FEDERAL police are investigating local Muslim leaders over suspicions they are encouraging dozens of young men to return to their homeland to join Islamic jihadis against the Ethiopian-backed Somali forces.AFP agents have quizzed African community members, including families and friends in Melbourne, over the spate of young Somalis who have left Australia in the past year.
It is understood that the investigation has widened following revelations in The Australian that a Somali from Melbourne, Ahmed Ali, who travelled to Somalia in December to fight alongside the Islamic Courts movement, was believed to be working as an interpreter with al-Qa'ida. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade reported in January that Mr Ali had been killed in the fighting.
Mr Ali's mother, Khadra Nimale, who says she believes her son is still alive, has been interviewed by the AFP and provided them with contact details to family members in Somalia, Britain and the Emirates.
Mr Ali's brother, Mohammed, has been contacted by the authorities in Britain.
Ms Nimale said Mr Ali, 26, was last spotted two weeks ago on the outskirts of the capital, Mogadishu, by members of her tribe.
She said relatives back home told her Mr Ali - a father of two who became a radical following the September 11, 2001, attacks on Washington and New York - had recently been injured in a car crash.
Somali community figures said Mr Ali was one of 30 or 40 Australian Somalis who have returned to fight since last December.
It is understood that one of the recruitment strategies is a DVD, which revels in the bloodshed caused by Islamic militants in Somalia and calls on young men from around the world to join the war.
The DVD has been circulating in Melbourne's Somali community....

Okay, let me say it once again: this "Religion of Peace" appears to be made up of an endless supply of ULTRA-VIOLENT THUGS.
Notice also how well they have assimilated to their new first world adopted country: at the drop of a hat they would PREFER to return to their third world S@#$HOLE country of origin for the opportunity to MURDER non-Muslims.
And... what do you think they will do when, after having gained training in waging Jihad and actual battle experience, they return to Australia, hmmm?

I'm all for it. I think they should all be encouraged to go back to Somalia and fight in the Jihad, against the Ethiopians, or other Somalis, it hardly matters. By all means. Don't stop them, for god's sake.

Finally-Islamanaic leaders call for something sensible. I thought I'd never live to see that happen!
Now if we supply Ethiopia with what they need to eliminate this plague everyone will come out a winner.

Not all Ethiopians are Christian. The Christian kingdom, the one that offered refuge to 83 of Muhammad's early followers and thus won a special place, or special immunity from Muslim conquest, in early Muslim doctrine, appears to be immune no longer, but just one more land of the Infidels that can be conquered. And it is happening, through the slow but steady increase -- through campaigns of Da'wa and other means -- in Ethiopia's Muslim population. But for now the Christians still control the government. For how long? It depends on what they do about the demographic threat: deal with it now or, under much less favorable conditions, later. It is the same problem that the people of Western Europe face.

They should all be encouraged to return to their homeland. They have no loyalty whatsoever to Australia. Under absolutely no circumstances should any of them be permitted back in.

Off topic .. only slightly.
Funny thing is that it appears the world has seen the darkness of Islam. I was watching BBC America last night and the newsman was talking about Gillian Gibbons (the teacher recently released from the Sudan). The end of the segment was topped of by comments from viewers at have your say, which consisted of the usual moral equivication, and self loathing from the left. It was so bad I yelled at the television and started to watch baseball recaps on ESPN. If any of you saw that ... here is what real Brits are saying .... apparently after deleting the entire comments section, which didn't fit the world construct as supported by the BBC ... the new posts were more of the same.

I don't think we should extol Jihadis to go and fight governments "Christians still control".

Who could disagree with this? If they are willing to go overseas to kill infidels and install sharia there, what should we suppose they would be willing to do if we let them back in here? And yet we won't even do that much to protect ourselves.

I agree with Hugh, Elric, and Infidel; let these young thugs go back to Somalia, where they will likely end up fighting each other. If they stayed in Oz they'd surely cause trouble. Just be sure that any survivors are not allowed back into Oz. They have declared their allegiance, let them live with it. Too bad it's only 30 or 40 leaving instead of 30 or 40 thousand.

ebonystone and others - I agree - the Australian authorities should be making it absolutely clear, to the entire Muslim 'community' in Australia, not just the Somalis, that ANY MUSLIM known or reasonably suspected of having departed Australia in order to join the jihad in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir, Somalia, Lebanon or anywhere else, will NEVER be allowed back in, no matter what; and if they have Australian citizenship, it will be stripped from them.
Time to write letters to the new Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Defence, and the Minister for Immigration, and their Shadows on the opposition Front Bench, including copies of this newspaper article, and proposing the measures mentioned above.
Same deal should apply to Muslims from other Infidel countries - e.g. from Britain, France, Germany, India, Russia, Thailand, wherever.
Leave the country to conduct jihad...and you will never be allowed back in, and your citizenship, if you are a 'citizen', will be revoked.
Oh yes - and I do hope that in this particular case, the Ethiopian government and armed forces have been provided with the names, mug shots and full descriptions of these so-called 'Australian Somalis', all 30 or 40 of them or more, with a strong under-the-table hint..."Use Your Initiative - we no longer regard these b****y b****ds as our citizens (and by the way, would you like some ammo and cash to help deal with them and their little friends?)".
Time for all Infidel governments to hammer out agreements whereby a Muslim 'citizen' from Infidel Country A, caught carrying out jihad by any means in Infidel Country B, may be dealt with by B as hostile enemy alien and will be regarded by A henceforth as the same. So: any Muslim from an Infidel country, caught in, say, Thailand or Ethiopia, may expect swift military justice from the country that catches him, and nothing but 'good riddance to bad rubbish', from his previous 'host'.

Further note - it should be possible to discover precisely who was circulating those DVDs. If they can be linked with any mosque, that mosque should be shut down forthwith, permanently, after a thorough search of its premises and a forensic audit of all records and finances. The imam of that mosque, or mosques, should also be deported, and - if a citizen - stripped of citizenship.

In addition to not allowing the departed jihadis to return to Australia, the Aussies should also report their names to the authorities in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., New Zealand, and other civilized countries, so that they could also refuse them admission. Of course, it should be a mutual program; all these countries should report to each other.

The world needs more enlightened muslim leaders like these.
OK it's a done deal. We encourage all these muslims, Somali or not, to go there and fight in jihad, and then don't let them back in.
If we do it right, we will cause Islam to implode.

I suspect that the "Muslim leaders" in Australia (and elsewhere in the west) may have also instructed these men, who emigrate for jihad in Somalia, with this:
