good at noticing something was terribly amiss with that whole picture, not some "hysterical" person previously alluded to by others who couldn't wait to throw their 2 cents worth in (which is now worth nothing and they now have egg on their faces) for their own ego stroking.
Bottom line...
They brought it upon themselves,
the suspicions were warranted,
the passengers were justified,
the crew was justified,
the police were justified,
American Airlines is MORE than justified,
there's no legit case here, or even an argument...
one thing for sure...
if they were "auditioning for FoxNews" they're likely to get more attention than they counted on...they'll tear those fools apart.
Let Bill O'Reilly loose on them...and see how far that frivolous lawsuit goes...LOL
AMR should tell those morons to shove it.

When you're on a plane, you keep quiet, don't annoy the cabin crew and pass the time reading, watching TV, sleeping or downing as many of those little bottles of wine as they'll let you have.

Let them walk. Or, if time is of the essence, take a camel.

I'll bet the Sky Marshal's report will confirm all this. Sky Marshals are probably equipped with miniature film recorders (in a baseball cap, lapel pin, etc.)that will confirm the provocative behavior of these passengers. Someday the Flying Imams Act and the The Mile High Attitudes Act will make it to You-Tube.

This was definitely a set-up, especially since the first thing out of some of their mouths was, "I'm suing".
If that man had behaved that way towards me, I would have taken my kids and gotten off the plane, too. He was trying to intimidate her and it worked.
9/11 happened. Everyone knows they have to behave themselves so as not to set off any alarm bells. It's not wrong to expect the same of all people, regardless of their religion.
As for the man who asked lots of questions of his seat-mate: I want someone like that on any plane, train, subway or bus trip that I take.

It appears this Dave Alwatan was the lightning rod in this show. Drunk and starring at the woman with the 2 children for 3 or 4 minutes intently made her so nervous that she departed the plane before the door was closed and then requested the harbor police after debarking.
Then you have flight attendant Anthony Katsonas who has been an attendant for 7 years and has flown several times with Arabic or middle eastern looking persons before and did not feel uncomfortable. This was different however with Alwatan directing an intense stare at him as he gave survival instructions to the passengers, But of course the real kicker was when Alwatan put a blanket over his head after the woman with the 2 children had already exited the aircraft .
The crew parlayed together just as the plane was leaving the gate and said they all felt the same discomfort and most saw Dave Alwatans behavior and putting the blanket over his head. They all agreed to advise the airlines captain of their concerns together.
Flt. 590's Captain John Plummer noted in the report that he had complete trust in his crew and this was the first time in twenty years of flying that such an incident had occurred on his flight. He also felt that given the behavior of these folks the crew and flight attendants did not overreact. A lawsuit should at least be filed against Dave Alwatan based on his behavior on the aircraft as reported by several witnesses.

More from above:
Dave Alwatan should have been arrested for being drunk and disorderly and acting in a threatening manner while aboard an aircraft based on the witnesses and the full report.

I don't care if they were Buddhist monks, if someone in a group acts in a suspicious manner, they should be thrown off an airliner. Flying is not a "right", it is a business and they have the right to refuse service.
These guys were obviously spoiling for a fight.
Feeling discriminated against because you are moslem? Go back to the country of your origin. Simple answer.

It is always a crap shoot for a company to either "settle" or take a chance and let a case go to one of our famous American schizophrenic juries that will either laugh at the plaintifs, or award them each a billion dollars. Easy to say "don't give them a dime" but what about the prospect of their getting a huge amount?
Tort law needs a big change in order to put a stop to this cheesy practise.

So they do all these things in order to be noticed, and then they sue for being profiled. It reminds me of that old canard where the apologists of Islam declare that the Western, non Arabic speaker cannot possibly understand the koran because he doesn't understand the original Arabic, and that the radicals who do read Arabic...like natives!....who wreak devastation and terror upon those of us who don't...MISUNDERSTAND Islam...even after committing their Arabic holy book to memory! La tête me tourne!

Well, it makes sense in a bizarre way (or is that frantic)...
they have to find alternative ways of re-establishing the laundered-loot-route that got cut off by the eeeeeevil Bush and the eeeeeeeevil joooozzzzzz...
...and since the #1 get-rich-quick scam in the US is to sue someone, they figured it stood to reason they could hide behind it, with the hopes of restoring business-as-usual.

I am a commercial airline pilot for a major US carrier. I can assure you that these people continue to test our defenses, procedures and resolve. We must remain vigilant in the face of the forgetful, the naysayers, and the politically correct. Amaerican(whom I do not fly for) should spend it's last penny if necessary to fight this injustice. Our advesary is patient and cunning. We(pilots)do watch who gets on,and how they behave.....trust me.

The Airline pulled a bunch of Jerks off the Plane for playing "Head Games" with the Passengers.
The Airline will make them look like even bigger Jerks in Court.
It is getting the MSM to convey the fact that these Guys are Jerks is the problem.
Being a Jerk transends every Ethnic Group. Considering the "reputation" of air travelers in general. Can you Imaging how big a Bunch of Jerks these Clowns had to be to get kicked off the Plane??? The Authorities already go through a Song and Dance Routine just because they ARE Arab.
The Airlines need to Post rules of behavior clearly stating that Clowns being Jerks will get the Boot.
Jerks need not Board!

air travel is truly appalling, it's stressful and just an unpleasent experience. i think i would've asked to leave the plane with these guys acting up like this but in reality i probably would've been kicked off and arrested by the FBI for grevious bodily harm for one of these creeps.

The police report was difficult to read but I thought that the police officer noted that this Dave guy claimed to have not stared at these people, but that he identified the people who complained about being stared at.
Something wrong with that statement.
Thanks for your comments skydash we are always grateful for the unsung hereos who watch our backs every day.

I love the grifter passenger, who of course is claiming "racism" for being "Iraqi" shares how he owns a liquor store in Michigan. Now that, I have to see to believe.
All those really good Muslim drunkards. Where is the condemnation?!
