US withdraws Mideast resolution at UN

A small sign of sanity? No, probably this is just a momentary setback on the Road To Universal Peace. By Edith M. Lederer for Associated Press:

UNITED NATIONS - In an about face, the United States on Friday withdrew a U.N. resolution endorsing this week's agreement by Israeli and Palestinian leaders to try to reach a Mideast peace settlement by the end of 2008, apparently after Israel objected.

U.S. Deputy Ambassador Alejandro Wolff informed the Security Council that the United States was pulling the resolution from consideration less than 24 hours after U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad introduced it.

Khalilzad had said he needed to consult with the Israelis and Palestinians on the text of the resolution to ensure that it was what they wanted following the decisions by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at the Mideast peace conference in Annapolis, Md.

Wolff said the U.S. had held intensive consultations in the past few days "and the upshot was that there were some unease with the idea" of a resolution.

Diplomats said Israel, a close U.S. ally, did not want a resolution, which would bring the Security Council into the fledgling negotiations with the Palestinians. The diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said Khalilzad introduced the draft resolution without getting broad support from the Israelis, Palestinians and the Bush administration.

"It's not the proper venue," Israel's deputy ambassador Daniel Carmon said after Friday's council meeting. "We feel that the appreciation of Annapolis has other means of being expressed than in a resolution.

"We were not the only ones to object," Carmon said.

He added that the Americans had told the Israelis that the Palestinians also objected.

Abbas, speaking to reporters in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, said Friday that while he didn't know the details of the draft resolution it was a sign of the seriousness of the United States, which he also perceived at the Annapolis conference.

It's quite obvious why neither side wants the UN involved. The Israeli's can't trust the UN to be fair and the terrorists don't want anyone to oversee their eventual betrayal should any "peace" accord be reached.

Not only is Bush selling out the Jews in Israel, he is selling out the Christians, Druze, etc., in Lebanon who oppose the Syrian murderer. Mr. Bush and Dr. Rice invited the murderous Syraian regime to Annapolis, all the while Syria supports and finances her terror proxies Hezbollah and Hamas. Bush is determined to strike a bargain with the devil.

"....It seems that in the end, Bashar al-Asad and his (Syrian) family will pay no price for their murderous campaign against a U.S. ally. That is to say, insofar as the White House's post-9/11 freedom agenda was meant to counter violence and extremism, it is Osama bin Laden's vision of the Middle East that has won the day in Lebanon--not freedom, sovereignty and independence, but terror and death."

A small item on Foxnews online about a lunch on Monday during the Annapolis meeting entitled Odd lunchfellows.

Khalizad and Soros, odd indeed.

I guess the hasty brunches from Annapolis are already backing up on them.

Weasels on toast points.

It was an excellent decision, as UN was already licking their chops on this one (and how to royally screw things up as they've always done), not to mention the conflict-of-interest thugs-in-waiting ready and willing to push their own agendas...and suddenly, as they showed their ravenous appetite for destruction, Bush pulls a: "PSYCHE!!!"
We should've had cameras to record the looks on their faces when they realized THEY'd been psyched out...for once, and tipped their hands in the process, too...PRICELESS!
LMAO

Best to make sure Useless Numbnuts, Inc keeps their mitts off $hit...regardless of what it is, and not just this, either.

Israelinsider: "Olmert backed off from his opposition to any timetable for negotiations. Now there is a date for the start of negotiations -- December 12 -- and a date for their completion, the end of 2008. In the current situation, Olmert will find it difficult to say that "there are no sacred dates." In effect, he has endorsed the time schedule."

Hints on Middle East Policy

"Earlier that month, responding to a request by the American Jewish Committee to spell out his views on Israel and Middle East peace (a request also made of, and fulfilled by, Vice President Gore), Governor Bush issued a ringing endorsement of a close U.S.-Israel relationship, making it clearthat he would "always stand with Israel," not attempt to "make Israel conform to [Washington's] own plans and timetables" for peace, and would "never interfere in Israeli elections."

The Governor went even further, telling AJC: "My support for Israel is not conditional on the outcome of the peace process. America's special relationship with Israel precedes and transcends the peace process. And Israel's adversaries should know that in my administration, this special relationship will continue even if they cannot bring themselves to make true peace with the Jewish state. Something else will happen when I take office in January 2001: I will set in motion immediately the process of moving the U.S. ambassador to the city Israel has chosen as its capital, Jerusalem.

{George W. Bush supports this murderous jihadist / Holocaust denier! Bush calls this mass-murderer, financier of the Munich massacres, a "man dedicated to peace." How can any self-respecting American support Bush?}

Abbas repeats rejection of 'Jewish state' demand
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
CAIRO, Egypt

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday reiterated his rejection of Israel's demand to recognize it as a Jewish state.

"From a historical perspective, there are two states: Israel and Palestine. In Israel, there are Jews and others living there. This we are willing to recognize, nothing else," Abbas told reporters in Saudi Arabia.

Palestinian negotiator Ahmad Qurei (Abu Ala) emphasized that that upcoming negotiations with Israel also apply to the Gaza Strip, even though it is under Hamas control.

Earlier Saturday, Abbas said that there would be meetings in Moscow and Paris to follow up on the Annapolis peace conference.

Abbas made the comments after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo. He also said that a special negotiating team led by Qurei, would handle negotiations with Israelis, which is due to launch Dec. 12....

He is also a liar. From a historical perspective, there were never two states: Israel and Palestine.

Hey jcom972, George W. Bush needs his Texas boots spit-polished and cleaned. There is much cow dung on them. Can you be of service?

