Talib Abu Salam Ibn Shareef, aka Derrick Shareef, is the fellow who said: "I swear by Allah, man ... I'm down to live for the cause and die for the cause, man," and also "I just want to smoke a judge."
Derrick Shareef Update, man. "23-year-old pleads guilty to 'jihad' plot at Rockford mall," from Associated Press (thanks to all who sent this in):
CHICAGO (AP) - A 23-year-old man who once dreamed of waging violent jihad in Illinois now faces 30 years to life when he's sentenced next year.Derrick Shareef pleaded guilty today to plotting a hand grenade attack on a Rockford mall crowded with Christmas shoppers.
The softspoken, bushy bearded man was apparently inspired by the violent acts of Mideast terrorists.
Apparently.

Maybe we've got it backwards. Mohammedans contend that Islam is peace, and have the Qur'anic quotes to prove it.
Maybe what someone needs to do is to take a fanatic, say someone who is "down to live for the cause and die for the cause, man," and who also wants "to smoke a judge" into a private room equipped with a camera and tape recorder (or the modern digital equivalent).
This person could be encouraged to talk to interlocutors about jihad, what it means to him, and the Qur'anic verses that permit it, demand it.
Once he's all warmed up and steaming, Qur'anic verses that seem to contradict his own references could be tossed at him. With some luck, he would hurl verses that support his side of the debate, to counteract the "peaceful" verses.
The longer it went on, the better it would be when presented to the public (read, infidels).
Voila--the real Qur'an, straight from the jihadi's mouth, along with the provenance of date, time, place etc. "Peaceful" verses shouted down by a typical jihadi madman. If he's a smart madman, maybe he could even explain the concept of abrogation.

I have never known anyone to smoke a judge. Smoke a judge for Allah and justice? I wonder which end you light?
And, I can relate to being inspired by terrorist acts, they inspire me also, but not in a way that any muslim will appreciate. This guy would have been better off smoking a joint, now he is going to have to live in one...

talk about burning the "judge" at both ends, man...

If Derrick knew what many many Muslim Arabs think of African Americans he would have second thoughts about this. Many think they are members of the Low-IQ-Club. It's all a scam from them, Derrick. "Their BS is piled so high (as one guy in the movie Apocalypse Now said) that one has to sprout wings to stay above it".

There's plenty of others just like Derrick out there...just waiting...
Some people are reading, and listening, and paying attention. We're waiting, too.

I certainly wish Robert or Hugh would comment on Abu Dhabi's purchase of 4.9% of Citibank. Robert Rubin, Clinton's Treasury Secretary, now chairman of Citi's executive committee, apparently cut the deal. Those of you who hold Citi credit cards should read:

Just the mental level Islam would appeal to -- articulate, scholoraly.

'Less this guy--Derrick*--gets 30-to-life in solitary, he'll find plenty of fellow-"Faithful" in the joint. In solitary, without a koran, no TV, computer, newspapers--only alone with his thoughts, would be punishment--not a fitting punishment either. Only execution would be fitting, as it would remove this person from our society.
If, however, he is allowed to mingle--doily-cap and all--with the rest of the prison Moslems, have an imam talking koran etcc. to him, he will never be rehabilitated.
*named after an oil derrick or more appropriately after a lifting device--"named for its resemblance to a type of gallows from which a hangman's noose hangs. The derrick type of gallows in turn got its name from Thomas Derrick, an English executioner from the Elizabethan era." (wikipedia)

"The softspoken, bushy bearded man was apparently inspired by the violent acts of Mideast terrorists"....lets not forget where his true inspiration comes from: his spiritual mentor Muhammad, for whom none of this would be possible. Thanks Mo.

Indoctrination is "education" for Islamophobic Wisconsin wacademia;
Islamophobia can end by educationPosted by: Terp Mole
...Americans need to understand the difference between cultural practices and Islam itself. People like Mr. Horowitz and Mr. Spencer serve to blur this distinction and generate Islamophobia... As a MSA board member, I would like to invite everyone to come learn about Islam from Muslims themselves... you can visit the campus mosque on 21 N. Orchard St. for Friday services that start at 12:30 p.m.

"The softspoken, bushy bearded man was apparently inspired by the violent acts of Mideast terrorists".
Then why didn't he go to Iraq and participate in the Sunni vs Shiite "smoking" festivals? Either side would be glad to have him, man.

"If Derrick knew what many many Muslim Arabs think of African Americans he would have second thoughts about this."
-- from a posting above
If he knew about how, in Islam, slavery is forever licit, because Muhammad had slaves, and that the Arab slave trade in Africa began earlier, lasted longer (indeed, despite the efforts of Western powers to totally stamp it out, the Arab enslavement of blacks, in Mauritania, in the Sudan, even deep inside Saudi Arabia itself, continues -- in the opinion of many observers, right up to the present day), and claimed far more victims, than did the Atlantic Slave Trade.
See Jan Hogedoorn's article, "The Hideous Trade."
See Sean O'Callaghan's book, published in 1961, "The Slave Trade Today" -- all about slavery in the Arab states, a book that helped cause the outrcry that forced Saudi Arabia, most reluctantly, to finally ban slavery (officially, but the practice continued unofficially) in 1962, the last country on earth to do so.

One small comment. I think we're getting SOMEWHERE.
Look at that headline - "23-year-old pleads guilty to 'jihad' plot at Rockford mall". Robert didn't have to change as much as he usually does: just improve the designation of the perp and remove the quotes from 'jihad' - "Illinois Muslim pleads guilty to jihad plot at mall". Within the article the word jihad was used without quotes.
At least the reporter used the word Jihad.
Does the article have a by-line? If your city newspaper published this story, and mentioned jihad, write the editor a letter and commend him - and the reporter - for being brave enough to use the J-word, for thus removing just a little of the fog, and tell them about a few useful little books that could help them to report, accurately, about what jihad is, exactly, and associated matters, like dar al-Islam and dar al-Harb.

To Terpmole -
I hope that large parties of Infidels will take up that oh-so-sweet invitation to visit the 'campus mosque' at Wisconsin (which university?) on Fridays and see the 'real Islam'.
I hope the parties include men - some really big guys, hopefully - and women with uncovered hair. I hope they include Jews and Christians, wearing crosses and stars of David (not in-your-face, but visible), and visibly backing each other up (you don't have to hug and hold hands, but make your alliance clear). A few Hindus, Sikhs or Buddhist or Confucian folks - you should find those on a properly diverse university campus - should also form part of the party, if they're game. What about a blind person with a seeing-eye dog? Test the boundaries.
Meet beforehand and work out your moves. Go along, keep mouths shut and eyes wide open, and observe and take notes on EVERYTHING. Meet afterward, somewhere nice for coffee, and debrief and discuss.
And, to be quite frank, if you are an observant Jew or practising Christian, pray most fervently before you go, for the spiritual and physical and mental safety of every person in the party.