Dr. Rice is Mr. Bush's employee. She does and says what she is told to do and say. Otherwise she will be out of a job; booted. Only grovelers, boot-lickers and apologists do damage control for evil-doers. Ever heard the saying "The buck stops here." (?)

Hold On folks ,these are devious lying politicians we are talking about.
Scratch and Sniff for a fake pass.
Bush openly trampled Israel's sovereignty and Olmert didn't like the slave treatment and said he would not play along THIS TIME.
It makes him look tough for the sheeple back home in Israel who see him as a Bush puppet.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was staged to make Olmert look tough before his next ethnic cleansing planned for Judea very soon.
There will be many phony operations to prepare the Jews to leave for Kink George's, not Rice's PALESTINIAN STATE ,
either way, the big picture ;
Bush removed the U.N.paper because he knows Olmert is willing to throw thousands of Jews out of their homes and land for him in the coming weeks.
U.N. Paper or Jews removed from their land ,Bush chose the latter

I am nearly finished with John Bolton's book "Surrender is not an Option", much of which is dedicated to a description of his 2-year stay there as USUN Ambassador. The politics that stifles that agency is beyond belief. They totally failed their functional purpose on Iran, North Korea, Darfur, Venezuela, Lebanon-Syria, Somalia, Eritrea & Ethiopia, Sudan, etc. The EUroids (as Bolton calls the Brit, French and German UN bureaucrats) have a basic mission of challenging the USA on everything, as do the Russians and Chinese. They are responsible for all the watered-down spineless useless resolutions, mandates and what-not coming out of the UN.

Until the Bolton reforms are implemented at the UN (do not hold your breath) the UN is not an instrument of peace but will willy-nilly lead to war(s) because it is unable to get its act together in time to be effective.

Time is a weapon for our enemies in that it gives them the ability to finish their arsenals, and our so-called allies in the UN actually plow the time weapon against us. The appeasement-bent EUroids are in some sort of utopian time warp concerning Islam, as are their home governments, and ours also, as a matter of fact.

The United States must be prepared to go it alone in bringing Iran to account. Time has already run out on control of nuclear proliferation. In this regard see the "Symposium: Hitting Iran?", on Frontpagemag.

Secretary Rice has apparently come under the spell of lower-level State Department Clinton bureaucrats who are pro-Arab, anti-Israel, pro-Kosovo, anti-Serb. This is a great pity for our nation, as well as Israel.

A Republican victory is essential for the next election with a platform of cleaning out the nest of Clinton plant of vipers in the State Department.

Israel must not give up another square centimeter to the Arabs, regardless of Rice and the Foggy Bottom vipers. Jerusalem never! The Golan Heights, never!

A related recommended read is on Gates of Vienna:
Cool War-Warm War-Hot War, by Paul Weston, so far in 2 parts of 3, the 3rd to come.
http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/

Here is a quote from Weston Part 2 with a most interesting conclusion:

"...The second strand of the cool war is the political/propaganda war, which we are also losing. Whether this is because our ruling elites are terrified of Islamic aggression, harbour a loathing of the West bordering on the suicidal, or exhibit ignorance verging on the criminally negligent is not completely clear at the present moment, but may yet be discovered at some future Nuremberg style war trials. ..."

This applies to Weston's Europe and also to America's Beltway pols and bureaucrats. They are all living in a liberal leftist fantasyland while our countries and our governments and schools are being undermined and sabotaged by Islamotermites aided by the Marxian termites. Will it take revolutions by the indigenous peoples with People's Courts to re-establish the Western rules of order? When reason fails to move the political elites can blood in the streets be far behind?

Or is Weston right that the Euroman of the 21st century has been neutered by the feminists and is now a girlyman? Again, American males have also been subject to the same type of brainwashing for the past 40+/- years. The girlyman population (and I do not mean gays) is probably already in the majority.

Khalilzad(our UN Ambassador) is a Jew hating Muslim that unilaterally ie without the White House, Israeli and his boss Condi tried to have the Security enforce a MidEast settlement by the end of 2008.

This guy should be fired immediately.

That he and Soros(enemy # 2) were lunching should be no surprise.

I thought this when I voted for Bush in 2000. Bush he has done more damage to Israel and to the Middle East than Clinton did. Middle East is far more unstable a region than under any previous U.S. president.

Before John Bolton, I could not have for the life of me have named our Useless Nations ambassador.
The first time I saw him on television my thought was "WOW, how did we get so lucky as to have this guy?
Well, that didn't last long. To be replaced by a Muslim???

Posted by: Aunt Bea [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 2, 2007 9:58 AM

John Bolton was W's choice for Useless Numbnuts, Inc, only got him there through a recess appointment since the leftists rabidly opposed him outright, almost to the point of fanatical.
That's also why he couldn't stay there, since they announced publicly he had no chance of approval by the sorosistas...ooops, I meant the leftists chairing the committee.
(see public record in the "Congressional Record" site)

The Prez can only name the head of a cabinet level department (actually Bolton was also his first choice to replace Powell as SecDef, but couldn't for the same reasons as his possibility for the UN, Condi was his second choice), but can do nothing about the dregs who got in the term(s) before, which often times are outright hostile to new Prez's, especially politically motivated ones of different parties.
Bolton's also his choice for Secretary of State as replacement, but no hope of that happening now with the same leftists now in majority power, and a year left on his term...not much could be accomplished now.

As for damage done to Israel, only one person owns that distinction...one who's actually documented on it, and beyond dispute:
http://www.terrorismawareness.org/jimmy-carters-war/
so we count ourselves lucky with what we DO have, and it's not dhimmi jimmy.
